Kuay Teow Rice Noodles

These venerated rice noodles are often boiled in soup or stir-fried in many Malaysian, Chinese and Thai dishes. I managed to cause myself "silent" damage by eating these for years in restaurants, and buying the first ones I saw in grocery stores. They are made fresh, and upon recent close inspection, they contain wheat :(

Anyone know of a brand of gluten-free kuay teow noodles?

Were those noodles causing your nausea for the last six months or so?

jddh Contributor

Well they weren't helping ;)

I had been eating those noodles and several contaminated foods regularly BEFORE my nauseous period started. Once that began, I really limited my diet, and since then, I've become much more conscious about the need for a 100% gluten-free regimen.

I was a somewhat cavalier "symptoms = gluten" guy before my troubles began. In retrospect, my sticky symptoms were probably triggered by years of diet neglect, plus one or two proper glutenings last summer.

Looks like you have Celiac disease. You really should be completely gluten free. Read ingredients on all of your food.  You will have a hard time feeling and healing well if you continue to eat small amounts of gluten.

There are a few brands that make gluten-free noodles that might be similar to those noodles.  You may want to look on line at gluten-free noodles.  I know JOvila makes an "egg" noodle that might be similar?

If the manufacturer says it contains gluten, then I would definitely go with that over the government website.

Yes-sorry for that mistake. Nature's Bounty.

It wasn't the pharmacist. It was the manufacturer. I called Reddy Labs. Reddy Labs said that their Sumatriptan SUCC has gluten in it. The government website information is from December, 2020. So do I trust 4-5 year old information or the information that the manufacturer told me today? Given that it is for my profoundly autistic, developmentally disabled son with celiac disease and migraines who cannot tell me if he suspects he has been exposed to gluten, I went with the information from the manufacturer given to me today. I do wish I had brought them home and run my EZ Gluten and LEOverified test on one of the pills crushed up. But I was so shocked when the manufacturer told me that the pills contained gluten that I put them in the CVS medicine disposal immediately.

People say lots of things, but the site above is a government website and should have the correct ingredients (perhaps ask the pharmacist where they got their info?).

They’re a Canadian brand so I’d assume you’d be able to buy from the US. You can buy them directly from their website but also on iHerb.  Hope your daughter feels better soon.
