anaphylaxis or gluten reaction??

So confused by this scary episode yesterday. So I’ve been suspecting a gluten intolerance for a couple months now due to this new constant arthritis type pain and swelling my right wrist. There's now so many other symptoms I’ve been having but I also have Hypothyroid so I was assuming it has been from that. Any way yesterday I ordered a vegan falafel sandwich on a yummy fresh baguette and only ate half and noticed a tight feeling in my throat that now I recall Ive been feeling quite a bit lately. I ignored the feeling and went on with my day. Well a few hours later while I was relaxing in bed I ate the other half and with in mins I got that tight feeling in my throat again and suddenly felt drugged like I was not all there and my eyes felt heavy. Then I noticed my heart started to race and a tightness across my chest and I felt trapped in my body. I started to have a panic attacked and called out for help to my fiance as I was gasping for air. my heart was pounding and I felt like I was going to faint. with in a few min the panic attack was over but my throat was still tight and i could barley make sense of what was going on I could barley walk or talk but asked to go to the emergency room. Once there I had another panic attack while hooked up to the EKG in front of the Dr and all he basically said was I was having panic attacks and most likely the fried falafel in my sandwich gave me acid reflux and that cause my throat to feel tight. It doesn’t make sense to me at all. I felt like what ever I ate (gluten ) poisoned my body and sent it into shock. He said it wasn’t a Anaphylaxis reaction because I didn’t have hives or swelling which isn’t always a symptom … what the hell happened ?? Is this a normal reaction to someone with celiac ?

The best thing you can do is get to your regular doctor and have a celiac panel run. You might also ask to see an allergist. Be sure to keep eating gluten until all celiac related testing is done.

I know this is a really old question, but I was struggling with the same thing and had no idea what was going on and doctors were no help at all. Now I think it's mast cell activation. Google it and see if it sounds like your symptoms. I just wanted to put that out there in case anyone else also had this type of reaction.

So I got curious and looked up the address of Global Food and found that their listed address is the EXACT same as the Roastery Coast nuts, the original product that I found the Global Food Gluten Free Certification on. Global Food and Roastery Coast are the same company. I'm seriously cracking up at how sketchy it is.  ROASTERY COAST OFFICE 40222 La Quinta LN B102  Palmdale, CA 93551   Global Food Office Address: 40222 La Quinta LN, STE B-102Palmdale, CA 93551   Business Hours: Monday - Friday: 8:30am to 5:00pm   Telephone: 661-977-2300   Email: info@globalfoodcert.org

The only good part I see in their response is the gluten free facility.

Yeah, it's just a marketing ploy.
