Trifecra Nutrition Meal Delivery Journey

I mentioned in an earlier post that I was going to try a gluten-free meal delivery service. I chose Trifecta Nutrition because they said that all of their foods are "100% gluten free" with "no chance of cross contamination". I chose their Paleo Plan because I also need to lose some weight. I started it today and ate the Salmon with Asian Vegetables. All I had to do was put it in the microwave for 3 minutes and it was ready. It tasted pretty good and the portion size was plenty. For dinner I will have Garlic Veggies with Caramelized Onions with Diced Beef. Looks good. Hopefully tastes just as good as it looks. I know there was one person interested in this and I saw that there was 344 view as on now so I'll describe the food, any reactions I may have, and how the overall diet is working. I'm not trying to sell anyone on Trifecta, it's just the one that I chose. It is a bit pricey at $149.00 for 10 meals. If it all works out maybe I'll try a cheaper service but that 100% gluten-free claim got me. Check in from time to time if you're interested. I'll out up a few posts every few days unless something happens.

Thanks!  I love hearing about plans like these.  Unfortunately, I have lots of intolerances, so even eating at a 100% gluten free restaurant does not always agree with me.  I do get being sick and tired of cooking.  I cook three meals a day.  Hot.  I feel like Laura Ingalls’ mother from “Little House on the Praire” sometimes.  I must say that my family is healthier for it and fortunately, we work mostly from home.

Keep the reviews coming!

So I'm about 4 days in now and haven't had any reactions. The food is pretty good. The only thing that I have to say is that the chicken was pretty bland. Besides that, not too bad. I've lost 3 lbs so far but I definitely miss the carbs. It's nice not to shop and cook and do dishes. Money well spent. If any body has any questions, fire away.

Today is day 7. I can tell that I have began to lose a little weight which is good. I feel pretty good, but stay a little hungry because of the low carbs. I do cheat still by having 1 can of Dr. Pepper each morning though. I know it's the Paleo diet but if a cavemen had a can of pop, he'd drink it. Anyway, Trifecta Nutrition has had some great, good, and 1 not so good meals so far. Out of the 10 meals I had for the week, 5 were great, 3 were good, and 2 were not. Their curry and chicken had to be the worst of all but overall I'm very pleased and should be getting my new batch by the end of the day today. Now since I only got 2 meals a day, I went to Krogers and got some apples, oranges, and grapes for snacks and breakfast along with some Once Again Sunflower Butter. Also a package o 4 Sweet Potatoes and Amy's Lean Beef for the meals I didn't get. So far it's going good and I would recommend trying a meal delivery service even if it's not Trifecta. Just do your research and ask the right questions. So far there's been no reactions and my stomach and gut feel better than they have in a while, except when I had the curry.

Today is day 11. I have to say that I don't like Curry. The bad part is I've gotten 2 meals this week that are Curry. Bummer. Some of the other meals taste the same as each other too. I am starting to see the weight loss now which is good and I'm not experiencing low energy so that's a plus. I'll weigh myself Thursday when I go to the gym. Anyway, it's still nice to see some variety with the meals and I'm excited to see that next weeks has some new meals that sound great, except the Curry. I think I'm going to email Trifecta and ask for a substitute for the Curry meal. Still glad I'm giving this a go and we'll see how I like it after Easter. I might try a different meal service or maybe stay with Trifecta. Not sure yet.

This is great. I appreciate your updating your original post, too.

One thing that I do/did to stave off hunger was drink either coffee or green tea (unsweetened naturally). Seemed to work/give my mouth something to do/distraction.

That's the site. There is a promotional code out there too for your first order. There's other places than trifecta but I'm giving it a try for a month and see how things go. I'm also going to get blood work, see how much weight I lost, and so on. I would've tried Freshly but they don't deliver to Cincinnati yet. I was told they would later this year though. I'll put another post tonight.

This is good to know. My issue is that I was getting into a rut (as you do) and then I found the NYT cooking site for $5 a month, which I did for one month, and let me just say it is FANTASTIC. Easy recipes, not too exotic ingredients. DELICIOUS MEALS.

Well I finally had a meal that was just awful. It was some sort of Southwest Turkey meal. Terrible. Worse than the Curry. Besides that, not too bad. The meals are still better than something I could cook and I'm achieving my weight loss goals. I'm down another 5 pounds meaning I've lost 10 pounds in 2 weeks. I go to the doctors for something unrelated on the 27MAR2018 and I'll see just how far I've come. My goal is to do this for a month and go from there. I might look into a different company that has other meals or try the Classical Meals menu with Trifecta.

So this weeks of meals has had a couple losers. I almost cant wait for next weeks meals. Anyway, I'm going to try Trifecta until the end of the month and move on to another meal service. There are a few I have in mind: Factor75 and KettlebellKitchen. It's not that I care for the Paleo diet, but if it is truly paleo, it should be gluten-free. I just emailed both companies and am waiting for their response. I'll post them when I get a reply.

DO NOT USE FACTOR75!:

Thanks for reaching out! Shayla here, I'm with the Factor 75 Customer Experience team.

Every one of our meals is free of gluten, soy, hormones, antibiotics, and preservatives. However, if you’ve been diagnosed with Celiac Disease, we can’t safely recommend Factor 75 for you. (Sorry!) The only way to guarantee your safety is to eat from kitchens that have been certified as gluten free, which we are not (even though we never use it).*

pdm1981 Collaborator

Since Factor75 was a bust, TruFare is another Paleo delivery service and I think I'll give it a go for April. Their site states:

We do not use any gluten, grains, lactose, soy, legumes, or any refined sugars. Ingredients as such are not even allowed in our kitchens. If you have sensitivities/allergies to nuts, seeds, seed based spices or nightshades, it is highly recommended that you select from our AIP offerings.

pdm1981 Collaborator

I just got an email from KettlebellKitchen:

We are not certified gluten-free, but we only use naturally gluten-free ingredients in our meals. That being said, we have several customer who have mild sensitivity to gluten. They haven't had any issues with our meal and have been happy customers for years!

We do our best to ensure that our meals are gluten free. We double check with our vendors to ensure that the spices and any other raw ingredients are gluten free. There are areas for possible cross-contamination (e.g. we source almonds and nuts from a factory that does not certify themselves as gluten free), so that is a risk if you have a serious gluten allergy.  Otherwise, we never choose any ingredients ourselves that are known sources of gluten.

I probably WILL NOT order anything from them. I think I'll use TruFare. There is a Certified gluten-free service but they deliver meal kits. I just like it when its easy to just nuke it.

Well, I'm over 20 days into this diet now. I can see that I've lost more weight. It's been a rough week. A long time relationship came to an end and I quit my job (had a better one within an hour). Anyway, I went ahead and broke my diet and ate some gluten-free Freshetta pizza. A funny thing happened. I've been having issues sleeping for the majority of the 20 days which I heard can be normal with a low carb diet and my recovery from workouts took a long time. Often I was working out sore. I ate the pizza, and went to lay down to watch a movie and woke up this morning. I slept almost 9 hours. Thats a lot for me at anytime. Is it the diet? Am I lacking something? I feel recovered and fresh as can be this morning. I talked to my friend who is a body builder and he recommended a 6:1 diet. Low carbs 6 days a week and 1 cheat day. He said that you'll feel great for about 3 days after the cheat but start dragging on days 5 and 6. Any thoughts?

pdm1981 Collaborator

So it's been about a month. 27 days to be exact and I've been cheating a lot more. I've grown extremely tired of the Paleo food plan and will be starting the Clean plan in a little over a week. I lost 13 pounds all together. I got my blood work down and there were got a negative antibody test which means that Trifecta's claim as a gluten-free company is true. If there was gluten in their food and I had eaten it for this long, it should've shown up. That's what I was told at least. I recommend giving it a shot but maybe just using it for maybe just 1 meal a day. You'll get tired of the food quick. Any questions?

@CeliacPsycho246, You might try cutting out dairy.  Some of us react to Casein, the protein in dairy, the same as to gluten.

Yep, the edit window times out very quickly. It's okay. I got a good laugh out of it.

I wrote that by mistake and there is no where I can edit this.

I hope you meant "pen pal" instead of "paypal".

Hi, I would be open to having a paypal. I am celiac as well. And am struggling with all symtoms.
