Need help! Do my symptoms seem like celiac?

Firstly I'd like to apologize in advance if a post like this isn't allowed, but I'd just really like to hear peoples thoughts on my symptoms and if they correlate to celiac disease. After struggling with these symptoms for a while and constantly researching what it could be, celiac has been in a lot of the search results, so I thought I'd finally come to the forums and make a post asking for advice.

I'm an 18 year old male in the United States who has never left the country. Around 6 months ago in March I first started experiencing symptoms out of no where at school, and had to frequently run to the bathroom for long periods of time, when I usually never use the bathroom at school. The symptoms every time include: cramping lower abdominal pain that comes and goes in intervals, a sudden need to use the bathroom, passing gas more often, green stool that is more foul smelling than usual, and only more recently I occasionally experience some tightness in my throat like the feeling when you have a cold. My stool isn't always diarrhea, but it is always at least more loose. After using the bathroom, I feel much better, but I still have some pain to a lesser degree that lasts for the next few hours. The only trigger I think I know is eating pizza, I will have around 4-6 large pieces the night before for dinner, and then the next day I usually always have these symptoms and need to use the bathroom. When I don't have this sudden urge to go, I have some constipation where I don't need to go for up to a week and a half. This has been going on for 6 months, and I have times where I'm fine for days at a time, but other times when I feel terrible for hours everyday. When I feel the symptoms starting in public, I usually start experiencing anxiety like symptoms on top of my other symptoms such as: accelerated breathing, lack of concentration, and sweating. I don't know if the anxiety like symptoms are from me realizing the pain and discomfort that I will feel soon, or if all of my issues are coming directly from anxiety/stress like my family thinks. I will be moving away for college soon, so I don't know if that plays a factor, but this started randomly one day in March, when I knew my college plans months prior to that. I just recently visited my local clinic and had blood work done, but while I'm waiting to hear the results, I'd like to hear other opinions and thoughts. Thank you.

Welcome!

There are over 200 symptoms that are attributed to celiac disease.  Unfortunately, those symptoms often overlap with other illnesses.  Learn more about testing for celiac disease:

Follow your gut (no pun intended).  Something is wrong.  Do not settle for a  “it is all in your head” diagnosis.  Chances are, it is not!  You may not have celiac disease, but you can rule it out.

The kind of post you did is certainly allowed. That's what we're here for.

What kind of blood work did you have done? Normal CBC stuff or a celiac serum panel?

The symptoms you're describing could be celiac disease and then again, it could not be, but it's certainly worth exploring the possibility. For sure something is going on & it needs to be gotten to the bottom of. Keep advocating for your health.

I'm not really sure what my doctor tested me for because he drew a lot of blood, but I did request my blood to be tested for celiac. I went to a place I've never been before, with a new doctor, and he didn't really speculate on what it could be. The place is a small clinic in my area that's closed both Saturday and Sunday, and I called on Wednesday asking for my results, which I was told someone would get back with me soon. But I don't know if nothing is wrong with the blood results, so they felt no need to really call, or if the clinic just isn't very good with getting back with patients.

Ask them for a copy of all your blood test results. They are required to give them to you.

Ditto what Tessa said.

The "IgA 47-310 normal range" = is the total IGA test I mentioned in an earlier test. It goes by a number of names. He is not IGA deficient.

Doctors don't usually test the levels of all the B vitamins.  B12 is frequently the only one checked.   Ask for an Erythrocyte transketolase test to check Thiamine Vitamin B 1  levels.  The eight B vitamins all work together, so they should all be supplemented.  Additional thiamine in the form Benfotiamine can be taken.

No.  The damage done to the lining of the intestines is caused by the autoimmune response of Celiac disease.   People who have been off of gluten for an extended period may take longer to mount an autoimmune response.  Twelve days of gluten after two years off probably wasn't enough time and not sufficient gluten.

@trents @knitty kitty would NCGS show some celiac in biopsy?

@trents blood tests were IgA 47-310 normal range - mine was 120; TTG <15.0 antibody not detected, mine was <1.0.
