Reformulations Losing Staple Foods

We all have had a company we love reformulate to include something we can not have, not just gluten. For me, it was Protes, they were a lower carb protein based chip. They were my Corn free corn chips, with a nacho cheese Doritos and BBQ flavors being my food I turned to for nostalgia.

Well a few days ago they announced a reformulation, they were now using ground corn in them....something I am allergic to and the whole reason I was eating them. They are still vegan, gluten, free.

After going manic, posting in corn allergy support groups, ranting at them etc. They gave me the old recipe ratios...I realized it was really not that low carb anyway and explained why I never felt comfortable eating more then 6-8 chips. Really had a ton of potato flakes in it.

So now I am looking at using my old protein cracker recipe and trying to improve it. Along with using Califlour Foods pizza crust and their crackers for snacking instead. Now I just need a good Vegan Nacho Cheese Doritos powder recipe. Also Found I can tolerate Epic Brand Pork Rinds, the baked ones do not bother me at all.

You will be missed Protes chips.

5 years ago, they used to be my stable til I got issues with carbs -_-. I found another protein chip same as the old ones. BUT I am settling for homemade protein crackers instead as the ingredient list is shorter and healthier.

After looking at Google images, the spleen is on the upper left abdomen, too!  An organ, part of the lymphatic system for immune function.  A filter.  Wonder how this relates to gluten sensitivity?

Hey, mistake in my post,  pancreas TAIL is on the left side.  Head is middle back of belly,

Hello, everyone, This upper left side pain is interesting to me.  I have this same pain almost all the time.  Started 2009 when I got diverticulitis for the first time.  Then had left ovarian cyst removed and a diagnosis of endometriosis all over inside.  Been attempting gluten-free since 2018.  It's not perfect, but still have that left sided pain.  Like up under the rib cage.  I believe the pancreas head is on that side, so I often wonder if I have a tumor or something there.  But it could also be an endometriosis adhesion in my belly.  I never got scraped.

One of my biggest issues is when a brand chooses to label one item gluten free, but not another. Why is Hunt's diced tomatoes labeled gluten free, but not the paste or sauce? I would have assumed they were all gluten-free, but why label one and not the others? It makes me suspicious.

Most of these items would be naturally gluten-free, with very little chance of cross contamination, thus they don't typically label them as gluten-free. If wheat is a potential allergen large companies disclose this in the ingredients as "Allergens: wheat."
