A Couple Ingredient Questions Please

hi guys, I'm going to make a soup with perdue ground chicken..it says all natural but has "potassium lactate" in it..is that ok? is that lactose

also..my mom got me these great frozen spices at trader joes, they come in little cubes, that you just pop out..very cool..it says all natural, but the garlic and parsley cubes have "dextrose" is that ok?

According to The CSA Gluten Free Product Listing, dextrose is gluten free. It says it occurs naturally in fruits and other parts of plants and is a naturally occurring form of glucose. It does not list potassium lactate.

If there is a phone number on these items please call it before consuming to check for sure. I can't count the number of times the label looked safe and it actually wasn't. A bonus from doing this is that many times a company will send coupons and some have gluten-free lists they will send. I find for myself it is better safe than sorry.

It isn't lactose as from milk. It's a derivative of corn (usually) and used as an inhibiter of pathogins. Sounds nasty but safe.

Dextrose is a form of sugar. It's gluten-free. As for the chicken, raw meat is required to list wheat, rye, or barley if it's there. Potassium lactate, which is gluten-free, is used to inhibit food-borne illnesses.

I really can't imagine how either skin or skinless chicken thighs could not be gluten free unless one or the other were treated with some seasoning ingredient that was not gluten free. Do the product labels indicate any additional ingredients added to the meat? Is your daughter a super sensitive celiac? If not, the...

      HI, My daughter was recently diagnosed with Celiac and I would like to make her some chicken soup (she's got he flu). I found all gluten free ingredients but I'm having trouble with the chicken. I purchased Purdue bone-in chicken thighs from BJ's Wholesale Club. Purdue says that they are gluten free but the BJ's website says no. It seems like skin-on chicken...

      Hello there, it's been ages since I signed into this account. Wanted to see if there were other celiac patients that have gone through perimenopause/menopause and chose to take estrogen or wear an estrogen patch? I know all of our bodies are different but curious how it went or is going for you. Thanks so much.

If not, the amount of gluten cross contamination found in seasonings is usually inconsequential.
