Substituting Milks

In many of the recipes posted, there is a need for milk. Since some of us are DF and some aren't, when soy or rice milk is listed, can regular milk be substituted 1 to 1?

Thanks for any insight.

Julie

Whenever I use rice milk in a recipe calling for "milk", I substitute it 1 to 1--never had a problem.

You can make equal substitutions no problem.

Obviously, though, don't use vanilla flavored milk in something not meant to be sweet!

Carriefaith Enthusiast

I substitute regular milk with soy milk with no problems.

I substitute regular milk with soy or almond milk 1:1 no problem.

Perhaps you'll need to mix your own cocktails?

Your son has two positive blood tests for celiac disease, plus a positive biopsy for it...why hasn't your doctor diagnosed him with celiac disease, which is the most likely diagnosis based on the test results you shared? The next step should be a gluten-free diet, which your doctor already recommended.

I am glad to hear you are not taking acid blocking meds as they increase gut PH which inhibits mineral absorption which, in turn, often causes the body to rob it's own bones of the calcium it needs for various metabolic processes. I was asking about that because acid reflux is very common in the celiac community.

I am not taking anything except for the multivitamins that I purchased from the supermarket.

This is what my Cardiologist prescribed for my weight.  My husband is prescribed 10,000 units.  When I say prescribed I do not mean a prescription is needed, just that the 2 respective dosages are what he ordered according to our size/weight.  My cardiologist is accepted as one of Houston's leading cardiologists.
