Foot pain and celiac disease

Is foot pain a Celiac symptom? I have bad pain in my heels when I get up in the morning or after sitting for a while. It's very difficult to walk sometimes, but after hobbling around for about 5 minutes it goes away.  I know people with Crohns have issue with foot pain, but had not heard anything regarding Celiac.

Celiac is systemic so it can affect any part of the body. However, if you are on a gluten-free diet and not having other issues related to Celiac it could be something else.

That sounds like it could be circulation or nerve issue. Celiac can cause nerve issues but typically that's in people with uncontrolled celiac disease or those that are just recently diagnosed.

My husband has had plantar fasciitis and I think it is not related to celiac disease as I have several friends who experienced it too.  Talk to your doctor.

Foods tasting salty can be an indicator of diabetes, kidney failure, Sjogren's syndrome, thyroid problems, smoking, dehydration and zinc deficiency.

Our insight into the immune responses involved in celiac disease has steadily increased and there have been many attempts to develop drug therapies to either break down gluten before it triggers immune system responses or to, in some way, trick the immune system into no longer identifying gluten as a threat. So far, all these attempts have been disappointments that did make it out of the trial phases that all new drug therapies are put through.

Good idea! We don’t have a range hood/exhaust fan so I didn’t think of that.

This article fits that category:  and this is more broad and not limited to the past year:

To be on the safe side, for those who are super sensitive, I would still recommend turning the fan on the range hood to high when cooking any gluten, including pasta.
