Purchased Trader Joe’s Protein Burgers and now noticed that Oat Fiber is one of the listed ingredients.

Is oat fiber gluten free? I have Celiac disease.

This is a tricky question...oats are often cross-contaminated with gluten unless they are labelled "gluten-free," which means they have been processed in a way to remove contaminants like wheat which is often grown in the same fields, or processed on the same equipment.

Oat fiber would have the protein removed, so it would have very little of any kind of gluten in it. Many celiacs would not eat this if it did not say "gluten-free" on the label. It is possible, however, that the product is naturally gluten-free. It would be your call on whether or not you want to risk eating it, but to play it safe you probably should not.

No way would I eat these TJ burgers, especially when we are experiencing the COVID-19 crisis.  Who wants a celiac flare-up and the virus?  ?

      Hello, @jadeceoliacuk, Has your son been tested for nutritional deficiencies?  Celiac Disease causes malabsorption of essential nutrients which can result in nutritional deficiencies.  Supplementing with essential vitamins and minerals is beneficial.   I would find a nutritionist more knowledgeable about Celiac and ASD, before taking herbal supplements that don't contain essential vitamins.       There doesn't seem to be much information about the effects of Gluten Ataxia in this forum.  I was diagnosed with Celiacs Disease but never had typical gluten symptoms.  My symptoms were all ataxic.
