Gluten Free Beer In Ma

I was wondering if anyone from MA has found gluten free beer here. Or if anyone has actually gone to a liquor store and asked them to get it or carry it. I know there is New Grist, Ramapo Valley and Bard's Tale.

To order Ramapo Valley it costs just as much to ship it as the beer. Bards tale wasn't that good. Maybe I got some of the bad batch. One would be too fizzy then the next one flat. So I'm hoping this New Grist will be good. I really miss beer.

I am going to go to my local liquor store today and ask them about carrying New Grist. If enough people start asking around maybe it will get things moving.

Again.................REALLY MISS BEER.

Hi Diana, they have just started carrying Ramapo Valley at the Beverly Wine and Beer store in North Beverly. I don't know if this is close to you at all, but I was very excited!

I've had the Ramapo Valley gluten-free beer and it is very sweet. Its made from honey & molasses. My suggestion is to put a lime / lemon in it like you would a Corona. That made it taste a lot better. I drank about 8 of them on Super Bowl sunday so I can say I enjoyed it.

I agree, it's very sweet, great idea to try the lime...it's just nice to have it around.

If you call Ramapo they will give you a list of their distributors, as well as their contact there. I have visited their website, but it is under construction. Give them a call, the girl was very friendly that I spoke to. B)

Wow up in Beverly eh? What's their price point? I work for a beverage industry trade publication and website in Cambridge, MA and I will be writing an article on the unmet need for gluten-free beer. The publication reaches about 20,000 individual retailers and distributors across the US. The big guys here in Boston should def stock the New Grist, RPV, Bard's - problem is getting one of the distributors here to pick it up. We are also featuring New Grist in our new product's section so that will give them lots of exposure. It's certainly a hot niche catergory in the beer industry. Lakefront is sending us a case of their New Grist and I've heard that right now that demand is so high they can't keep up with supply. I am also a celiac and in my former life (before diagnosis that is...) was a beer drinker. I am also working with Beveragesdirect.com for them to start selling New Grist via mail order in the next month or so. Good things ahead!

I actually went to Beverly today and bought their last six pack of Ramapo. It was like $9.50.

The guy I spoke to said they were getting more in today and as long as the demand is there they will keep stocking it.

Please keep us up to date on the progress. I think you're my new best friend!

Max, working on it hehe!!! Moongirl, nice work! The new Whole Foods on Cambridge Street (right near Mass General) has a great selection as does Trader Joe's. I've tried to get Martignetti's in the North End to look into gluten-free beer as well as Charles Street Liquors in Beacon Hill but haven't had much luck as there aren't any distributors carrying the gluten-free products. That will change very soon I hope!

Thanks,

looks like it might be happening, :D i think they are going to do a test to see how it does, so if you live around Rt 9 in chestnut hill/Newton.... (when the stuff comes in i will let you know, they have to work out details) go to OMNI FOODS Open Original Shared Link and get you gluten-free beer....

Its confirmed the gluten-free beer should be arriving in the next couple weeks at Omni Foods, so if you live around the Chestnut Hill/Newton location, go pick some up to support it, so they will keep bringing in more!!! :D

I can't wait! I'm not familiar with that area. Is it easy to get to from 93?

I used to work for a wine and liquor distributor in ny (in between jobs currently) and I would say 90% of the liquor store owners would go out of their way to special order different wines/liquors for their customers. You just have to make a point to talk to them and show that you WILL DEFINITELY be back to purchase the gluten-free beer. Few owners will make you put down a deposit, but just make sure you establish a connection with the owner/buyer. Good luck!

Because you have already had the "gold standard" test done, and because you have some experiential evidence that removing gluten from your diet causes you to feel better, it would make sense to begin the gluten-free diet as you wait for biopsy results.

I wasn't given any blood tests. I think I should try the gluten free diet because when I cut it out a few weeks ago for just a couple of days, I know I started feeling better. The difference was actually pretty dramatic. When I learned gluyen free earing may cause false negative biopsy results, I went back to gluten full force and feel like you know what × 10. Do you feel it would be okay since the gold standard for diagnosis is behind me or should I wait for biopsy results? In your opinion, of course. I know you can't offer me medical advice.

My mom said when he was born "you got what you gave".  Until 5 years of he was gluten free, was well liked by his friends, although did get them into mischief at times, a leader of his group of friends, physically active and paid attention, as much as any preschooler.      At 5 years old we moved to my hometown and had to rely on our friends, my pediatrition (still the best doctor I ever had), my wife was a nurse so her aquaintences and doctor friends.  They all still believed back in 1980's that Celiac was a growing phase, and he wanted to be like everyone else.  So everyone's opinion was that if he tolerates gluten with no symptoms he had outgrown it.  He passed the summer at the beach...

I feel for you. I've had an interesting history with some vaccine, especially t-DAP. One time after just getting it, I remember walking from the pharmacy to my car, reaching for the door handle of my car as my last memory, then waking up slumped into my car with the door wide open hours later. Nobody even knew I was there. I did get a bad cut from rotting rusty wood and probably animal droppings, and it had been 10 years, so I got a booster recently, but took someone with me. My doc back then did say he was concerned about my reactions to vaccines, but we never talked about what alternatives there might be. What is your risk when you do get sick? For me, I almost always end...

That's what came immediately to my mind as well, Bell's palsy. And don't assume every medical problem is connected to her celiac disease as there is still something known as coincidence. Get this checked out by medical professionals and push for some serious testing. Don't let them brush you off. Be appropriately assertive.
