6 months since I got diagnosed, gotten more sensitive to cross-contamination

Hello guys! I started my glutenfree diet 6months ago. Its been a rollercoaster. Now it seems I come to a place where im becoming more and more sensitive to cross-contamination. Thats probably normal I guess?

Lately I've had symptoms like i am being glutened almost weekly, and sometimes more times per week. I cant understand how, but are believing its our pets. Cause I know what im eating should be safe. I even wash everything just to be sure (started to become over dramatic, but all I want is to feel good for a while)

I live in a house with 15 cats, that all eat gluten dried cat food. They jump on kitchen counters, in sofas, tables and all around the house. The woman im living with is breeding cats. Im starting to believe the cats are the reason for my "symptoms" lately. Cause I can feel things start go go better for a few days, then suddenly it feels like I have been glutened through the air. Like an invisible gluten.

I see no other option right now, than to move to another location for a couple of months to see things get better there. Our house is like a yard with cats. Anyone also might agree its probably the cats? The stomach cramps and symptoms im having is similar to what I could feel if I got accidently glutened, but with a small amount. It does however almost last for 24hours, and sometimes longer.

I hope i'm able to figure this out guys! People around me are starting to think im crazy ;X (and im second questioning myself too, but im still having symptoms like im glutened, and the cats are eating dried food filled with wheat flour. theres nothing else openly, and not locked downed and sealed that contains gluten)

Sometimes it's not just Celiac that a person is dealing with.  I also have Microscopic Colitis.  The symptoms are the same as Celiac for me.  I go through a flare and don't know if I got glutened or if it's the colitis, which has an elusive cause.  Microscopic colitis is more common in celiac patients than in the general population.  MC is diagnosed by a biopsy of the large intestine during a colonoscopy.

You might be right. I'll look into it. I do not have much diarrhea tho. Got more stomach cramps and heart burn. Also brain fog and fatigue... It usually resolves after 24-48hours, then I can be good for a while, maybe a few days. And suddenly I get hit again. Am I going crazy, or can it be the cats? They are actually all over this place eating gluten dried cat food :o I just wished there could be an answer for what I need to do :D

I have one cat and was using a wheat based cat litter (Swheat Scoop).  I noticed an increase in my symptoms during the 2 weeks it was in my house.   With as many cats as you live with and the way they walk all over everything, it could be your problem.  Cats also lick themselves a lot, so there could be gluten on the fur and if you pet them, perhaps you're getting glutened that way,

Yeah I believe so too. Although im not touching them any more, but I do use the same sofa and other areas of the house a lot with or without them. Anyways, im guessing the only chance I have to find out if this actually works is by trying to move out for a while and see if the symptoms relieve. I do have a chance to live closeby in an appartment for a few months. To check for improvement...

There’s a Cosco in Auckland in New Zealand. It’s a bit away from where I live but it’s worth the travel for me. Very appreciative of your advice.

It seems you have proven that you cannot eat gluten.  You've done what your doctors have not been able to do in 40 years. That's your low vitamin D, a common symptom with Celiac Disease.  Zinc is also a common defiency.  Its an antiviral.  that's why zinc gluconate lozenges work against airborne viruses.  Vitamin D and the Immune System+ Toe cramps, I find 250 mg of Thiamine helps.   When I started GFD I counted 19 symptoms going back to childhood that improved with Gluten Free Diet and vitamin D. I still take 10,000 IU a day to maintain 80 ng/ml and get it tested 4 times a year. Highest was 93 ng/ml and that was at end of summer.  Any excess is stored in fat or excreted through bile.   The western diet is deficient in many nutrients including choline and iodine.  Thats why processed foods are fortified.  Celiac Disease causes malabsorption of vitamins and minerals from the small intestine damage.  GFD stops the damage, but you will still have symptoms of deficiency until you get your vitamins repleted to normal.  Try to reduce your omega 6:3 ratio.  The Standard American Diet is 14:1 or greater.  Healthy is 3:1.  Wheat flour is 22:1.  Potatoes are 3:1 while sweet potatoes are 14:1.  So those sweet potatos that everyone says is better than Russet: they are increasing your inflammation levels.

Hello, Target recently changed their branding on the Up & Up Loratadine and no long have it labeled gluten free. I've not been able to find any meds labeled gluten free for allergies. Some lists showed them but the the packaging isn't labeled.  Wondering if anyone knows of or has a list that would be safe for Celiac kiddos.

My mother also has celiac disease, and one of her symptoms for many years before her diagnosis was TMJ. I believe it took her many years on a gluten-free diet before this issue went away.

Ear pain and ringing your entire life may or may not be TMJ related but could be something else. A good TMJ exam would be helpful to rule that out as a potential cause from a dentist who treats that. I have teens as well as adults of all ages who suffer from TMJ issues so it’s not a certain age when it shows up.
