With the passage of time after going gluten free, we tend to react more intensely when we do get glutened. We eventually lose all tolerance to it that we may once have had when consuming it regularly. -

Welcome to the forum, @mswhis! They may be related in the sense of both are autoimmune disorders and autoimmune disorders tend to cluster. If you have an autoimmune disorder, you are likely to develop others. But I would hesitate to say there is a cause and effect relationship between the two or that gluten could be contributing to your IC. It is certainly... -

I remember reading about a passenger who was served the wrong food on a plane and reacted so badly to gluten they ended up having to sue the airline for the medical expenses incurred whilst in the States, where they were hospitalised on arrival.
