There is a strong correlation between type 1 diabetes and celaic disease. In fact, doctors are beginning to routinely check for celiac disease when a patient presents with type 1 diabetes.

With type 2 diabetes, there is no established link with celiac disease but there may be a connection indirectly through obesity.

"There is no established link between type 2 diabetes and celiac disease. Type 2 diabetes does have genetic components, but they are not associated with celiac disease genes like type 1 diabetes. It is common for patients with celiac disease to be overweight, with one study showing 40% of patients with celiac disease being overweight at diagnosis and 13% in the obese range, which puts them at a higher risk for type 2 diabetes. The gluten-free diet can often be low in fiber, and many processed gluten-free products have an increased glycemic index with increased fat and less protein compared to gluten containing meals. I recently reduced my carbs to <40 grams a day (mostly). Cannot tolerate the drugs, and they did not lower glucose, six months on metformin turned me into a zombie. It took three weeks for the side effects to go away completely.

Meantime I haveFamilial Hypercholesterolemia .  Just a few weeks now and both Chloresterol and Triglycerides dropped 50 points from 300 each.  BP with Clonidine is down from over 150/75 to between 125/65 to as low as 99/46 once. Clonidine is FDA approved for teens with ADHD.  The BP effect is off label, I think, and is used in the ER to quickly lower BP. Lisinopril gave me an inguinal hernia. Chlorthalidine had me walking bent over like a 90 year old with a cane.  One dose away from a wheelchair. Similar effect of several other diuretics.

Odd thing. Starting with a baseline of 189 mg/dl at 6 am I drank 30 ounces of Red Bull ( 50 grams added sugar).  As expected glucose at 8 am was 232 mg/dl. Then an hour later at 9 am it was 109 mg/dl.  Lowest I've seen in over a year.  Other foods with carbs but no added sugar, and also extended fasting causes it to go up and stay up. 

It seems my insulin works well with sugar but not any other carbohydrates but my "glucose thermostat" is set at 180 instead of 90 mg/dl. 

Maybe because sugar is instantly available in the blood while other carbs have to be broken down first. In any case it doesn't fit the explanations everyone is making up about "insulin resistance" as the cause and the validity of glycemic index. It went up 52 and came down 123.

      Well I had a moment yesterday morning where I accidentally gave her gluten. She wanted what I was eating and I forgot and let her have a few bites of toast. It was a really bad night last night with her behavior. Will a few bites of bread influence their behavior that much or could it just be a coincidence?

      The first set of results show two positive results for celiac disease, so at the very least it looks like you could have it, or at the least NCGS.   Approximately 10x more people have non-celiac gluten sensitivity than have celiac disease, but there isn’t yet a test for NCGS. If your symptoms go away on a gluten-free diet it would likely signal NCGS.

      I called zero water and they state their filters do not contain gluten or gluten containing ingredients.

      I agree. Doesn't look like you have celiac disease. Your elevated DGP-IGG must be due to something else. And it was within normal at that after your gluten challenge so it is erratic and doesn't seem to be tied to gluten consumption.
