I found this and thought I would share. I thought it was a great idea and even though it is based in NY, the bears travel all over the country. Just thought it might be something fun for the children (and the kids at heart) on here to look into...

What a truly wonderful idea!

That is so neat. How exciting that would be for a child - to feel connections with other Celiac children. Hope you do this and can then report on it.

that is so awesome!

We are thinking about having a bear come to visit our celiac kids group in the Kansas City area.

I think the kids would love it.

Looking forward to sharing this with the other kids as I am a facilator for the kids group.

We did this in Dec - my daughter loved it! The bear went everywhere with us for 3 days. He even did yoga with her and came with us to one of the GFRAP restaurants! After we sent the bear back I went to build-a-bear to buy the same one that visited her because she was so sad to see him go and wanted to keep him with her. It was a great experience and gave us the opportunity to educate the kids in her class (1st grade), as well as her teachers. I highly recommend it.

I am not taking anything except for the multivitamins that I purchased from the supermarket.

The critic acid and sodium citrate is corn unfortunately and they don’t have to label corn because it’s not part of the top 9 allergen and not mandatory 😭

Yaya, from the JAMA study you refer to: "Taking 60,000 international units (IU) a day of vitamin D for several months has been shown to cause toxicity." No one on this forum is recommending  taking anywhere near that amount. We're talking about 5-10,000IU daily.

"Doses higher than the RDA are sometimes used to treat medical problems such as vitamin D deficiency, but these are given only under the care of a doctor for a specified time frame. Blood levels should be monitored while someone is taking high doses of vitamin D." Quoted from the Healthline article @Yaya linked above...
