Low Carnitine?

Can low Carnitine be associated with Celiac?  My toddler tested low for Carnitine and has other indicators which seem to be pointing towards celiac.  Has anyone heard of this before?

Yes, low carnitine levels can sometimes be associated with celiac disease, especially in children. Celiac disease can lead to malabsorption issues, which might affect the absorption of various nutrients, including carnitine. Carnitine is important for energy production, and deficiencies can occur if the gut is damaged from undiagnosed or untreated celiac disease. It's great that you're looking into this. If your toddler has other signs of celiac, it might be worth discussing with your doctor about getting tested for celiac disease to ensure proper diagnosis and treatment.

      My feeling is that histamine intolerance/MCAS is doesn't get enough press in the medical world and is greatly underdiagnosed.

      Have you heard anything about being celiac and pills, vitamins not absorbing into your system? I hope that makes sense. Basically, you don’t get the full effect. There is something that helps the absorption, like Vit C?? Thanks for all of your help.

      Prana Organics no longer GFCO-certified

      Updating to note that it has been over a month since I initially wrote Prana and they haven't provided a response to my question about what testing limits (ppm) they use now. I've sent them a couple reminder emails but nothing. Booo.
