Couple of balls found on my stomach

Hello everyone,

im new here, sorry for my english, is not my first language.

Im writing because a saw your messages about having fatty tissue on your abdomen.

I recently found a couple of balls that feel like veins to the touch in the upper part of my belly buttom (diagonal each side).

i went to the ER and they dont know what it is, I have an appointment with a surgeon to see what kind of images he would like.

At first it just looked like I was gaining weight, two spots that looked like cellulite type skin (im not overweight) but had a 10 pound baby and have diastisis.

But now I touch it and feels like bumps, and hurts like a bruise to the toach. Now I move and feel it and am aware of it all the time. When I sit down I also feel it a lot.

I had a rash on top of it for a day which later on disappeared.

I also have been having an upset stomach with some nausea. I dont know if is a coincidence.

Im scared. Anybody else with these? Can I share pictures?

thank you !

Hello @Pgomez300 and welcome to the forum!

Firstly, I ought to say I am not medically qualified.

However, I remember asking my GP about lumps in my abdomen.  They were very noticeable when I lost a lot of weight when I was first ill with coeliac disease.  She laughed and said, "It's fat!"  Oddly enough a friend of mine has just found a very large lump near her belly button and the diagnosis was a lipoma, a fatty lump, too.

So what you are noticing might be that.  Or you could also have an umbilical hernia, which is what I have too.  It hasn't changed in years, it's fatty tissue rather than my gut and if I put on weight or am wearing too tight clothes sometimes I have pain there.

The fact you have a rash there might just be coincidental?

I am a great worrier when I get weird symptoms.  So I get that you are worried, but try not to. 🤗 There could be some really simple explanations.

But obviously, not being a doctor we cannot make that call.  Well done for getting it checked out. Do let us know how you get on.

If you believe that the rash or other symptoms you have might be caused by gluten sensitivity, then perhaps you could ask your doctor to have you screened for celiac disease? Some of the symptoms you mentioned, with the exception of the rash and nausea, don't sound like typical celiac disease symptoms, however, the only way to know for sure would be to get screened.

In answer to your separate question, no images or any other tests were done.

The biopsy looks for damage to the mucosal lining of the small bowel from the inflammation caused by celiac disease when gluten is ingested. Once you remove gluten from the diet, inflammation subsides and the mucosal lining begins to heal.

Our support groups in Iowa have tried for years to educate doctors and resource sites like this one.  We have held yearly conferences with continued education classes.   We have brought in Dr. Murray, Dr. Fasano, Dr. Green and Dr. elliott.  In those many years we may have had 2 doctors attend.  We sent them information, with no response.  I talked to my personal doctor and she said their training for Celiac was to show them a skinny man in boxer shorts and a huge stomach.  Saying if you see this, it is Celiac.  If it isn't in their playbook then they don't care.  Most call it an allergy with no mention of our immune system.  There is so much false information on the internet.  Then people don't understand why they can't get well and are acquiring more immune diseases. I mention this site to everyone.  Scott has working hard for the Celiac community.

If you have DH you will likely also want to avoid iodine, which is common in seafoods and dairy products, as it can exacerbate symptoms in some people. This article may also be helpful as it offers various ways to relieve the itch:

You might also consider a low iodine diet as iodine is know to exacerbate dermatitis herpetiformis. But be careful with that as well as there are health problems that can accrue from iodine deficiency.
