How to choose a Naturopath for 6yr old

Hello forum,

I wondered if there was any advice as to finding a naturopath for my 6yr old. He is ceoliac and been advised to go dairy free too by an NHS dietician. He is on a wait list for an ASD assesment and is low on iron, vit d etc... has a weak immune system or maybe his immune system is just overactive as he is poorly alot. I think we could do with some help supporting his diet.

I am just feeling overwhelmed by all the naturopaths out there, whether I should find someone local, someone who specialises in kids. How do I begin my search? Also it all seems so expensive, but if anyone has success stories this would help me to make this decision.

Has your son been tested for nutritional deficiencies?  Celiac Disease causes malabsorption of essential nutrients which can result in nutritional deficiencies.  Supplementing with essential vitamins and minerals is beneficial.  

I would find a nutritionist more knowledgeable about Celiac and ASD, before taking herbal supplements that don't contain essential vitamins.

thank you knitty kitty. I will give those articles a read. Yes he is deficient in Iron and Vit D, that is all they tested for.

Do you have any tips for finding a pediatric nutritionalist? He has an NHS dietician who has been helpful sending me generalised info on increasing Iron and cutting out dairy but they won't see him now for another year and I feel like I need more support than that...

I am a UK based coeliac and I have used a private nutritionist a few times.

She is very highly qualified and having just googled her details, she is listed on this website (see link).  For that reason, I think you could trust the listings here as I am quite sure she would not want to associate with this website unless it was a professional, trustworthy resource.
