HI, I had posted on the coping board that I'm not going to be doing the Celiac diet anymore. Now, about three days later, I have this rash on the inner upper part of my thighs. When I've had this before, the doc has had me put the anti fungal cream on it used for athlets foot. It does help with the itching, but that's about it. Maybe I"ll be back on the Celiac diet before I have a better attitued next week.

Mine looks exactly like the picture of the abdomine from the link Ursula shared.

Nicole

Nicole, I had the absolute ITCHIEST rash on my thighs, abdomen, chest, arms off and on for 20 years and used all kinds of cremes, lotions, spent oodles on dermatologists and the only thing that got rid of it completely was going gluten-free. It did take 2 months until it was all gone, and I did feel worse sometimes before I got better(-stomach-wise, and had night sweats and hot flushes,) but that all faded after a couple of months. I still have issues, but thank-you-God, that horrible itch is gone. Try gluten-free again, and a lotion that is soothing I tried is called Respite. Also for severe itching I used something called Itch-x . These were otc, I hated the steriod cremes. (The Itch-x does burn, but it sure beats itching in my opinion) Take care and please try going really strict for a couple months gluten-free and see if it helps. Sometimes you feel worse before it gets better, but once you are over that "hump" you will feel better.

Well, the Rheumy said it looked like Candida and sent me to get Tetrazol, which has helped. And she said "get back on the gluten diet" and it'll be interesting to see how quickly it clears up..becuase I've been known to have it for weeks over the years.

I am doing better and back on the diet.

Still working on the attitude.

Good for you Nicole on getting back on the diet. I sure that goes away soon, I can really relate to having a rash there. I have had one there before many times. I found sticking to this better the second time around, especially when I get really sick from just a few crimes.

Hi Nicole,

I don't believe it's candida. Maybe you should get a skin biopsy? If you get diagnosed with DH (if that is what it is, but if it isn't, that would be a little too much of a coincidence, as you JUST started eating gluten again!), you're automatically diagnosed with Celiac disease. By the way, I used to get the same problem, especially in the summer when sweating. We'll see how this coming summer will be.

Oh, @Yaya! Five years???  How awful for you to suffer so long! My Vitamin D came up in a matter of months.  High dose Vitamin D has been used in the past to correct rickets and is a safe method to correct Vitamin D deficiency.   I took 1000 IU several times a day, every day for several weeks.  I ate them like m&m's when I was severely deficient.  My brain craved them.  I felt so much better afterwards.  On maintenance dose now.  Yes, the craving went away as my level reached 80-95.   Ask your cardiologist about supplementing with.Benfotiamine.

@CeliacPsycho246, My OCD symptoms resolved after I took supplements of the active form of Pyridoxine B6 called P5P and L-Theanine, an amino acid.   Pyridoxine B6 is absorbed from foods or supplements and then must be changed to its active form.  P5P is the active form.  Inflammation and malabsorption can impede this process.  Taking the active form is beneficial because it is ready to be used immediately.   L-Theanine is a natural amino acid that helps immensely with anxiety.   Together these two supplements really work to relieve OCD. I like Life Extension brand of P5P, but there are others that are labeled gluten free, too.  L-Theanine is found in chocolate, but as much as I love chocolate, Theanine  supplements work better.   Hope you are open to trying these as a stop-gap until your doctor's appointment.  Keep us posted on your results.

You can search this site for prescriptions medications, but will need to know the manufacturer/maker if there is more than one, especially if you use a generic version of the medication: To see the ingredients you will need to click on the correct version of the medication and maker in the results, then scroll down to "Ingredients and Appearance" and click it, and then look at "Inactive Ingredients," as any gluten ingredients would likely appear there, rather than in the Active Ingredients area. https://dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/dailymed/

One positive blood test result means you likely have celiac disease, but to confirm it they may want to do an endoscopy to verify it with biopsies. Unless you have severe symptoms now, you likely should continue eating gluten daily until all testing is completed, and should eat tons of gluten daily in the 2 weeks before an endoscopy.
