OMGsh! I did something terrible!  :( I went to get frozen yogurt today with my friends after we went to color me mine. I am now paying miserably! Ugh! I was doing SO GREAT with no sugar/starch until that. Well, I guess at least it's gluten-free, df, sf. Sigh.

And, my friend made me gluten-free cupcakes and I think I should just throw them away because I don't want to me tempted. Bummer. :(

rpm,

I think the person that Rachel and Donna see for bioset does a lot more than anyone else (I forget what Rachel had said that Anna does that others don't). You'd have to check what all they do if you go to see a bioset practitioner.

Kassandra,

Sorry about the yogurt. :( Could you freeze the cupcakes?

Rpm999 Contributor

ah really, hmm well i'm calling the place tommorow, is there anything specific i should ask if they do?

Kassandra, I think the Lyme can make you react to sugar because I told my LLMD that I totally disregarded the sugar-free diet in December. He thought it was significant that I felt fine after eating it. (I still do .... ). I eat very, very well, but I like a piece of chocolate after dinner. To me, I'm Racheling it ... the equivalent of two or three Hershey Nuggets.

Other than that, I'm eating organic healthy food (chicken, eggs, veggies, Ezekiel Bread, etc.), fruit/whey smoothies, carrot/celery/cucumber/beet juice, etc.

Earlier on in treatment, I would allow myself a monthly binge ... I usually felt kinda bad afterward .... so it was usually a small binge.

I'm feeling a little sluggish/symptomatic today ... but I did the metals last night with the laser, and have taken 45 min. saunas three days in a row .... I've also been very busy lately. :)

I started working for Adam today .... three half-days per week. I'll be doing job take-offs and quotes (nothing stressful) ... I really need to get my mind working again, and after last year's medical bills, we could also use the money to replenish the savings. :)

Carla, I think it is fantastic that you feel good enough to work part time! Yay!

Rachel, I am also rather disappointed not to see more of the tapeworm...because I wanted evidence that I actually was rid of it. However, I only saw that one two inch piece. I am guessing that it all breaks down. I'd like to pass it whole, along with all its mercury kept inside, LOL!

Me, too. I didn't used to work, pre-Lyme, I did lots of volunteer work (with youth groups).

The first time I saw mine was when I saw the majority of it and it definitely looked tapeworm-ish.

After that, it was more "digested", but still looked different from, well, the rest of the stuff.

I don't have a long "transit time", LOL, so if you are both the type to tend toward constipation, maybe you also have better digestion ... though that doesn't make sense since both of you had malabsorption. Hmmm.

After a month of worrying about how Alinia will go...its been pretty uneventful.

I never got any horrible die-off or any other problems. The first pill gave me the burning sensations/itching...but the rest of the pills gave me no noticeable reaction...other than fatigue.

I was hoping to see cobra in his grave...I was gonna throw some beef and peas on him. :P

No such luck though...Is it possible he could die and disappear without me ever seeing him??

Since I'm on the C side...I wonder if it might take longer to pass anything....(if there is anything to pass).

I wonder how long it should take for me to notice improvement if the med killed anything off.

I've been waiting for the post that tells us you "buried him".

April and Rpm, I still haven't heard back any info about ART referrals, as soon as I do I will let you know.

We all slip up once in a while, we're human. Can you take charcoal for the unpleasant symptoms? Just get back on track tomorrow.

Speaking of charcoal, I am in love. Ode to charcoal :lol:

Omgosh, I wish I would have found this years ago. All those days of suffering with symptoms could have been avoided. I read about it in health books, but I was always hesitant to try it, it sounded llike a scary substance.

If I only knew!

Funny thing about charcoal ... an old remedy that my grandmother would use is to burn toast, then scrape off the burnt part in a warm cup of water to be sipped. It would help when you had an upset stomach.

SAME idea as charcoal, and so simple!

Unless you had Celiac! LOL!

Yea, that's GREAT Carla you're working! So exciting! I actually have felt a lot better, like pretty functional 3-4 days a week, so it's nice. For me it's the B12 shots because my numbers were on the low side of normal, but now they're nice and high! :D:)

Everyone,

I still am feeling pretty nauseated from the yogurt. It's really hard because with the Mepron, I need fatty meals 2x daily to take it and I get really bad GI symptoms from fats, which I never noticed, but instinctually I always avoided fatty foods. Now I know why. ;)

I also haven't herxed much, if at all on the Mepron, but I bet I'll eat my words. I think my body takes a while to recognize that it's being given medication! LOL!

Also, on a totally random note, I spent almost 2 hours cleaning my bathroom (what used to be mine and my brothers, but now only mine) and we bought all new towels, toothbrush holders, etc. It looks SO good! And, stays REALLY clean! LOL!

covsooze Enthusiast

As well as having an ode to charcoal, maybe we should have a requiem to cobra! :P

Julie - how long have you been taking the charcoal? I've just started it to, but not noticed much difference. What symptoms are you finding it's helping with?

Carla - great to hear you're well enough to be taking on work :)

I'm off to the GP's in a few minutes. I requested copies of my blood tests (to give to Dr P) which they are required to give by law, no qus asked, but my GP has asked me to see him before he gives them to me  I would kick up a fuss and remind him that I'm a lawyer lol, but I don't think it's a good idea to upset you're GP...

I have a few questions, i hope someone might now. My uncles brother was talking about seeing an detox dr to detox cause he has maylaria(spelling wrong i know) and ancient orange. Could an detox person help with this. I guess two other people were talking to hubby about this yesterday at work to and he was like well my wife does some detox at home, so he told them about the baths and lemon water, so of course they want to try them.

But i was thinking an fir sauna would help him, or would that be bad for him. And what kind of dr would be the best for him to see, he is willing to see any kind if there is a chance he can get somewhat better.

When he gets sick he gets really bad, he has had bells palsy from an bad infection, he has been tested for lyme and negative. i made him do that when he got bells.

any help would be appreciated

Paula, there is a man named Harvey Diamond who got agent orange in Vietnam. He doesn't take any medications for it and still lives a normal life with it. He is the guy of "Fit for Life" fame.

I ate his way of eating for years and years, and that was the time I was in remission. I am sure that played a role in keeping me there.

I got so sick though, that I could not eat all the raw veggies .... but I get my braces off in two weeks and plan to go back to a modified variation of his diet (I need protein, so some meals will have protein and carbs, but I'll still try to be 50% raw and properly eat fruit).

He has a my space. Search for him there ..... I think it would be a big help for your brother as this guy is living with the same thing.

Also, his brother had terminal cancer and now is in remission from this way of eating. It's cleansing.

Artemisia is a chinese herb used for malaria .... I took it three months on, one month off, up till recently. I got Dr. Zhang's artemisia.

Paula, I read all three of his books. I don't particularly like his sarcasm, but I did get a lot from following the diet. His third book is about the stages of disease and detoxing ... well, all three are about the diet and detoxing.

Even Dr. Cowden recommends a 50% raw diet .... I found that out at www.betterhealthguy.com ... his recent article.

I just can't eat much raw food with these dang braces ..... which are coming off two weeks from Thursday!!

i've said this many times, but i had a cat scan dye (radioactive medicine) and since then i've been really sick, with some things like flushness, sleep issues, increase of neuro issues...even some new things....and that was about a month ago...could a possibly be if i had impaired detox pathways? cause i can't see what else, an allergic reaction would be far gone so it must be still in my system since it's like the same flushness i had when it was injected into me...may sound strange but hey, what can i say...i ALSO first started getting sick much long ago when i had a severe swallowing attack that stir up an acid reflux attack, so it wouldn't surprise me if that could have backed up in places like the liver too and i guess that from the get go could have effected that....i'm just so lost, i was at least going out before i had the dye but it messed me up so bad that i'm just totally out of it and have no clue what it could be/what to ask....but that's the most sensible thing to me at least

Well, I certainly wouldn't be surprised if the dye kicked things off in the worst way. I'm not sure I can answer your question because I don't know for sure, but it seems to me that if you cannot detox properly the dye would definitely stay in there longer than it should or would in another person.

Get rid of the cupcakes, lol! Did I mention here that I ate a gluten free, casein free, soy free candy bar on Saturday. I just meant to eat 1/4 or 1/2 of it, but darned if I just stuffed the whole thing in my mouth. I felt MISERABLE afterwards! Absolutely miserable for HOURS afterwards. THAT made me recommit with a vengence. So far so good...2.3 days down, lol.

i asked rachel, but let me ask this to you too since your illness list looks like an essay LOL

i've said this many times, but i had a cat scan dye (radioactive medicine) and since then i've been really sick, with some things like flushness, sleep issues, increase of neuro issues...even some new things....and that was about a month ago...could a possibly be if i had impaired detox pathways? cause i can't see what else, an allergic reaction would be far gone so it must be still in my system since it's like the same flushness i had when it was injected into me...may sound strange but hey, what can i say...i ALSO first started getting sick much long ago when i had a severe swallowing attack that stir up an acid reflux attack, so it wouldn't surprise me if that could have backed up in places like the liver too and i guess that from the get go could have effected that....i'm just so lost, i was at least going out before i had the dye but it messed me up so bad that i'm just totally out of it and have no clue what it could be/what to ask....but that's the most sensible thing to me at least

It could be that your body was just below the breaking point and the dye sent it over the edge. I don't know what's in that dye but it doesn't sound good :(. I have read where people take iodine before and after any radioactive testing or x-rays to protect the thryoid.

It could have been hard on your liver and now your liver is having a hard time detoxing. The charcoal might help. It does absorb a lot although not everything. I have a good article on it and what its good for at home. Also, maybe some liver support??

It was sort of a similar situation with me. I believe my detox pathways were sluggish and when I tried to detox on my own and released all kinds of toxins, it just clogged them further and now I am very sensitive to anykind of pollutants. But, my bucket was already almost full before, that situation just sent it over the edge.

The only thing I am doing right now is dry skin brushing, lemon water, charcoal, iodine, liver supporting supplements and saunas. This keeps my symptoms at bay - but they are always there ready to come out :o This is until I get my testing back and figure out what my next step is.

ShadowSwallow Newbie

Rpm,

It definitely sounds like your detox organs were already stressed/sluggish and the CAT scan stuff pushed your body overboard.

Kassandra,

Yay for having more energy! (And for things going well with your brother at the facility :)). Yes, toss away that cupcake! :P

Carla,

Congratulations on getting your braces removed so soon!!! :D :D

April,

I know you asked a while ago what other minerals my ionic magnesium has in it. It has: chloride, sodium (very little, though), potassium (again, very little), sulfate, and boron.

Everyone,

It turns out that the ART practitioner is too far away. I am going to be emailing him for a referral in my area. I'm having some problems with my parents, though. :( Dad, on one hand, thinks I'm a hypochondriac and Mom thinks that I should be able to function like wonderwoman and doesn't understand the major fluctuations in my energy level/wellbeing. :( It's frustrating, and I'm in my part of the month where I feel horrible again! <_<

I called the LLMD and asked them to fax the LapCorp info that they should have received by mail. Nothing came through. <_< I'm going to be seeing him in 3 weeks, but those labs need to be there for that appointment!

Also, I took some olive leaf last night and within a half-hour had a lot of nausea and my stomach started doing D growls at me. I took a charcoal last night, though, and there's been no more signs of that.

mftnchn Explorer
Julie - how long have you been taking the charcoal? I've just started it to, but not noticed much difference. What symptoms are you finding it's helping with?

S x

I'll add in as I use it regularly. It reduces my lyme symptoms/herx symptoms. Most recently I have been taking 2-3 when I wake up in the middle of the night, or even set an alarm to get up and take it. Now, Dr. E. wants me to take 3 at bedtime. I also take it again if I start to have symptoms. Just keep it away from other meds/supplements. (I try for 2 hours on either side, but that is hard in the daytime.)

My first thought is that testing negative for lyme is not conclusive, which is why it is a clinical diagnosis. Secondly, I'd want to be sure he was tested at Igenex lab.

I'd suggest he see a really good LLMD, and then perhaps someone who is really good at ART and ASYRA. This would help pinpoint his problems and what meds or supplements he might best tolerate.

About the charcoal, well I took it during my last angioedema outbreak and it really minimized my symptoms through that. I'd say it's been almost a month.

I haven't taken it regularly beyond that, only after I have eaten something that isn't agreeing with me. Maybe 3-4 times a week. I just take 2 at bedtime.

It definitely breaks up and absorbs gas, and minimizes or eliminates a lot of other digestive/intestinal symptoms.

The biggest thing though I have noticed is I don't have those symptoms the next day I would usually have. Typically when I am reacting to something I have eaten I experience the worst of it the following day, most of the symptoms that began initially in the stomach and intestinal tract have moved to all over my body, I feel hung over (light headed, dizzy, full in the head, etc) , I have fibro symptoms, I have major all over body edema, my face swells, etc.

When I take the charcoal all of the above is to a much lesser degree, if not eliminated all together.

Birdy, I think it's a very good idea to contact the ART practitioner for a referral. Don't give up on it, someone is bound to give you a lead.

It's also so crucial to have a support system at home. Sorry you are having to battle with that, on top of everything else you are going through. If you can communicate and bring everyone together on the same page it would really be helpful.

Carla, YAY on the braces.

Susie, I hope all goes well with your GP and you are able to get your bloodwork tests without too much of a fuss :)

Donna, bummer on the candy bar :( BUT congrats on getting back on track and making it 3 days so far. That's usually the hardest part, that first step. Keeping with it, well that's another story, but I'm behind ya all the way :)

And when I say behind you, I mean I'm only starting out on day 1

AndreaB Contributor

Birdy,

I hope you get a referral to a good ART practitioner nearer to you.

Susie,

That is irritating having to go in for paperwork. I hope all goes ok.

Kassandra,

Yay on new things for the bathroom. :)

Carla,

Yay on working part time. :)

I forget if I wanted to comment on anything else.....

I agree about getting him checked out by an LLMD. I think that they're just really thorough doctors, and that's something most Dr's aren't!

Thanks, I LOVE my new towels and bath mats, etc. Also, YAY on the braces! :D

Birdy,

I am sorry you're having a hard time with your parents. That really does suck. :( I understand....my mom now will tell anyone that Dr. H is the best decision we EVER made! :D:P She didn't think I had Lyme or that we needed to see an LLMD. Now she is VERY happy! :D:)

Everyone,

I have to go get my car worked on today. Ugh...I hate going there. <_< Let's hope they don't try to rip me off too badly. Lol!

Thanks, @trents. That was what I was thinking of as well, but I'm a huge worrier and keep doubting if it was right thing to do so it seemed better to ask more experienced people. My diet won't be 100% gluten free unfortunately, but I'm thinking of using it as an opportunity to keep a food log and try to see what makes things worse.

Her Dr gave her meds for the ulcers and recommend the genetic blood test to rule out celiac. Got those results and the hla-dq2 is positive the hla-dq8 is negative. So I’m not sure what this all means. Waiting to hear from the Dr again. She has been eating gluten and did say she got bad stomach pain again the other day but it hasn’t happened in a few weeks so I’m not sure if it’s from gluten or the ulcers.

Here’s the answer from the company 😊   Hi Emily,    Thank you for reaching out to us! We can confirm the Organic Protein + 50 Superfoods Powder is gluten free. The organic barley and wheatgrasses we use are harvested prior to jointing, before the grain forms and any gluten protein is present. Rest assured appropriate measures are taken to ensure our gluten free products comply with the FDA final rule to be labeled as gluten free, as claimed on the side-panel label. Our suppliers are required to verify each ingredient and in order to ensure that our gluten free products comply with the FDA requirements, our manufacturing facilities use the ELISA test method to confirm gluten levels are less than the standard limit of <20 ppm.    If you have allergy concerns about consuming the grasses, we recommend consulting further with your healthcare provider. I hope this information helps! Please let us know if you have other questions.
