Sorry for getting up early for no reason Kassandra.

As Rachel said, many doctors think TSH should be below 1, but the "official" cutoff is more like 4 .... mine was close to the cutoff, so my LLMD diagnosed me hypo thinking my optimal level would be closer to 1 than where it is now.

Donna, take it easy!

Kassandra, congrats on the ecoffee .... if really is no big deal .... and it is not as bad as the stool test (the stool test is WAY grosser!). Do you mean bloated in the stomach? I can tell it's there ..... but generally when I'm bloated I feel it all over, so it depends what you mean.

Today I'm feeling some joint pain in my fingers and knee. Also my back is tired, but Adam and I had a hard game of racquetball .... he was also pretty fatigued afterward, so that part might not be Lyme. I used some glutathione cream like my LLMD told me to do. I'm thinking that I'll take an epsom salt bath today instead of a sauna. I'm concerned because I just got off abx last week ..... I hope this isn't the start of a problem. I have had random symptoms, so I'm hoping that's what it is.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MIA!!!!

Re: Humaworm

Yes, the first couple days make me feel bad. Then during the month I'm on it, I occasionally feel some stomach discomfort, usually in the form of being gassy. Sometimes minor diarrhea. It's not fun taking it, but I had great results the first time.

. .. .

I am allergic to mold, but don't have any problem with the dried herb aspect of the Humaworm.

Like Carla, I had a rough first few days...maybe about 3 I think, but not bad after that. I called and asked them to leave out the sage since I tested positive to that in an allergy test.

Thank you both! :)

I may as well do it & just expect 2 or 3 not-so-good days to start.

[Off to order it!!]

I mean in my stomach. It is slowly going away, but as I was doing the ecoffee my stomach started to bloat.

Carla...I hope you're not having lyme symptoms. I hope they're just "normal" people symptoms.;)

Good luck, Tom! Keep us posted, we're sick that way, like to know everyone's bowel habits, especially if they're interesting!

So, it was still bloated a while afterward? I have not had that. Maybe it's just because it's the first time and you had some toxins to move around.

Thanks. The joint pain was a lyme symptom, I just don't know how relevant it is. Dr. H told me when he cut me back on meds to try the glutathione cream and ecoffee whenever I had lyme symptoms to see if the extra detox would help them go away.

So, today I just took an epsom salt bath .... this morning used ecoffee and glutathione cream ... and now I'm feeling much better, the pain is almost completely gone. It must have had to do with the toxins from the Lyme. I'm just suspicious since this flare happened after stopping abx. Any thoughts guys?

We know I still have plenty of the bacteria, it just is mostly dormant .... hmm, thinking outloud here, I wonder since I'm off abx if more of it is coming out of the cyst form? Perhaps I should have taken that sauna after all, saunas put borrelia into cyst form according to Dr. H!

I didn't want to do the sauna today and stir more up toxins than what was already botherine me though. Plus with all the other detox rituals, it takes so much time! Good thing Kassandra does like to sleep in as it allowed me time to do all this before she was even up!

I hope you've gotten some "alone" time now, Kassandra. I know how you get used to that! I bet it was hard being around so many people ALL the time ... and not one of us is QUIET (except maybe Jack, cause he's adopted, LOL).

1. Yes my stomach was still bloated afterwards. I'll see how it goes next time. I massaged my colon as it apparently helps with getting the toxins out.

2. Maybe a call to Dr H? Just to see if this is normal? I really don't know. But, I'd rather call and have them think I'm overly paranoid than not call and lose lots of the progress you have made. ;) But, that's just me!

3. I LOVE to sleep in! LOL! Ugh, I just realized I have to wake up at like 7.45 to get to STUPID Quest labs so I can have my blood work done! Yucky!

Since I sleep in, by the time I finish my morning routine (breakfast, ecoffee, gym, etc.) it's usually already 12 or 1 in the afternoon, lol.

4. Yes, I have. My mom is gone all day today. I really do need lots of alone time. When I get married...it will be interesting, LOL!;)

I can tolerate just about anything for a limited amount of time. If it was much longer, I would have lost my mind, LOL! When I go on vacation in July, I will have access to a car so I can go get a manicure and pedicure just to clear my mind. Afterall...there will be almost 30 family members! That is a lot for a healthy person, let alone me! LOL!

Yeah I also did a ecoffee yesterday. Yeah I figuered I would video tape it and then I would send the video tape to Donna. :D

About bloating, I don't know, I'm like bloated all the time so I wouldn't even have recognized.

Oh Oh HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY BIRTHDAY MIAMIA.

Kass,

Sorry you go the wrong info from Quest :(

Enemas of any variety always made me bloat too, big time.

I'm the queen of swelling! :P

I never get hives or rashes but just about everything makes my tissue swell.

Oh I have the swellig too, and it doesn't go away. There is absolutely no regulating of fluids going on in my system

Thanks for correcting me on the TSH I was thinking if it were low then it wouldn't be stimulating said thyroid to function, thus a hypothyroid dx :lol:

I'm thinking low thyroid function-->hypothyroid.

Today I'm feeling some joint pain in my fingers and knee. Yes we like hearing about any suspicious creatures of the creepy crawly variety that may or may not be passed!

Hmmm, I don't know Carla but the epsom salts are also good for muscle pain/body pain so maybe taking a bath helped that out a little bit.

I would think that was really helpful, doing a coffee enema and a bath as far as getting most of the stirred up toxins out.

I know what you mean about getting all these detox rituals, fitting in saunas, baths, castor oil packs and/or enemas is quite the juggle.

I'm going to wait a couple days to see what's going on since it's the first time it has happened. He mentioned that there would be flares and what to do about them, so I don't want to call till I know if it's lasting.

This is also my 36 hours off Cumanda/Quina. I alternate those, two weeks for one, two weeks for the other with a 36 hour break in between. So, maybe that break has had an effect, though that seems awfully fast for Lyme.

Don't worry though, I won't wait too long. Adam's tired too from our racquetball games .... he's saying that's what it is ... but I don't buy it, they usually energize me. :D

Right now my only symptom is fatigue, but that could be from the bath.

I think i fiugred out part of the rash, i think my kids have used my loufa sponge with gluten soap. cause i now realize i itch all over, and in the areas i scrub real hard on my skin while in the tub. Or its just the loufa sponge that is making me itch.

I got some cortizone 10 today and i hope it helps some.

You need to take your waking temperature first thing in the morning. It's best taken the first two weeks of your menstrual cycle.

The temps you posted are good ones and do not indicate a thyroid problem .... but your waking temperature may be lower.

Oh, Dr H increased my lyirca dose like crazy! He is making it 4x higher than it is! :o I have to increase slowly, but I hope it doesn't kill me! LOL

Okay, I have a question for all you "e" people... is it normal to have stomach pains? My stomach feels "off" today. I don't know if I ate something strange, or if it's the ecoffee. Hmm

mftnchn Explorer
I had a good appt. with Dr H. I am too tired to type an update now, but I will in a few hours.

All I know is that they put me on A LOT more supplements. Oh Carla...he told me to do Ecoffee NO more than 2x a week.

Donna...I forget my B12 shots a lot of times too, lol! I guess injecting myself isn't memorable enough! LOL!

I agree with everyone how it is different for each of us. I also do ecoffee after a BM--only exception is a very busy morning schedule but that is rare. I do very poorly without it, but have been able to go to twice a week when I am not relapsed...

B12 shot reminders? Here's what I am doing. I have so many pills they don't fit in a pill box. So I bought the small pill ziplocks from Rite Aid. I use 4-5 of those a day, and write on them with a Sharpie what day and what dose. I reuse them too.

Then I put all if these in a snack size ziplock. I can put my estrogen patch in there too, as well as the syringe for my B12 shot (the medicine has to stay in the fridge). This is helping me remember what day to take them and serves as a reminded 4 times a day when I take my pills that day.

I've never gotten that .... but I also don't get bloated like you mentioned.

Sherry, it's good to hear that you've been able to cut back when you were feeling good. I don't think I'm there yet.

I just realized, I started taking the Enula for babesia last night. That could be the cause of my feeling "off" today.

Nyxie,

You can heal leaky gut. I don't know if having lyme makes it harder to heal but L-Glutamine is what I used. Leaky gut can make you react to everything. You probably need a good probiotic too. If you can focus on rebalancing the gut flora and healing leaky gut, a lot of those reactions might not be so bad. That way you can focus more on your other treatments! :)

Am I the only one that has trouble with E-coffee? I cannot hold it in. I just don't know what is wrong with my colon  No one has this problem????? Anything I should be doing to help this problem?

Kassandra,

I have felt "off" after e-coffee before too. It usually passes. Just be sure you are drinking water and you are hydrated beforehand. I have found I felt worse if I was dehydrated beforehand because I guess it can dehydrate you even worse.

CarlaB Enthusiast

Um, yeah, April! The first few times three minutes was about all I could do!

Try using half the coffee, hold 15 minutes, then do the same with the other half. I have to use just slightly less than a quart .... just a tiny bit less, like a quarter cup less .... then I can retain the whole amount. Most days I can hold it for 15 minutes now.

mftnchn Explorer

I haven't had bloating or stomach discomfort after ecoffee, usually it helps those symptoms. But I do feel "off" sometimes afterward.

Ah, Donna, you can't ever cave in....we are having too much fun with it!

Pretty stretched here with FIL back in the hospital, my daughter's engagement party coming up, wedding plans, work, and tracking medical stuff. Trying to read but that's about all I am managing.

i have a question...i saw this in a different thread: My EAV meridian testing showed my body does not want to detox. I tested stressed on most of the detox stuff. Chlorella, act. charcoal, NAC, gulithione, garlic and anything she had on the shelf that would help me detox.

if you have detox issues, what's the best to do then? because i noticed some of that are on the list april takes to help her liver, and i hear a lot about charcoal being good to absorb that, but what's the best to do to make your body less sensitive so it can handle things like that? i'm so confused haha, as i said, my liver came up sluggish but i don't think i can really handle anything at this point right now....ready to go to the hospital as we speak

maybe bioset will help with this and identify what would be a help

you should all feel honored, i've been printing up a lot of what people say to show my mom to try and get her to understand...hell, even a whole rachel message too LOL

confusedks Enthusiast

I did less than a quart of water and only a tablespoon of coffee. I was able to hold it for about 5 minutes (I forgot to bring a clock or timer in, so I'm guessing).

That may be why I was able to hold it for 5 minutes on the first try. I don't know.

AndreaB Contributor

rpm,

I know the gal that Rachel and Donna see can clear pathways. I don't know if everyone who does bioset can though.

ART and LED treatments may also help with that. Not sure otherwise.

So, you have three symptoms of a gluten-related disorder: weight loss, brain fog and lose stools. Of the three, the lose stools that firm up when you cut back on gluten is the only symptom for which you have reasonable cause to assume is connected to gluten consumption since the other two persist when you cut back on gluten. But since you do not have any formal test results that prove celiac disease, you could just as easily have NCGS (Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity). In fact, what testing you have had done indicates you do not have celiac disease. NCGS shares many of the same symptoms of celiac disease but does not damage the lining of the small bowel as does celiac disease. There is no test for it. A diagnosis for NCGS depends on first ruling out celiac disease. It is 10x more common than celiac disease. Some experts feel it can be a precursor to the development of celiac disease. Eliminating gluten is the antidote for both. What muddies this whole question are two things: 1. Lack of official diagnostic data that indicates celiac disease. 2. Your persistence in consuming gluten, even though in smaller amounts. Your anxiety over the insomnia seems to outweigh your anxiety over the weight loss which prevents you from truly testing out the gluten free diet. What other medical testing have you had done recently? I think something else is going on besides a gluten disorder. Have you had a recent CBC (Complete Blood Count) and a recent CMP (Complete Metabolic Panel)? You say you don't believe you have any vitamin and mineral deficiencies but have you actually been tested for any. I certainly would be concerned with that if I was losing weight like you are despite consuming the high amount of calories you are.

Welcome to the forum, @AndiOgris! Recently upgraded guidelines for the "gluten challenge" recommend the daily consumption of at least 10g of gluten for at least 2 weeks to the day of testing to ensure valid testing, either for the antibody testing or the endoscopy/biopsy. 10g of gluten is roughly the amount found in 4-6 slices of wheat bread. So, there is a question in my mind as to whether or not your gluten consumption was intense enough to ensure valid testing the second time around. And was the tTG-IGA the only antibody test that was run? That is far from a comprehensive celiac panel. Concerning your negative biopsy, there is the possibility of patchy damage that was missed due to inadequate sampling as you alluded to. There is also the possibility that the onset of your celiac disease (if you have it) was so new that there had not yet been time to accumulate damage to the small bowel lining. Your total lack of symptoms at the time of diagnosis would seem to support this idea. Having said all that, and this is my informal observation from reading many, many posts like yours over the years, I wonder if you are on the cusp of celiac disease, crossing back and forth across that line for the time being. My suggestion would be to keep a close eye on this for the time being. Watch for the development of symptoms and request a more complete celiac panel a year from now. Here is an article that discusses the various antibody tests that can be run for celiac disease. Note: The EMA test is kind of outdated and expensive. It has been replaced by the tTG-IGA which measures the same thing and is less expensive to run.

Hi, yes. Much more solid and firm, as opposite to diarrhea like when on gluten.
    • AndiOgris
Hi all I have had a very confusing year with celiac disease (or perhaps not as it turns out) and wondered if anyone can help me make sense of it? My mother was diagnosed with celiac disease (in her 70s) a couple of years ago. I am in my early 40s and did not have any symptoms, but I took a blood test in November 2023 and it came back positive (TTG IGA 23.4 U/ml - normal range is below 7 U/ml). I was referred for a gastroscopy to confirm, which was scheduled for October 2024 (I use the UK health service, things move slowly!). The gastroscopy found no evidence of celiac disease.  My gastroenterologist has asked me to retake the blood test, and it just came back negative (TTG IGA 1.6 U/ml - normal range is below 7 U/ml). Given the long wait between my initial positive blood test and my gastroscopy, I reduced my gluten intake but never avoided it fully. In the 6 weeks before the gastroscopy and the second blood test, I made sure to eat at least two slices of bread a day as recommended, and often I had significantly more.  So what's going on? I understand that false positives are very rare for celiac blood tests, and usually associated with other serious diseases which I am fairly sure I don't have (my health is generally very good). After the negative biopsy, I thought that (i) either they did not take enough samples, or (ii) I have "potential celiac disease". But now that the second blood test has come back negative, I'm running out of plausible explanations...  Can anyone make sense of this? I have not spoken to my gastroenterologist yet - I wanted to get a better sense of where I am beforehand so that I can ask the right questions. Under the UK system, specialist doctors can be very hard to get hold of, so I need to make the most of my time with him! Thanks!
