Jin,

About Dart....my aunts dog was almost killed by flea and tick medecine and commercial dog food. She was on her death bed and they took her to a holistic vet who said those kinds of meds were causing her to have liver failure. She was treated with milk thistle, herbs, and was put on a diet of boiled chicken and sweet potatoes. She miracously recovered!!

She has since died of old age, but they enjoyed her company for another 6 years after that incident. And she never ate dog food again!

April

Does anyone have an air purifier. Im looking into getting one cause my oldest son has bouts of asthma and now my 8 yr old might have asthma. I also have many allergies and so does hubby, that is why we think we are so sick. Also im sure mold spores are still somewhere in the house.

I looked up air purifiers and went to dr mercola's site and found this one

I am glad their dog recovered. I think the same could apply for people!

I think it is Dr J, a veternarian, who has a site talking about animal and human health that is very interesting. :)

Hi all! I've been reading.

Kassandra, sorry about the ongoing quest for answers from Quest. :D

I'm feeling a little better after my herx. I had a deep tissue massage yesterday .... it stirred up stuff, so I was tired after that. But I wouldn't say it caused a herx, so that's improvement.

I'm not on Humaworm, but have seen weird things lately, if you know what I mean. I have no idea why I'm eliminating "stuff" again. I guess it's my body doing it on it's own this time? Is that a good sign?

I would say it would be a good sign-

gross stuff coming out is better than gross stuff staying In-Tha'ts m motto!!!!!!!!!!

LOL, well that's true! I'm just wondering why .... I haven't changed anything that should be affecting THAT! Hopefully I'm becoming an inhospitable environment for parasites. ;)

I don't currently have one, but I had two Whirpool Wispure models. They were the quietest I could find that didn't cost too much. I had one in my bedroom and one in my livingroom for several years. They worked very well I think. They are a bit expensive to maintain (the HEPA filters are expensive) though.

Thanks donna, i will look into these today.

There are two places to load pictures. I think where you have yours is on your personal page. Anyone who clicks on your "profile" will see that picture. You would also need to load it in the Signature Section under something called "Avatar Settings" (or something similar).

SUCCESS!!!

Nice to see you Katy. :D

There are both profile/personal photos and avatars. You want to edit avatar and then load it. If you need specific directions holler.

On the dentist, personally, I'd go to someone who knows how to deal with amalgam removal and then you could continue with your regular dentist after that if you choose. He may be meticulous but that won't help you if he doesn't use a dam for one, plus other helps to not get so much of the vapors.

I'm planning on getting mine done this fall. I have 9-10 to have done, including redoing my crowns which have metal underneath them.

Hope you pt appointment goes well. A torn shoulder sounds very painful.

I got my picture! I'm so happy now! :D

My dentist knows and regularly performs amalgam removals. He did say Acrylic works better and seems to be in favor of it. What is a dam? vapors? I know nothing about this process. It's not that he doesn't care or wont do it right, it's more that he is always too busy to actually talk about it until i'm in the chair. which yeah, not the best.

How are you going about getting yours removed? What is detox like? (if you know)

PT went fabulously. I love my PT, we complain about people / america the whole hour. He was telling my about this terrible dentist he had who was supposed to put a bridge in, and instead drilled holes in PERFECTLY healthy teeth! ANd then wouldn't pay for it. THIS is what scares me about switching dentists!! haha.

Sherry--

I'm sure this has been suggested before, but have you tried acupuncture for your allergies? It is of course, expensive, but my dad and sister have done it for years (not constantly of course, who can afford that?) and really found relief with it.

Okay--sorry for the multiple posts, I got excited about my picture and forgot to conserve space. Don't be mad! The sun is shining!

I made an omelette for breakfast! woohooo!

A dam is a rubber thing that they fit around the area being worked on--it prevents any amalgam pieces (or at least reduces the chance of it) from going down your throat.

Vapors are released when they drill the amalgams...those are dangerous too. My dentist had a HUGE vacuum hose by my mouth/nose to draw the vapors away...that hose was vented to the outside of the building somewhere.

Speaking of, I wonder if tom ever got his Humaworm and how he is doing with it?

Hehe Hi Jin!!

Very nice to have you back, tho it sure sucks what happened 'out there'.

I hit the halfway point of the Humaworm a couple days ago.

Nothing near as productive & interesting as others' Huma experiences. BMs more normal more often tho . .. .not that there was much weirdness before.

Oh . .. ..and I quit smoking yesterday.

I'm only at 19hrs right now, but it's been 20 YEARS :o since I went that long w/out a cig. Most of the 7000+ days I rarely went an hour w/out.

Hello to all my Peeps!! :D

Jin...I totally loved what you wrote about everyone. Very sweet.

Hopefully all of the negativity and drama has died down and that you still feel Rachelville is a place where you can be yourself. :)

Donna...glad to see you're back!! Wow...I'm sorry you got so sick...I was starting to get worried since it seemed to go on for quite awhile. :(

Stupid bugs!!! :angry::angry:

Lisa...you crack me up!

Katy,

Definately read up on amalgam removals. Educate yourself as much as you possibly can (ton of info in this thread) before making any attempt at removal. Not to sound overly dramamtic but not being informed is how people can end up alot worse. I actually wasnt sick at all prior to having my fillings drilled out. I didnt do it because of mercury...the dentist just told me they were deterioorating (one was broken) and needed to be replaced.

Thats how I ended up sick.

If you're already toxic you can get much worse if this process isnt done with all the safety measures in place and without some type of detox protocol following each removal.

I would HIGHLY recommend not going with your regular dentist for amalgam removals. If the dentist who is doing the removals doesnt understand how toxic the fillings are he is putting you (and himself) at risk. You would be much safer having someone who is knowledgaeble in this area take them out....usually this would be a biological dentist. Its not something you want to cut corners with.

After I got sick I researched and went to a biological (mercury-free) dentist to have my 2 remaining fillings removed.

I have just heard stay away from certain types of air filters, that some only recirculate the toxins through the air and spread them around.

I can't remember what those were, April and I were talking about it a few months ago.

I would think the ones Mercola recommends would be good? He seems to be up on all the latest.

I had heard the same thing and i cant remember which ones they were either lol. That is why i thought i would ask here lol. I will do an search on this thread and see what i come up with, i just hate doing searches when it has an 3 letter word lol

I know what you mean, anytime I try to do a search on here I get so frustrated

I did a quick google search and I found what April and I were discussing before, it's IONIZERS that are supposedly not so great, and may do more harm than good.

I had brought up ozone machines, or ozone generators, for her mold problems. I have had one for many years, and that is what was recommended to me, but there are some contradictory articles out there about those as well.

It's hard to know what to believe.

Do you know if Mercola's recommended filters ozone related?

Thanks but I will check it out with my doctor, usually stress will trigger it,

Has any doctor suggested taking a round of Dapsone?  If you have dermatitis herpetiformis, dapsone will clear it fairly quickly.  It is not a drug you would want to take forever, but when all else failed my doc had me take it as a way to determine if it was dermatitis herpetiformis.  Sure enough it worked like a miracle and itch stopped and after 2 months the rash cleared.  Then I embarked on figuring out how to eat to avoid the breakouts.  It is my understanding that once you expose to gluten, the reaction happens and antibodies are deposited in your skin.  They can blister right away or hang around for a long time and get "activated" by other things like your monthlies, pressure, stress etc.... It makes it difficult to diagnose and difficult to manage.

I use an app called Spoonful where you can scan labels and it will tell you whether it is safe, questionable (and why) and also something you can substitute.  It also makes it easier to see what is on the label.  There are some ingredients that I avoid in addition to gluten. You can also search the app by a category.  I just searched on "cosmetics and a few things popped up as compliant.  I think the app is mainly focused on food.  When I first started out reading labels was a nightmare and it took me so much time at the store.  This app has really helped me when I am looking at something new.  They update frequently, and if something isn't in their data base there is an AI function where you can enter the information from the label and it will analyze it right away for you. I have used an app called Find Me Gluten Free in the past when I am traveling to find restaurants.  People's reviews are very helpful because even when a restaurant claims to be able to accommodate, often people will find out differently and they report it on reviews. Hope this helps.

It took me 2-3 years to feel like my gut recovered, and then I still had gluten ataxia issues for well over a decade.  This study indicates that a majority of celiacs don't recover until 5 years after diagnosis and starting a gluten-free diet: Mucosal recovery and mortality in adults with celiac disease after treatment with a gluten-free diet However, it's also possible that what the study really shows is the difficulty in maintaining a 100% gluten-free diet. I suspect that if you looked closely at the diets of those who did not recover within 2 years might be that their diets were not 100% gluten-free. Perhaps they ate out more often, or didn't understand all of the hidden ingredients where gluten can hide. Either way, it shows how difficult recovery from celiac disease can be for most people. According to this study: This article explores other causes of flattened villi:

Good idea, but make sure she does not require lactose free cheese,it is common in celiac patients.
