Everyone,

Does anyone know if taking charcoal makes the detox pads even darker then before. I ran out of the green teas ones and last night used the gold ones. Well this morning i woke up and they were pitch black. So Im not sure to say its from the charcoal or maybe just this pad is more powerful and it took out more toxins then the green tea one.

Paula do you feel better using the detox foot pads? I feel like those ones are just better at getting out the nasty toxins. I was thinking about using the foot pads as well. The more toxins well can pull out the better.

Has anyone done a detox foot spa treatment? They seem pretty pricey but might be worth a try?

I'm not taking any binders....I havent for awhile now. Its mainly because they all give me phenol reactions....they're all from vegetable sources....I cant even handle magnesium stearate....and its in freakin everything!! Why?? Why do they have to use vegetable sources for everything!! :rolleyes:

Yeah I know magnesium stearate is in everything. I'm also sure you can't handle it because it's a toxic excipient. I use to get some supplements from a company called Premier Research Labs. They don't use magnesium stearate in anything.

I vaguely remember reading somewhere that magnesium stearate was bad....but I had no idea why. I also dont know if its always from a vegetable source. Sometimes it will say on the product (from a vegetable source) but usually it doesnt state the source at all.

Does anyone recall the brand of Zeolite that Lisa refers to?? I guess the next thing to find out is whats in it. Hopefully it doesnt have all those vegetable ingredients!! I would want to have Amy test it if I can find some.

Bacteria and yeast produce phenols....so I dont know if thats why the load always seem high....but it would definately be nice to lower the burden some. Even though I'm not feeling terrible....I would still like to someday be able to eat more foods!!

I feel like I'm always close to my threshold.

It was really bothering me that I was able to eat alot more foods for that one month earlier in the year....and then I went backwards. I thought it was the copper for awhile....but now I dont think so.

Before Xmas I was mainly eating the beef and peas...and not much else. I was wondering if possibly my phenol load was reduced because of my diet....and the fact that it wasnt really fueling the "bugs". So maybe a few weeks of eating all the good stuff....and feeding the infections....and then that was it...my bucket overflowed??

Whenever I eat alot of sugar (like back when I was existing off of ice cream)....then my tolerance level goes way down. I dont "react" to sugar...but eventually I notice that I have zero tolerance for the veggies, fruits, perfumes, etc. I never reacted to the ice cream...not like I react to fruits or veggies....yet my bucket was still overflowing.

The only thing I can think of is that it might be the bugs which are causing the phenol overload in the first place. I know I have dysbiosis....my last CDSA (from 3 years ago) showed that I had no growth of beneficial bacteria. The two most important strains for good health....and they were totally absent from my sample. I was taking lots of probiotics at the time...but obviously they werent sticking. :(

That was when I was basically self treating....so the problem never got resolved. If the "good guys" are gone.....then *something* has to be taking their place. <_<

Mia....yup...thats how it happened with me.

I was on the ketotifen at that time...plus my diet had been pretty clean for awhile...plus I had done a few chelation treatments. Everything was going pretty good. Its not like I was totally symptom free with what I was eating...but I was eating alot more and my bucket wasnt overflowing.

It went downhill when I started the anti-parasitic (Alinia)....for the tapeworm. I remember the first dose caused burning sensations and some other symptoms. I thought maybe it was because the treatment was working....but I wasnt sure.

I had to take a total of 6 pills over 3 days for that first round of treatment. I dont think I "felt" anything similar with the rest of the pills....but definately during and after the treatment my bucket was overflowing.

I think now that I was reacting to something in the med....a filler, dye, magnesium stearate....who knows?? All I know is that at that point my bucket started overflowing and I could no longer eat the foods I was eating in the weeks prior to that.

Plus...the treatment itself could have flared up bad bacteria and yeast. I would have to assume that by getting rid of some parasites....it provides more room for the *other* bad guys. I dont seem to have many "good guys" right now....so whatever is there is not likely to be "friendly". <_<

I think I'm gonna have to treat them all simultaniously...otherwise it will just see-saw back and forth. I think thats what we'll end up doing if these things show up in the OAT test.

I think earlier in my illness I had an even bigger yeast problem than what I have now...then when I went totally anti-candida with the diet and antifungals things may have switched over to more of a bacteria problem. I started getting wierd symptoms during that time....that was when I decided to abandon the diet....because it became obvious that there was more to it than the yeast.

I know that can happen. By treating yeast you can worsen a bacteria overgrowth...and vice versa. I dont know exactly whats there...but I know they are NOT friendly!!! :angry:

Ok, I have to start taking electrolytes in the next couple weeks. I'm aware of pedialyte......does anyone know of good electrolytes without all the garbage added?

I haven't looked at the ingredients of pedialyte yet.

I still have my foot pads....they're still in the Fed Ex envelope in my closet. :P

I'm not gonna try them until my "bucket" gets much lower....they have way too many salicylates. That scares me. :ph34r:

Next time I see Dr. Amy I think I'll bring the foot pads.....that should be interesting. :lol:

Amy gave me the name of a brand once.....I *think* it was "Selectrolytes". I'm not 100% sure because it was awhile back...and I'm going from memory....but I know I wrote it down somewhere.

Anyway, I just looked it up.

Dang....even my probiotics have magnesium strearate....and they're a really good brand!!

I havent taken probiotics in a really long time. They just sit in my fridge waiting for me to not be "allergic" to them anymore. I'm sure thye're probably out of date now. :rolleyes:

I remember Amy telling me I needed to take them....even if its only a small amount on a toothpick. She just wanted me to be getting *some* probiotics in me. She told me that alot of the autistic kids had the same problem....and some of them would totally "lose it" with one probiotic capsule. However, with a half capsule...or a third...or a quarter...they might have no problems at all....but a full capsule would trigger an episode.

It makes me wonder if its not something like magnesium stearate triggering the reaction. For me everything is dose related...everything depends on how full the bucket is.

I was taking HLC probiotics.

I looked up VSL#3.....because thats what I was hoping to take eventually.

Silicon dioxide is another one which is on the toxic excipient list. I wonder if I'll be able to find something pure?? :unsure:

:lol: It's actually an "old" bucket metaphor....but it works! I think its my favorite and most "unscientific" description of the problem.

My bucket's overflowing = I'm flooded with toxic junk

My bucket's overflowing = I feel like crap

It's pretty basic. :P

They look good to me. I put in an email to Dr E about this and about the stearates.

I don't know if we should be concerned about it, although hubby just threw out our Vit C and Magnesium since they had the magnesium stearate in them. We don't have money to try and buy things that are more pure though. I'll go out looking tomorrow (maybe) and see if I can find anything better. Not going to hold my breath though.

Rachel, according to my Rosmed results, I am in a similar situation to what you described. I am very low in the good bacteria, even though I have been taking probiotics with these "good guys" in them. I am also not digesting carbs, even with a special digestive enzyme for them. I am extremely low in bile acids as well. A few other things in there as well.

I wonder if the "good guys" can't survive in there and why I've been unable to shift things so they do.

I sure hope the Spectracell shows some improvement, because these look pretty much the same. The Rosmed this time also show moderate fat malaborption and digestion, it was normal last winter. So maybe I've actually gotten a little worse. :(

Some of my supplements have magnesium sulfate in them as well. I guess you cant avoid all toxins. I will probably still take them until I can get one's without this stuff in them.

The detox things are the only things that i have actually used when i received them. I have so many things i have ordered that just sit in the containers. My hubby told me i cant get better just by ordering stuff and looking at it lol.

I wonder if my "bucket" will ever get lower.

      Welcome to the forum, @kim-d! Recently revised guidelines or the "gluten challenge" recommends the daily consumption of at least 10g of gluten for at least two weeks up until the day of the antibody test blood draw. 10g of gluten is the amount found in about 4-6 slices of wheat bread. IMO, I would wait until you have time to do it right so as to remove all doubt as to whether or not your gluten consumption was adequate for long enough to ensure valid testing. In the meantime, focus on removing gluten from your diet and see how your symptoms improve (or not) as one piece of the diagnostic puzzle.

      Hello. I'm a 22 year old college student and I've had constant stomach problems since I was 14. Recently I noticed that my problems get worse when I eat more wheat. I tried to follow a gluten free diet, which didn't end up entirely gluten free, but I still had reduced my gluten consumption very much, and I felt a lot better. I also have fatigue, inability to gain any weight, iron deficiency, possible vitamin deficiencies, really bad memory and brain fog that increases by time, unexplainable muscle aches and tachycardia which all can possibly explained by celiac/NCGS.  I wasn't able to continue a completely gluten free diet as I am eating from my school and dorm's cafeteria and almost all food there have gluten so I was going very hungry. They do offer a gluten free menu with a report though. So I decided I should try getting a diagnosis if I can, especially after reading how it was much harder to do gluten challenge after quitting gluten for a while. I was able to get an appointment for next week, and started eating around 150gr of bread per day to be sure.  First 24 hours I didn't feel any worse so I was starting to doubt myself, but then bloating hit hard. It wasn't anything unbearable, but the problem is I have finals soon and I'm now realizing this is a really bad time to do this. I can't begin studying from pain distracting me. I'm thinking of cancelling the appointment and eat low gluten until exams are over.  I worry about one thing. Before I went low gluten, I was eating a lot of bread already for over a month, which is what clued me into gluten, and I only went low gluten for around 10 days before going high gluten again. I wasn't that worried about a false negative. But if I eat low gluten until my exams are over, it means over a month of low gluten, and I would need a lot more time eating high gluten later to get a correct result.  I'm not sure which one should I do, bear it until my appointment or cancel it and try again when I'm free later. And If I choose the second one, how long would I need to do the gluten challenge for a blood test?
