Ehrlichiosis is the one co-infection I tested positive for. It causes flu-like symptoms, and is treated with Doxycycline. For at least 2 weeks.

More articles about cytokines and the immune balance:

Are you still feeling better Kassandra? Have you figured out what is helping?

I'm not feeling so great today, and same yesterday. I'd say about 20%. I think it's the combo of everything...avoiding EMF's, changing my meds around and the NAET treatments.

I don't know if part of why I'm not feeling so great the past couple days is because I over did it, or I just had a few good days. ;) I really started to get excited about my life again when I was feeling about 35% a few days ago. I have missed so much that I will have a LOT of catching up to do! :) Dr B told me to slowwwww down, lol. She said that I will really have to transition back into my life. Not just jump back in.

I really think that not reading/talking about illness has been important for me. It's really easy for me to just escape by talking about Lyme, etc. all the time. It has been nice to just try and catch up on normal life. I've been trying to read up on current events (not that I remember them, LOL!) and just not be caught up in all the chronic illness in my life.

That is not a dis to anyone who spends a lot of time learning about this stuff, but I just have found it to be a big shift in my attitude to not read about it all the time.

Carla-

Just today, the air hunger and cobwebs in my chest came back. I have been off the Mepron for 10 days now. I thought that feeling in the chest (I imagine this is how asthmatics feel) was from the Lyme, not the babs???

Anyway- glad to hear you are doing so well.

Thanks.

Why are you off the Mepron (sorry, I can't keep everything straight, ugh, it's not Lyme or old age, LOL, it's being too busy!)? The air hunger, I do think it must be somewhat similar to asthma, though I was tested for asthma and told I was actually hyperventilating, whereas asthmatics actually don't get enough air .... the air hunger is babs. There is so much overlap in symptoms between the diseases .....

I am back from the beach! I felt much better after a few days there....maybe the sunlight, the ocean water - don't know. But the aching in my neck and back has subsided. And my legs aren't quite as weak feeling.

I got home and the Igenex results were here for the tick I had tested.

Positive for Echrilosis??? I don't know much about that one. Does anyone else?

Yes, that's a coinfection. I would call IGeneX and ask them whether having a coinfection might mean the tick also has Lyme. Also, maybe someone here who has an LLMD appt coming up can ask their LLMD what he/she recommends when a patient is bitten by a tick known to have a coinfection. My LLMD was perfectly willing to tell me their standard treatment for when a patient is bitten.

I felt really good today. FIL took me out on the Harley again, and now my lymph nodes are sore. I think it really does something. I'm also very thirsty. I'm going to go to bed early. :) Night!

April,

I should've mentioned this in my last post, and I think I've mentioned it before. Ehrlichiosis was the only Lyme-related thing I've ever tested positive to, but my LLMD said that since I had a co-infection then I most likely had Lyme. And, obviously, he was right.

Could Ehrlichia be there *without* lyme? I guess I don't quite understand that part.

They checked for:

B. Burgdorferi - negative

Babesia - negative

Rickettsia- Negative

Ehrlichia - positive - confirmed by Southern Dot Blot.

B. Henselae - negative (Bartonella)

Rickettsia - negative

I am going to fax this to the pediatrician who would not give me abx, call Igenex Monday Morning, AND make an appointment with an LLMD.

She has not shown any signs or symptoms at all as of yet. But I know that doesn't mean a thing.

With her past history of metals found, and even though she has done a little chelation last summer, this is scary!

AndreaB Contributor

April,

Keep us posted on the appointments, etc. Hopefully your ped will treat and you can get in with a LLMD soon.

Glad you had a good time at the beach and are feeling better.

EMF's are something that came up on my ASYRA last year. I didn't really notice any adverse affects. I was tired a lot but I don't know if EMF's cause that. We got something called BioPro chips that Dr E sells for our computer and our cell phones. I'm almost never on mine as I only get 60 minutes a month and it's used for when I'm out if I need to contact anyone.

Kassandra, yes, it makes you keep feeling sick to read about it all the time. I think we need a balance, we need some information too.

The lightning process people tell the participants to stay off reading about illnesses on the Internet. Very few post in the forums and report they have gotten well, but they indeed have gotten well.

(in case someone has nor heard about lightning process, it is something invented in the UK and most patients get well from chronic fatigue syndrome after attending the courses. We have started the courses in Norway now too so patients do not have to travel to the UK)

IIIIIIIIIIIInteresting about the electricity, I find they refer to it as EMF.

Here is the scarf: Open Original Shared Link and I read it is from Norway. I have read about it before. They have hats and other things too. Have not tried it. This week there is an article in a weekend magazine that comes with our biggest newspaper and it is about a boy with EMF and that they now put up wireless routers in he schools, and that a company has obviously signed a contract with eh city to put up their cell phone antennas in----schoolyards (!!!) of all places. The kid is photographed in such a scarf, the large size one.

I noticed I got better back in 2000 when I tried some chlorella I had sitting around. i stopped using it as I was not sure if it contained iodine, as iodine makes me go hyper first and then my antibodies rise and I get sick and tired. It was only last year I found out it did not contain iodine and was safe. I should just start using it regularly. Dr. Klinghardt says that if you get side effects, you have to INCREASE the dose.....

I should try to schedule an appointment with an alternative clinic regarding metals, as I am sensitive to EMF. I have to find out which clinic, and maybe I just go to a chinesiology lady first, ans the alternative clinics just put you on a lot of expensive supplements and a course costs about 3000 dollars. An appointment is 200 dollars each. We think that is very expensive here, a normal doctor appointment is 30 dollars to almost 40 if they take tests etc. including the tests.

I was thinking maybe I should buy some metres of fabric and sow scarves for christmas gifts.

Well, after saying how good I felt, I had a really rough night, lol. Last night about 8:00 I started getting some gnawing/burning sensations in my upper abdomen, and then it progressed to absolute pain in my lower abdomen. Finally I felt like I might have D, and eventually did. I went twice, then it seemed to calm down, so I went to bed. Woke up several times during the night with that same gnawing feeling, then finally just got up at around 4:30 and went again. It calmed down again, so I took my shower and had a little something for breakfast, then within 30 minutes had D again.

 WARNING SCATALOGICAL TALK, lol: this time there was a semi-formed piece that had a large white thing in it. The white thing was about a half inch (or slightly more) long and maybe about 1/8th in wide. I can't say for sure what it was because I had D again so couldn't see it any more.

I've been getting a lot of noise in my digestive system the last few weeks...especially in the UPPER, like right at the point where the ^ in the ribcage is. I guess I'd better get back in and get retested for parasites and maybe H.Pylori. I've been holding off on all that stuff because of the upcoming surgery (not wanting to do anything to delay that and may not be able to do follow-up appointments).

Other than the D, I haven't felt nauseated or anything...just a little weird when I get the gnawing feeling.

Donna, you might feel better from not being under the stress of your job. :)

Yeah, that thought has crossed my mind as well.

I only have a slight EMF sensitivity. When I'm on the computer for hours at a time I feel slightly more anxious, and more revved up. But other than that I really don't get any symptoms. And that alone isn't going to keep me off. ;)

I can tell when I've been on too long...I get extremely anxious. My muscles all start screaming and my mind feels like it might explode...it's not a physical pressure in my head, it's more of a cellular thing...like everything is super excited and active. I actually start to feel a little sick and usually when I reach that point I have to get off the computer right away and go lay down. Weird, lol.

Are you going back to work soon lol

I have one more week off. I go back a week from Tuesday. That's IF he clears me to drive. Then, I have a meeting with the surgeon that same week I go back to work, so depending on how quickly he can schedule me for surgery, I'll be off again shortly thereafter, lol.

Positive for Echrilosis??? I don't know much about that one. Does anyone else?

I have it, but don't know a lot about it. There wasn't a huge amount of info about it when I did my searches...that was more than a year ago so hopefully there is more now.

Ehrlichiosis is the one co-infection I tested positive for. It causes flu-like symptoms, and is treated with Doxycycline. For at least 2 weeks.

Hum, that would definitely explain why I've had such a history with D, lol.

That is not a dis to anyone who spends a lot of time learning about this stuff, but I just have found it to be a big shift in my attitude to not read about it all the time.

Yeah, that's why I take breaks from the board for a while every now and then. I can't focus on the health stuff all the time, I have to take breaks from that and focus on other stuff once in a while.

mftnchn Explorer

I agree with having balance. After many years of chronic illness, one thing I've tried to do is keep busy with life and what I CAN do. I've ended up just mostly reading this thread to try to stay caught up and not too much else except when I really need info.

I have erlichia as a co-infection. Supposedly it is easy to treat, but mine has stayed around for a long time. This year I have been treating it with poke root, plus the nattokinase. ART showed that it was blocking up my lymph system. These two approaches have done well, and it no longer shows up on ART at least.

I really don't notice anything from EMF but that's not to say it isn't an issue.

Tomorrow I have a brief LLMD appointment to discuss the Vitamin D (repeat results weren't in yet on Thur, they are closed on Fridays, hopefully they will be in!!) and the joint muscle pain.

My own sense is that it is heavy metal related from the Enula killing parasites; it started right away when I switched to Enula. ART shows Enula as being really good for me so I don't think it is the herb itself. Hope we can figure it out tomorrow.

Donna,

Sorry about you having d again. Hope it's not h pylori. You were on meds quite a while for that before weren't you?

I'll be looking for updates on your foot and the upcoming surgery as well.

Sherry,

The metals could definately be causing a problem with killing of parasites. That was one thing I wanted to start tackling but it will have to wait now.

We've got to get some landscape material (the kind that you lay down to block weeds from coming up) because our neighbor is letting us have a lot of rock that he has left over. Ran out of time running errands yesterday so we plan to tackle it next weekend.

Nora,

Towers in school yards! :o That is about the worst place to put them. Children are bombarded enough.

Have fun doing that. I hate putting that black stuff down to keep the weeds out. The bad thing about it, is weeds still find an way to come threw, but not as many as if you didnt put the stuff down lol.

What kind of rock are you getting? I love the way rock makes your yard look so cute lol

Bad, bad with the antenna towers in schollyards of all places.

Now I was just watching somethinng else at youtube, and typed in klinghardt, and here is something about mercury and cell phone frequencies Open Original Shared Link but he only just slightly mentions it. One should really watch part one to understand what he is talking about.

Yeah, I think it was 14 days of two antibiotics plus prilosec (PrevPac) plus pepto bismol. I was on the prilosec and pepto for at least 30 days after I finished the antibiotics I think, and it seemed like a massive amount of all of it, lol.

My foot is actually doing really well. I can stand a little while without my boot and I can move my toes without using my fingers. It's still swollen and red and parts of my foot are bruised still (tomorrow will be 5 weeks!), but it doesn't hurt much. I get sudden onset of what must be nerve pain that shoots through that area, but it only lasts a second or two and doesn't happen very often. My toe is really, really stiff though and when I say I can move it, it isn't much. I think that's because it's still swollen.

AndreaB Contributor

Paula,

The landscape stuff my neighbor got is brown.....don't know if that's different or more expensive than the black stuff. We have to check out prices as mom said they are expensive. The rock is just normal rounded grey rock. Nothing fancy.

Nora,

I know that Dr. Mercola talks about the dangers of cell phones quite extensively. I don't remember if Dr. Blaylock does or not. There is an upswing of brain cancer like Sen Kennedy has and they expect a massive increase as cell phones are used quite extensively in many places. I have one that is off most of the time and is in my purse in case I need it. My husband has one so we can talk a little during the day as he works long hours. We use a land line corded phone in the house. That was one way we tried to cut our emf exposure. They say cordless phones (unless they are under 1 ghz are actually worse than cells for emf frequency and they are constantly emitting a pulse.

I never have seen brown stuff lol. We get an roll of the black stuff and im not sure on the price. It just looks like mesh.

I wonder if i have been having trouble sleeping the last week cause my cell phone is next to my bed charging every night and my cordless phone is next to my bed to. Plus hubbys cell phone is on his side cause he uses it for an alarm.. Hmmmm makes me think

paula

CarlaB Enthusiast

Yeah, Paula, all that sounds like a bad idea! I turn my cell phone off at night ... whatever it is, it can wait till I wake up!

About balance ... I like checking up on you guys every day, but sometimes I just skim the posts. I am on LN often when I'm not feeling well. It gives me something to do. :) When I'm well, I have better things to do than be on the computer!!!

I don't really get fascinated with studying Lyme/illness .... for me it's more of a social thing.

dlp252 Apprentice

Okay, so apparently I have either an intestinal bug or I bacteria'd myself.

I was laying on the couch and feeling a bit cool...not really cold, but just kind of goose-bumpy on the inside, so decided to cover up my arms with a little throw. After a while I had to throw it off cuz I was too hot. I took my temp and it was 99. Not bad, but considering that my normal temp is around 97 now, that's a lot, lol. So, I've been checking it for the last 3 hours or so and it's going back and forth between 99 and 99.1. I'm having random, ocassional pain in the abdomen, but haven't had any more D, yet.

It's one of two things I think (since I haven't been out of the house to catch anything except yesterday at the grocery store and Monday at Starbuck's):

I am soooooo sick of the veggies I've been eating. I've eaten the same ones for over two years and I'm finding it hard to eat them all of a sudden. I noticed a package of squash in my freezer...now, who knows HOW long that's been in there because I haven't bought any in at least a year, so I'm thinking it's 1-2 years old. I decided to eat it anyway. Probably a bad idea. Can it have bacteria even if it was in the freezer? It looked (except for a lot of frostyness on it), smelled and tasted okay. Anyway, I had the squash on Friday night...would it take that long to react...from Friday night to Saturday night?

The other thing I had yesterday was Knikkiknick white bread. I was really in the mood for a hot dog so I made one. I've had the hot dogs before, so unless it was a bad batch, I don't react to them. But I don't tend to have this kind of reaction to stuff like breads and baked goods...I usually get head symptoms, like clogged sinuses and ears.

One more new thing...egg white protein powder. I bought a new kind, and didn't notice that it has soy lecithin in it, but I drank a whole Starbuck's coffee on monday with soy milk and didn't react.

So, I don't know what the heck it is...

mftnchn Explorer

Donna, there can be delayed reactions to foods. There can also be a build up period before you react. Makes it so hard to trace.

No other changes in meds lately?

Sherry

donna,

I would say the soy, or unless you had hamburger from safeway lately lol. That is what gave me food poisoning last week lol.

I can eat a little bit of something and feel fine, but if i try to eat it again in an 24 hour period, i get like you are now. It is really weird.

Maybe take some charcoal and rest.

I would bet that that is causing you problems. Can you charge your phone elsewhere or charge it during the day/early evening? Can the cordless phone be put somewhere else? Hubby use an alarm clock?

Anyway, I had the squash on Friday night...would it take that long to react...from Friday night to Saturday night?

Definately could be suspect.....if squash doesn't settle well with you. The oldness of it shouldn't affect anything but taste, not when it's frozen. I'm not sure though, most things have 6-12month use by day on them.

We haven't even been to church lately because every time we went it seems we got sick. <_< I know we had colds or cold/flu in May, June and July.

All of this talk on emf has me really thinking. I know days i talk on the cell phpne for long periods, my head feels realy weird. It feels all heavy and likei feel my blood flowing with my veins in my head. I also get headaches and feel weird. I also notice thisif im on the puter for hours on end. I sometimes even feel off when i have the heating pad on my stomach for too long. I never really made the connection til we have been talking about it on here.

I am going to have to google more on this.

I too have been noticing that I feel very sick when I am on the computer too long. Lots of head symptoms. My vestibular neuritis acts up, I feel pulsing and fullness in the head, I get nauseated and feel just not right and sick. This has been happening for years but only recently has it gotten really bad.

I had an appt with Dr H today. We discussed what has happened over the past 5-6 weeks since I saw him last. He said it is possible that there is a GI problem/bleed causing the iron issue. He is open to having me tested, if the new Hematologist sees fit.

He said that he doesn't want them to give me anymore Iron IV's or shots. He said that it would be a great way to kill the Lyme, because Lyme dies in your body about 9 days after you do. So, after I was dead, the Lyme would be too!

Given my horrendous cramping and menstrual problems, he wants me to see a specialist in Northern CA for endometriosis. He wants to see if this guy has anything he might be able to add.

We are possibly going to start treating Bart, but he wants me to have the meds muscle tested before I start any of them.

I asked about Heavy Metals and Dr H said no again. So did the NP he works with. :( They said they agree with Dr B, I'm in no shape to be chelating metals. Boooo!

And....grrrr, Labcorp hasn't sent Dr H the past 5 blood draws I've had! :o:angry: I go in every week for blood work because of the IV abx, and they haven't gotten ANY of them! So I will have a little conversation with Labcorp tomorrow. <_<

That's pretty much it. The only other thing they did was add Zinc. I guess I'm really low in it...

Is it worth it to remove gluten before they potentially do an endoscopy & biopsy? I thought I read it’s best to be eating gluten for 3 months prior to it. So hoping they have a cancellation and call us in sooner.

I think you would do well to take a high potency B-complex such that you get more balanced dosage across the spectrum of B vitamins. They work in concert.

Around 5 years ago I visited Tokyo, and luckily had my sister in law with me who is from there, otherwise it would have been more difficult. The bottom line is that there are tons of naturally gluten-free food options there, but you need to be able to communicate your needs to restaurant staff. Here is a gluten-free restaurant card for American visitors in Tokyo. It includes a request for a gluten-free meal and mentions common gluten-containing ingredients to avoid, like soy sauce and miso. English: Thank you. Japanese:   You can also download the Google Translate app, and besides being able to help you speak with people there about this, it has a camera app that translates Japanese text to English in your camera, so you can use it when shopping in a supermarket.
