Rachel,

I assume all comupters are working now? Yah....it's so good to have you back. :D:P:)B) You made me lose my resolve to stay away from this computer at least part of the day since I was so worried about you.

You are loved, don't you know.

And so our all the other regular posters.

:) No, I am not amazing, lol. I noticed when you go to post, you can scroll back and check things as you type. You can't get too far back, but the most recent. I also cheat and write notes as I catch up sometimes 'cause like Rachel, I've lived with the brainfog so long and it is so frustrating that I keep post-its and a mini-pen with me all the time. It is a coping tool I've had to use for a long time. I couldn't function to take care of the nutty animals and helpless men in my house if I didn't have lots of post-its and long lists, lol. The secret is out :) I cracked up when my neighbor said I was so organized and together. My god, if she only knew how many times I couldn't remember my phone number, address, etc. I've gotten into the wrong car in parking lots, drove into my neighbors drive and thought I was home....the idiot list goes on. I USED to be smart.....

Ya know, I don't want any man from high school (or college) to reconnect with me. Of the ones that would, one is gay and I might punch him upon seeing him anyway

:lol::lol::lol:

Tavi...glad you got to see cool cars and are now safely back in R-Ville. :)

Vincent....poor, poor Vincent. :( I hope you feel better tomorrow. :)

What is my prize for? Post #1?

Is that really a milestone.....every thread has a post #1!!!

:lol::lol:

I'll take the prize though!! :D

You get a prize for starting the wonderful community, where many of us have become friends and learned to lean on each other through the sick times as well as the not so sick times and well times.

Julie--Nice to see you!

I agree, anything is worth a try--that's why I share my experiences (strange though they may be). You never know what might strike a chord with someone. Remember with the coconut filter, I first suspected the charcoal, but Andrea found out about the coconut--I never would have known.

Thanks for the earlier tip about the Terra Chips. I saw them at Acme this morning--I emailed the company whaen I got home for more CC info. :) Gotta find a chip I can eat :D

Ignore me if I'm wrong about this, but I think I've heard that taro (in the Terra Chips) and tapioca either come from the same plant (root?), or are somehow related. I could be totally wrong about that though. Sorry, I feel like the food police sometimes :ph34r::rolleyes: That post just popped out at me.

But....I'm really excited about the casein and lactose free cows!!!!!!! Yay!

I thought I'd come hang out in Rachelville today because I'm feeling quite "glutened" today. I put that in quotes because I don't know if it's actually gluten. Maybe I just got "process fooded". I've eaten quite a lot of Orgran cookies recently . That Orgran stuff is so cheap here in OZ! Or, I could have gotten poisoned from one or all of the hostel kitchens I've attempted to cook in. Yuck. Oh well, it was bound to happen at some point.

What else is going on? Was there something about corn tortillas? The ones that agree with me best are the sprouted organic ones. They totally have to be sprouted. Sorry if that has nothing to do with anything anyone was ever posting about LOL.

Okay well I hope everyone who isn't feeling so awesome today gets better soon!

 Robbin, trust me...you would notice if I actually posted when I was truelly brainfogged like I was last night. I seriously could NOT post at all cuz my brain was really fried. I had to wait until I could write small sentences that sounded normal. It got better as the night progressed.

It scares the heck out of me every time....I start thinking I'll never get back to normal again. It doesnt matter how many times I go through it...it still freaks me out! I feel soooo dumb and when I try to write....it seems like maybe I'm in kindergarten.

Its the most bizzare thing....I can never get used to feeling that way.

Hi all, funny thread.

Brain fog, oh yeah. Like I can't make the slightest connection between observations or thoughts, can't reason, not enough brain cells firing to move stuff from short-term to long-term memory, so of course I never get used to it either. Also can't remember what stuff was about that I wrote down when I didn't have the fog. That's seriously scary and depressing. Nor is it a resourceful place to be when visiting a doc who's less informed about my disease than I am. It just brings out the patronising arrogant professional in them, eager to dismiss me.

Getting some sleep helps, though.

Meredith,

That's gotta be tough to be in youth hostels. I would think there would be lots of cc issues in those. Any job leads? Have you done lots of exploring or mainly looking for jobs thus far.

I hope you get over this quickly and can go about enjoying your travels. :)

LMAO...

OMG...I'm cracking up but really I do know how it feels. Thank God its somewhat better than it used to be.

Ahhhh....post its! Yes....I may have to start using them. I can save sooooo much time with the "post-it method". I will put it into effect tomorrow! :D

Thanks for letting us all in on your secret. ;)

I just had a vision of Rachelville....a town where post-its are everywhere!!! Even stuck on the bum who is sleeping on the park bench!:lol: The post-it reads: Take care of TUMBLEWEEDS!

OK...forgot what else I had to say....going back now....

Welcome Isonic. :D

Love the picture of your kitty. :P

We hope you will visit us often. This thread (Rachelville) goes from topic to topic depending on what the residents are dealing with that day.

Rachel--24 Collaborator

Isonic...

Welcome to the thread!! :D

Yeah....the only real "cure" for brainfog is sleep. Theres not much else to do except wait for it to wear off.

:D:D Isonic!!! Welcome!!! We got a new resident!!!! Yay!! I totally agree with you regarding the arrogant dr. attitudes. I usually feel like drinking bleach after a visit to the dr. when I am in the throes of brain-fog.

omg, I thought at first your cat was sleeping on a rattlesnake in the picture, lol. Need to get off the eye-drops. I hope you stick around and visit often. It is confusing, but it will become clear that it will never be unconfusing here

Hey, you're in Sydney? Me too :D

Thanks Andrea. It is hard cooking here because for two years I had my own little dedicated gluten, dairy and soy-free kitchen, and I got quite used to that :D. I've been carrying around my own spatulas and stuff LOL. If there was room in my bags for pots and pans I'd carry those around too! hehe. I think I might still try to figure out how to do that b/c I still have lots of travelling ahead of me :)

I've been exploring lots, and job searching (not enough lol), but I've had some interviews so hopefully something will work out soon :)

Donna,

For some reason if I try to eat corn chips (tried 2 brands now) I get mouth blisters pretty quickly. Dont know what thats all about. Possibly sulfites?? I think they use sulfites for everything but arent declared if under 10 ppms. I havent figured it out yet but most processed stuff like chips, cereal and crackers gives me the blisters. The chips didnt have a warning of possible gluten cc either. One had a warning for dairy but I obviously dont get mouth blisters from dairy. Heck I've been living off ice cream for almost 2 weeks!

Anyways I eat corn tortillas and tamales w/out incidence. I discovered if I microwave my tortillas too long....I get CHIPS!!!! :D

Oh the joys of having these kinds of limitations. We get excited over the littlest things!

ROFLMAO...

We do get excited over these things don't we. I just couldn't get the darned tortilla steamed correctly so I just threw it in the toaster oven...came out so good, lol. :P

Hundres of pages ago...our dear Cecile came up with that one...it caught on like wildfire...kind of like premature posting did.

Oh, and Susan, thanks...it's good to know the Dingos would have eventually been sent for me as well!:lol:

Ok..this is going to be all over the place...

Lisa -- I don't know if it can hurt at all to meet this guy. If you are happily marrried, and you hubby is willing to come with you, then it should be okay. You walked away once when he came on too strong. I tried to go back and see someone that I thought I was still in love with, and things were so different. Turns out the feeling were no longer there after all.

Vincent -- Good advice about the lightning. We've had more than normal here this summer and I will take your advice next time it starts.

Ok...I need some advice if anyone out there knows. There is a goodpossibility in the next 6 months or so that I wll be sent to Greenland for a year!! This is part of my Military Air Traffic thing, but I am not sure how the American Forces deal with celiacs. I know here, arrangements can be made (with difficulty) even for our guys in Afghanistan, but Greenland is so much more remote. After a year up there, I will be sent to Colorado Springs (YEAH!! :D ) The other lousy part about Greenland is I have to leave my wife and kids HERE for the whole time. I will get to come home twice while I ma away, but that is still going to suck.

Any thoughts?

Back to other things...the corn thing is interesting. Warrants more research I would guess. Looking forward to what our dear president comes up with.

Gotta run for now.

There is no established connection between type 2 diabetes and celiac disease. There is a connection with type 1, however, as about 6% of those with type 1 diabetes also have celiac disease. This rate is 6x that of the celiac rate found in the general population. https://celiac.org/about-celiac-disease/related-conditions/diabetes-and-celiac-disease/

Here is a link to the skin version, and the only ingredients are "chicken": https://www.perduefarms.com/en-US/perdue-bone-in-chicken-thighs-pack/60625.html There should also be ingredients and any allergens listed there on the package.
    • trents
Welcome to the forum, @BeeBarnard! I really can't imagine how either skin or skinless chicken thighs could not be gluten free unless one or the other were treated with some seasoning ingredient that was not gluten free. Do the product labels indicate any additional ingredients added to the meat? Is your daughter a super sensitive celiac? If not, the amount of gluten cross contamination found in seasonings is usually inconsequential.
    • BeeBarnard
HI, My daughter was recently diagnosed with Celiac and I would like to make her some chicken soup (she's got he flu). I found all gluten free ingredients but I'm having trouble with the chicken. I purchased Purdue bone-in chicken thighs from BJ's Wholesale Club. Purdue says that they are gluten free but the BJ's website says no. It seems like skin-on chicken is not, but skinless is. Does this seem accurate? Thank you
