Anyone every have Hydrogen breath tests for baterial overgrowth and/or lactose intolerance?

These do not sound like fun! I think I am going to be spinached and pulling a Dave all at once. The testing service just warned me I may be visiting the porcelain god after both tests. :(:blink::o

Hey all - - stop the madness for one moment - - gotta question - -

Will it just suck the life out of me if I give my plasma? The blood bank calls me monthly, they always want my plasma.....have never done it - - what will happen??

Going to try to walk erect now and get the dingos to the orchard - - lots of staring here....

Sorry. I have heard on Iron Maiden...back in the 80's right. Did they sing We Are the Champions? I liked that song. Now you won't get any important work done because the song lyrics might interrupt your dictation to the overworked legal secretaries. :P Work, what work! Right!

Have a nice walk Susan. I don't know a thing about plasma. I'm running back and forth playing wegits with the kids and reading this thread. It's lunch time for them, a break. Seth should be up soon looking for his lunch. He's on apple/blueberry now. Oh the fun of introducing food. So far he likes everything, but hasn't had much yet since he's only been on solids for a little over a month.

Yep, you're right. What was I thinking! :o I don't remember if I listened to Iron Maiden or not. That was in my "I'll listen to the music you like" as far as my current love interest at the time. My friend was into a lot of hard rock/heavy metal stuff. I'm trying to remember my favorite at the time. I was an old Styx fan but don't like any of that music anymore. I was more into soft rock I guess. I forget all the music names. I won't bore you guys with who I liked. I'd probably get laughed out of town. :unsure: My music tastes have totally changed and my current likes would be to mellow for most if not all of you. Simple says a lot.

I listened to a lot of different types of music everything from punk (Seven Seconds, husker Du, DK), hard rock/heavy metal (Maiden, Judas Priest, Quiet Riot), country (Garth Brooks, Alabama), to stuff like New Order, Bauhaus, Aztec Camera. I just like music and i admit what I listen to is a direct reflection fo my mood at the time.

At least you get paid for plasma. I couldn't do it after the second tim (when I was in college) because some "wierd antibodies" came back in my blood. I guess they don't want abnormally high IgG levels, as I later found out they were in the celiac disease test.

If you have any antibodies floating around, they won't let you do it, so I guess it depends on what your blood panel looks like. Worth a shot!!

Picard - - an attorney who is a thoughtful boss - - -a rarity, I will tell you - worked in two law firms myself throughout college (one was my dad's, about 60 attorneys at that time - - too much exposure to lawyers in my past :blink: ) but they do rely heavily on a good secty, that's for sure....

having a hard time picturing our Mother Hen listening to Iron Maiden.... :lol::lol:

I'll tell you what, my music tastes would get ME laughed out of town, except by perhaps cissie - -

Bluegrass, American roots music (I went from Celtic to that), OLD country (Cash especially, Willie Nelson and Emmylou), and then NIck Drake (British and no longer living), crazy old English Beat and ska, from college- - there's normal stuff too (Seal - my deep love - U2, Beatles, Peter Gabriel) and some Christian music......but everybody but my bro hates my old crazy stuff with fiddles and Appalachian crooners - - - -

Fiddle-Faddle, DID I MENTION I SING????? actually come from a family of beautiful Welsh tenors, I"m the only female who can sing....have a trainable voice and sing harmony in the car, constantly..... :lol::lol::lol:

Plasma - - they take your blood out, remove the plasma, then put the blood back in. Should be okay. I'm just happy to not be a Donor REject - - was anemic for my whole life, until now..... :rolleyes:

      Had my endoscopy yesterday I was told it would be about 6 weeks for the results.. Also found a small H Hernia only small they won’t be doing anything about that about that.

      Thanks for the additional info, @TerryinCO. Can you give the reference ranges for the celiac antibody tests. The scores you posted are not of much value without reference range numbers since there are not industry standards for these tests as far as the the scales they use. What they are testing for is the same but how they concoct the tests is a little different...

I have been following a strict gluten-free diet for about 3 years, with varying results depending on cross-contact issues. My celiac testing was inconclusive - and I wasn't willing to go back on gluten long enough for a full celiac diagnosis. I get pretty severe symptoms just a few hours after ANY gluten ingestion, no matter how small, so gastrointestinal doc recommends continuing to follow a gluten-free diet. So whether I have celiac disease (I do have one celiac gene) or non-celiac gluten sensitivity, treatment is the same. I have enjoyed corn grits on occasion, but started seeing a pattern of gluten intake symptoms after large family breakfasts. This last time, I researched everything I might have ingested. My family is pretty good about cross-contact, too. When I got to the Quaker corn grits, I found they are not certified gluten-free, and the labeling does not say gluten free anywhere - although the only ingredients are corn grits, salt and some vitamins and minerals. The research I did confirms that while Quaker grits do not "contain" gluten ingredients, they may indeed be contaminated by cross-contact with glutens. I threw out all the grits (and corn meal) I had in the pantry, and bought some certified as gluten-free. Hopefully, next family breakfast will be better! 😋

What they are testing for is the same but how they concoct the tests is a little different from lab to lab. You will need to repost the original numbers as well as the reference ranges in a new post as you will not be able to edit the original post. Also, unfortunately, it doesn't seem your doctor ordered a "total IGA" test to determine of you are IGA deficient. If there is IGA deficiency, test scores for individual IGA celiac antibody tests will be artificially low. You mention that there are genetic tendencies on your mother's side for thyroid problems. Perhaps there is also an inherited tendency for celiac disease on that side as well. It's only in the last couple of decades has the medical community begun to understand that celiac disease has long fingers that extend far beyond gut symptoms.
