Carla, what a wonderful picture. You are so pretty and love your dress. :)

Thank you, thank you, thank you!! :D Last Christmas Eve, standing in front of my stove cooking!! :P

TheDave Newbie
Dave, you have to put Town Hottie and Town Troublemaker in your job description.

Done...but I must disagree

Boy oh boy.

I leave to have dinner and you guys go south on me.

May I remind you that Rachelville has rules of decorum and dress. Mr. Dave--you at least need a tank top on while working we can't have all the women falling all over themselves (whether it be from laughter or fainting  ). The rest of you, Mother Hen is back on patrol and expects better behavior. :P

It would be laughter...but my apologies to the Mother Hen!

:lol::lol::lol:

Village idiot you better fix you signature... :o:lol:

Done.

NO EFFIN' AFLAC GEESE!!!!!

If we have the aflac bird I'm moving out of Rachelville.

Don't ask why, too traumatic. A guy and a lot of vodka. I'll leave it at that.

Besides, the AFLAC bird is a DUCK. Geese honk, they don't quack

(That was a premature post, I'm all caught up now though, as of 8:56pm)

Hmmm...ok, sounds like a pretty interesting story though!

And where are the Altoids?????

No that would be my parrot! That's what happens when you get a friend to babysit for a week, they teach your bird to say AFFLAC!!!!

I'm in your time zone, too!!!

Sorry about your parrot! I would kill whoever babysit your bird!

OMG- I go get a colonoscopy and have 20 pages to read, The Dave is half-naked and i don't even know him, and we're slow dancin', swaying to the music and Karen is ALREADY in the stright jacket. GREAT googly moogly i say! That'll learn me to take time out for an alien probe. :P

It was fine. My colon is A OK endoscopically speaking (sorry Dave- there is colon talk on here  )

but won't know about microscopically OK on Friday. She took biopsies and pictures (wwhich I will NOT post for your viewing pleasure  ). No evidence of colitis or IBD. She thinks probably C Diff despite negative test, but also is checking my thyroid, and it could be gall bladder because some people develop chronic D after having it removed (so then can I have it back please? )

Carla- I LOVE your new pic. So pretty!!!!!!!

Gotta run. Long day, many drugs (most of which were good but I have narcotic nightmares- these long dream that I can't escape from where mean, yucky things are happening). narcotics are NOT my friend. Would rather drink a bottle of tequila and hold a stick between my teeth. I'm probably the only perspn on the planet to take that!!!!! I'm tired. Yawn!!!! And it was a long day- had to leave for Boston at 5 a.m., endure alien probe, take said narcotics and then catch up on 20 pages in Rachelville. Want my bed!!!!! Love to all, esp. the purple glittery bats, Beverly

Oh my gosh! I'm to my own post, so I'm caught up!!! You all have been busy!

Carla- I LOVE your new pic. So pretty!!!!!!!

Thanks, yours is still the best!! :D

Glad everything went well today. Colonoscopies are a blast! <_<

I think it would be safe to take off the jacket until night fall...when it gets late you might need to put it back on....

Dave, Dave, Dave........... you don't know me very well, do you......... It is NEVER safe with me around..... :D

Do the geese in Rachelville go around yelling AFFLAC?

-Dave

They are Canada Geese - they end everything with "eh"........

Beverly, if it is microscopic (collagenous) colitis they were looking for, it wouldn't be visible during the colonoscopy anyway. The only way to confirm is with a pathologist looking at the biopsy samples through a microscope.....

Okay, straightjacket going back on........

Beverly, glad everything went well today! That sounds horrible what the narcotics do to you, probably would do the same to me. I don't mix well with drugs.

Carla, good to hear you had such a great experience at Maggianos :)

I didn't make Dave do it, I just ordered him to :lol:

You can take it off if you don't agree with it...

Yikes, That doesn't sound like fun.

Talitha's got her 3 month check back with the nephrologist on Thursday. We don't expect any problems and neither does he (the doctor).

I've got to get all the kidlets to bed. I'll be back later.

Night to all who need to leave before I get back. :P

Good luck tomorrow Vincent! It'll be over before ya know it!

I go for my endo on August 16th. I hate those things..... But we are desperately hoping there are little villi soldiers standing at attention!

Julie,

How's the diet going?

Did Rachel get lost. Grocery shopping takes up sooooo much time. :P

Dave,

Are you still with us? You're being awfully quiet if you are.

Another late night for Mitch. He went in between 4-5 this morning and still isn't home. :(

Guest Robbin

Good googly moogly gosh-I am gone for a few hours and The Dave is half naked (I even did an f5 and didn't SEE it, lol), drive by postings, everyone else asleep  I am on daylight savings time too, but have insomnia quite alot.

Andrea, when do you sleep, girl! I meant to mention before, but my dh's grandmother was named Talitha. I never knew another. I love Biblical names, too.

Hey, The Dave, so, you work with Rachel? What exactly do you do? Is there a Mrs. Village Idiot? Tell us more about yourself. What are your hobbies? Do you by any chance make scrunchies or bracelets? Enquiring minds want to know, lol :P

Wow...he must get some crazy OT!

I'm still here.....lurking mostly....not busy tonight...full moon must be gone huh?

AndreaB Contributor

Hey Robbin,

It's great to see you this late.

I usually head off sometime between 10:30 and 11:30 and don't get up until 7:30 or 8:00. Kids don't get up until between 7-8. I'm one of those that like to sleep my 8 hours. Kids names...Talitha, Micah and Seth....all bible names.

Wow...he must get some crazy OT!

Don't I wish. He gets paid by the mile. I'm one the phone with him now. He's about 2 hours away and waiting for another truck to get loaded, then he'll be on his way home. It'll be about midnight before he gets home and then he's out the door around 5 if not earlier.

Interesting you mention MCAS. I have come across mcas before but I wasn’t entirely sure if that’s what it was. When I eat certain food like dairy or soy my face gets so hot and I feel flush and my heart rate shoot’s up. And sometimes my bottom lip swells or I get hives somewhere. This started happening after I had a really bad case of Covid.  Before that I was able to eat all those things (minus gluten) I was diagnosed with celiac way before I had Covid.  Hmm, not sure really. I may look for a different allergist my current one told me to take Zyrtec and gave me an epi pen.

This is all really useful information, thank you so much to you both.    I have a history of B12 and vit D deficiency which has always just been treated and then ignored until it’s now again.

Welcome to the forum, @Gill.brittany8! There are two main genes that have been identified as creating potential for developing celiac disease, HLDQ2 and HLDQ8. Your daughter has one of them. So, she possesses genetic the potential to develop celiac disease. About 40% of the general population carries one or both of these genes but only about 1% of the general population develops celiac disease. It takes both the genetic potential and some kind of triggering stress factor (e.g., a viral infection or another prolonged health problem or an environmental factor) to "turn on" the gene or genes. Unfortunately, your daughter's doctor ordered a very minimal celiac antibody panel, the tTG-IGA and total IGA. Total IGA is not even a test per celiac disease per se but is a check for IGA deficiency. If the person being checked for celiac disease is IGA deficient, then the scores for individual IGA tests (such as the tTG-IGA) will be abnormally low and false negatives can often be the result. However, your daughter's total IGA score shows she is not IGA deficient. You should consider asking our physician for a more complete celiac panel including DGP-IGA, TTG_IGG and DGP-IGG. If she had been avoiding gluten that can also create false negative test results as valid antibody testing requires having been consuming generous amounts of gluten for weeks leading up to the blood draw. Do you know if the GI doc who did the upper GI took biopsies of the duodenum and the duodenum bulb to check for the damage to the small bowel lining caused by celiac disease? Having said all that, her standard blood work shows evidence of possible celiac disease because of an elevated liver enzyme (Alkaline Phosphatase) and low values for hemoglobin.

Hi everyone  After years of stomach issues being ignored by doctors, my 9 y/o daughter finally had an upper endoscopy which showed a ton of stomach inflammation. The GI doctor ordered some bloodwork and I’m attaching the results here. Part will be from the CBC and the other is celiac specific. I’m not sure what’s relevant so I’m just including extra information just in case.   The results are confusing because they say “No serological evidence of celiac disease. tTG IgA may normalize in individuals with celiac disease who maintain a gluten-free diet. Consider HLA DQ2 and DQ8 testing to rule out celiac disease.” But just a few lines down, it says DQ2 positive. Can someone help make sense of this? Thanks so much.  result images here: https://ibb.co/WFkF0fm https://ibb.co/kHvX7pC https://ibb.co/crhYp2h https://ibb.co/fGYFygQ

Those are great points and some follow up thoughts and ideas. I think you're both stating the same thing in two different ways, but I appreciate the "accuracy" of what you're getting to.   1. Are you both stating that the "too salty of a taste" could be triggered by a histamine reaction, and the flavor is coming from the electrolytes? If that is the case, wouldn't the individuals mouth always be salty during a "Glutening" situation, or are we saying that the person could get "use to the flavor" until introducing food or beverage and that could be enough to "stir the pot" and notice the salty flavor? 2. To push back on "#1": If that were true anyone with issues of histamine releasing foods/treatments would experience the same thing. Also, I did not experience a situation where most beverages were "too salty". Thoughts?
