:lol::lol::lol: Human flesh :lol::lol::lol:

Don't feel bad, I did the same thing. It wasn't my fault though ... the store mixed the color wrong, took two coats to cover the wrong color. Then, as I was painting the beaded board on the ceiling I kept cussing out the designer who put the beaded board there to begin with. BTW, I designed the bathroom

Cool! I guess I'll be second Mother Hen in this case. :P:lol:

Yea, and being the oldest of six with a sick mom, she's quite the mother hen herself!!

Well, all the gluten-free people in our house are here!!! Morgan, Chloe, and me!! Morgan has her own laptop, so do I. The family computer is disconnected from the internet right now, so Chloe is having a fit. Maybe I'll let her on mine later.

Keep us posted!!! We're waiting to hear!!

Did he tell you to buy some new running shoes? Or was he okay with the boots?

Have I seen Chloe.....I don't think so.

How old are your daughters if I may ask.

Oh yes....this humor and madness in one is very enjoyable :D

If everyone was over here, then, OMG, it would truely be madness!!!! Rachelville would have five more town idiots since they are all gluten eaters, and our house would be a civil war for the computer...if it's not already in the midst of that war now.

Oh Lordy NO. Carla already signed Adam up as Comic. If we had another Dave in here we'd never get anything done!:P:D

Welcome Morgan and Swittenauer and no you musn't go back, people get lost. The short synopsis of the thread is Rachel now consumes gallons of icecream.:lol::lol:

Painting....

I consider myself the mis-tint Queen as our house is painted with $10.00 gallons of paint, I've had to be patient to get the colors I wanted  but then that meant I haven't painted that often. I will also mix my own versions with similar paints.

That is the great thing about buying a tacky little house that doing anything at all improves. Our kitchen walls were so bad I decoupaged them with fancy party napkins and now a friend describes it as feeling like you are inside of a chinese lantern.

I love decorating shows and always have some project on the go.

Morgan is 18. Chloe is 13. Chloe generally posts on the teenager board, but hasn't been on in a while. She's usually asking what candy is okay to eat! She's like you, few symptoms, positive Enterolab test, but now feels it when she gets glutened.

Our kitchen walls were so bad I decoupaged them with fancy party napkins and now a friend describes it as feeling like you are inside of a chinese lantern.

 Sounds cute!!

Morgan, Welcome! :D Love your picture. :P

Your are welcome to a job in this wonderful town of Rachelville. What are your interests/hobbies ect. Tell us about yourself.....how did you find the forum and I must say the bravery to tackle this thread.:blink:

We can see names at the bottom of the page of who is on the thread. :) Looking forward to talking to you more......I'm the Mother Hen of the group but I'm not the only one. :P

Thank you

1. How did I find out about this? Well my Mom is on here ALL THE TIME!!!! Just like I hang out on myspace or facebook.....she hangs out on here :) I never got on here at first bc I am not diagnosed or anything. When our family moved to OH in February, Mom hung back and lived with me in IN so that I didn't have to change high schools in the middle of my senior year. We had only a small kitchen and so we kept it, for the most part, gluten free. In May, I decided to go completely gluten free. I found that my allergies, which are normally absolutely terrible, disappeared. I also noiced a few other differences....although by this time, I forget what those differences are. I still haven't been tested mainly bc I don't want to have to be as careful as everyone else....I don't worry as much about cross contamination and I still eat some chocolate that may questionable (Baby Ruths):rolleyes:

2. Where did I find the bravery to tackle this thread? I don't know....by now I don't think it matters what I write. I'll at one point or another sound ignorant, stupid, and smart  . It doesn't matter when I write...all of these points will come across, so I figured I better get started B)

3. What are my interests and hobbies? Umm, I'm going to college this year and am going to major in Journalism and Spanish. I like to be involved. I used to dance, but when I started going to hs, I quit bc there was no dance team and I started playing sports. I wasn't very good, but it was fun. Since it's summer right now I really like to swim. Oh... and I work in a hair salon. I think that's about it

What!!!???? We don't talk about that on here!!! :o

but when I started going to hs

She was homeschooled pretty much all the way through 10th grade.

My turn to brag ... she graduated 7th in her class ... only because of the B's I gave her in homeschooling! She only ever got one B+ in "real" school (honors history, I think)!!!

Morgan- you will fit in perfectly

Beverly, your Dad sounds so cute! Have a fun father/daughter day :)

Vincent- glad you survived your test

mia mia- you are so sweet. I hope you are having a better day!

Susie- why must paint colors always sound like yummy ice cream flavors???? I think they do that on purpose, especially for people who are recently casein/dairy free

To my casein free/dairy free friends- what are some goodies we can have (obviously gluten-free too)??

Welcome mommida and swittenauer :)

 Hi All--Another drive by--gotta hurry to store --Rachel-I must tattle on The Dave-he was on earlier. Tell Hank (er, whoever is boss) on him! :D I think he is playing hookie again., lol. Hope you are all having a great day.

Welcome Newbies-

Susan- Oh no, not more fumes!! Maybe you can sponge another color over it a little darker to make a marbled/mottled effect. Call it European and everyone will love it.

rinne-your "chinese lantern" effect sounds warm and cozy. I love HGTV-and This Old House.

I'm off----(ok, no smart remarks, lol)

Rachel-

can we get a ketotifen update

Sure...although I hope I dont blind anyone with my update. :P

Just kiddin....nothing new here to report. Still taking it but my problem is this...I get home and I'm hungry. I take the pill and then get right into eating. I know this is not the way to do it but I seem to be too imaptient to wait 30 minutes. Of course on my lunch break I dont have time to be sitting here waiting...I just need to eat and get back to work. Oh...and of course while I'm eating I'm also catching up on the "mile a minute" thread.

I imagine if the Keto works...its very subtle...it works slowly and gradually over time helping the gut to heal. No dramatic changes overnight.

I know my doctor put other people on it around the same time I started and last week at my appt. she asked how it was going so far. I said no dramatic changes yet...I cant tell a difference yet. She looked very surprised...shocked even. From the look on her face I suspected that the other patients may have been reporting improvements. I should have asked....I'll ask next time I speak with her. I've been missing some of my doses lately...just forgetting to take it. The times that I do take it I'm eating immediately after....this could be why I'm lagging behind.

Also the others have been on it longer I think. Maybe around a month longer.

As time goes on and I get a little better I tend to not notice the improvements I make because its so gradual and also because I focus on the fact that I'm still not 100%.

The other day "The Dave" said that he can tell I've improved alot....also my doctor said I'm much much better than when I first started seeing him. My Mom and others remind me constantly of how bad I used to be and how little I complain these days in comparison. I guess its easier for others to notice these things than it is for me....I need to be reminded. I can really see it when I review my food diaries though...I can see how bad things were not that long ago.

No but seriouslyJulie- why do you get more pretty with each picture you post if that is a result of cutting out histamines I might really be forced to give up my beloved spinach!!!

:lol::lol::lol:

Funny miamia,

Really though...you should try cutting it out briefly....you might be pleasantly surprised. Just because you dont think you are reacting to it doesnt mean it cant be draging you down...it can if you are sensitive to either the histamines or the salicylates. Spinach is not just on the "high" list for these....its on the "very high" list.

I skipped to the end of this thread. There is nooooo way I'm going to read all of this or I might get hooked also. Ha!

Hi Swittenaur! :)

Wecome to our epic thread....how is your hubby doing? Has he had alot of improvement?

The short synopsis of the thread is Rachel now consumes gallons of icecream.:lol::lol:

ROFL...

Ummm yeah sometimes I'm like OMG....I can eat dairy!!! Other times I'm thinking maybe not.... <_<

Right now I'm on a roll...still eating it by the truckloads...no sugar though.

Matter of fact I just ate over a pint of it just sitting here catching up.

OMG...it was soooo good. It hasnt been as great without the sugar but sometimes I'll add fruit to help it out. Today I used some agave and also more vanilla flavoring then normal. Holy Cow...it was great!! I ate all of it! :D

Ummm...is this normal? Patti, Vincent...you guys know how much it comes to when you use the Cuisinart. Well...I eat all of it at once...do I need an intervention?

Sombody stop me!

Rachel will blind you with SCIENCE!!

:lol::lol::lol:

Susan...theres no stopping me. :D

Welcome Morgan (Carla's daughter)! :D

Have to be running along now. Gotta get back to work. Cant be getting "The Dave" mad at me... :)

Ohh...this is a special announcement from the Pres.

I just want to say that I LOVE this thread and all that it represents and how it has brought all of us together. Just want to remind everyone that we want to keep it fun, carefree, comfortable, and yes, with a little scientificness here and there (just to annoy Susan :P ). We also need to rememeber that we should keep it CLEAN.

R-Ville has alot more visitors and we want everyone to feel safe and comfy here....well at least I do. ;)

Its sometimes easy for us to forget we're on a public forum while we're having so much fun and so far we've been (I think) very decent. Just want to keep it that way. I would hate to lose this thread but we have to respect the board rules if we want to continue having fun. :)

Ok...thats all...be back later! :D

love you all!

@Rogol72, dermatitis herpetiformis occurs in a minority of celiac patients and if the OP hasn't developed it yet I doubt it will show up in the future. I think it unwise to use a scare tactic that probably won't materialize in the OP's experience. It has a good chance of backfiring and having the opposite effect.
    • Rogol72
Hi @trents, You're correct. The OP mentioned fatigue and vitamin deficiencies as the only symptoms at the time of diagnosis. Since the family are not taking him/her seriously and find them to be too fussy, I suggested showing them pictures of dermatitis herpetiformis as one of the consequences of not taking the gluten-free diet seriously ... would make life easier for him/her, and the family might begin to take his/her strict gluten-free diet more seriously. A picture says a thousand words and the shock factor of dermatitis herpetiformis blisters might have the desired effect. The OP did say ... "How do you deal with people close to you who just refuse to understand? Are there any resources anyone could recommend for families that are short and easy to read?".  @sillyyak52, It might also help mentioning to your family that Coeliac Disease is genetic and runs in families. Any one of them could develop it in the future if they have the HLA DQ 2.5 gene. Here's a Mayo Clinic study calling for screening of family members of Coeliacs ... https://newsnetwork.mayoclinic.org/discussion/mayo-clinic-minute-celiac-disease-screening-for-family-members/ https://newsnetwork.mayoclinic.org/discussion/mayo-clinic-study-calls-for-screening-of-family-members-of-celiac-disease-patients/ I got glutened a few months ago because I missed the may contains statement on a tub of red pesto. It was my own fault but it happens.

Thank you, Scott!  This is just what I needed.  Appreciate your site very much and all of your time and energy that goes into it! Kind Regards, Peg
    • Hopeful1950
Oh yes.  I would never recommend taking it for an extended period of time.  When 70% of my body was covered in blistering itchy sores, an amazing doctor prescribed it diagnostically because I was unwilling to do a gluten challenge after already going strictly gluten-free in desperation after 10 years of suffering and being poo pooed by dermatologist after dermatologist. The fact that it stopped the itch and mostly cleared the rash after about 2 months was diagnostic for him.  I stopped it and have remained strictly gluten-free with very few flares since that time (over 10 years ago).  So the fact that it cleared the rash was diagnostic for me.
