The other day "The Dave" said that he can tell I've improved alot....also my doctor said I'm much much better than when I first started seeing him. My Mom and others remind me constantly of how bad I used to be and how little I complain these days in comparison. I guess its easier for others to notice these things than it is for me....I need to be reminded. I can really see it when I review my food diaries though...I can see how bad things were not that long ago.

Matter of fact I just ate over a pint of it just sitting here catching up.

OMG...it was soooo good. It hasnt been as great without the sugar but sometimes I'll add fruit to help it out. Today I used some agave and also more vanilla flavoring then normal. Holy Cow...it was great!! I ate all of it! :D

Sombody stop me!

Have to be running along now. Gotta get back to work. Cant be getting "The Dave" mad at me... :)

Ohh...this is a special announcement from the Pres.

I just want to say that I LOVE this thread and all that it represents and how it has brought all of us together. Just want to remind everyone that we want to keep it fun, carefree, comfortable, and yes, with a little scientificness here and there (just to annoy Susan :P ). We also need to rememeber that we should keep it CLEAN.

R-Ville has alot more visitors and we want everyone to feel safe and comfy here....well at least I do. ;)

Its sometimes easy for us to forget we're on a public forum while we're having so much fun and so far we've been (I think) very decent. Just want to keep it that way. I would hate to lose this thread but we have to respect the board rules if we want to continue having fun. :)

Ok...thats all...be back later! :D

love you all!

Rachel,

Your positive upbeat posts say a lot too. Since we can't see you...that's all we have to go off of. How bout a new picture so we can see how well you are doing? Dave where are you...along with a picture of the pups take one of Rachel so she has no excuse about posting an updated on.

Ice cream....yes I can see how it would be easy to eat a whole container....especially on an empty stomach. Uuummm Rachel, you should at least cut down to half a container.

Dave wouldn't get mad would he.....we might run him out of town if he does. (Emoticon, what I call the Raspberry smile)

I third the motion of considering others and keeping things clean enough for all viewers and forum rules.

Perfectly and completely normal... as long as you do not mind packing on all that fat! Theres a reason I do not often buy the indgreidents any more...and you just discovered it LOL

BTW_ I got a problem... if the only way to R-Ville is flying I can not come for a while... turns out after my tests this morning I will set off the radition alarms at the airports for a month or so.:lol:

Funny....but scary.

 Vincent, maybe we can hot air balloon you in, they would be so pretty in our Rachelville sky

:)

.....or, maybe the Dingo Wrangler, Susie Q, and her fabulous dingo dogs would dingosled you in....

Love those ideas Julie. Laughing!

just a drive-by...

Rachel - - love your wise president-ness and thoughts...so true.....we must keep it wholesome as God has clearly blessed our fair land and we must not scare too terribly much the hapless observer or brave interloper of our site! :)

Vincent - - there are many gluten-free paths to R-ville - - not to worry!

 dingosled

they're pretty talented, but.....Tika has cross-country skiied in her past, but Annie would just roll over and make you pet her belly, as always..... :P

See what you started Donna.

Vincent could get here real fast with Annie in charge. Laughing.

Drive-by post:

It's 12:11 here and I haven't had any chocolate today either! :P No plums either.

YAAAHHHHH DONNA!!!!!!! Keep it up girl.

:lol::lol:

yay Donna!

OMG I just did multiple quotes that I learned from our shirtless Idiot......

hold me, am SO Excited.....

Uuuummmmm, Dave is no longer the shirtless idiot. He's got to follow Rachelville rules also.

I just did multiple quotes too. Thanks Dave!

Emoticon edit....too many.

Rachel--I have to agree with Andrea. Actually, I was thinking the same thing last night. Judging by your posts, you do seem to be more upbeat and I might even say sparkling! Seriously, I have noticed a positive change. I never used to hear you talk much about your off-line social life, and even that lately has looked like you're out and having fun. This is so good to see and I hope that this observation is right :D

I agree also about keeping the thread family-friendly. Hope nothing I said offended anyone

 Patti - am cracking up here - - YOU? Offend anyone? my Lord, woman, you are the epitome of kindness and calm, good will, and preternatural loveliness....I've heard nary an off-color or even slightly less-than gracious post from you, ever, anywhere, you silly GOOSE.....(not the auxigo-detecting protective kind)...

and yes, I echo what you said about our RAchel, such a change in her posts, God is smiling on her... :)

here's something funny, Rachel and I once had a cat fight on another thread about Brangelina :o She has had the grace to forgive me and allow me into R-ville....I was still out of my mind during that time, still drinking my wine and hanging out with you-know-who....and she was poisoned by many contaminants....we are all better now.... :)

Me too!

My dad is so cute- he's a very handsome, well-kempt 76 year old Irish gentleman who STILL, even though they are 36 and 38 years old, treats his daughters like princesses. He brought me flowers today after my testing yesterday. He's been lonely since my mom passed away 3 years ago tho. :(

Actually- he would LOVE Rachelville as he has gone all organic on me. Shops at Trader Joe's exclusively. But, no computer and not gluten free so he can be the surrogate visiting dad to you Susan and maybe Carla's mom's companion or escort when they visit Rachelville (of course passing through the de-contamination chmaber first). His dream has always been to live in San Francisco. we went there together 2 springs ago on a father daughter trip.

I'll change my avatar for a few days so you can see him.

Susan, you're sweet--but I have my "moments", like everyone else and can't remember everything I've posted (as I tend to post WAY too much!! ) Just covering my bases ;)

I do remember the Brangelina bru-ha-ha between you and Rachel. Both of you handled the difference of opinion like the ladies that you both are. :D

Now, FLESH COLORED WALLS--ew! Must change that asap. I know how much painting sucks (lord knows) but flesh colored--no. How about a wash over the top--using glaze and a complimenting color? I once did that in a powder room and it turned out rather nice. Easier than re-painting the whole thing

Bev--Your dad sounds great! I just talked to mine this morning :)

Vincent--Glad that your situation is stable. Continue to take good care of yourself and stay on top of this thing. Is it ok with your doctor to run? If it's still hot down there, don't stay out too long. :)

I sound like a mom now

Vincent--One other thing. Have you tried New Balance? My son has problems with his feet, and those are what the podiatrist recommended. They come in many sizes and widths :)

Ok, guys quick post.....Seth is being a crabby baby and I need to see if I can cheer him up. I think he may be teething but nothing apparent. Haven't seen any shadows yet. He's almost 9 months old, I hope he gets some soon!

Patti,

Can't think of anything that you have posted. I now some of mine have been couched, but I will also work on that.

Bev,

Have to agree about your Dad. What fun you must have with him!

Susan,

You're always so sweet. Take care with the painting, I hope the paint doesn't make you sick.

Donna,

You're always sweet too. Heck, you all are!

Julie, Cecile, Rachel, Robbin, Rinne, Carla, Morgan, Karen, Lynne, Lisa, Miamia, Chelsea and all the other gals, as well as Picard, Ryan, Vincent and Dave.........HI!!!

No, my dad needs a companion, too! He's here, not my mom (I never see her actually).

Rachel, I agree with you about this thread. It is such a warm and gracious place to be that I feel quite protective of it. :)

Patti, glaze is definitely worth a try, much easier than repainting.

Vincent I am glad to here that you are stable for now, please take care of yourself.

Hello to everyone.

My sister and I went to look at a restaurant for sale today. It is actually a rather sweet little place but it is in a very rough neighbourhood. Just $59,000.00 though and ready to go. I would love to open a little gluten free cafe just a few hours a day and also produce a product for sale through other outlets.

So I came home and baked a cake with carob and coconut oil and maple syrup and now it just has to cool before I find out if I have created anything tasty.

Welcome to the forum, @Kiwifruit, I agree further testing is needed.  Disaccharidase deficiency is a symptom of Celiac disease.   On your test results, this line  "IgA: 0.9 g/l (norm 0.8 - 4.0)" is referring to Total IgA and it's very low.  People with low or deficient Total IgA should also have DGP IgG test done.  Low Total IgA means you are making low levels of tTg  IgA as well, leading to false negatives or "weak positives".  Maybe a DNA test for known Celiac genes.   Anemia, diabetes, and thiamine deficiency can cause test results like these.  Get checked for B12 deficiency anemia and have your iron (ferritin) checked.  Vitamin D deficiency is common, too.   Might be time to find a gastrointestinal doctor who is more familiar with diagnosing Celiac Disease.   Best wishes on your journey!  Please keep us posted on your progress.
    • trents
Yes, there is a trend in the medical community to forego the endoscopy/biopsy and grant an official celiac diagnosis based on high tTG-IGA antibody scores alone. This trend started in the UK and is spreading to the USA medical community. And yes, 5-10x the normal level is what I have been seeing as the threshold as well. Here is the relevant section dealing from the article above dealing with the importance of the total IGA test being ordered. See the embedded attachment.
    • hmkr
Ok, interesting. Not what I was thinking that meant. I'm reading the article and trying to understand. I see this “According to the latest research, if the blood test results are at certain high levels that range between 5-10 times the reference range for a positive celiac disease diagnosis, it may not be necessary to confirm the results using an endoscopy/biopsy” My IgG is 90, which is 6 times. So to me that means it's highly likely I do have it.
    • trents
It just means you aren't IGA deficient, i.e., that IGA deficiency cannot have given you artificially low scores in the individual IGA celiac antibody tests. This is explained in the article Scott linked above.
    • hmkr
Normal range: 70 - 400 mg/dL, a little above middle of the range. So what does that mean? Thank you! I will check out that page you linked. Appreciate it!
