Carla,

If you decide that you want to use a deodorant, I recommend a crystal deoodorant like Thai (the one I use). It's nothing but mineral salt--and works great. It also lasts forever!

I even got my husband to use it--and he likes it, too.

That's what I have now ... I use it when I remember.

Energizing Soak — This stimulating herbal bath is especially good for an energy boost after a long day.

3 tbsp dried nettle

3 tbsp dried red clover blossoms

2 tbsp dried peppermint

5 drops peppermint essential oil

5 drops rosemary essential oil

1 tsp distilled witch hazel

Place the dried herbs in the center of a piece of cloth like a cotton handkerchief. Gather the corners of the cloth together and tie with a piece of string, making a loop large enough to fit over your bathtub faucet.

Hang this herbal "teabag" from the faucet so that the bathwater runs through it. While you wait for the tub to fill, dilute the essential oils with the witch hazel to prevent any skin sensitivity to the concentrated oil. When the tub is full, add the essential oil mixture. ( Oils will dissipate too quickly if added while the hot water is still running. ) Swirl the water around with your hand to disperse the oils. Place the herbal teabag in the tub.

Dry–Brush Your Body — To enhance the effect of the bath, Vukovic recommends dry brushing your entire body before you step into the bathtub. Once you have entered the tub, soak for 15–20 minutes, adding additional hot water as needed to maintain a constant water temperature. For an increased energizing effect, follow this bath with a cold shower.

This is from the link above, I think I'll be doing some shopping tomorrow, this bath sounds wonderful.

One of the things I liked about his protocol for Lyme was the emphasis on results and the awareness that without detoxing first no amount of supplements will help. It is much like what you have said Rachel.

Rinne,

I read that protocol yesterday....I guess its used for heavy metal toxicity as well as Lyme. I think if I have to go through chelation it would have to be a very slow process and at low doses. I'm thinking that my liver is probably severely impaired because of the way my body reacts to chemicals.

The doctor I saw for my allergy testing and hair analysis wants me to have my amalgams removed. I didn't want to mess with it since I'm nursing. I don't think Seth could handle the overload, but then again maybe it wouldn't be as bad if it's done right. I still need to have 4 crowns which will take care of most of the amalgams. I'd have two left after that.

I've read good and bad things about amalgam removal. My doctor believes that my intolerances are related to the amalgams.

I worried about things less when I was nursing than when I was pregnant. I was either nursing or pregnant for 10 years, so I had to do things at one time or another!! I would have it done a little at a time though to be sure. Of course, if you're not pregnant when he stops, you could do it then.

I use a crystal deodorant (not sure of the brand and too lazy to go check) but lately it's gotten all crumbley and when I use it it scratches and HURTS....any idea why it would be doing that?? I can poke it with my finger and bits of it crumble off :(

I loved it when it didn't fall apart.

I've been using the same one for about 6 months, and it's still smooth. In fact, it dosen't even look much smaller.

Is yours getting old? I'm not sure what could be causing the breakage. Some that I've seen are smaller and irregularly shaped. I would imagine those would crumble faster.

Melannen,

The crystal deodarant I use is a roll-on....its not crumbly at all. I think the brand is Crystal....I'd have to look though....I get it at Whole Foods.

It's not that old, I think I've had it for about 9-10 months.

I went and got it, It just says "Crystal" where the brand name would be. It's in a purple tube and rounded on the top (at least it was before it started crumbling, now it's got a big dimple). It says it'll last a year, it doesn't look any smaller really but maybe I just need to get a new one.

Rachel - sounds like yours is the same one, or at least made by the same company.

I'll definitely look into it! I've got to go shopping tomorrow (my sister's birthday's coming up, do I know what I'm getting her? Of course not ) maybe I'll swing by Wild Oats, that's where I found it the first time

Patti, orange hair?? I must have missed something

Andrea, I am going to guess Rachel is eating Haagen Dazs...am I right?

Mia Mia- I was just going to post something to you today, been wondering how your food challenges have been going. So sorry you had a bad day yesterday.

Vincent, sounds like the coconut might have been spoiled. If the eye was easy to get into that would be my first clue, only because I have heard they are like fortresses to break open  and then the fact that it was yellow and tasted like household cleaner.....I'm sure a bag of sugar would be needed after that

I made cookies last night  Peanut butter chocolate chunk cookies and they were GOOD :D I don't know what is going on with me but I am Racheling cookies lately, either Pamelas Chocolate Chunk or the ones I have made.

We are all Racheling everything right now, what's up with that? Must be the moon or something....

Susie, hope your mischevious girl is ok, that can't be good for the digestive tract, I wouldn't think  but then again dogs do eat everything, like canine garbage disposals

Off to watch football, have a great day everyone! :)

Julie-

the food testing has been good and bad. I found a few more things I can tolerate which is great but have had a few really bad reactions . Last week was pretty much lost to one bad meal. I feel like I ma fighting myself because part of me wants to just eat whatever can leave me most comfortable and part of me knows that I have to try new things and risk the reactions because I don't seem to be getting better by playing it safe and seem to be able to tolerate less and less that way. So frustrating.

How are you doing?

Whats going on with your diet ? You seem to be feeling better or you had been is it still positive results with the histamine diet you were following?

Rachel, I hope that you will see positive results quickly once you can begin a treatment. I'm worried about my liver too. :( I know that I need help with all this and the last thing I am going to do is run out to my local health food store and trust that the chlorella and other detox products they are selling are to be trusted. I learned my lesson with the Bentonite. I completely agree with you that finding a good doctor is critical and now, hopefully, that I have found someone I plan on waiting till I see them to do more than the salt and Vitamin C protocol. The doctor emailed me the Klinghardt protocol the day I spoke with him and coincidentally it is the first step in the protocol for Lyme. I know I've said that before.

I think the article is interesting for anyone interested in detoxing because it points out that it requires a balance of herbs and foods to be effective.

I am really struggling tonight. I dunno why, but I am on the very edge of rage, and I thought I had that beat. :( I am wondering about the 3 cups of cafinated coffee I had today, I gave up cafine a while ago cause it makes blood sugar harder to contorl (its a stimulant so everything works faster.. ie use up blood sugar faster), but was not an nazi aviodance... just swtiched to all decaf /caffree at home and kind of sorta stuck with it on the road... maybe ocasaional non caf free soda or ice tea if that was what was advalible (I aviod sugar much more carefully, so would always choose sugar-fre over decaf if had to choose).

I have struggeld with mental issues (Ursla pretty much dx'd me Aspbrugers Syndrom or some simmular spelling) , but I have been dx'd with all kinds of mental junk, for example (and not limited to ) ADD, ADHD, Socail Anexity Disorder, Perceptually Impaired, and so on. I could easily get bi-polar added to that list if I was ever honest with a doc (I prety much shut down in thier presnce, can not deal with ppl poking in to my life!) .

I go though periods of extremly easy anger to extremly easy tears, I can blow up over anything at all at anytime, and I cant handle any change form *my* routine, unless I first decide it.

I was soo hoping that if I could find my sickness (Hypoglycemia, celiac disease, iron deficnent anemia, what ever! just give me somthing I can fight!) and treat it that I could get better, I should have know better... been this way since long before I was sick... :( I have periods of good stable times, and I keep thinking FINALY I WIN!, but they never last.

It just realy sucks.

Dunno why I am saying this.. not like theres a cure or treatment to be had. I have tried some of the most powerful does of drugs prescribable... no impact AT ALL. No, not even side effects! It was like it was a sugar pill. :( errr a sugar-free sugar pill I guess

*sigh* Sorry to be so depressing.. just need to "talk" some where where I can keep from blowing up (backspace works wonders).

Rachel--24 Collaborator

Still reading...didnt get a single thing done today but not feeling too guilty about it since it was freakin raining outside!! Oh God....how will I ever handle the fact that summer is over!!?? :(

It wouldnt be so bad if I werent so sick and I had someone to cuddle with. :(

OK...so the author says that if you have problems with foods in the following classes it is not an allergy problem. Its because your liver is not metabolizing one of the basic components in the food. These lists arent complete....

Tyramine

All cheeses except cottage cheese and farmers cheese. sour cream, yogurt, liver from any meat, meat prepared with tenderizer, fermented sausage, unrefridgerated or fermented meat or fish, game meat, dried fish, pickled fish, shrimp paste, beer or ale, nonalchololic beer, red wine, sherry, avocado, yeast extracts, bananas, honeydew melons, canned or overripe figs, raisins, soy sauce, miso soup, bean curd, fermented beans and fermemted seasonings.

MAO Problem foods

overripe fava beans, anything with caffeine (coffee, tea, soda), chocolate and ginseng

Sulfites

This list is long and has been posted in the past so I'll just mention a few...

saurkraut, wine, grape juice, processed lemon and lime juice, dried fruit, molasses, pectin, gravies and sauces, fruit toppings, maraschino cherries, anything pickled, wine vinegar, fresh shrimp, dried potatoes, cornstarch, hominy, frozen potatoes, canned potatoes, fresh fruit salad, fresh mushrooms, grapes, beer, malt vinegar, dried cod, dried soup mix, instant teas, soft drinks, syrup, sugar, jams and jellies, gelatin, coconut, cookies, frozen pizza dough, crackers, canned items, etc

Also many pharmaceuticals contain sulfites

Melatonin

Oats, sweet corn, rice, japanese radish???, ginger, tomatoes, bananas and barley

Tryptophan

Spirulina, seaweed, soybean, cottage cheese, chicken liver, pumpkin seeds, grapefruit, turkey, chicken, watermelon seeds, almonds, peanuts, brewers yeast, malted milk, milk, ice cream and yogurt

Aspartame

People just plain react badly to this....

Salicylates

This list has been posted before....its mainly fruits and veggies.....especially dried fruit, almonds, spinach, berries, avocados, herbs and spices and lots of other stuff. Salicylates require sulfation so if thats not working right I guess you wouldnt be able to metabolize these foods well. Also included are synthetic colors, flavors, the preservatives BHA, BHT, and TBHQ <----I know this one is in Reeses peanut butter cups cuz it almost killed me last year when I thought I could just eat gluten-free.

Sulfur foods

These foods can actually attach themselves to mercury and cause the mercury to bounce around the body. They dont actually have the abilty to chelate the mercury though. These foods contain a group of "thiols" which I guess can bind with mercury. The chelators (DMPS and DMSA) contain 2 groups of "thiols" so they are able to get a stronger hold on the mercury and pull it from the body.

Eggs, dairy, bakery products containing whey, cysteine, eggs or enzymes, cabbage, bok choy, cauliflower, broccolli, brussel sprouts, kale, turnips, rutabega, asparagus, onions, shallots, leeks, garlic, and coffee.

From vitamins....cysteine, glutathione, msm, dmso, extracts from any of the above vegetables, chlorella, dairy source acidophilus. Also some heb extracts contain thiol groups in them. Its not good to have mercury being bounced around and not eliminated so these foods can cause alot of symptoms. Also if you have a problem with sulfur foods you also have a problem with sulfies cuz they have the same chemical make-up.

Vincent,

I have alot of the symptoms you listed and I know for sure I dont have Aspergers, ADD, Bi-polorism or any of that other stuff. Something happened to me 4 years ago when they started the dental work and even when I thought I was going crazy I knew deep down inside that something was causing all that stuff...it wasnt me and it wasnt something that couldnt be diagnosed or treated. I never felt like I had to accept what was happening to me nor did I feel I had to accept the doctors dx of depression. You dont have to accept it either.

My mom can come on here and tell you guys how bad I was before....getting hysterical all the time, throwing things, alternating between rage and crying fits of depression, wanting to die, having really bad emotional outbursts, never thinking clearly, etc...

I think I was that bad because for one thing I hant eliminated any toxic stuff from my food or environment plus I still had amalgams in my mouth.

I cant have caffeine either....I freak out on it. Even now. When I started the gluten-free diet I had Starbucks a few times....of course it got me sick regardless of the caffeine in it. I always ordered caffeine free but a couple times I forgot to tell the lady and I totally freaked out from the caffeine. It affects my mood some but mostly makes me feel weird and shaky all over.

At one point the doctors at Kaiser were telling my mom to admit me into the mental hospital. I actually wanted them too cuz even though I knew I wasnt crazy I thought that I'd be "safe" there and maybe they'd find out what was wrong since noone else was helping. I know better now though and I'm glad my mom didnt bring me there....they would have made me worse with drugs and who knows what else. I went on an organic diet instead and *poof*....the "mental" problems went away.

Dont feel bad about venting....I'm sure we all feel the same at times. I know I do....we're all here for each other though. :)

My doctor told me of someone who will do your whole mouth (removing amalgams) for, I think it was, around $2000. He's in Georgia. I know neither one of us have that kind of money. My doctor gave me a list of toxic free doctors/dentists for our area (northwest coast).

I bought my 100% Pure and Natural Crystal Deodorant called Crystalux at the Birkstock shoe store. I like it better that the balls. It is a roll on. It was more expensive but has lasted me forever. I only use a dab and never close to the breast area. So much talk of avoiding that area and even thou this is natural I avoid it anyway. I bought this and some shoes. My feet are too narrow for their shoes, I think <_< They were so cute with shells on them.

Hi Matt, like you I lost almost 3stone over 2yrs, my symptoms were exactly as you describe .    I was eventually referred  to a consultant who has been treating me for reflective coeliac.  I’ve been taking(  Budenofalk 3mg )steroids for the past 9 mths  and the course is coming to an end shortly. I’ve gained 2 stone and feel so much better in myself. Im due an endoscopy at the end of the course of steroids so unable to say if my villi’s have returned or my digestive system has repaired. But like you I was besides myself with worry.  Apparently the condition is quite unknown and the consultant at the hospital I attend has been in contact  with  Sheffield hospital who specialises in this condition. I hope this helps,    Deanne

How are you doing, @sadiec123?  Did you get through the holidays alright?    Have you been checked for nutritional deficiencies?  Many newly diagnosed Celiacs  are low in Vitamin D and many of the B vitamins like thiamine.  Thiamin insufficiency can cause weight loss and loss of appetite (anorexia) as well as affect mood.   Benfotiamine has been shown to promote intestinal healing and improve mood.
