It may not be popular, but I actually dislike Oprah because I feel like she thinks she's all that and a bag of chips. I USED to love her, but somewhere along the line she started to bother me. Now I can't watch her at all. I respect all she's done and how far she's come, but she gets on my nerves.

This is exactly how I feel about Oprah--I used to love her show years ago. Then, for one reason or another, I just didn't catch it for a while and now, she seems very different. Kind of "entitled", if you will. The whole show has a different feel....

I still watch when Dr. Oz is in

I think though that something very special is happening here, I trust that we have been drawn together somehow across the world, Mango I am thinking of you :) , and I know that life and light are a powerful force that we can trust. :)

I've been thinking the same thing about each one of you!

Donna,

Ouch! I hate those kind of car repairs. Never ending bills.....I know how you feel. I put all our stuff on credit card so I get to stress about making payments until who knows when. I still have to have 4 crowns done, probably next fall after I pay off most of the cc debt we currently have. Nothing like paying down and charging right back up. Hope our car doesn't cause us any problems. We have the 45k service we need to get done.

...

Patti, Donna, Susan.....whoever talked about muir glen,

I don't have problems with them, but I don't have multiple sensitivities, hopefully I won't develop them. Have developed enough intolerances.

Hope I didn't miss anyone. :unsure::ph34r:

Yah, unfortunately I put a lot of stuff on credit card too. :( I did pay cash for this one, but had to take a huge chunk out of my shakey savings account. :(:(

That is WAY cool Donna!!

How exciting....OMG...I'll have to go down there and buy one!! :D

I'll be like...."No...I dont need a haircut...could you please direct to Donna's bracelets though!!" Yeah...I'll have 20...gonna mail them to all my R-Ville buddies!

About the car stuff....THAT SUCKS!! :(

When it rains it pours...thats how it always happens for me too. Still looking forward to hearing about your appt.'s though.

I'm pretty excited about the bracelet thing too. Then my friend at church says I should give her a bunch of them and she'll take them to her "club" meetings. She has a large group of friends that meet regularly, almost like a club, and they like to buy stuff, lol. THEN, my other friend (the one that I travel with all the time and the one I'm going on the cruise with) said that she and a couple of people she works with are going to start selling stuff on eBay, and would I like to put some of my bracelets on their online store. I think SOMEONE is trying to give me a message, lol.

About the appointments...I'm excited to. I spent some time this weekend digging up old blood tests, all the path reports from the ampulla thing, etc. I plan to give the HR doctors as much info as I can possibly find, lol. Also very excited to see the mercury dentist...I'm so convinced that the mercury is a large contributor to my health issues.

Donna,

That does suck about your car, sorry to hear! $400 is the price of a really nice set of shocks/struts for most cars. Obviously most the money you will spend is on labor of getting everything off to get to the struts, so while it's off you might want to replace both of them at the same time. Might be a tiny bit more but it will save $$ in the long run. ;)

Thanks Dave!!!! I hadn't thought about that, but that's a great idea! I'm sure it wouldn't be long before the other one went too. The parts for Saturday's service were only $380-ish...the labor was $909!!!!! Unbelievable to me, lol.

I looked at the questionaire I must fill out, it is insanely detailed and of course I have left it to the last

I do the same thing, lol.

PLEASE tell me why I was a size 2 or 4 most of my life....and now.....can't lose weight to save my life....it may seem minor, but hell, when my figure goes......what will I do? removing gluten made me GAIN so much weight (15 - 20 pounds) and I DID need it, but don't want any more.....it's making me crazy...should I just start eating gluten like crazy to get my weight off?????????:angry::angry:

Meeeee tooooo!!! I have gained 10 pounds since going gluten free and can't seem to take it off, and I DIDN'T need it, lol. I only have 5 outfits that fit comfortably now. The only way I can take weight off is by cutting out most of the carbs--something I'm having a really hard time with lately. I am really having a hard time giving up the gluten-free goodies. If I just stick to meat, veggies and a little fruit I could drop the weight quickly.

and she always talks over her guests and panel of experts that she has on

Yep, this particularly bothers me...she asks an important question and her guest is answering, then she talks over and doesn't let them finish. This is one reason why I stopped watching most OTHER talk shows...hers seemed different, but not so much any more.

Yet another thing we have in common :D I gained back 10 of the 15 I lost while sick in 2 months post gluten-free! :o I've managed to put on another 10 or so--it varies--that I definately don't need

and they said that every day for three months they prayed that they would love themselves enough not to hurt themselves anymore

OMGosh, I LOVE this!!!!! I am going to steal it, lol.

It is very frustrating!!!

OMG Oprah is a cult leader, I just figured it out.

LMAO

I am coming up with an evil scheme, I think, I truly think, that tomorrow I am going to KRISPY KREME and am going to get THREE DONUTS and yes, I am going to eat them. Don't y'all even think of talking me out of it, I am in some kind of wicked devil-may-care frame of mine and maybe I can just have a giant poop-out and all of the weight will be gone. Harumph again.

;) <--------that is a winky face but I am not kidding!

YIKES! :o

DON'T DO IT!

That's what they feed the Auxigro geese! :o

It's true, the chemical formula for Krispy Kremes is as follows gLUteN + sUGar + faT^2 = POOP^10!

I wouldn't even toss them to the dingos. I'd just flush them down the toilet and eliminate the middle man. (make sure to wash your hands!) :o

Come back to us, don't cross over to the dark side :o

Please reconsider, we really don't want to call in your Stepford Neighbor for an intervention!

For any of you wanting to lose weight, get these demon, I mean damon braces ... I've lost three pounds I've worked very hard to gain!! If I lose one more pound my scale will start blinking at me that I'm too skinny  . I had lost 5 pounds before that due to my fatiguing adrenals (it can cause both gain and loss -- loss is usually a later stage). Now, my body is detoxing due to diet, supplements and sauna ... so the IBS symptoms are back. I've read that can be due to heavy metal detoxing ... so I think this is a good thing. It's not gluten, because I actually feel fine and have more energy than before ... not as much energy as what I'd consider "normal" but more than I had when I couldnt' get out of bed!

AndreaB Contributor

Morning all!

It seems that whether we need to gain or lose, it's challenging. Somehow, before being eductated here, I would have though it would be much easier to gain.

Haven't checked as to whether Susan has been on this morning......maybe she's avoiding us since she KNOWS what we'll say about those Krispy's.

Donna,

That's so great about all your bracelet leads! :D

Richard,

Good to see you and your lightheartedness here too. :)

Carla,

Your progress is interesting. Keep us posted. Glad you are feeling better, a little at a time.

ROFL -- interesting!

I used to have to watch my weight, back before my health got bad. But with one pregnancy I had trouble gaining -- at 6 months I had not gained one pound. Gaining is more difficult, for me anyway. It's also a mental thing ... after years of wanting to lose weight, now gaining is mentally difficult because my mind plays games on me ... I don't "want" to gain!! I don't see myself as so thin until I see a picture of myself, then I'm usually surprised. I'm also not as thin as many get ... I've never dipped below 120 (I'm almost 5'8"), so what I weigh is viewed as normal and good by society, but I know it's not good. Then again, I don't want to gain too much! But this adrenal diet is protein and veggies, so a lot of the loss is just from that and a lack of appetite. Now with the pain, on top of the lack of appetite, it's getting to be more difficult.

Rachel--24 Collaborator
NO!!! NO KRISPY CREMES!!!!

Poison is not the answer. Being healthy is better than being skinny. Size 2 or size 4 may have been your ideal body weight years ago, but you are not a teenager, and you should not have a teenager's body!

Ever see a skinny adult cat or skinny adult dog? They don't look healthy, do they? And you don't want to look like a concentration camp victim.

You know you wouldn't encourage any of us to eat gluten to lose weight.

DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!!!!! :(

Yeah....exactly...DONT DO IT!!!

Yikes...a couple lbs. is not worth the misery!!

They do test for it Donna. They tested my adrenals....it was one of the first tests they did. My adrenal function test didnt come back that bad. It wasnt normal but they said it looked pretty good considering the shape I'm in.

They gave me some stuff to support my adrenals but like everything else...I couldnt take it. <_<

He had told me that adrenals are always stressed when we have problems with our health but that it would improve if the underlying cause was adressed.

I used to watch Oprah years ago. I never watch it now...havent seen it in years.

So....what you guys are saying is that....Oprah has changed???

Thats a bummer. :(

So now she's better than everybody, doesnt let people talk, treats people bad when she travels, she knows it all, she thinks shes freakin royalty....and she's a cult leader????

OMG...what is this world coming to. :o

I used to really admire Oprah.....what a shame that the money and power got to her head. :(

Rinne...I dont wanna go on her show. <_<

I will try to talk about Lyme and Oprah will interrupt me and there will be NO way I could get my train of thought back. Then the whole world will see how stupified Lyme has made me.

Forget it....I'll just stay here. :)

Rinne,

I know you will come back from this trip with some good ideas about whats going on with you. I cant wait to hear all about it. Have a safe trip!

About the ironing....am I the only one who does NOT iron?? I probably havent picked up an iron in a whole bunch of years. I just buy stuff that doesnt need ironing. If its got some wrinkles I throw it in the dryer. Works for me. :)

My mom on the other hand. She gets back from vacation and has to wash and iron everything...she will spend an entire DAY ironing. Why would anyone do this on their last day of rest and relaxation??

I DON'T iron...I am usually just wrinkled, lol. Once in a while...I will if I HAVE to wear something and look nice...but that doesn't happen more than 1 time a year...mostly I'm just wrinkled.

I'm wrinkled too.

I have an iron and an ironing board in my closet (I have to set it up in my room though). I only iron when the legs of my jeans get all twisted in the dryer ... if I'm going to spend that much on jeans, they're not going to have twisted up legs!!!

Hubby has to send his clothes out ... I just won't do it. He likes heavy starch  , and his pants are too long for the ironing board.

jerseyangel Proficient

I don't iron either--unless I absolutely have to for a special occasion or something.

Guest melannen

I don't even iron for special occasions; I try to keep those sort of clothes hung up so they don't get too terribly wrinkled but even if they are I'm still too lazy to iron them

This is what I do with my iron: Open Original Shared Link (before you ask, yes that's me, I'm night_owl)

Page 500 :o ....I am soooo glad I got a diagnosis before we got to 500. :D

Rachel--24 Collaborator

Speaking of diagnoses...I wonder what "other" stuff I'll find out tomorrow at my test. I will be shocked if they say I dont have mercury toxicity....I'm just really expecting it to come up.

I'm still eating ice cream daily...at least 1 pint a day...I have 2 flavors to choose from now. :D

So far no problems but I was hoping I'd gain some weight...so far it hasnt happened but I havent lost any weight either.

My body has a hard time warming up when its cold so after a pint of ice cream I sometimes need to take a hot bath. Its my favorite thing at night...ice cream, hot bath, warm jammies and comfy bed. It all starts with the ice cream. :D

Night everyone....I'm still on my heinous schedule.

Welcome to the forum, @Karen Chakerian, We need more information, please.   What homeopathic remedies or medications are you taking now?  Do you still have the blood pressure and other symptoms?  What is included in your diet currently?  Dairy? Oats?  Processed gluten free foods?  Vegetarian?  Other food allergies?  Do you take vitamins?  When gluten is removed from the diet, the body stops making the anti-gluten antibodies that are usually measured in blood tests used to diagnose Celiac disease.  To measure the anti-gluten antibodies, you would have to consume 10 grams of gluten (4-6 slices of bread or equivalent) per day for a minimum of 2 weeks or longer.   A DNA test which looks for the most common genes for Celiac Disease may be a less invasive avenue to pursue.  Has your doctor checked you for nutritional deficiencies? Glad you're here!

@SaiP, Insomnia is listed as one of the side effects of Loratadine.   Niacin B3 in the form Tryptophan, Pyridoxine B 6, Folate B 9, Cobalamine B12, Magnesium, and Thiamine B 1 are needed to produce the sleep hormone melatonin.  Insomnia can also be caused by low Vitamin D and low Vitamin A.   A strict gluten free diet can be low in essential  vitamins.   Gluten containing products are required to replace vitamins lost in processing and milling.  Gluten free processed foods are not required to have vitamins added.  White rice is not a good source of B vitamins.  Brown rice is little better.  Exposure to light (even grocery store lights) and heat (during transportation) can destroy B vitamins.   B vitamins are easily lost in urine and diarrhea because they are water soluble.  If you have had diarrhea longer than two weeks, you are probably low in B vitamins.  Fat based vitamins, like Vitamins D and A, can be low due to fat malabsorption in Celiac disease, too.   Damaged villa in Celiac Disease do not absorb B vitamins and fat based vitamins and minerals well.  Supplementing with essential nutrients while villi heal boosts the ability to absorb essential vitamins and minerals.  Vitamins are stored and utilized inside cells.  Blood levels are not accurate measurements of vitamin deficiencies.  You can have normal blood levels while having deficiencies inside cells.  The brain orders cells to release their stores so the brain and heart can keep functioning.  This results in normal blood levels, but vitamin deficits inside cells.   Your indulgence in a little bit of bread is providing some, but insufficient amounts, of vitamins needed to make sleep hormone melatonin while keeping your inflammation and histamine production high.   In addition to a B Complex, I took 1000 mg of tryptophan before bed to correct my insomnia caused by high histamine levels.  Correcting my Vitamin D level to between 75-100 nmol/ml helped as well.  Also Passion flower extract is helpful in falling asleep quickly.   Please stop eating gluten bread as this will keep your autoimmune response triggering and your antibody levels won't go down and your histamine levels will stay up as well.   Celiac is a marathon, not a sprint.  P.S. I wanted to reiterate that insomnia and weight loss are symptoms of Thiamine deficiency.  Benfotiamine is a form of thiamine that promotes intestinal healing.  Thiamine is water soluble and nontoxic even in high doses.  High doses are needed to correct thiamine deficiency. All mitochondria in cells utilize thiamine.  The World Health Organization says to take 500 - 1000 mg per day of thiamine and look for health improvement.  Diets that are high in carbohydrates like rice and gluten require more thiamine.  For every 1000 calories from carbohydrates, we need 500 mg more thiamine.  Thiamine is found in meat.  Few veggies contain thiamine. Can you rise from a squat without assistance?  This is the field test for thiamine deficiency used by WHO.  If you cannot rise easily from a squat you may be thiamine deficient.

Earlier, you mentioned the possibility of adding in sweet potatoes. Have you tried that? Have you tried sourdough bread? Some people with celiac disease claim they can eat sourdough without a gluten reaction. The fermentation process alters the protein somewhat.
    • trents
Welcome to the forum, @Karen Chakerian! So, for the sake of clarity, you have self-diagnosed yourself as having celiac disease but are not officially diagnosed by medical testing. Is this correct?
    • Karen Chakerian
I’m 70 years old and have RA for 25 years. I’d never had digestive issues or even heard of celiac until 2 months ago.  6 years ago I started having serious diarrhea, dropped what little weight I had,  became very exhausted, developed rapid onset blood pressure and other symptoms. I went to the doctor for an unrelated matter and even with my records he told me they have ‘pills’ for all those things; which I turned down and sought to deal with this with homeopathic remedies.  Mid October 2024 my guts hurt terribly and started to swell. My massage therapist asked about celiac and I started to do research on it. It absolutely fits all the symptoms so I’ve been gluten free since 2 days before Thanksgiving but the huge gut persists. Thankfully the pain and cramps are gone. I look like a 90# pregnant skeleton.  I’m exhausted and looking for some encouragement from the tribe. I have good days and bad. I know living with an autoimmune disease sucks but this is even worse than the RA.
