Hi Laura! Don't worry about it...just a quick hello is great! Take care of yourself first and post when you can, but don't wear yourself out! Although, we WILL worry about you if we don't hear a quick hello from time to time, lol.

I've heard that Kirkman labs is good at handling allergies & vitamins. They make a calcium powder. Might be worth checking out. www.kirkmanlabs.com

Oh V!!! I just love all your links! Thanks!!!! :D

OK. I just ran into my first PROBLEM. :(

Citric acid/citrate is in calcium and multi's. I have the health food store trying to track down whether they can find anything gluten, soy and citrus free in children's vitamins. Doesn't look promising at all. I really don't want to have my daughter go back to dairy.......she didn't test intolerant to it though (didn't have the IgE tested).

Mindboggling to me! Hum, did we discuss compounding pharmacies being able to do vitamins? Wonder if there is such a thing. I saw a link on one of the links V posted that had a list of compounding pharmacies. If my brain will work long enough I'll see if I can find it. Don't know if pharmacies bother with vitamins, but doesn't hurt to ask.

I have missed you all.

This will just be a short post though I have lots and lots to say, briefly though, yes I have Lyme Disease and having been bouncing round happy, happy, happy, LOL because I am going to get well and yes like Rachel says once a Lymie always a Lymie but we don't have to be devoured by it. I am also feeling very smug and because I figured it out. Take that you Lyme bugs, :P .

Love and Blessings, Rinnie

YAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!! I'm so happy you've found out what it is! Was so excited when I saw you had posted on this thread and now even more so!

Just popping in to say HELLO!

Patti- You kitty is so sweet and Andrea, yours was a beauty too. I should put one of mine up. I have two tabbys- thae male, Simon, is 20 pounds but he's the BIGGEST baby ever! All he wants to do is sit on my lap.

I am saying NO to flu shots too. Never really thought they were a great idea anyway.

Carla- Hope you're feeling better.

Dave and Rachel- Yeah! The Dave is good. The dave and The Rachel- winning combo!

Rinne- I'll do the "take that you Lymies" dance for you! That's great!

I've had a rough week. It's like I went from chronic D living in the evil vortex to chronic C and it's killing me. Yesterday was 10 days! I finally "did something" about it. When I get that constipated, my joints kill and I just feel like my body is full of toxic waste. I don't get it!

Have also been super irritable lately (not with you guys  ) but the littlest things set me off. Teaching full-time is knocking the wind out of my sails. I love the students but hate the commute and the ridiculous amount of correcting. Also having a hard time sleeping :(:(

Anyway, hoping to get some rest this weekend. It's our 2 year anniversary so a friend lent us her house in VT (uhmm... wish I had spare houses to lend :P ) so we are going up there for a little R &R. Hopefully that will help!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!!! The time in VT sounds wonderful. I went on a week long hiking trip in VT a few years ago and LOVED LOVED LOVED it. Wouldn't mind living there, lol. Seems like a great place to kick back and relax.

Wow, sorry you've had such a bad week and WOW on the 10 days...I can't even imagine what that is like. Fortunately mine only lasts 2 days usually (it did once go 5).

You and me both on the not sleeping thise week. I am so exhausted but can't sleep...what's up with that for both of us!?

Hi rinne :) Congratulations on your diagnosis! I am very happy for you, know it will be challenging ahead as you try to heal but what a wonderful feeling you know what you are healing from, and there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Hi Laura, look forward ot your post this weekend.

Andrea, great advice on looking into some of these other companies that deal with multiple allergen ingredients above and beyond what some of the others address. Maybe there is a solution.

Bev, Happy Anniversary to you and your husband!!!!!!!!!! Im sorry you have not been feeling well lately. I hope the trip to VT will give you some much needed R & R. Have a great time :)

Donna, you get the first quadrant out next week? Wow, that was fast. Are you on any supplements heading into the procedure? Best of luck with it all :)

Donna,

If you look on page 1 or 2 of the thread there is a link to compounding pharmacies. There are a few in our area...I used the one on Forest....directly behind Valley Fair. I was getting my thyroid meds compounded since back in April when I thought maybe corn was causing all this. Just last week I went back to my old meds....obviously corn isnt the real problem for me and the compounded meds were more expensive so I was happy to switch back. :)

Rinne....that is the BEST news ever!!!! I'm so excited for you.....looks like we'll both be going through this together....taking down the Lymies. :)

I cant wait to hear more details about your trip! I read your pm and could obviously relate to how excited you sound! How funny.....me and you dancing around because we have Lyme Disease.

But yeah.....we can get better now....after all this time its great to know there is a light at the end of the tunnel. No more guesswork! Dont know about you but the guesswork was driving me insane!

Glad you were able to post....I'd been thinking about you all week. :)

Bev....Happy Anniversary to you and huuby!! :D

I guess The Dave has won all of you over...he seems to be good at this. :P

YAY!

The heinosity is over. :D

The show and tell went smoothly yesterday. Somehow everything came together at the last minute. :) I'm glad its over though. I was totally exhausted yesterday!

AndreaB Contributor

So much going on this morning.

Rinne,

Yae for a diagnosis! We'll look for more posting when you have time. Know you've got you get together this weekend too.

Donna,

My doctor mentions taking vitamin c before shots.....wonder if that would go for the amalgam removal etc. Also helps with C.

Simply V,

I'll look into kirkman labs. Thank you. I did find a multi allergy vitamin from twinlabs....but it's for adults.

Julie,

Want our enjoy life chocolate chips? Mitch is moderately intolerant to coffee beans and the caffeine must be a problem. He hasn't had coffee forever. We used to have mocha's about 10 years ago but don't remember if he ever had any espresso added to his or not. Talitha had an upset stomach last night. Don't know if it was the citrus from her bread in the morning, the chocolate chips or the garlic that was in the broth I used. Garlic doesn't seem like it will be able to be totally avoided, but we'll see.

Bev,

Sorry you have such a rough week. :(

Congratulations on your anniversary!!!! Have a nice weekend in VT. We'll look for a nice, refreshed Bev on Monday.

Rachel,

Morning! You were posting when I was. Why do I think I'll finish before you? I really must get going......still have my shower to take. Didn't get up til 9 this morning. :o I get up with Seth. Since I don't go to bed until between 12-1 it helps that he's been sleeping so late. Poor, tired baby.

Laura,

Ditto Donna. As long as we get drive-by's we know you are ok.

Patti,

Hi!

Everyone else who hasn't posted yet today.........HI!

I guess The Dave has won all of you over...he seems to be good at this. :P

Yep. :D

I was wrong, you finished posting first.

Glad your ordeal is over at work this week. Hopefully your system won't be so much more overloaded that you start reacting to all your food again.

heh heh.....she said heinosity....heh heh.....(yes, taking full credit for that word, one of many I have made up and use frequently ;) ) and I love it when you guys use it..... Anywho so glad that stupid show and tell is over! :)

SUCH JOY!!!! Rinnie - - - strange that we are so happy that you also have Lyme but.....a diagnosis and now you can begin the conquering!!! This is such good news....and you (and Rachel, and whoever else here may have it also) can go through this together........

Bev - OMG 10 days - you beat my record, and I KNOW that pain you are in. In Italy - - I went nine days without pooping. It is a terrible ache.....I have found something that helps. Make a cup of herb tea and put about two tablespoons of flax seeds in it. Drink the tea and eat the seeds in the end......I hope you can tolerate them, can't remember what your sensitivities are. but...they are slimy and seemed to help things go thorugh for me.....

Good morning to everybody else. :)

Yep, they're quick, first quadrant next week. Sounds like they want to do them all in a short period of time. He say I will not feel bad because he will get as much of the vapor out as he can while he works on it cuz he doesn't want to breathe it either, lol.. I think I read on his website that the air is filtered to the outside (of the building), don't remember for sure now though. I'm thinking this one now, second one in January, lol. We'll see. He didn't say anything about supplements except to take selenium if I eat seafood and to eat more eggs, onion, garlic, etc. Don't like any of those, so not sure how well I'll do, lol.

Cool, I seemed to remember the discussion, lol. Brain fog. Stupid brain fog. I don't think I have a problem with corn so probably don't need it much, still might though.

OMG Rachel, you must be thinking what is Julie talking about

I went to track down some links with info on Bioset for Donna, and any others interested, and I realized that maybe you were confused by my posts. Frankly I am confused

I was going to have Bioset done by my acupuncturist, only no electronic mechanism used, just kinisiology or muscle testing and then the treatment, very much like NAET. This is why I was confused when you said you did bioset and the electronic testing as one in the same.

As I was reading along at the Bioset website it sounds like Bioset uses the electronic testing, computer software, etc., which this is very much like the Bioscan that I did do for several years.

I wonder what the difference is between Bioset and Bioscan??

Anyway, here is some info everyone:

Rinne--congratulations on finding ANSWERS!

Do you think we can convince Scott to let tailZ back on the board (if she'd want to come)?

I've also had a relevation today, really building over the last couple weeks...but something significant clicked with me today. I just remembered I was forced to get another measles vaccination (immunization ?) before I entered college. A few months after that was the begining of the end for me, or what has been this long neverending journey (nightmare) of poor health. Heinous things happened (thank you Susie for that word :D ) Now I am putting everything together, undiagnosed celiac disease, mercury toxicity, an unnecessary vaccination, low immunity, possible lyme (it always showed up on the bioscan with me  but nobody addressed it)........

I have decided I am going to get tested for lyme. I need to talk to you guys that know how to go about doing that. I have been reading each and every post along the way but all the info didn't stick in my brain

AndreaB Contributor

Julie,

I've been wondering about the lyme with you too.

That measles shot could have been the springboard. If lyme loves mercury than that would have been something.

I think Rachel mentioned her doctor treating people from all over......did you Rachel or did someone else post about a different doctor that treated people from all over.

Does lyme love sugar too or is that just the candida that loves sugar.

You guys have all taught me so much.

Did the bioset website list any doctors that do the testing?

Yes, and very clever to get in good with your friends, even cyber friends, lol!

Donna,

I'll ask, lol. I'll ask the HN doctor I see today about what she thinks and I'll ask the amalgam dentist too.

Thanks for the nformative update, Laura! I was wondering--any way you could contact the nurse and ask what she thought of the head doc?

How smart did it make him look? You really want to know????

jerseyangel Proficient

Hi Laura,

Well for heaven's sake! I know what you mean now about your appt. being good and bad! It does seem disappointing that a renoun doctor would bring up IBS. That is not a great sign. I find it very interesting that the younger doctor and the nurse were more open to other possibilities. I guess what we hear is true--that doctors just don't learn about Celaic much in med school. They're told it's rare, so they don't look for it, much less go further and consider any complications.

I know you had your hopes way up, but there was some progress made and you still have your other appts coming up. I really believe that something is gonna strike a chord with one of them.

Good for you standing up to the doctor!! We need to do more of this.

That's so wonderful about your job and the people there. They sound great.

Get a lot of rest this weekend, and enjoy the visit with your husband. I'm sure you're relieved that this week is finally behind you :D

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr......doctors make me so mad! What a....boob. Glad you have got some other appointments lined up, Laura...and your job situation is a dream. Hang in there, get lots of rest and have a good weekend.

I am a cranky dingo girl because I had to try on about 20 pairs of jeans to get one that fit. Either the clothes are getting smaller, or I am getting bigger and the whole ordeal gave me a headache that could probably kill a.....small farm animal, I suppose. Would like to lose 5 to 10 of the 15 pounds I have gained. Harumph.

must hydrate and find refreshment for self. Except that the back of the Jeep is loaded with sod that I must lay over the parts of the grass - I mean dirt that USED to be grass - that those dingos have peed to death.

AndreaB Contributor

Laura,

Thanks for the update on your appointment. I can't believe the head doctor! :o:angry:

I do hope your next appointment makes some headway and/or your appointment at JH. Good think your mom was with you. Sounds like that whole section with the head doc would have left you with no energy just by itself.

Get some rest this weekend and we'll talk to you later.

Susan,

Take is easy on yourself....get some rest.....do something fun.

HUGS

I understand your frustration about socializing while having celiac disease. I also have allergies to nuts, dairy, all forms of gluten including oats, strawberries and MSG. I get anxiety while grocery shopping and really take my time to read all labels. I always carry a magnifying glass with me wherever I go to read labels. Many products are labelled Gluten Free but contain Oats, and apparently this is becoming more common. I almost bought some gluten free flour but read that it contained oats. A certain percentage of Celiacs have this complication. I can’t help feeling offended and excluded when others act like I am being “high maintenance”. I am becoming better at being an advocate for myself.  I have had diverticulitis 3 times and each time hospitalized-once, the attending nurse didn’t know what celiac means-she had to research...  If others around me make comments I try to enlighten them, those who don’t get it are not my friends anymore. Be very careful about cross-contamination. I was sick recently for 10 days after a meal was contaminated while I was on holiday. If servers say they have gluten free buns or bread, ask if they use a toaster specifically reserved for gluten-free, or don’t chance it. On a positive note, I didn’t find out I had Celiac Disease until I was 60. Eating a gluten free diet means no more terrible headaches, hives, rashes, intestinal bloating and irregularity, Gastro Intestinal Reflux….when I follow a strict diet and mostly always eat at home, I feel great! I also weeded out “friends” who weren’t worth being around.

Thank you, Trents- are there any safe alternatives?
    • Scott Adams
I agree with @trents, it's not typical for gluten exposure to cause symptoms as delayed as a week or two after ingestion. In most cases, reactions to gluten occur within hours to a few days, depending on individual sensitivity and how much gluten was consumed. The delayed symptoms you describe—stomach cramping in the mornings and flaky stool—might suggest that something else is contributing to your discomfort. Cross-contamination is a common challenge, especially when dining out, and it's great that you're doing your best to stay gluten-free. However, the inconsistency of your symptoms and the long delay between exposure and reaction could warrant further investigation. It's possible that another gastrointestinal condition, such as IBS, a food intolerance, or a reaction to something else in your diet, might be contributing to your symptoms. You might consider keeping a detailed food and symptom diary to identify potential patterns or triggers. Additionally, consulting your gastroenterologist could provide clarity. They may suggest testing to rule out other issues, such as small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO), microscopic colitis, or other sensitivities. If you suspect cross-contamination is a significant issue, you could also ask for follow-up bloodwork (e.g., tTG-IgA) to check if your antibodies are elevated, which might indicate ongoing gluten exposure.
