Good morning all!!

Did I read correctly, break downs, melt downs, brain fog, a weekend of doubled over stomach pain?? I am very far behind, looks like I will have to go back to catch up :o Sorry so many of you guys didn't have such a great weekend. I hope all is better and brighter for this week :D .

Just wanted to say a quick hello and thanks (from the bottom of my heart ) for all the well wishes with my angioedema outbreak. It was on my "mouse" hand, so couldn't type or maneuver the computer very well  so I gave up . Took lots of claritin, which I hate, but it's either that or go to the ER for epi and steroids, which I refuse to give in to. I had a bit of a breakdown myself, just reflecting on a lot, wishing I had better health :( But today is a new day, trying to stay positive, onward and upward, and all that. Keep fighting.....

A word on the adrenals, I think it was Susie that asked.....there are several resources for exhausted adrenals. The book I used as a reference, The Schwarzbein Principle II, she is an endocrinologist I believe, and struggled with poor health herself. She existed on sugary snacks for years, every candy ever made, every sugary individually wrapped treat. Her advice for getting off the sugar is to start with fruit. Every time you want something sweet go for the fruit to ween yourself off the sugar. At first you might be eating a lot of fruit but it is essential you break the sugar habit, then with time you can eat less fruit as your body gets more regulated.

****Special thoughts going out to Donna as she prepares for the first quadrant of amalgam removal this week. Shes already had so much dental work, and jaw issues/pain, this can't be easy for her. You are in my thoughts Donna, that all will go quickly and smoothly :):)

ok susan we do have alot in common yesturda I was feeling like sh... and I went to moms and we watched the food network- some weird inane cartoon cake competition - it was so ridiculous that I was able to zone out and forget how I felt.

OMG Donna we were watchign that show too! It was crazy...and then other shows on Food Channel, I think one was called Unwrapped - - all the candy, it was making me crazy and my mom said, Should you be watching this? to which I replied...I know, it's like porn or something..... Donna - - you're in my prayers for your week ahead - - and hope you feel cleansed from the crying meltown - they always help for me. :)

Patti - yes, the football Gods are on my side :lol::lol:

Julie - so nice to see you and your mouse hand must be better as your post was somewhat lengthy!

Thanks Carla! I do light weight training too...one body part per day for 6 days a week. I'm going to look for "Tired of Being Tired" too. The adrenal fatigue: the 21st century....is the one I'm reading now. I go back today to finish my "interview" with the internist...and am bringing all my past labs so she can see that, then I think she'll order some more tests. The book I'm reading had some home tests to do, one of which is a blood pressure test...the internist did that test Friday in her office and my blood pressure dropped at least 10 points when I stood up. I did the eye test at home...where you shine a light across the eye in a darkened room...I could watch my iris struggling to stay closed and then eventually dilating again, which is supposed to be another sign of adrenal fatigue.

Hi Donna.

Know you've ck'd on me and sent nice notes. they have not gone un noticed..just haven't been posting but reading alot of your and Carlas posts with such interest and printer so many that now need a new printer cartrige..

anyway. read reviews of A F in 21st century..and they were all good. tried to find to ck out of library but they didn't have it in the entire system. I'll look into 'tired of being tired'

It sounds good too.

carla have your read both of them?

Thanks for all the info even tho you didn't know how much you were helping me.

Thanks for the tips on adrenals...I'm soaking it all up. Thanks for the special thoughts! It really makes a difference!!! You are amazing to me (I mean that in an awestuck, wish I could be strong too way, lol). So glad the worst of it passed and you didn't have to go to the emergency room.

It's exactly like food porn, lol.:lol: I hate to cook...if it doesn't fit in my little frying pan it doesn't get made, lol. BUT, I LOVE watching the food network and I buy all kinds of cookbooks, what's up with that, lol. Food porn.

Thank you Judy!!! You are always so kind and sweet even in the midst of all of your problems! I bought mine new at Barnes & Noble by my house, can't remember how much, but somewhere around $15 I think.

I'm feeling a love fest coming on again. I just love each one of you!

Julie,

Glad you are doing better today. HUGS for you. Did you have a chance to look into bioset stuff. Is it the same as what you had done before, or similar. The whole thing fascinates me. I haven't looked into it much though.

Donna,

Hope all goes well with your appointment today. I'll be waiting for an update if you feel up to it afterwards. Work.....bummer, anyway that can be made better?

Miamia,

Did you have an appointment this week to? I know you had the stool sample, anything else?

Carla, Susan, Jessica and Patti........Good morning/afternoon.

Rachel,

Have you called to make your appointment yet?

I'm feeling a love fest coming on again. I just love each one of you!

Back to you.

Lots of  for all of you.

Must start school sometime today. Seth had a rough spot between 4:30 and 6:30 so we didn't get up until after 9. Gave him some salmon last night.....maybe I shouldn't have. Could be totally unrelated though. He's also teething according to the doctor but nothing has broken through yet. The doctor also said his red eyes were a sign of some intolerance. I've gone off chocolate and it has seemed to make a difference, but it's too soon to tell.

Susan, thanks for asking about the party, it was the party that killed future birthday parties.:angry::ph34r:

I'll have parties again but they will be smaller and only the people I invite. I was told it was a great party and people enjoyed themselves and I did somewhat but there were a few people who seemed to think that I would be happy to take care of them, one in particular, someone I barely know who came with another friend, was drunk and everytime I turned around he was gleeping onto me. At one point he slurred, "this is a great party, I should have come last year" and I thought and you weren't invited last year and there is no way there will be a party next year. :(

I know it is just part of the changing I am going through but even with my sweetie at one point I asked him to help me feed someone, who assumed that because I was on a special diet I would be able to meet their special diet, and he was like, "don't boss me around". It just blew me away that people who know I have been ill, that I was away for testing, and had returned Friday night just assume it is business as usual. I know that I am competely responsible for this situation and I am clear that I will be making different choices, choices that include ending relationships in which I don't actually exist. In conclusion, during the party I felt like I really needed support and there was none.

Thinking of you all, Julie I'm glad your hand is better and you can post, Donna I hope this work will help to turn around your health, and it is time to nap.

Thanks! My appointment is at 3:00 (actually I have two, one at 3:00 and another at 3:30 with the physical therapist) and they're taking some Xrays besides that, lol. If it's anything like the appointment on Friday, which lasted 1.5 hours, lol, that means I won't get out of there before 4:30. It's all good though...wouldn't have it any other way right now. They are being thorough and I like that, lol.

Regarding work, I just can't see it getting any better. The attorneys/secretaries are really unhappy with the way things are--they can't get their work done and I really don't blame them for being upset. Currently they are supposed to be sending stuff to one of our other offices and I do whatever can't be sent out, only apparently the other office can't do all the work in a timely way. Friday the manager told me that since it's not working they will be sending EVERYTHING to me and I have to figure out how to get it done. If a WHOLE department can't do the work how can I? So, basically, I'll be doing what 4 people here used to do all by myself. I've pretty much decided my only choice is to look for another job which is less stressful, I just hate the thought though and the timing sucks, lol, but I just might have to do it. I've been here for 15 years! There is no way I can do all the work for very long and be healthy and right now I think I have to put me first.

Thanks for the link Tarnalberry, that helps alot.

Ursula, I hope its not ALL grains but I dont seem to have any problems with rice or potatoes (is potato a lectin?)

Cornbread, Why is your name Cornbread if you can't have corn? :P

Yeah....I cant believe how much stuff corn is in. They say you usually get an intolerance to the food you eat most. I would have never thought I eat corn the MOST but looking at the ingredients in everything...I ate corn all day...everyday of my life. Plus I always had a bag of Tostitos or some type of cornchip available. No wonder gluten-free diet wasnt working for me. I couldnt even eat a marshmallow without reacting!

I cant believe its taken me this long to notice this. I've pretty much reacted to all the gluten-free stuff like the cereals, all Glutino products, all the breads, all the snack bars and cookies...etc. I've stared at the ingredients to these things over and over and nothing stood out to me. Now I'm feeling dumb because everything says corn starch or corn syrup...every single one of the products has corn in it.

please note that in my dream, I looked up, to check the safety of the ropes - wondered who set up the rope system - it was kind of psychadelic and I thought to myself, gosh, I know *I* am not afraid of this, but did the other "models" know they'd be swinging over a crevasse (and the dream looked like the whole jungle set of the newest King Kong movie)?:lol::lol: The best part - a guy thought I was 30 in my dream - I said, no, 44 - he fell more deeply in love with me ;)

Well I MUST smoke sod daily since my dreams are ALWAYS like this.....:wacko::wacko: Just the other night, I was in a wedding dress, big celebration, adn getting blasted with a fire truck hose....not good....

You and Richard but much lightheartedness into our lives.

Yes, Rinne, I agree with Donna.

Poor you, to have to deal with all that. Especially after your exhausting week.

Is there any way that you can just sit back and do the work you normally do and not stress about the rest. Tell the attorney's that you are only one person and they need to continue sending the work out. Who made the choice to downsize? Can they bring someone back? I'd hate to have you have to look for another job, especially with your long service to this one. You DO need to do what is best for you and your health though. If it can't work doing what you can, then yes, you need to move on.

DingoGirl Enthusiast

Yeah.....try reasoning with attorneys about your workload......megalomaniacs....Donna, unfortunately most law firms I THINK are like this, unless you get a really good and kind boss. They do exist, I've heard..... ;) That job sounds really stressful.

Dang, I have a job interview today. Am reluctant to confess it. I am way overqualified and yet wildly UNDERqualified due to deterioation of my brain. I don't know where to go for help for my brain.....I think if dr.'s were to take a scan of it, you know where they show all those colored areas of activitiy and non-activity and such, my feeble brain would be all gray.....and I would be featured in books of great scientificness as a great marvel of functioning and non-functioning, all at once.:blink::blink:

Rinne....your party sounds traumatic and I am glad you have ruled against future parties....they are tedious.

Maybe you should have had a bouncer? :)

must prepare for heinosity. ugh.

AndreaB Contributor

Susan,

Let us know how it goes. You can do it! :D

dlp252 Apprentice

Yep, see, it's that job interview thing I HATE, lol. Good luck on yours!

I really do work for a nice bunch of attorneys...that's another thing I'm afraid to leave, lol...the grass isn't always greener on the other side. Andrea, I plan to just do what I can, but the nature of a law firm is kind of chaotic at times...can sit here for hours with nothing to do and all of a sudden there will be 20 all due now. :) In the past it wasn't such a big deal because there were 4 of us, but now it'll just be me. Right now we have some limits or guidelines on what they can give me, but the email on Friday basically said there will be no limits. I've been there before and it's not pretty, lol.

I just bought AF in the 21st Century today. It looks good. I found it at Barnes and Noble ... I guess if you had the time, you could sit in the store and read it if you didn't want to buy it!! :o I like to have those books to reference later, so I always buy them.

I'm gonna give away my Triumph cards. Of course when I ordered them I thought I was gonna get all better just from going gluten-free. How funny is that!!:lol:

I never used them once and cant see that I'll be using them anytime soon. By the time I could actually use them who knows where we'll be....maybe I'll have given birth to the alien baby and we'll have flown back to our planet where there is no gluten anyway.

Sooooo...these lovely cards come in a set of 6...all different languages (yes, English is one of them) and the whole SET could be YOURS....as long as you dont have a million *other* intolerances....like myself. :D

Dunno if anyone here in Rachelville qualifies but figured I'd ask my peeps first. :) If there are no takers I shall venture out of Rachelville and I KNOW someone will snatch em up out there...all those lucky people who only need be gluten-free...sheeeesh...they dont know how good they have it! :P

I would post a "sample" card but it would violate the copyrights. Yes, I did this once....the Triumph guy was not happy...dont think Scott was either.

Have learned my lesson.

WHO WANTS THE TRIUMPH CARDS????

Thank you, Trents- are there any safe alternatives?
    • Scott Adams
I agree with @trents, it's not typical for gluten exposure to cause symptoms as delayed as a week or two after ingestion. In most cases, reactions to gluten occur within hours to a few days, depending on individual sensitivity and how much gluten was consumed. The delayed symptoms you describe—stomach cramping in the mornings and flaky stool—might suggest that something else is contributing to your discomfort. Cross-contamination is a common challenge, especially when dining out, and it's great that you're doing your best to stay gluten-free. However, the inconsistency of your symptoms and the long delay between exposure and reaction could warrant further investigation. It's possible that another gastrointestinal condition, such as IBS, a food intolerance, or a reaction to something else in your diet, might be contributing to your symptoms. You might consider keeping a detailed food and symptom diary to identify potential patterns or triggers. Additionally, consulting your gastroenterologist could provide clarity. They may suggest testing to rule out other issues, such as small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO), microscopic colitis, or other sensitivities. If you suspect cross-contamination is a significant issue, you could also ask for follow-up bloodwork (e.g., tTG-IgA) to check if your antibodies are elevated, which might indicate ongoing gluten exposure.

Good to know, here is their website: https://polly-o.com/

No cure so far, and a treatment might still be years away. Many people with celiac disease, especially those who are in the 0-2 year range of their recovery, have additional food intolerance issues which could be temporary. To figure this out you may need to keep a food diary and do an elimination diet over a few months. Some common food intolerance issues are dairy/casein, eggs, corn, oats, and soy. The good news is that after your gut heals (for most people who are 100% gluten-free this will take several months to two years) you may be able to slowly add some these items back into your diet after the damaged villi heal. This article may be helpful:
    • Scott Adams
I'm not sure the article would be misleading, as it offers many different avenues to pursue for those with ongoing symptoms. The recommendation to keep a food diary and remove common food intolerance triggers would be a good way to discover issues with casein/milk, especially if you added that back to your diet after a couple of months and your symptoms returned. Many additional food intolerance issues can be permanent in some people.
