:lol::lol:

Donna,

Thats funny! I wonder if she really even knew me though. I never saw the nutritionist.

I only saw Dr. Rick, his wife (only twice) and Dr. Carrie. Other then those 3 I only know the 2 ladies at the front desk. I dont have any idea who the nutritionist lady is...

It sounds like your taking some of the same tests I took...it'll be interesting to see how they come back.

It was Dr. Vikki (Dr. Rick's wife)...she did my nutrition evaluation. I thought these sounded like some of the tests you mentioned way back at the beginning of all this, lol. I have to call them on the spit test though. The test has some VERY specific hours that you are supposed to spit in, lol. The 10:00p.m.-12:00a.m. one just won't work for me, lol...I'm usually WAY asleep by then.

Donna-

with you on the emotional roller coaster. I just sent in a stool test today for yeast parasites and other buggers. Which one are you doing? I have done a spit test for adrenals - it was an all day thing very annoying is that what you have to do?

Yes, I think that's the stool test they are doing...it's the one with the six vials that you have to shake and stir, lol. And, yes, the spit test is for the adrenals...all day...spit between 6-8 am, spit between 12-2, spit between 5-6 or 7 (I think) and spit between 10:00-12:00... I have to call them though because my day starts WAY earlier than most of America's does...I get up at 4:00 a.m. and go to bed at 8:00 p.m., so I have to find out if that matters...they want me to do the test on a workday, but I can't do the 10-midnight thing on a worknight or I'll never make it to work the next day...guess I'll have to do it Friday, lol.

Donna---thinking about you. xoxo

You too! Wow, I'm encouraged by your appointment though. What is it with us attracting the nurse cratchetts of the medical world?

Donna, glad your appt went well today. Tomorrow is the big day isn't it? You will definitely be in my thoughts :)

Thanks, yep, it's here, YIKES, lol. Anyway, I was just thinking yesterday that I am missing your posts...are you feeling any better?

WELL WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO???

I've had it said to me too!!! So frustrating!

We are moving on Friday so I won't have access to my compter for a few days, but when I get settled, I will definitely check back into this great thread! Best of luck to everyone!

Good luck with the move and hurry back! There is always good scientificness here!

I had the weirdest dreams; my brain was flashing image very quickly and I couldn't do anything about it. Sugar sometimes gives me an evil temper, like last night. When will I ever learn  ?

Yep, this happens to me too when I eat sugar, and the sad part is when I eat sugar I CRAVE more and more. Right now I'm the evil sugar monster, lol.:ph34r:

I think that fear or panic is the body's way of attempting to communicate its' distress to us but because our attention is generally directed outward we attach that feeling of fear to events in our lives rather than looking inward. When we ignore the fear or medicate ourselves the next message we receive from our bodies is pain, exhaustion or neurological symptoms because the dis-ease has moved from the metabollic level to the immunological level. I knew something was going on with me three years ago but it has taken this long for the symptoms to manifest sufficiently that they can be identified.

YES, EXACTLY, lol!!

I didn't know that the CT Scan was the equivalent of 100 chest x-rays. I cannot emphasize how strongly I feel that in having many of these tests we are putting ourselves in harm's way.

:o I have had 3 CT scans of my sinuses....didn't have to drink anything though...hope I didn't ZAP what was left of my brain.

wow.....holy heck...so much here! I just got back from a lovely dinner with my niece, carefully prepared as to my strict instructions to the kitchen manager - we will know tomorrow how careful they were! - and it must have taken 10 minutes to read three pages.

[and the rest of this post edited due to excessive rambling  ]

Darn, I missed it! Always love to read your rambling Susie Q :D

Donna, I think it's completely understandable that you are stressing over your mercury removal. Dental work is traumatic, imo. Just take deep breaths, focus on one quadrant at a time, and it will be over before you know it. Hang in there :)

edit* I am no longer chunky and chocolaty, I am back to my normal self again  at Andrea and Susie's request.

That was my big adventure. I should hear back about my blood work this week and they are calling me to schedule my procedure tomorrow. I'll keep you updated.....Thanks for all the warm wishes....Judy, Patti, Dave, Rachel, Donna, Bev, Carla, Andrea, Julie, Susan, etc. I have only briefly read about your appt, Donna, and everyone elses stuff...I will read tomorrow (just too brain dead, but wanted to post).

Love,

Laura

You are NOT ababy!!!! What you went through would have been intimidating and frightening to ANYONE!!!

I hope you are feeling better now, I hope they find some real ansers, and I hope you get to add whatever foods you like back into your diet!

Rambling is ok....I'm with Julie on that one...love to read the ramblings. ;)

Oh...ok...didnt know that Dr. Vikki was the "nutritionist". :) I only saw her because Dr. Rick had gone out of town so she filled in. We talked about MSG... back when I was full of scientificness about MSG.

Yeah...I had a hard time with the spit test too...I did the first one at work....the hardest was the late night one since I go to bed early. I think I cheated a little on that one.

Good luck with the removal today!! :)

Patti and Claire....thanks for the info. about fibroids. :)

I'm just gonna leave it alone. As Claire said...I got bigger fish to fry. ;)

I think some of this stuff is just happening because my body is in disarray....maybe when things are healing some of this other stuff will go away. At least I'm not feeling pain from the fibroid....wouldnt even know it was there had they not seen it and told me.

AndreaB Contributor
I'm a little nervous about the removal for some reason, lol, not sure why exactly, maybe the needles sticking me with mind numbing drugs or maybe the drilling... not sure :lol::lol:

Actually, no I don't have ANYTHING I need for the diet, lol. My freezer is full of BEEF, nothing but beef. I have a few veggies, and a little fruit, but not much else. I'm trying to decide if I just want to start the diet on Saturday after I've gone grocery shopping, or try to fit grocery shopping in after one of my appointments this week. Haven't decided for sure, but I'm feeling like I SHOULDN'T put this off...I have a strong feeling I need to start as soon as possible. Weird, lol.

It's never fun going to the dentist IMO. It will be a good thing though, so keep positive thoughts.

Why can't you eat beef? Did I miss that?

Julie, LOVE your new pic. Thank you.

Susan, Your ramblings (as you call them) are you and we love reading whatever you want to contribute.

Rachel, Hoping you'll have time to post this afternoon/evening.

Morning/afternoon everyone!

Happy Birthday Rinne!!!!!

Julie, beautiful pic! So, are all the pictures that you've posted from the same day or does your hair always look like that? I remember you saying you had it done and it took a lot of time for some of your other pictures and it looks just as nice in this one!

I have my appt. later today....I was looking over my treatment plan. It looks like chelation is in my future....it mentions both DMPS and DMSA. I will pick DMSA.

It says that they will not go through with chelation until I've detoxed sufficiently. Last week my overall toxicity score was an 11....it needs to come down to 7 or below before I can do chelation. It says that people get sick from chelation therapy because they havent detoxed properly prior to starting chelation. My paper says that the Bioset lady will inform my Dr. of when I'm ready to begin chelation. I wonder if the lady will retest my overall toxicity level today....I'm betting its gone up rather than down. :(

This is what my paper says:

The first test performed is a toxicity exam. This exam measures the relative impedance of the fluid compartments of the body to determine the density of toxins in the body...it does not quantify the nature or amount of toxins deposited or lodged in tissue (as in heavy metal toxicity). However, this is a place to begin when considering any detoxification program. If heavy metals are akin to debris stored in a bedroom closet....you need to have the bedroom clean enough to access the closet before you can embark on cleaning it out.

The fluid compartments of the body are akin to having a clean bedroom where you can access the closet. Likewise, the body will not release toxins stored in tissues (such as heavy metals) when the fluid compartments of the body have circualting toxins. This is why some individuals will become ill after trying a heavy metal chelation program when they have never tried a generalized detoxification program before.

My toxicity score 11

The exam is scored on a scale of 1-15. A score of 7 is considered high in toxicity. Scores of 7 and above can start to afect the immune system, causing it to become weaker, confusing intracellular signals such that overall accumulation of toxins can begin to affect individual organ function. This is why we want to know this score, so that we can determine how much stress your body is under from toxic accumulation.

The next test was the organ test....it identifies the organs most burdened by toxins and its these organs that will be targeted in the initial stage of detoxification. It says some of my current symptoms are due to accumulation of toxins in these organs.

My results said that my most affected organs are Lymph and Stomach. I wonder what exactly the Lymph is??? It feels like stuff doesnt drain right from my head and neck area and then my joints and muscles get stiff and achey. The nightly massages I get always help with the drainage...its really weird. A couple years back my ex was massaging my shoulders and when he was pressing on one spot all of the pressure and fluid in my head just drained out. It was really cool because all of the pain just disappeared. We could never do it again...to that same degree. :(

Then I have other things affected like adrenals, endocrine system, circulatory system...etc.

I'm taking some "liver terrain" stuff right now....the beginning of my detoxification. :D

It says by taking the "terrain" I'll be able to help the organ excrete toxins and improve organ function. Like peeling the layers of an onion, you are getting to the layers of issues contributing to your body's imbalance. <------------so thats what I'm doing...peeling layers. :D

This is what it says about the "terrain" stuff:

Terrain remedies are the mildest, have drainage assisted detoxification, and are customized to that organ needing the most assistance to detoxify. Anyone can go to a health store and do a colon or liver "flush" and many have done so only to find that they have many *other* toxic organs. Others who have done such "flushes" found they got sick and could not continue using the product. This is because its very simple to "mobilize" toxins: the limiting factor is excretion, which is drainage, drainage, drainage and not all organs drain equally well. Therefore the terrain remedies couple targeted organ drainage to the mobilization of toxins.

The terrain remedies will not replace the need for further, deeper or specific detoxification, as in heavy metal chelation. However, it will make your body more efficient at detoxification when you do start these programs and side efects will be greatly reduced or eliminated.

Sooo...I guess that is the goal for me right now....to get my organs draining and to get my score under a 7. :D

I'm curious to see what the score is today....after my hellish week.

Why can't you eat beef? Did I miss that?

No, you didn't miss it, I didn't elaborate  ...they want me to go on a hypallergenic diet. So they want me to leave out stuff that is problematic for a lot of people like eggs, beef, pork, soy, etc.

Also have to leave out citrus, strawberries and dried fruit, margarine, peanuts.

No coffee, not even decaf, no soda

No corn, or or other grains...a little rice, millet, buckwheat would be okay...but just small amounts

Also can have a little potato, but very limited

Basically just meat, veggies, fat and a little fruit. This will only be for 10-days then I think I get to add stuff back in to see if it bothers me...this is exactly what I knew I needed to do months ago but just didn't do it.

I'm supposed to have a protein, fat and carb at every meal or snack. There's a ratio of protein to carb, but there are two different ratios in the handouts she gave me...one place says 4 parts carb/3 parts protein and the other place says 2 parts carb/3 part protein...haven't decided which one I'll do, lol.

WHAT, did I miss saying HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Rinne?

Happy Birthday Rinne!!!

Lmyph must the the lymph nodes ... that must have been what your ex was massaging. They go all through your body. I know the ones on my neck are almost always swollen.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY RINNE!!!!!!!

May the year ahead be a fabulous adventure, and many wishes for better health :)

Aren't we all  I don't know what it is, but I have been really bad lately with my diet, can't get on track to save my life......

Rachel, excellent scientificness  I will say again, I like how your doctor is proceeding with you.

Oh Carla, you are so sweet. My hair has a mind of its own and never looks the same twice, depends on what I do with it, used the curling iron a little more on the stubborn dry ends in this pic.

My ramblings.....well, I was just having a love surge for you guys, and feeling so hopeful about many things for you, saying that I don't quite fit in here  as I don't have all the intolerances (mine has been the stinkin' mental/psychological issues), but how much I always learn here and have been able to apply much of it to so many others' stories I seem to be hearing all the time now, in real life. And that YOU all were my heros, for your searching, striving, reading and reading all the time, educating the doctors, also how I had lost faith in most doctors but that a spot of brightness would come when someone disocovers a wondrous doctor who is willing to listen and learn.....just stuff like that. Oh...and that I would work on being less goofy here as I add PAGES Of filler of just goofy stuff and....well I could get busted since I"m in the leaky gut section here.:lol::lol::lol:

see you guys later! ;)

JUlie - nice to see you and your fabulous hair again! :)

Susan,

We like your contributions whether they be silly or serious. They are NOT filler. I don't have serious intolerances but I love this group and the support everyone offers and I love offering support to everyone here.

YOU ARE A PART. Don't put yourself down! And that's an order. :D

Susie, you are very valuable to this thread, never think otherwise. You may not have some of the intolerances but some of our scientificness has helped you figure out some of your mysterious/ troublesome symptoms inspiring you to look into things further like hormones and adrenals, and etc. You have gained and contributed along with the rest of us, so grab a seat and park it! just wanted to let yall know that I switched from LauraJ to happygirl for my username!

OMG Andrea....you wont even believe it!! Sometime today I just "snapped" out of it....just like that!

Seriously, I'm not reacting to stuff nearly as bad today...I ate my lunch...felt fine....was laughing and happy at work. Not a care in the world today.

Holy cow....it must have been all the chemicals, lack of sleep, the stress from last weeks Dr. appt. and the show and tell all hitting me at once. Today is the first day my head isnt totally throbbing...how crazy....I got myself all worked up and created even MORE stress for myself...and now I am fine...bubbly even.

Your approach is spot-on—trusting reliable sources like Mayo Clinic and sticking to a gluten-free diet that works for you is the best way to navigate all the noise out there. The claim that rice and corn contain forms of gluten harmful to celiacs is indeed a misconception. While these grains do contain proteins that may technically be referred to as "glutens" in a broader scientific sense, they are structurally and functionally different from the gliadin found in wheat, which is the specific protein harmful to those with celiac disease. Scientific research overwhelmingly supports the safety of non-contaminated rice and corn for celiacs unless there’s a separate sensitivity or allergy involved. Some opinion pieces or alternative health sources may blur the lines by conflating these proteins, which can cause unnecessary worry. You're absolutely correct to focus on the distinction between scientifically validated information and anecdotal claims. It's also important to note that some people with celiac disease may develop sensitivities to other grains over time, but this is individual and not a universal rule. If you’re asymptomatic and thriving on a diet that includes certified gluten-free products with rice and corn, there’s no reason to change what’s clearly working for you. The internet is a breeding ground for well-meaning but misguided advice, and it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. Your instinct to validate claims through reliable research is exactly the right way to go. Keep enjoying your gluten-free meals, stick with trusted certifications, and don’t feel pressured to adopt restrictive diets that aren’t backed by science or tailored to your specific needs. Happy New Year to you too!

Healing and regaining energy after a celiac diagnosis can be a frustratingly slow process, but you're not alone in feeling this way! Everyone's healing journey is different, and factors like age, how long celiac was undiagnosed, and the extent of intestinal damage can all play a role. In general, villi can begin to heal within a few weeks to months after starting a strict gluten-free diet, but for some adults—especially those diagnosed later in life—it can take a year or more to see significant improvement. Studies suggest that older adults may heal more slowly, but it does happen with consistent gluten avoidance. Since you're already taking iron, vitamin D3, and a multivitamin, you're on the right track. Here are a few additional tips that might help: Be Patient with Your Body: It’s hard to wait, but healing takes time. Track your progress in small ways—maybe energy levels on a scale of 1-10 each week—to notice gradual improvements. Check for Other Deficiencies: Sometimes celiacs have trouble absorbing other nutrients, like B12, magnesium, or zinc, which can also affect energy levels. Your doctor may want to test for these. Consider Other Conditions: Fatigue can be linked to other issues like thyroid problems, adrenal fatigue, or even sleep disturbances, which can sometimes occur alongside celiac disease. It might be worth discussing this with your healthcare provider. Stay Active, but Pace Yourself: Gentle exercise, like walking or yoga, can help improve energy levels, but don’t push yourself too hard—listen to your body. Hydration and Balanced Meals: Make sure you're drinking enough water and eating a balanced gluten-free diet with plenty of whole foods. Sometimes highly processed gluten-free products can leave you feeling sluggish. Remember, healing isn’t just physical—it’s also mental. You’ve made a huge, positive change by going gluten-free, and your body is working hard to repair itself. It’s okay to feel impatient, but know that you're moving in the right direction. Hang in there—you’ll get there!

Hi Scott, I thought I'd be like "most people" and could go back to having dairy once my villi had healed.  But after dealing with neurological problems that cropped up long after my gut had healed it turned out that this just wasn't true.  I have no idea if celiac influences pancreatic enzyme production or if it's the other way around--for some of us-- but there is a very real relationship that isn't being discussed with patients.  The article just reiterates information that can mislead you if your real problem is pancreatic not villi related.
