I'm here, lol. The afternoon person called in sick and the office administrator put out an email saying such, and now everyone is trying to get their stuff in before I leave at 2:20. :( Soooo, been busy with WORK. :P

Hi everyone!

Just got back from my appt. My doctor said that last time we spoke I had said I was getting better. I had to tell her that at that point I thought I was getting better. She said that healing cycles, but your "goods" get better than they used to be and your "bads" aren't as bad. I told her that my "goods" and "bads" are the same as always and that I had had d for five weeks.

She was surprised that the acupuncture wasn't working and wants to do it herself for two sessions. She said she works more on energy than the other guy does and that she also works on emotions. She thinks that some pent-up emotions are causing a physical reaction and that any blood work I have will come out sub-clinical. However, she thought that it was a good idea to rule out anything I thought it could be for that very reason. After two treatments with her, she said we will know whether she can help me or not. She's not saying it's all in my mind, rather that the stored up feelings are causing a physical reaction, which is why it's worse under times of stress and has progressed over a period of years starting from when I was a child.

I can see how this is possible, even though it sounds pretty "out there" so I'm going to go in for more acupuncture with her. She really thinks that any bloodwork I have will show nothing. I think this shows that there are many of us out here who get tested and tested but nothing shows up -- so she's looking for other methods of healing.

I'm just glad that I had found the lab to use, thanks to you guys, so that I am at least getting the most accurate test I can. The lady in her office had said that I could use whatever lab I wanted .... but when I took the Ingenex kit in there, she said I could GO to whatever lab I wanted! I said this lab was in California and got teary because I didn't think I'd be able to get the test done. So, they took the blood and are sending it in ... I'm not normally a cryer, but it sure works!! ;)

So, basically, she doesn't think it's Lyme, she doesn't really think it's anything ... she's of the philosphy that you need to give the body what it needs to heal itself ... but I got tested anyway.

dlp252 Apprentice

Wow Carla, I'd get emotional in her office with what she said, lol. Anyway, I'm glad they are sending the test in for you! My doctor also said healing goes in cycles, and she also said that eventually I'll have more good days than bad...in other words, it kind of sneaks up on you. I don't know...hard to believe that when we've been feeling so bad for so long. B)

That's what she had said, too. But, since the cycles could be best described as spinning, it's not really healing that's going on ... I'm staying the same. I actually feel no better than I did a year ago.

I think she thinks everyone's problems are related to their emotional state, I don't think it was just me. Or maybe there were comments to tip her off, but it didn't seem like it.

morganb Newbie

You got teary? Wow...

I'm glad to hear she doesn't think it's lyme disease...although now we don't know what it could be next.

rinne Apprentice

Carla, are you taking Vitamin C with the salt? I am wondering if you need to cut back on the C if that is the case, it might help the D.

Talk of testing can make me feel crazy these days. I had an email from a good friend asking about my test results and my mother keeps asking too. I have explained that Lyme is a clinical diagnosis, that the doctor I saw gave me a clinical diagnosis and that the tests from Igenex may not show anything. I suppose I could be invested in this diagnosis because it is the one that I came up with and I suppose I could like my doctor because he confirmed what I came up with but the reality is I have almost all the symptoms. I know that everything I am doing is supporting wellness regardless of what is wrong with me and my gut feeling is this is Lyme so I am going with this diagnosis. I will do the alternative treatment for Lyme and if I do not regain my health in a significant way then I will continue to explore.

I am working on clearing negative patterns and relationships from my life, the great thing about being ill is that it is obvious just what they are.

That's great that you had the test done, now you can rest knowing that you have done what you can to investigate whether or not you have Lyme. I've been told that the important thing about the results is that they are read by a LLMD, I think I've mentioned before that an alternative is to go to Lyme Strategies, post your results and ask for help.

CarlaB Enthusiast

Yea, Morgan, you'd have thought I was you!! ;) Dad was sitting in the parking lot and I called him on his cell phone to come in and deal with it because I couldn't handle the situation.

Rinne, I had the d before I started the Vitamin C. It didn't seem to affect it at all. At one point I cut back to see, and it didn't change anything.

I actually had started getting rid of negative patterns and relationships about three years ago .... but there is probably still some baggage to deal with.

You had mentioned the LLMD. I thought I'd wait to see what kind of results I have and go from there. I know not to just take my doctor's word for it with the results, but since I will have a copy, too, I'll definately be able to ask for some help interpreting them. I seem to have all the symptoms myself, but not the rash, which I realize many people never see.

hey.....I can't help it that i get emotional sometimes...I also can't help it that you are most often the one that sees me like that.

Yeah I'll send you that photo.

You B girls are so funny. :)

Carla.....I think it's good you cried, now you get the lab you want. This other lady sounds a little voodoo-ish, interesting theories......I have dingo'd most of what I read on taht post and have to re-read it to remember now.

Julie....so nice to see you and love your darling, cheery thoughts as always. But listen here, as I said that, I realized I didn't want to put pressure on you to always have to be cheery, even a greeter has a bad day, adn we will take you any way you are. ;)

PATTI - - OMG you are quite the hottie in your new photo and cute jacket!!!!

So I met with the newbie for coffee today.....she is SO overhwlemed and I remember so clearly that feeling, in the beginning, just thinking how hard everything is and how you're never going to get it. I gave her some simple materials and assured her that it would get easier and easier and it would become second nature....urged her to visit this site (would not tell her my user name as I said I am jsut an inordinately goofy person and didn't want to scare her  ), I mean, what would I have done without this forum in the beginning, I think I was reading and reading on here about 4 or 5 hours a day. In between sleeping for 16 hours a day.

These dingos are getting SO demanding, they expect a walk SEVEN days a week, I don't even get a break, and they stare at me harder and harder all the time.....best to get it over with, I suppose. Freezing cold and gray outside. My hair's going to frizz. will just polish off this entire container  of TJ's rice pudding and then we'll amble on.

Carla,

With you having ticks burned by your stepfather (is that right) as a child, I would have a hard to believing you didn't have lyme. I know, not all ticks carry lyme. I just can't believe emotional baggage, if you will, would continue to cause this much of a problem, especially if you've dealt with a lot of it.

Rinne,

I'd also be surprised if Igenix came back negative. Seems to me you've found your answer.

AndreaB Contributor

Patti,

Just went back and saw your new pic. Lovely. :)

jerseyangel Proficient

Thanks Susan and Andrea :) I just wanted any new people to know I'm not really a cute gray cat!

Susan, I think that what you're doing for that newly diagnosed girl is wonderful. You're getting her off to a good start :D

Carla, Sorry it didn't go better at the doctor. Good that they will use the lab you want, though. Since you're not a cryer, maybe this is a turning point of sorts in your recovery. You may be beginning to let some of these pent up issues (that you didn't realize you still had) go.

The Kinesiologist that I saw also believes in old emotions affecting our health. During the muscle testing, he asked me to say various words like worry, trapped, and afraid. He then tested my arm the same as if he would for foods. It was very interesting--I have the exact notes he took in my bedroom, so I can't remember exactly what he deduced, but it sounds an awful lot like what your doctor was saying to you.

I know you're feeling frustrated and you're needing answers--I really believe that they will come. I think you're getting close :)

Rachel--24 Collaborator

Carla, I'm glad they went ahead and did the test.

I totally would have burst into tears right then and there....I've been in those situations before...when the disapointment just overwhelms me and tears start pouring out.

It works though!! B)

I dunno about what she said.....seems to me you wouldnt be sick for so much of your life because of emotions. From what I can tell....(because I did have perfect health for 31 years) is that now that I'm sick...emotions are harder to deal with....WAY harder to deal with. Its not the emotions holding me back from recovery though....its my health issues holding me back from dealing with the emotional stuff the way I once did. Its just another thing piling up on me.....more stuff that my body cant handle right now. We are not "capable" of dealing with everything because there are things not functioning properly in our bodies.

How can healing start if we're still sick from whatever got us this way to begin with??

It reminds me of when I first got sick and I was going through that break-up shortly after. Noone was taking me serious when I said something was wrong inside of me. Everyone was just thinking I was depressed because of the break-up and that that, in turn was causing me physical symptoms and all I needed to do was get over it and move on and my health would be fine.

I knew it wasnt that BUT at the same time I was NOT handling the break-up like I would have if it werent for the sickness. So yeah.....basically I couldnt cope and anyone could easily *think* I was depressed or emotionally disturbed or whatever....because I was NOT myself. Like I said awhile back....its 3 years later and I'm still not "over it" and "moved on". How the heck is that even possible with this illness sucking the life out of me?? Ok...well maybe slight exaggeration...but hey....I cant eat anything and I'm allergic to every chemical on the planet....soooo I'm pretty limited as far as the whole "moving on" and "dealing with it" process goes.

The thing is....people who are sick are gonna carry baggage around....its pretty much a given because we just dont have the coping skills that those who are in perfect health have....unfotunately for us. :( Thats why we burst into tears at the drop of a dime. We're not equipped to handle it right now. How can the lady say its "nothing".....isnt that like saying its all in your head??

I dont think thats the case.....I think your health problems are legit...may not be Lyme but *something* is bringing you down....and you shouldnt have to live like this.....none of us should. :( Thats just my $.02

CarlaB Enthusiast

Rachel, I agree with you. I think emotions are connected in some way, but I'm actually pretty balanced right now. I dealt with a lot of my boxed up garbage a few years back, actually when Morgan got to be the age when it all started ... I realized then that I had boxed up a lot and I dealt with it through spiritual direction, which I've been getting for almost 10 years now ... granted, it's not psychological counseling, but I think it's better, at least for me. I'm pretty balanced. Though I do see a connection between my health and stress. I certainly don't see how it could be making me physically ill at this point since I've dealt with so much of it and since I have such great support from Adam and the kids. So, I think you're right, there is something more, and my tears got them to take my blood. :P I don't think I've cried in front of people since Trigonometry and Analytic Geometry in high school ...

Patti, cute picture! How are you liking your straight hair?

YAY for tears!!

I cry in front of people ALL the time.....its kind of crazy...I couldnt even begin to count the amount of people (half of whom were strangers) that have seen me cry the past 4 years.

Before I got sick.....totally different story....I never cried....I was like made of stone or something.

OK...I have not seen Pattis new pic yet....will have to refresh. :)

Patti, I love your new picture! Cute jacket too :)

Carla, I am so sorry about your appt. I believe in emotional baggage, and repressed emotions, and it affecting ones health but I dont beleive it's the only thing going on. And then there is the other side of the coin, I think that being ill and out of balance affects our emotions and mental state-- so it works both ways. In my treatments I wanted to scream if one more person suggested I was sick because of situational stuff  . I actually had a friend tell me I just needed to relax a little, go on vacation, sit out by the pool, and reassess-- YEAH that is going to cure me of all my allergies and sensitivities, fix my digestion, rid me of toxic waste and systemic infection...riiiiight.......

Anyway hang in there Carla! You are working so hard and I believe it will pay off :)

Oh btw, are you looking to adopt? A not so little girl, 34 yrs old in fact, I'm sure my parents wont mind  Who else wants to be a part of the B family?:lol:

Hi Susie Q! Oh those dingos of yours, always looking to get into something. You can send them over any time you want a break :)

Hey, I forgot to comment on the swinging of the arms while walking. I'm a big arm swinger  I am sure I look ridiculous but I don't care. At the park where I walk there is actually a lady who walks without swinging her arms, they are stiff and straight and by her sides-- that actually looks funny. So I say go ahead everybody, swing away with your arms! It will set you free...and it's fun :lol:

Yep, they're quick to blame it on emotional states. :( I feel slightly better in some ways than I did a year ago, but worse in others.

Yah, I'm an arm swinger too...I natural walk is pretty fast and well, you just can't help but swing the arms. I try NOT to do it at work though because, well, I might hit someone, and working with attorneys....well, that wouldnt't be good.

Okay, physical therapist wants me to NOT strength train every day, lol. I do one body part per day usually, but he says that even doing a bicep curl uses the neck muscles, so he wants me to alternate days of upper and lower body. :( That means it will take me LONGER to do it. :P

Chiropractor hooked me up to some kind of machine today to measure the range of motion in my neck...as expected I'm below the average. He wanted to have some kind of "measurement" other than his visual to see if and when I improve. I am almost convinced though that this is related to one of my CONDITIONS, lol. I've had it too long and it's sore even on vacation when I'm not doing ANYTHING. Chiropractor guy also has a neck warmer thingy on order for me, lol...my little corningware hot pack isn't cutting it I guess.

No, it doesn't need to take longer, as in more days. Instead of doing one body part, do two -- Mon. -- chest, back, Tues. -- legs, Wed. -- rest, Thurs. -- biceps, triceps, shoulders, Fri. -- legs (different than Tues.)

Yep, that's the way I'm reading it. I am no math whiz but I did enjoy it (except geometry). Numbers where my job......accounting/receivables/payables.

I would think it's very positivie too. A girl can always hope. B) If there is no hope, there isn't much to life.

Hugs Richard. Hope this doesn't have you down long. :(

Have a good time at your meeting today. That is a very nice thing for you to do.

Hi Patti! Hope you are feeling good today. Still adore your kitty whenever I see his face.

Miamia,

Sorry about the candida. Did you talk to your doctor about getting tested for lyme through Igenix? I would still consider it, especially if eos comes back negative.

Carla,

Thinking about you and your appointment today. :)

Hi Donna! Always love to see your smiling face too. :D

Andrea-

I was tested at igenix for lyme- it was negative.

Hello all! I missed one day and I am 10 or so pages behind, you all have been so chatty  . So I am just going to jump in with random stuff:

Laura, such an adorable picture of your nieces :)

Hi Celia :) Good to see you.

Morgan, hi sweetie :) You and your mom look so cute in your picture!

Mia Mia, how are you? You have been quiet lately. I have been thinking about you, hoping you are hanging in there with everything.

Rachel, the lyme stuff is still all over my head.

Patti, not you too with the big words

Susan, hugs you goof! I am so sorry you were so sad, but this just in, you woke up feeling yourself today and I am so happy :) Sadness be gone!!

Richard, I'm sorry about your experiences at the conference and then the glutening when you returned. I can relate on so many levels. I feel as if I live in a bubble, and when I have to go outside of that into the "real world" I am reminded just how different I am and how much I am isolated by a special diet and food, chemical, and environmental sensitivities. It definitely sucks. Hope your mojo returns soon :)

I have been thinking about you all so much. I have to say again how much I love this thread  and all of you. Even though we may have some different things going on I have realized that we are so much more alike than different, if that makes sense? Carla, sharing that you too feel like your life is passing you by, Patti too, no matter where we all are in our lives (younger, older, single, married, etc) our illnesses/health issues have interupted our journeys, and we have had to walk a different path, not by choice, and that's a hard adjustment to make.

Julie-

I agree - this thread is amazing and we all do ahve so much in common- It is so nice to go some where and feel "normal" for all my differences.

Did you tell me you once went on diflucan? If so how did you react to it? This may be what Ig o on for the candida and I am a little nervous

Miamia

Hi  I just had the same problem with Maninis Am gluten-free so I am very careful. It was delicious but big tummy ache and swelling.  I was soooo careful.  Nothing different but the tortellini.  Maybe cross contamination of some kind ?.  Best  Susan

Sounds like a good plan, Jack. Correct about the genes. About 40% of the general population possess the genetic potential to develop celiac disease but only about 1% of the general population actually develops celiac disease. So, genetic testing is used as a rule out measure.
    • Jack Common
I haven't seen any information there are other genes which trents wrote but what if I spend money to do this test and the results show I have these genes. It will mean nothing. I can have these genes and not have celiac disease if I know it right. Because biopsy is not available, unfortunately, the most reliable methods are blood tests, in my opinion. So I'm gonna eat gluten for another two months and then do the test again. It will be 12 weeks eating food with gluten so some symptoms might appear. Now, I don't have any except fogginess but I'm a software developer so it could be normal for me. Talking about how much food containing gluten to eat, I'm eating 6 slices of wheat bread per day (each slice weighs around 35 grams). I think it's much more than other people eat doing a gluten challenge. Before a gluten free diet I had symptoms like some food intolerance, diarrhea, bloating, belching. However, I also had giardiasis and after treating it I started a gluten free diet so it's unclear whether I had this symptoms because of eliminating gluten or this parasite. The symptoms for both are very similar. So I think it was this parasite because two years ago and before I didn't have these symptoms and I always ate gluten freely. Am I thinking okay or should I consider/do something else? I appreciate any suggestions.

Welcome to the forum, @Debado, Migraines at night can be caused by high levels of histamine.  Histamine Intolerance can cause physical symptoms like migraines. Foods contain histamine.  Our bodies make histamine, an important neurotransmitter.  Our bodies naturally produce more histamine at night as part of our circadian rhythm, our sleep-wake cycles.   Some foods like gluten and nuts contain high histamine themselves or trigger our bodies to produce more histamine.  A low histamine diet is helpful, cutting out high histamine foods and histamine-release triggering foods.   Our bodies can breakdown a certain amount of histamine, but sometimes our bodies cannot keep up with the amount of histamine needing to be broken down, and can be overwhelmed by the amount of histamine resulting in Histamine Intolerance and health problems like migraines.   Vitamins C, B12, Pyridoxine B6 and thiamin B1 help lower histamine levels.  Our bodies use these vitamins to make an enzyme DOA (diamond oxidase) that breaks down histamine.  DAO from beef or pork kidney is an over-the-counter supplement that can be taken.   Riboflavin B2 is very helpful for relieving migraines.   Have you been diagnosed with Celiac Disease or suspect you have it?   Happy Holidays!
