Okay, this is interesting!!! I'm wondering if my allergy shots contain it.

That would kind of pull all this together wouldn't it?

Do you need to continue the allergy shots? Is this something bioSET can work with?

Thanks Donna. :)

Carla,

Was that bloodwork you had done to determine your mercury level?

Carla,

Was that bloodwork you had done to determine your mercury level?

It was a six hour urine test done after taking DMPS. I kept laughing at the orange jug in the refrigerator and thinking of Rachel having hers at the grocery store!

You're welcome! :)

Well, I'm less inclined to continue these shots than I would have a few months ago. One of the last times I had my shots, I mentioned to the girl who gave them to me that I was considering stopping them, and she looked at me like :o and said "oh no you have to continue forever". Um, I don't think so, lol. From all I've read on the Internet and in some of my allergy books, most people get them for around 5 years (although granted some longer, but not FOREVER, lol). I've been on them almost 5 years now (but with two different doctors--with this doctor only about a year and a half). So, I'm sort of not to sure about what they tell me now...then there was that fiasco of forgetting to tell the doctor I was there thing...that sort of cemented the deal in my mind.

I'm not sure about whether BioSET can help directly, but I think indirectly they can by clearing my detox pathways, etc. Once all my pathways are working the way they should and I reduce some of the burden on my system (like mercury, adrenals, etc.) I think the allergies will take care of themselves. I never had environmental allergies until about 5-6 years ago. So, it seems to me like there is some connection between my general decline in health and the development of the allergies and the dental work in the last 10 years. I have high hope that a lot of things will be resolved when I get to the source of it all and I'm really thinking it's the mercury that's the source.

Holy Cow, I'd never want to GO anywhere with one! I had to use it for 6 hours, then shake it to mix it up, then pour part of it into a smaller container (indicating how much there was altogether), then MAIL the container to the lab! I guess that's one of the benefits of having an out of town doctor!

 I'm pretty sure if I DO have to do one that I'll just take the day off work and stay home. There's absolutely no way I could bring it to my job...someone would drink it. We have a lot of food "thieves" here.

Dear ClarkBent as Stupor-Man,

I used to take allergy shots when I was a kid. Do they have adverse effects? I never heard about it. I do not even know what kind I was on. All I know is I had to be taken off of them, because they made me mean.

Dear CarlaB, Rachel, and Donna,

You guys were discussing MMR vaccines causing problems in people. I had that in kindergarten! Does it hurt your immune system? This is scary. It seems more and more things that are supposed to protect you actually make you sick!

Sincerely,

NoGluGirl

I always think its kind of weird that the orange jugs are like the first thing you see when you sit down.

Shouldnt they be "hidden" or something?

You know what I thought the first time I saw those?? I thought...dang.....those ones are alot smaller than the one I had to lug around. <_<

No kidding....the one I had was probably twice that size....and I barely filled it to the first line. I remember Nurse Cratchet looking at it like "Is that ALL??"

Rachel, the lyme and mercury connections are interesting but somewhat confusing to me... at least that you can't have lyme without mercury... are you talking about chronic or persistent lyme infections or simply an acute case as well? I'm gonna try and do some research on lyme and mercury in the next week or so as I'm planning on getting tested for both regardless

If you have Lyme it impairs your body's ability to detox......the bacteria pruduces neurotoxins which "poison" the body. It can have the same affect that mercury does. This in turn causes other toxins to build up in the body....mercury is always an issue. Alot of times people with Lyme need to have their amalgams removed in order to recover from Lyme.

Also...were you aware that mercury and candida always go hand in hand? When there is mercury toxicity there is always going to be a candida problem. The yeast and the mercury have an affinity for one another and yeast will bind with the mercury molecule.

This same exact thing happens with Lyme and mercury....they are buddies.....the bacteria will bind with mercury. There is no chance of that mercury getting detoxed when its firmly attached to the bacteria or yeast....and when the livers detox pathways are impaired.

With Chronic Lyme there are always several issues to be dealt with....over time these things pile up on top of the Lyme.

An acute case of Lyme wouldnt have these complications. If someone is treated immediately....before the disease can become chronic...these other things dont factor in.

I would imagine if someone already mercury toxic becomes infected with Lyme...this person may have more diffuclty overcoming it. It could be reasons like this that some people (even though treated immediately) still struggle to regain their health.

I just read a story the other day of a man who was mercury toxic but not sick....until he got bit all over his leg by a spider. The toxins from the spider was the straw that broke the camels back for him.....he got symptoms of mercury toxicity after that.

After learning that over 90% of Autistic kids are testing positive for Lyme it makes sense to me.

The kids are most likely getting the bacteria passed to them while still in the womb. At the same time they are getting mercury from their mother (assuming she has fillings).

By the time the baby is born the mercury and Lyme would likely be working together and detox pathways might be impaired. Once they start getting additional doses of mercury through the vaccinations things can go from bad to worse.

I think those two things, genetics, and other factors all play a role in who gets Autism.

People who develop these issues later in life obviously dont get Autism but we do get very sick.

The Western Blots are the most important tests. Other tests can be ordered later on if needed but my Dr. only ordered the Western Blots to start with.

My Dr. ordered the Lyme tests the first time I saw him...he only uses Igenix so it worked out for me. I never got tested by any other lab. He told me that other labs are useless and rarely are positive for Lyme.....they miss most cases.

My Dr. is out of network so my insurance only covers 50%. My portion for both tests was about $95.

Yes, orals, four of them all at once, taking them started the six hours.

When the nurse brought the jug into the examination room, I knew immediately what it was! LOL I couldn't believe how large it was ... bringing it to work???:lol::lol::ph34r: Did you have to carry it across the store every time you used the bathroom? They had me drinking a lot of water during the test, so it wasn't like I could just not go!

This in turn causes other toxins to build up in the body....mercury is always an issue. Alot of times people with Lyme need to have their amalgams removed in order to recover from Lyme.

I had my amalgams out in 1991 and got significantly better until my most recent Lyme flare-up which started in 2003. My mercury tested barely over the limit (4.1, supposed to be 4 or lower), and I had forgotten that I had eaten sushi (like I should be eating sushi with Lyme  , but I love it and it's easy!) past the last day I was allowed to have fish before the test. I think it would have been within range without the sushi.

I'm glad that I'm not dealing with the amalgam/mercury issue now ... and I don't think I would have gotten better the last time if I didn't have the fillings out and take supplements to get it out of my system.

Also...were you aware that mercury and candida always go hand in hand? When there is mercury toxicity there is always going to be a candida problem.

Makes sense. Also explains why I don't seem to have a candida problem. I have no symptoms of candida whatsoever.

People who develop these issues later in life obviously dont get Autism but we do get very sick.

Some days I become rather withdrawn and don't communicate well (listening or talking). So, even though we don't develop autism, it seems that some of the characteristics of it can be present. On days I don't communicate well, it's still easy for me to communicate via email or message boards. Autistic kids often can communicate with keyboards.

Since you only know me from here, I should also say that all the above is completely different from my personality type! I'm generally very outgoing, I even talk to strangers, I love to be around people, etc. Right now I hide away at home.

With the mental confusion I find it difficult to talk with people, so it's easier to stay away. I have trouble with word recall, and trouble remembering what people are talking about. My family's used to it. I have a friend here in town who also has Lyme and was diagnosed around the time I was. She's the same way. She doesn't even like to answer the phone because of it. We like talking to each other because we understand!

What do you guys think of this. I started two new medications a week ago last Friday. When I originally started the first medications, I felt a little better immediately, then I herxed at 28 days for 5 days. This time, I started herxing right away, which also is normal. The thing is, I still just lay around all day because I have no energy to do anything.

I've been debating calling my doctor, but maybe this is normal??? Any ideas?

I've been taking charcoal (when I wake up in the middle of the night because it has to be taken away from all the other stuff) and drinking lemon water or apple cider vinegar in water.

I don't hurt or feel bad, but I hardly have the energy to sit up. I get dizzy, too, so when we're away from home, I need someone to hold onto ... at home there are not big open places to worry about!

Should I call? I'm thinking this is normal, just part of being on antibiotics.

AndreaB Contributor

Carla,

I don't know. Did you have any energy before you started the last two new meds? :(

I'm not sure exactly, but it's been "linked" to some not so nice stuff. Where's Lynn...I think she had the most up to date info in it.

I always think its kind of weird that the orange jugs are like the first thing you see when you sit down.

Oh my, if those jugs are small in comparison to the one you had, YIKES, lol!!! I also tend to think they should be hidden somehow--they could put them under the table where the detox bath stuff is...there's a table cloth there I think...that would hide them, lol.

My jug was huge ... and I kept it in a bag, even at home! I'd have it in a brown grocery sack if I had to take it to a doctor's office! I just have trouble carrying a pee jug out in the open!

Me too. I'd definitely have to put it in something else even at home and especially if it were going in the refrigerator! I put my Enterolab samples in a bag, then another bag then wrapped it in towels, lol.

Yeah, I sometimes wonder about this. I have problems forming words sometimes too. One day not long ago I was trying to tell my mother something, and I absolutely could not come up with the word. It just wouldn't come and I couldn't even think of what it meant to give her another word instead. That was a bit distressing, lol. <_< I frequently lose my concentration while talking and sometimes I totally space out if someone is talking a lot...my eyes look like  .

Should I call? I'm thinking this is normal, just part of being on antibiotics.

It could just be the antibiotics, they sometimes make me dizzy, but it also couldn't hurt to call them and make sure it's *normal*. The no energy thing worries me more though. It could be that your body is just working overtime to process all the different meds and that it will pass soon.

CarlaB Enthusiast

Andrea, yes, I had a bit more energy before the two new meds. I think these are causing a herx, which is what's draining my energy. My sweet hubby stopped by Starbucks and came home with a latte for me and made me lunch. Then he went back to work.:wub::wub: Donna, I didn't even think about it as being a side-effect of the meds! Gosh, I guess it could be that, too.

I'm thinking that maybe I should just wait till next week, and if it still hasn't gotten better, maybe I'm killing the bugs too fast for my body to handle and should lighten up on the meds.

Donna, I say words, it's not like when you can't think of the word, though I do that A LOT, too. I'll just say the wrong word and leave people looking at me like this :lol::lol: But I lose my concentration like you say, too. You know how kids will tell you a whole story, then ask a question? Well, my kids do that and I don't have a clue what they're talking about! It's my turn to look like this  . Then I tell them to simplify it because I can't understand. They're starting to do this more often on their own now!

NoGluGirl Contributor

Dear CarlaB,

I get like this too. I am not on any antibiotics at the moment. There are just some days I can barely function at all. Just doing the dishes seems to take all the energy I have. Then, there are days I get a lot done. It depends on the day. It is rough.

Sincerely,

NoGluGirl

P.S. I know what you mean with the jugs. I could never look at our fridge the same way again for a while after having to store a stool sample in there!

I had to go back and read this reference I had linked before:

Open Original Shared Link

From what I'm reading here, he is saying that there is evidence that shows that the MMR vaccine can effect the immune systems of children with autism. If you read the article, it discusses how the antibodies are lower to certain viruses in those autistic children studied compared to other children, but the antibodies to measels, mumps, and rubella are higher in autistic children. I think it has something to do with genetic predisposition combined with an interaction with the MMR vaccine. My feeling is that it may affect others who are not autistic as well.

I suspect that the MMR vaccine I got at age 26 did play some kind of role in my health and the health of my gut. The graduate school I was attending made me get the vaccine, even though I had already had the measels and rubella vaccines. I wasn't given the option of getting just the mumps vaccine. I didn't know at the time the dangers of vaccines, especially multiple vaccines in one shot, and thought it was no big deal.

Stupid MMR vaccine  !

I also didn't know at the time that I could have objected to getting the shot on philosophical grounds. I just thought I had to do it to stay in school.

BTW, the MMR vaccine is a LIVE vaccine. That means you are getting the live viruses injected into your body!

I'm just hoping that the BioSET treatment I did inadvertantly took care of the problem. I should ask my doctor about it again, but last time he checked, I was clear for the MMR vaccine.

I thought this was an interesting summary of the paper:

...there is a growing consensus and consolidation of information, a coherence about what appears to be happening in these children with autism: intestinal immunopathology, a proinflammatory cytokine profile, a hyperimmune response to dietary proteins, dysbiosis, autoimmune phenomena, and possible opioid toxicity.

From the historical perspective we have a body of evidence supporting an association between measles virus and developmental disorders, including autism. We also have the demonstration of an abnormal immune response to the measles virus, and more recently, in Medical Veritas, the demonstration that in children who have had two shots of the MMR vaccine instead of just one, the bowel disease is worse

@TerryinCO, Are you taking a B Complex in addition to your B12?  B 12 needs the other B vitamins to function correctly.  Celiac disease and the damage to the intestines makes absorbing vitamins and minerals difficult.  Talk to your doctor and nutritionist about supplementing while you're healing.   Are you on any medication for your Gerd?  Here is often caused by too little production of digestive juices.  Supplementing with a B Complex will help.

I definitely try to get those in my diet.  There is most likely a genetic component to the issues.  Thank you so much for the advice!!

Bless your heart!  That does make for a bumpy journey!  The Takeda ALINAMIN EX Plus really works well for pain relief.  I was surprised at how well it works.  I can't recommend it enough.  I can't tolerate aspirin nor nsaids.   Are you getting enough Omega Threes in your diet?  Healthy fats like olive oil help keep our discs and joints healthy and fluid.

Thank you!  I will have to look into that.  I have Anklosing Spondylitis, bulging and dehydrated discs so pain is a big part of my life.

Welcome to the forum, @trsprecker, I needed daily pain relief for three crushed vertebrae and found out that Thiamine, Pyridoxine, and Cobalamin (Vitamins B 1, B 6, and B12) have an analgesic effect.   Mechanisms of action of vitamin B1 (thiamine), B6 (pyridoxine), and B12 (cobalamin) in pain: a narrative review https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35156556/   This is the one I order through that big online store... It's made in Japan.  I've been taking it for a couple of years now without problems.   GSG 12X Takeda ALINAMIN EX Plus Vitamin B1 B6 B12 Health Supplementary from Japan 120 Tablets I don't do corn, nuts nor artificial sweeteners, either!    Keep us posted on your progress!
