Ok...lemme think.

I asked Denise why Donna (that would be you :P ) would have no indication of Lyme in 2 previous BioSET tests....not reactive to a single vial....and yet in ART Scott picks it up right away...along with co-infections??

I wanted to know WHY??

She said that with BioSET they are picking up things that the immune system has become "sensitized" to....immunologoical reactions only. Remember....BioSET is all about Identify, De-sensitize and Reset...those 3 things.

So.....a person can have Lyme and yet the immune system is not "reacting" to it immunologically. If the immune system has not become sensitized to the Lyme antigens....you will not be reactive when touching those antigens in the vials.

BioSET can only "de-sensitize" what you have become sensitized to....but there can be things present in your body which you are not reactive to and those things wouldnt show up in BioSET.

Likewise...there are people like me....who's immune system is pretty much in over-drive and has become sensitized to just about everything....including my own hormones and such. :(

So my immune system is sensitized to alot of these things.

Way back Anna had told me that it doesnt necessarily mean that I have the disease....we dont know that for sure....however, she felt very certain that I did.....based on the "overall" picture.

So basically Denise said the same thing....when the immune system is sensitized to these antigens....it doesnt mean that the disease is actually there. It means that at some point the immune system encountered these antigens and became sensitized to them. They could be present and not causing disease....but still causing an immunological response from the immune system...which would show up in BioSET.

It could also be showing up due to cross-reactions...especially in someone like me who's immune system is highly reactive and there is alot of cross-reactivity going on.

I asked her if it shows up in ART...does this mean its actually there??

She said yes....but I'm not sure if she really could explain it....as she really doesnt know much about ART...she knows how BioSET works but not ART.

I think I will email Scott and get his side on the ART...and see how that works in comparison with BioSET. Basically if something is "identifying" itself in ART...what exactly does that mean???

My feeling since I started ART is that it is more accurate as far as pinpointing the issues that are causing the greatest stress. This is why Anna wanted Scott to test me to begin with....to get more clear answers and a better idea of where to really focus our attention.

With BioSET....its so sensitive that if your immune system is "switched-on" to alot of different antigens and so many things are showing up as problematic....it gets hard to know what the bigger issues are. Thats the problem with me....there are layers upon layers of issues.

So basically...you could have Lyme but your immune system is not "sensitive" to it....which would be a good thing....but in that case you would get no reaction with BioSET.

Does this make sense???

Tonight my brain is fuzzy so I'm not sure if my explanation is very clear??

What Denise has been doing with me is alot of cross-checking. There are so many layers and as we go we get deeper into these layers. Last night she cross checked the metals and bacteria.

She said "Wow....the bacteria and metals are affecting you in ALOT of ways".

Yeah...they're doing alot of stuff in my head.

So the idea here is that the more we desensitize...the less stress on my immune sytem so that it can focus on other things. If my immune system isnt sensitized to all of the metals, bacteria and other things which are stored deep in my tissue...my body will have an easier time letting go of them.

So thats what we're doing....desensitizing all of the cross reactions going on with the bigger issues so that my body will hopefully release the metals and other toxins and I can get rid of them much easier....without my immune system freaking out on everything. The less reactivity the easier it is for my body to eliminate these toxins.

So....Donna...my understanding is that...say you touch the H. Pylori vial and "react" to it....this doesnt mean you still have H. Pylori. It could mean that your immune system became sensitized to it while you did have it.....and so you get a response when you touch that antigen.

Then they "de-sensitize" you and that response should clear. Of course you could also be reacting because the bacteria is there and thats why your immune system is switched on to it. This is why BioSET isnt totally diagnostic...but it can be....it can be telling you what you need to look into.

Obviously BioSET cant eliminate the H. Pylori (if its there).....but if your immune system is sensitive to it and reacting to it in that way....BioSET can desensitize and stop that reaction from continuing to occur.....and therefore taking that extra stress off of your body.

Ideally we want to be desensitized to everything...but mostly foods. :P

I dont react to H. Pylori or Klebsiella.....I never have reacted to those vials....and I still didnt react to either of them last night when we cross checked the bacteria.

I think my immune system has either never encountered them....or if it did...it dealt with them and they are gone and not problematic for me. I think the more overwhelmed your immune system becomes...the more likely it is to sensitize to things. If I had either of these infections right now....no doubt my immune system would be reacting to them...given the way it seems to sensitize to anything and everything.

I did react to Borrelia last night...and I always do. :(

I guess its safe to say that yes....I did have some exposure to Lyme (some positive bands on the WB's), it shows up in ART and my immune system has become sensitized to alot of Lyme related antigens (BioSET). So yeah....I think the evidence points to it actually being there for me.

In your case....you are alot less toxic and therefore your immune system isnt reacting to each and every thing your body encounters....so yeah....you could have Lyme and yet your immune system isnt "sensitive" to its presence.

I really would like to hear a good explanation of how ART works and what it means when something shows up. I know its not the same type of immunologic response that BioSET identifies.....its a different type of response from the bodies autonomic nervous system (ANS).

Anyways...its amazing how different this post is from the one I wrote last night on the same exact subject.

Its pretty scary actually...just proves to me that my mind is totally chaotic sometimes. Also this post (with the same information only less understandable  ) took me probably 3 x as long to type.

Oh, and I understand a little more about BioSET now.

If you contact Scott I'll be interested in hearing how he equates BioSET and ART.

I meet so many people in the waiting area at BioSET, lol..

Donna....wanna know how many people I've met in the waiting room??

Ummm.....ok....not counting the "massage" guy...I guess it would be ZERO.

So either you're alot more social....or its just alot busier on the weekends.

It could be me though...most people dont like me at first. :(

My shyness gets mistaken for stuck-upness about 99% of the time.

I'm usually only spending about 1 minute in the waiting room....so theres really no time to make conversation anyway. It must be a whole lot busier on Saturdays.

AND!!! THE BEST PART!!!!

I'm taller! I am 5'4"!!! Last time I was measured that I remember I was 5'3 and 1/4"

All that chiropractic/PT stuff must be working after all. :P

That is good news, I'd like to be 5'4'' too.

Well maybe I should cancel that part and just see if he sees anything on the xrays. I can always take care of that if I get sick down the road I suppose and I don't have money for surgeries and amalgam removal.

I guess I'll call and cancel the cavitat part again tomorrow. They're going to think I'm crazy.

The dentist I saw identified the cavitation from the x-rays, hopefully your dentist will be able to too.

the tetanus shots do have thimerosal... it's the TT (tetanus toxoid) vaccine in table 3 on this site: Open Original Shared Link

unless you know otherwise about a specific vaccination, I would also assume that all adult vaccinations contain thimerosal... I'm sure some adult vaccs don't have mercury but the CDC only agreed to take the mercury out of pediatric vaccines (of course it's now in the flu one that's recommended for kids 6 months to 5 years annually)....

Thanks for that information.

Dear Rinne,

I am intrigued. I wonder what your invention is. That will be interesting! I have some ideas for inventions, but do not have money to build prototypes and stuff. :( We are all so proud of our resident Taifun! AWWWWW! We love you too!

Thanks for your enthusiasm, I hope to live up to my taifun self.

Thanks for that information.

I talked to the gal up front and she said he won't do the cavitat unless it looks like I would need to have it done. They always do xrays first. I'll cross that bridge in August when I go see him.

It's a good thing that he will be removing the root canal as he knows about cavitations. What to do with the space is another story. I don't have money for all the crowns, removal and implant. I'll talk to him at my initial exam and find out what all needs to be done and any recommendations.

Hope you have a restful night. I'm tired too and need to get to bed earlier than normal to catch up on some zzzzzzzzzzzzzz's

Somehow I don't think it's quite hot enough for you either......Donna's not complaining yet. :P

Yes, I think it makes sense, lol. Thank You!!! Could also explain why I'm not as sick as some people who have lyme...a large part olf the equation for them (and you) might be the reaction from the immune system.

I'm still a little confused about the H.Pylori cuz both Anna and Dr. Rick did lab tests...Anna a saliva test and Dr. Rick a stool test and neither found any H.Pylori. Both are looking for antigens right? So the antigens weren't present which is good I guess, but Scott still found it when he did ART. So, I could still be reacting to the H.Pylori in some way but it isn't an immune response? Did I get that right? Same for lyme...my immune system isn't fighting it but it still could be causing other symptoms.

Donna....wanna know how many people I've met in the waiting room??

I'm pretty shy too which definitely gets mistaken for stuck-upness, but I can actually talk to strangers a little easier than to people I know slightly because there's no pressure I think. Usually with a stranger, I don't plan on ever seeing them again, so I can be as silly as I want. I think it IS busier on Saturdays though...there's always at least 1 other person there and sometimes the whole thing is full. I also tend to get there really early cuz I finish with my mom and aunt by 11:30 usually so since there isn't enough time to go home and relax (my appointment is usually at 1), I usually just head over and shop. But lately I haven't got that much stamina (or money these days) for shopping so I poop out early and sit on a bench for a while. Then I get bored and then just head over to Delicate Balance...I'm usually there around 20-30 minute early.

Ask at BioSET. I see a pamphlet there for saunas, but can't remember if its FAR or FIR sauna...it's one of those.

They're the same thing. Far = Far infrared sauna. FIR is the abbreviation.

Dear Rachel,

Thank you for posting all of the scientificness on BioSet! It is always good to learn more! Don't worry, your posts are really well done! They make plenty of sense! Even if they get messed up, it will be okay, because most of us are probably so whacked out with Lyme that it would make sense!

Dear Claire,

Stay away from Ginger! It has been used to induce abortions in China! I read drinking just half a cup of tea daily can increase your chances of becoming pregnant. If you can have tea, it might be worth a shot! We are keeping our fingers crossed for you!

Yep, you definitely should have a shot to protect you! Rusty wires seem to love you like insects love me and Donna! We have a lot of horror stories between us! Speaking of, it sounds like you have plenty of your own regarding ticks! A friend of mine's dog had one the size of a quarter on it, once! :o I did not know they could get that big!

Dear Everyone,

Dart did well yesturday. I stayed upstairs with him to make sure I was accessible. He was sad, because Mom and Dad went out of town for the Celtic Woman concert in Louisville. I was ecstatic! I actually got to sleep for once! Plus, it was quiet, with no one bothering me! ;) Of course, then they came home. :( It was nice while it lasted!

Dart was so funny last night. They got home about 1:30 am. He actually told them it was time to go to bed! He had worn himself out running up and down the stairs! Every time he heard a car, he would get all hyped up!

I do not believe I told you guys about my college situation. After working my butt off for two freaking years, I am not going to be able to get my Associate's degree. It turns out, my loan did not cover $900 worth of a previous term, and I am screwed. I cannot afford to pay that off, nor can I afford to take my last class. It is a total of $1,650 for it. :( I am so spinached right now! :(

I am so tired of working so hard for nothing. No matter what I do, I never get anything but grief and exhaustion for it. That has been the story of my life. Normally, I am an optimist to a fault. Anymore, everything just feels hopeless. I wonder why I even bother. :(

So Carla....what do you think? Should I trade my gym sauna for BioSET??

How do I know the gym sauna isnt a Far Infrared?? Are they just standard at the gym??

Anyways...I'd rather go to BioSET for the convenience obviously.....but I was just curious how you can tell which is infrared or not??

If you look at the sauna you can tell. If it has a heater in the corner with what looks like coals, that's a regular one. If it has panels all over the walls, it's FIR. FIR are cooler, too. At the highest they are 150 degrees.

I don't know whether twice a month is worth it or not, it's certainly better than nothing. Maybe if you did it a few times you could see if you like it, then put your money towards a portable one if you do.

CarlaB Enthusiast
Ok...now I remember why I lost interest in the BioSET Infrared sauna when I'd read about it before.

It sounds like you have to get *inside* something.....not like the sauna at the gym where I just walk in and sit down and sweat....and get out when I want.

So what does this mean?? Is my head inside the sauna?? My head is where the most toxins are but I dont want to feel claustrophobic while I detox.

Carla...how does this work??

Oh.....and what do you wear?? Regular gym clothes or what??

It depends on what they're sauna looks like. The portable ones do have your head outside the sauna. I have a "three person" sauna (I'd like to see you get three people in it  , Open Original Shared Link), so it's more like the gym but smaller. You might ask to see it next time you're there.

It's best to wear nothing. If I take one with Morgan, we wear nothing, but have a towel for privacy. Usually I take one alone and wear nothing. At the most, wear a bathing suit .... but the more the infrared can reach on your body, the more you will detox. I'm sure the one at BioSET is private ... I would think it would need to be.

CarlaB Enthusiast
But the thing that I like about not having a good memory is I don't mind when people tell me the same stories over and over again, cuz it's like hearing it new everytime  . It's a benefit! My Dad tells the same stories and jokes all the time, but it's all new to me!

Claire

Same thing with movies!

Yes, I think it makes sense, lol. Thank You!!! Could also explain why I'm not as sick as some people who have lyme...a large part olf the equation for them (and you) might be the reaction from the immune system.

It also could be hiding so well from the immune system right now that it's not showing a reaction on BioSET, if I understand correctly. Much of the bacteria can be dormant. I was only IGG positive. I had one band IGM (41) and one IND on IGM.

Also, the symptoms come and go. I was okay for years and years and never would have guessed I had a serious bacteria invading my body!

I think it's good that you caught it before you did get sick like me. I wish I had caught it earlier myself.

You guys being shy. That's funny. I'm not shy at all, I talk to strangers and everyone else all the time. Not so much since I've been sick though. It's really changed my personality. I can't wait till I feel better!

I'm glad you got some quiet time. Everyone needs that one in a while.

Things are hard right now but don't give up. I can understand the hopeless feeling and it's hard to rise above it, but not impossible. Pick and choose what needs to be focused on and try to let go of as much anger as you can. That's counterproductive and it's not going to make your parents anymore careful with cc or change their attitude. Keep in mind, that if your mother is as sick as you think, it could be messing with her brain as well.

Hugs.

I will literally talk with anyone ... like while pumping gas, waiting in line, etc. I used to be shy ... I think that came from a terrible lack of self esteem when I was growing up due to a situation not too different from NoGluGirl's. Once I got away, my whole personality changed. It was a conscious effort to come out of my shell, but once I did, they haven't been able to shut me up yet! LOL

NGG, things will get better. YOU will have to change your situation. That's what I did. It's hard to do when you feel like garbage, but you will figure out a way, I'm sure. Andrea's right, you need a positive attitude, negative won't help anything. You need a job so you have your own money and maybe some health insurance. Starbucks has benefits for part-timers.

Why didn't I know you were in Evansville???? We used to live in Spencer, outside Bloomington, now we're near Cincy. Louisville is only a couple hours from here, Indy is two hours as well. I know you're farther than that.

Dear Carla,

Yep, we are down here in The River City! ;) You are lucky going to Indy was not as long from where you are. We take three to four hours to get to Indy. I really have no desire to go there again, considering that is where that hospital nearly killed me! Cincy is a nice place, I hear.

I thought it was so funny what you said about being talkative. I am just like that! I will talk to anyone anywhere! I wish I was more like that in high school. I was so backward when I was younger. I always worried about what people thought of me. People do not even recognize me now!

I do not mind though. I prefer it that way. I am not the same person now.

My trouble with the work situation is, I would have to take the Promethazine to make it. I get so drowsy, I practically pass out from it. I do not tolerate Reglan or a lot of other meds. Trying something new is too scary. My system is not doing well. I did really great the first couple of months, and now the problems are returning. I am really frustrated. I don't know if it is the Candida or what causing this misery. Thank you for the encouragement. I need it.

Dear Andrea,

Thank you for the nice words! I appreciate them! If things were not all screwed up, it would be easier to deal with. If my health was good, I could have everything! People have no idea what they have lost until they have bad health. I am so tired of hearing rich people whine. What I hate is hearing people say "Money cannot buy happiness." Maybe not, but it sure can help make the misery a lot easier to take! Plus, you can tell these people have never gone without insurance, had to go on a special diet that costs a ton, and not be able to finish school because you do not have the money despite being so close to the degree you work so hard for! These people's idea of roughing it was staying at the Waldorf Astoria!

As far as my mother's brain goes, it is all those pills she takes screwing up her brain. That is if she even has one left! Pills do not fix anything! They are just adding to the trouble. Look at what happened to poor Anna Nicole! :(

I meant to ask about your horses. Did they sell? I know you needed the money for medical stuff, too. I hope you did not end up paying a bunch of fees for nothing. I could not sell what I tried to put on E-Bay before.

Ok...so I think I didnt explain very good....or I dont have it right myself (wouldnt be the first time  ) .

My interpretation is this.

BioSET is looking for an immunologocial response showing that the immune system has become sensitized to something....and is now reactive to it...this is not the same as your body "fighting" an infection with antibodies.

We definately wouldnt want to make the immune system stop fighting an infection. :o

They are desensitizing "allergic" type reactions....the immune system can become sensitized to just about anything and start reacting to its presence in the body....but thats a different type of reaction than the immune system producing specific antibodies to fight an infection.

So...your immune system could be fighting Lyme...it could be producing antibodies and that is what would be seen in the bloodwork...the Western Blots. Your immune system is obviously not "sensitive" to Lyme though...its not giving you "allergic" type reactions from the Lymes presence.

Now take Bumble Bars for example....thats something that your immune system is surely sensitized to :P ....its giving you an immunological response showing that your sensitive to that food...right?? I'm sure if you brought a Bumble Bar and got tested for it....you would react.

But its good that you are not "sensitive" to Lyme...because that kind of response creates constant imflammation....like what I've got going on....because my immune system is sensitive to everything and that uses up its energy for being more productive towards fighting the infections.

Because of my immune system being sensitized to so many of the Lyme vials...it was a good indicator that the bacteria was probably in my body and my immune sytem had become sort of "allergic" to it.....like with the chemicals, the foods, and everything else.

BioSET tries to desensitize all of those types of reactions.

The tests that Dr. Rick and Anna did are lab tests. In those tests (blood and saliva)....they are usually looking for antibodies....but the stool test was probably looking for antigens. Antibodies and antigens....are not the same thing.

An antibody or immunoglobulin is a large Y-shaped protein used by the immune system to identify and neutralize foreign objects like bacteria and viruses. The antibody recognizes a specific target, which is called an antigen

An antigen is a molecule that stimulates an immune response.

So the "antigen" is whatever is in the body which is triggering some type of response from the immune system. It could be triggering an "allergic" response...or it could be a response specific for fighting off infection....this would be production of IgM or IgG antibodies...which are both tested for in the Western Blots.

So basically you dont know yet wether or not your immune system is fighting Lyme or not....because you havent had any IgG or IgM bloodwork done yet.

You do know that your immune system is not sensitized to Lyme.

Its two different types of immune responses...if Lyme is there....you want your immune system to be producing antibodies against it and fighting it....afterall it is an infection.

You do not want your immune system to be sensitized to the Lyme....or to the Bumble Bars, or to the chocolate, or to the cheese, or to the pumpkin pie, or to the air, etc, etc. Those reactions are pretty useless and basically make our lives miserable. :(

Here is definitions of the blood and stool tests for H.Pylori

Blood antibody test. A blood test checks to see whether your body has made antibodies to H. pylori bacteria. If you have antibodies to H. pylori in your blood, it means you either are currently infected or have been infected in the past.

Stool antigen test. A stool antigen test checks to see if substances that trigger the immune system to fight an H. pylori infection (H. pyloriantigens) are present in your feces (stool). Stool antigen testing may be done to help support a diagnosis of H. pylori infection or to determine whether treatment for an H. pylori infection has been successful.

So in blood they are looking for signs that your immune system is fighting the bacteria...whereas in the stool test...they are looking for signs of the bacteria itself.

In your Western Blots they will look for signs that your immune system is fighting Lyme (antibodies).

They do have a urine test available that looks for antigens. (pieces of the Lyme bacteria itself). I have the kit but dont know if I'll ever actually do the test...probably not. The rate for false negatives is really high.

BioSET itself cant identify actual antigens or antibodies that may be present in the body. If you're very sensitive to a particular "substance"...the way I was sensitive to all these Lyme and co-infection vials...its definately a "sign" that shouldnt be ignored. It warrants furthur testing.

I dont think ART has much to do with immune response. I think its more to do with the autonomic nervous system (ANS)....the system which is actually regulates everything in your body.

The ANS regulates breathing, heart rate, digestion, immune function, sleep patterns, and hormone regulation. It also controls blood pressure, blood sugar levels, tissue regeneration, and liver and kidney detoxification.

ART looks for things that are "blocking" the ANS....basically disrupting the function of the autonomic nervous system and causing the body to not be working right...which obviously leads to the health problems.

I still dont know the "scientificness"....but I do place value on the results of this test.

I'm not sure if this makes better sense but my mind is slightly improved today. :)

Yeah....its most likely private....I've never even seen it there.

I would wear a bathing suit or something....I definately dont want to be inside the sauna and having my clothes getting all stuck to me...EEEK.

I'll have to try it out and see how I like it. ;)

Same thing with movies!

This is true...I can totally re-watch movies and enjoy it almost like the first time I saw it. :P

Hugs.

NGG.....I agree with everything Andrea and Carla said. :)

She said he does LED....told me to look it up if I wasnt familair with it. She's fully recovered but said she wished LED was around when she was getting treated....she would have done it.

I looked it up...its a fairly new type of detoxification treatment developed by Dr. Cowden.

LED = Laser Energetic Detoxification

It sounds really promising for me. For one thing the first LED treatment is for sulfur....to detox sulfur from the body so that furthur detox can be successful. I think this might be useful for me since I seem to have problems with excess sulfur.

Something like this can save me alot of time if it works for me. It can also get me to a better place where I'm able to also be able to handle chelating agents such as DMSA or DMPS.

Its totally non-invasive so it wouldnt hurt for me to try something like this.

Heres some links explaining what it is and how it works...

Open Original Shared Link (check out the success stories on the righthand side of this page)

Open Original Shared Link

So anyways...since I'm doing alternative stuff I can pretty much incorporate other things into my treatment. None of it can hurt...everyone has something different (and useful) to add to my treatment plan.

Tonight I asked Denise at BioSET if she was familair with LED. She said she'd heard of it and that it can detox lots of different things...not just heavy metals....which is basically what it says on the websites as well. She said she's not familiar with Dr. Cowden but definately has heard of LED.

She said if she were me she'd give anything a try.....plus I'm really determined. :P

I still need to find out alot more...and I plan on asking Anna, Dr. S, and Amy what they know about it.

The person who told me about LED also told me that Dr. Amy will be doing LED eventually too...I dont know if shes in the process of getting trained for it or plans on it sometime soon. Anyways...it would be great if she does start doing it since I'm already seeing her. :)

I still gotta find out things like cost too...I got alot of stuff I need to find out about LED before I make a definate decision....but so far I'm all for it! :D

If anyone has time to read the links...let me know what you think. B)

I read the first link (the comprehensive naturopathy site)...

first, I have to say I'm not that informed on exactly what homeopathy entails.. I want to learn more about it when I get a chance as the more I learn about it, the more I realize I don't know much about it..

as for this specific treatment, it seems rather abstract to me, but then again, I only read a 10 paragraph summary or whatever that site had... I didn't really get what the concrete difference was between the RIR treatment and LED treatment... they both seem to be laser light treatments, and I didn't see much of an explanation as to why the RIR treatment would illicit a different reaction and what are the differences in the treatments themselves aside from perhaps a different color or type of light used..

it also doesn't say what type of diagnostic kinesiology is used... I guess maybe they could just use your bioset or art results though I assume they have a type of kinesiology they practice... I'd check on the details behind their diagnostic testing as well...

I would also to like know more about how a substance inside your body that your immune system sees as foreign/dangerous for whatever reason is negated through this LED treatment... for example, say a person has mercury toxicity... the website states that "mercury is taken up by most parasites and certain other microbes in the body"... as it is my understanding, mercury does not strictly bind to parasites and microbes... it goes on to state that "when these microbes are killed, the mercury dumps back into the body and may need to be treated again"... first off, I guess the LED treatment is killing microbes, at least in this instance, but I'd like to know more about how this specifically works... and what happens to any mercury that is in connective tissue, body organs, or bound to anything besides parasites/microbes?

and how exactly is the mercury treated when it is freed from the microbes? the site seems to imply that mercury is simply treated with a 3-5 minute LED treatment, and mercury is no longer an issue in most cases... this seems odd to me... is the mercury still in the body and just no longer dangerous to a person? I'd have a hard time seeing this to be the case... is the mercury somehow removed from the body from this 5 minute LED treatment? I'd be even more surprised if this was the case... overall, I can't really get a grasp on how the mercury is treated and no longer hazardous to the health of the patient...

in regards to the testimonials on the side: I would personally prefer to see testimonials written by the actual patients/parents of patients as opposed to a listing like this of different patient experiences from the perspective of the practice or whoever wrote this... also, the testimonials are using words like "essentially normal" and "essentially well" to describe the patients.. I'd like to know more as to how far the patients have recovered... for the case of the autistic kid who is now "essentially normal", is he now neurotypical or still on the autism spectrum?

I might check out the second link later and it might have answers to some of my questions above... also, assuming the doctor is close enough to you, you could check to see if they do free consultations

Nothing new or too exciting to report about BioSET today. I got Denise which was just perfect because we got to talk more about the ART/BioSET/Lyme thing. My session today was to retest/treat the Krebs cycle because I had an outright reaction last week. Rachel, here's a new one for you...I reacted to oxygen! Anyway, Denise mentioned a couple of times on how bad my krebs cycle is. :( She also was very encouraging and motivational, making me feel a lot easier about the possibility of lyme. She also gave me some suggestions on some of the supplements I'm taking at night to help me sleep.

Carla, she said exactly what you said...the lyme could be hiding. My immune system is busy now trying to deal with the mercury and candida and infections. She said it's quite possible that as they treat and clear all these things...even the foods...that down the line the lyme will then be able to come out of hiding and will be picked up by BioSET. She gave me an example of one lady who tested four years ago and lyme was not found, but it was found recently. She also said that they just did the basic testing on me and that there are other, deeper layers and ways they can test. I don't know if they'll do that with me or not.

I am so tired of working so hard for nothing. No matter what I do, I never get anything but grief and exhaustion for it. That has been the story of my life. Normally, I am an optimist to a fault. Anymore, everything just feels hopeless. I wonder why I even bother. :(

I firmly believe there is always hope, it's just that we can't see it sometimes. I'm so sorry things are so tough for you!

I'M TOO SEXY FOR MY FARTS, TOO SEXY FOR MY FARTS, SO SEXY, YEAH!

 Okay, now that will be playing in my head for a while.

Thanks Rinne. :)

Today it is pouring rain.

So much for working up a sweat in the yard.

Donna...I meant to comment a couple weeks back when you were talking about us having a slight "heatwave"???

Yeah...it was a little warmer...but not warm enough for me to abandon the turtlenecks! :P

Yes, I was actually a bit concerned driving home from BioSET because it was raining so hard you couldn't see the road easily. And about that heatwave...I wasn't shivering so it was a heatwave.:lol:

I'm slow, but I'm getting it.

Now take Bumble Bars for example....thats something that your immune system is surely sensitized to :P ....its giving you an immunological response showing that your sensitive to that food...right?? I'm sure if you brought a Bumble Bar and got tested for it....you would react.

No, no, don't take my Bumble Bars. I have some I can bring next time I'm tested.

This is clearer to me today, lol. I'm going to cut and paste this to a document so I can save it, lol.

I never buy any nuts from a facility that processes wheat.  It’s not worth the risk.  Surprisingly, Trader Joe’s nuts do not come a factory that processes wheat, and I do not react to them.  I am sensitive to gluten.

If all testing is now completed you may want to let your doctor know that you are starting a gluten-free diet. If you symptoms go away on the diet it is further confirmation that you may have celiac disease, and/or non-celiac gluten sensitivity.  Approximately 10x more people have non-celiac gluten sensitivity than have celiac disease, but there isn’t yet a test for NCGS. If your symptoms go away on a gluten-free diet it would likely signal NCGS.

As long as the B Comlex is gluten-free, it should be helpful to you, especially since you're recently diagnosed and your villi are in the recovery process. You may need to look at further supplements as well, and it's a good idea for your doctor to check levels for many nutrients to see what deficiencies you might have. The most common nutrient deficiencies associated with celiac disease that may lead to testing for the condition include iron, vitamin D, folate (vitamin B9), vitamin B12, calcium, zinc, and magnesium.  Unfortunately many doctors, including my own doctor at the time, don't do extensive follow up testing for a broad range of nutrient deficiencies, nor recommend that those just diagnosed with celiac disease take a broad spectrum vitamin/mineral supplement, which would greatly benefit most, if not all, newly diagnosed celiacs.
    • Scott Adams
How long ago were you diagnosed? There are many symptoms and issues for those who are newly diagnosed, and recovery can take a while. This study indicates that a majority of celiacs don't recover until 5 years after diagnosis and starting a gluten-free diet: Mucosal recovery and mortality in adults with celiac disease after treatment with a gluten-free diet However, it's also possible that what the study really shows is the difficulty in maintaining a 100% gluten-free diet. I suspect that if you looked closely at the diets of those who did not recover within 2 years might be that their diets were not 100% gluten-free. Perhaps they ate out more often, or didn't understand all of the hidden ingredients where gluten can hide. Either way, it shows how difficult recovery from celiac disease can be for most people. According to this study: This article explores other causes of flattened villi:

As I mentioned before I’m pretty new to this. I’m about a month into being completely gluten-free. But I’m still having issues with fatigue, loss of appetite, and gas pain. I’ve started taking the B complex, and was hopeful, but that would help me get past especially the fatigue and the loss of appetite. But now I just read a more recent post where somebody is saying that the B complex is not necessarily good for us?  I was very comfortable with the B complex because our bodies shed excess B vitamins. But now I just looked it up and B vitamins can cause gas and bloating.  As I mentioned, that’s one of my biggest symptoms, and I also think it’s directly connected to my loss of appetite, which, of course is connected to my fatigue.  I’m so confused I don’t really know what to do now?
