Rinne,

I'll look forward to an update on Thursday after your product's launch. I assume you'll be able to tell us what it is then too. :)

I'll tell you more now but I've been advised not to give away too much information, you never know who might be lurking in Rachelville, this is all too funny and at the same time somewhat strange to have to cultivate paranoia about "trade secrets".

It is a frozen dessert that resembles a Haagen Daas bar i.e. it is on a stick, it appears to have ice-cream in the centre, it tastes like ice cream, and it is dipped in chocolate and nuts. It is not only non-gluten but non-dairy as well. Forty or so people have tasted it and everyone thinks it is fabulous and with no modesty at all I will tell you that I think it is genius. Oh and it doesn't have soy or rice milk or guar gum or any grain derived product.

I would like to see it available in your grocery aisles but at this point it is small and local, I'm looking at the possibility of licensing it to a large producer with the capacity to do that but first things first and the first thing is to get access to a kitchen and start selling them.

Tomorrow the product is being launched, so to speak, at a public event. I'll let you know what happens.

The thing I need is a name, ideas?

I did have a real brownie though!! Gluten and all.

:ph34r::o:unsure:

I happen to think that is a nice picture and that your natural hair color suits you.

Me too.

..... because I am as Toxic as Britney Spears song and I am so tired I can't work like this. Rachel how did you get your disability? I need temperary or something. I hope after dextoxing My bladder will start feeling better also. That part kind of worries me. anyway just came in today to grumble and whine.

Bye everyone,

lisa

Brilliant toxic reference, sorry to hear you're feeling wretched, whine away anytime at all.

Ummm....I dont know what it *looks* like exactly. I imagine its invisible. Its like an invisible poison that just gets into your tissue, cells, organs, etc. You cant see it but its doing plenty of damage.

Think of your body like a machine...with all the equipment inside working just right to keep you healthy. You've got enzymes for this and that....for digesting each chemical in everything you consume...breaking down toxins, etc.

Theres like a million different things going on inside...stuff that you've never had to think about ...everything just works perfectly....like in a factory.....it just all comes together.

Then along comes mercury. It gradually starts finding its way into the various areas of your body and over time it starts accumulating quite a bit...especially if you are a slow detoxer/excreter. You might not notice anything while all of this is taking place....little changes in your body...or autoimmune disease, etc. Nothing to make you think of mercury.

So now theres this poison getting all into your machine...and its killing some cells...disabling some of those critical enzymes....messing up the whole system.

The whole body works together...its all one machine and if certain parts arent working right....the whole thing sort of starts to malfunction. One thing leads to another and everything becomes impaired...it turns into a chain reaction.

All of a sudden your hormones are out of whack....your memory is no good....you're reacting to foods and chemicals...body parts start to hurt, etc.

Alot of this is caused by infections such as candida. The bacteria, fungi, parasites, etc...dont stand a chance when the "machine" is working properly. Once everything starts breaking down and becoming Toxic like the Britney Spears song (I loved that! )....all these critters start to invade all of those toxic areas of the body. Thats the environment that they thrive in.

Mercury also impairs temperature regulation...so we cant get warm very easily. This is prefect for the "bugs"...they like a toxic and cold environment.

For some reason mercury tends to accumulate in the kidneys especially. Once the mercury starts interfering with how the body naturally detoxifies itself...all sorts of *other* pollutants that we eat, drink or breathe...also get trapped in our body...cuz the whole machine is basically shutting down. Things are going haywire in there.

Our immune system is trying to get things back in working order....its constantly trying....but it cant do much since the liver and other organs arent detoxing all of these chemicals...and all these foods arent getting digested. Things usually come in and go out...but NOW...all of these things (both good and bad) are staying in our bodies way too long.

The immune system is trying to fight *everything*.....all of these things that are not suppossed to be lingering around....sort of like a house party that gets out of hand. You're trying to kick everyone out but the crowd is growing faster than you can handle...so you just get overwhelmed. :(

Once the machine broke and the insides got filthy with toxins and bugs started coming in....theres a million things going wrong....its alot to deal with but it was the mercury that started everything. So thats where we start the "clean up".

We have to get all that mercury out and eventually the machine wont be so toxic anymore...and there will be nowhere for those bugs to thrive...and the party will start to die down...and the machine will slowly start working the way it used to....it will start working to keep us healthy again. :)

I thought was an incredible summation, well done Rachel. :)

I just noticed the Gluen Busters T-shirts on the top of the page!! I love it!!!

Check em out.

Rinne - that is so exciting!!!! Can't wait to hear more. Sorry I can't help with the name...I'm really bad at naming stuff. It sounds heavenly though!

You didn't miss much, Nikki!

I took it down as soon as I could--I looked like Loretta Lynn :o I love her to death, but......

I didn't go to the prom with Mark--I met him about 2 months after it. We were engaged on Halloween and married the following April. He and I graduated from the same high school, but he's 4 years older than I, so I never met him until a chance meeting that summer.

Isn't it great how things worked out. :)

Love your new pic too. All girls in your family?

You also won't see ANY of my school pictures up...in fact I think I've destroyed most of them, lol...in almost every one of them, my hair was stupid. My mom like to tease and spray my hair into all sorts of hairstyles popular in the 60s. My hair may be messy most of the time, but it's not stupid. What 5 year old has a bouffant hairdo.

My mom kept my hair pretty short. Anyone remember Dorothy Hamill? Nuff said. :)

Someone at work is in worse shape than you? :o Glad you have your own shared office though.

California doesn't strike me as being that cold but I would imagine having a heater that worked if needed would help. It seems you would need it in the winter. Don't know if that would help with the mold showing up on surfaces or not. I suppose that doesn't matter if it's in the walls though does it?

I'm not good with names either. Have to ask hubby if he has any ideas when he gets home tonight.

Rinne--

Hi :) It all sounds so exciting. I'll be anxious to hear more when the time is right.

Andrea--

Yep-- 3 girls. I'm the oldest and we're all 4 years apart.

I had a Dorothy Hammill, too! I was married by then, though. Gosh, I'm so much older than everyone

The other night I ran across a new episode of "Mystery Diagnosis" on the Discovery Health Channel.

The title was "Deadly Sore Throat", and the last story was about a man, Doug Posluszny, who had become very ill. Anyway, it turned out to be Lyme Disease. He found, through a friend, a specialist who after only about 2 minutes, knew what was wrong with him.

She (the doctor) seemed very knowledgable about Lyme--I can't remember her name, but they did mention it.

They will be repeating the episode on April 29 at 6PM.

I thought of all you guys and thought someone might be interested in catching it. :)

You're not that much older than the rest of us.....now stop it! :P

Don't forget you married young. If you got married spring of '75 then I was almost 9. We are only about 10 years apart.....that's not much in adult years. Big difference in child years though. ;)

That's true, as we get older, the gap dosen't seem so big at all.

I'd love to do a play oin "Haagen Dasz," like "Huggin' D's," but don't know if that's too close for comfort!

Dear Carla,

I had my hair cut in a short hairdo (like Jenna Elfman's on Dharma and Greg) years back, and saved my ponytail. So, I could go to the store and see which color is closest. I know I would need a professional. The good news is, Mom has a great one! She got her hair done in a style similar to how Doris Day wore hers, and frosted it. It looks great! Lisa is terrific!

If you think this shade looks harsh, you should have seen it when I dyed it black the first time. It was a blue/black. It was way more unnatural. I just wonder why people assume if you dye your hair black you are trying to be a punk. I am into some of the punky stuff. It is just that people always assume that. Then of course, they assume you are a devil worshipper or something. That is so absurd!

My mother could cut it in that style. Mom used to be a beautician. She had to quit due to her chemical sensitivities. Perhaps I could look like Jen if I got the highlights and lowlights? I don't know. I still desperately would need a tan. Any recommendations on products? I loved Toma's Tan Perfect, but I do not know if it is gluten-free.

I am so glad you have felt better! :) That stone massage sounds heavenly! I thought that would be nice! The chef there is going to be on the Food Network? That is so cool! Plus, Jen and Brit stayed there? How awesome can you get?

Sincerely,

NoGluGirl

The thing is, with highlights and lowlights based on your natural color it would be the effect of Jen's but for your particular hair color.

Jen and Brit stayed at the hotel that Adam's business associate owns. It's very private and expensive ... stars like to hide out there.

Our hotel is big, but it's nice, too. I had the massage here.

We had a great dinner last night at one of our hotel's restaurants. I've NEVER been taken care of so well in a restaurant! A vendor took us out ... we were all impressed by the service, just their normal service, but even he said that the way they took care of me was above and beyond normal good service. I hope his tip adequately reflected that, the waiter was VERY deserving!

CarlaB Enthusiast

Andrea, I read on Lymenet that they were going to air that show, thanks for telling us about it.

Funny thing is, I always had sore throat problems. I lost my voice every winter for a couple months from the time I was in middle school and even into college. No one ever thought anything of it ... <_< , not that anyone would have been able to find the cause.

I also had occasional problems with hoarseness as an adult.

I had a verbal final exam in Spanish in college, but had absolutely no voice ... I couldn't even whisper! I had never skipped that class and had an A going into the final, he could tell I wasn't faking, so I only had to attempt to answer a question or two. He didn't want to torture both of us! LOL And I definately could not have had a proper accent!

Well, Adam has a free day today, then there's a disco dinner dance tonight :P We need to find something to do. I might take him to Taliesin West ... I went there alone last time so he didn't get to see it. Or maybe a mall ... they took the Guess store out of our mall and put in their cheap version ... now I have nowhere to buy obscenely expensive jeans :o ... I need to find some jeans while I'm out of town! They're building a Nordstrom in that mall, but it'll be a couple years before it opens ... certainly can't wait till then to buy jeans! It really ticked me off ... I had JUST found jeans that always fit perfectly and they closed the dang store! <_<

AndreaB Contributor

Nice new pic Patti. :)

I've put one up of me in 1st grade. Should be easier to do a comparison with Talitha. I can put her up again if needed. I can scan both photos although hers would be smaller (or bigger) since I didn't order the 3 x 5 this time.

AndreaB Contributor

Donna,

I just remembered I hadn't looked your new photo. I like that one too. :)

For a limited period of time, you can view my dorked out picture of me when I was 12. The sad thing is that I still have that turtleneck and I still wear it! Wait 25 years, and everything comes back into style!

However, I will not part with my green haired avatar! Jin, do you have the link to that website where you change your hair color? I would so love to have green hair!

Jin, I like your picture too. Black hair? That sounds too goth on you, and I think goth isn't kool anymore. I like your natural hair color. Red highlights sound cool with it too. And a size 8 isn't fat girlfriend. I think it means normal.

I'm playing hookie at home today. After finding out that my experiment didn't work, I'm seriously bummed out. It will be on to the big guns next. I'm not too happy about what that will do to my body, but if it gets me pregnant, I can deal with it.

I did some BioSETing in my last appointment with Dr. F. I was resensitized to dairy, though mildly. Corn was not the problem, apparently, but I still think it made me sick. I have to find another medium for my kefir to ferment in, so I'm going to try coconut milk. Had another 3 BioSET vials added to the clearings for various things, organs and what not. I wonder when it ever ends? And apparently something had inflammed my intestines, though Dr. F couldn't really say what.

I don't think that's a dorked out picture. It's a nice picture. :)

So why do you want green hair instead of brown?

Thanks for the update on your bioset.

Hopefully the big guns will work for you.

Glad to know you are feeling "perky" and young men are defintely the most fun to flirt with, as a married woman flirting is all I do. Actually not so much lately, European men definitely know how to flirt and I haven't been around many of them for the last couple of years. :(

I like both your suggestions, I don't know that they would work :) but I like them, maybe the genius shortened to Genie Bars.

It is very difficult to find a new name, even when I thought I was making up names I would find them when I did a web search. Off to do some more searching.

Thanks to everyone for your support.

Rinne,

How about something like Heavenly Bar None. None being in reference to no gluten/dairy. I assume it has soy lecithin in it.

Stick to your guns if that's what makes you feel good about yourself. When you feel confident, that is what you transmit outward to the world.

Well said Patti...I totally agree. :)

Very sweet....obviously it was meant to be. :)

I got to see your beach pic when I came home from lunch (1971).....that was the year that I was born. Your new baby pic is soooo cute...those little curls....adorable. You look so tiny in that big chair!

I agree, your pic is not so dorky! Ha, I had purple hair once! Actually the color was called "eggplant", lol. And, actually it was a cellophane not a full dye, so it wasn't obviously purple until I went out in the sun. That was in my wild 30s back before I had the stupid gray.

Okay, I'm about to load one of my chubbet baby pictures, lol. Tomorrow I'll load me on Santa's lap....in all my baby pictures I look scared.:o

Hi CathiJean, Wipe those tears my friend.  Finding out that you have celiac just gave you the cheat code on how to start feeling better!  It may feel like a loss right now, but honestly within 6 months you will start feeling better.  Within a year you will look back and wonder how in the world did I survive feeling like that for what feels like a lifetime?  You mentioned 15 years, that's about how long I have been really ill as well.  I had told every doctor I saw that I kept getting sick, infections, hair loss, joint pain, etc. and nobody would listen to me until I turned 45.  I went in for a colonoscopy and the doc says how often do you have bowel movements and I said usually between 10-15 times a day.  Suddenly I had someone actually listen to me and the testing began.  What I can tell you is use this forum, talk to peers, read everything you can about how to gluten-free your kitchen, encourage your family to participate in your journey (trust me they love you enough to make the effort), how to order food in restaurants, and how to avoid cross contamination.  Accept that you will make mistakes and allow yourself grace as you implement your new normal and have a clear understanding that going gluten free will begin healing your body in ways that you will not even begin to understand until you actually do it.  So, have faith that the nutrient deficiencies that you are probably experiencing right now can be corrected and you are on a bright path to feeling SO much better.  Think about how incredible your mom journey is about to become as you begin to feel better!!  Your kids are going to be amazed at your energy levels, ability to play and go do stuff...you are leveling up knowing that you have Celiac.  Knowing gives you power my friend, harness it and have gratitude that it was discovered...even if the docs missed it - you know now and keep moving forward.  You got this!!
    • trents
If you have been eating the gluten equivalent of 4-6 slices of wheat bread daily for say, 4 weeks, I think a repeat blood test would be valid.
    • englishbunny
it did include Total Immunoglobin A which was 135, and said to be in normal range. when i did the blood test in January I would say I was on a "light' gluten diet, but def not gluten free.  I didn't have any clue about the celiac thing then.  Since then I have been eating a tonne of gluten for the purpose of the endoscopy....so I'm debating just getting my blood test redone right away to see if it has changed so I'm not waiting another month...
    • trents
Welcome to the forum, @englishbunny! Did your celiac panel include a test for "Total IGA"? That is a test for IGA deficiency. If you are IGA deficient, other IGA test resultls will likely be falsely low. Were you by any chance already practicing a reduced gluten free diet when the blood draw was done?
    • englishbunny
I'm upset & confused and really need help finding a new gastro who specializes in celiac in California.  Also will welcome any insights on my results. I tested with an isolated positive for deamidated IGA a few months ago (it was 124.3, all other values on celiac panel <1.0), I also have low ferritin and Hashimotos. Mild gastro symptoms which don't seem to get significantly worse with gluten but I can't really tell... my main issues being extreme fatigue and joint pain. The celiac panel was done by my endocrinologist to try and get to the bottom of my fatigue and I was shocked to have a positive result. Just got negative biposy result from endoscopy. Doctor only took two biopsies from small intestine (from an area that appeared red), and both are normal. Problem is his Physician's Assistant can't give me an answer whether I have celiac or not, or what possible reason I might have for having positive antibodies if I don't have it. She wants me to retest bloods in a month and says in the meantime to either "eat gluten or not, it's up to you, but your bloodwork won't be accurate if you don't" I asked if it could be I have early stage celiac so the damage is patchy and missed by only having two samples taken, and she said doctor would've seen damaged areas when performing endoscopy (?) and that it's a good sign if my whole intestine isn't damaged all over, so even if there is spotty damage I am fine.  This doesn't exactly seem satisfactory, and seems to be contrary to so much of the reading and research I have done. I haven't seen the doctor except at my endoscopy, and he was pretty arrogant and didn't take much time to talk. I can't see him or even talk to him for another month. I'm really confused about what I should do. I don't want to just "wait and see" if I have celiac and do real damage in the meantime. Because I know celiac is more that just 'not eating bread' and if I am going to make such a huge lifestyle adjustment I need an actual diagnosis. So in summary I want to find another doctor in CA, preferably Los Angeles but I don't care at this stage if they can do telehealth! I just need some real answers from someone who doesn't talk in riddles. So recommendations would be highly welcomed. I have Blue Shield CA insurance, loads of gastros in LA don’t take insurance at all 😣
