No problem, I know lots of times I don't comment on stuff because others have said what I would have said and said it so well, particularly Rachel and you. :P:lol: Then there is the reality that unless I use the quote function by the time I get to posting I have forgotten everything.

Me too.

don't have much time to post (and i sprained a finger yesterday, so typing hurts):

- hhv6a (the cfs linked virus)

- biopsy :(

she thinks i have babesia bc of my clinical presentation...and has all along, somehow i missed this :(. thats why i'm on the z. ill post more later about the next steps.

I'm sorry about the finger.....OUCH!

Biopsy results, is that from the paraffin blocks?

Can't wait until you feel better of get home and type one handed. It is possible....just takes longer.

I'm running late and haven't caught up on everything yet.

Hugs and  for everyone.

I've got to get out the door.

Laura....geeez....a sprained finger. That sucks on top of everything else. :(

Hope it gets better soon.

Bummer about the biopsy....it would have been nice to have it show up....and a bonus to get to put in the face of all the previous Dr.'s. I was hoping you could get that satisfaction.

Oh well...in the end...when you get better...I'm pretty sure you'll be satisfied plenty. ;)

Is hhv6a different from hhv6??

My HHV6 was positive (IgG). My LLMD said it was past infection and didnt even really blink an eye over it. I read that most people get this in the first couple years of life.....but still....how does anyone know for sure the virus isnt active??

The lab results said it could be either past or present.

I keep forgeting to ask him about that.

I guess since it doesnt really show up in BioSET or my ART sessions...I havent really thought too much about it. I dont know where to go with this one. <_<

Windex really works well on carpet stains. It's amazing on cat-puke! Really, it works better than anything--including Capture (which is also very good) that I've tried.

Wont windex turn your carpet blue??

I use Folex...it works really good...and I have very light carpet....not white but close to it.

The best thing is that I just realized last weekend (when I was cleaning up cat puke  ) that its a cleaner which doesnt bother me at all!! :o I was using it before I got sick but most things I cant tolerate anymore. I checked out the label and its got no chemicals!! YAY! :D

Sorry about the babs ... I hate babs ... makes me want to use the 'f' word ... you know, f. babs, that's what it should be called! That should be its clinical name.

I'm totally gonna be thinking about that everytime I'm taking my Noni for the Babs.

I secind the almond butter and Trader Joe's has AMAZING sunflower butter!

Are you sure you didnt mean to say HEINOUS sunflower butter???

The sunflower butter gave me almost as bad a reaction as the peanut butter.

It was a horrible experience that I will never ever forget as long as I live.

I cant remember all that was in the ingredients but I do know there was extra stuff which could have made the situation worse for me. It wasnt just plain sunflower seed stuff. <_<

Although...I do react to mold on all seeds and nuts I've tried. A few weeks ago I ate a ton of sunflower seeds thinking that I'd finally found a brand that was ok. It wasnt the case....it just took a couple days to build up. :(

Anyways...I didnt much care for the Trader Joes sunflower butter the one time I tried it.

Do you think Windex will work on dog pee?

I dont think theres a product out there that really works on dog or cat pee. <_<

And, no the Windex does not turn the carpet blue. Windex will even get red Kool Aide out of the white bedspread in Grandma's guest room ... the real puzzle is, what was the red Kool Aide doing in Grandma's guest room?

jerseyangel Proficient

Rachel--Nope--it dosen't turn the carpet blue. Mine is off-white.

Jin--It may take out the stain, depending on how old the spot is, but you'd need something else for the odor.

Well I'm back.

Had my ears taken care of again....it's only been 2 months. The doctor said I was a month early. Anyway, he mentioned me needing to use the meds, the strong one being lotrisone. I hate using the stuff because the eczema and itching always come back so I figure what's the point. Also, it hasn't been tested with breastfeeding.

He mentioned that I have a chronic problem with my ears and then in the same converstion mentioned that I had yeast/candida in my ears. I didn't know candida could be there.

I didn't have the candida test with my intolerance test last year so I don't know how that would have turned out. With thinking metals are a problem I guess it shouldn't surprise me if I do have a situation with candida.

Ok, so the next question. The anti-candida diet. Isn't that meats, veggies, very little fruit, very little grains. What in the world do you eat!!!!!:unsure::blink: As if I don't have a problem figuring out what to eat now. We have lots of rice products between the pasta, wraps, bread and rice itself.

Also, should I take chlorella and see if I can get used to it before I try the candida diet in case I notice any die off? I certainly don't want any mercury running around if candida is grabbing it. I had just told Mitch last night that I thought the mercury was behind my ezcema, my ears being the worst. I still have a patch on my eyelid and others pop up on my legs once in awhile. Then I have that itchy spot on my back that never goes away.

AndreaB Contributor

You'd probably have to build up on these (if you can handle them), but Vitamin C and Magnesium are supposed to be good. I think flax oil was on that list my doctor gave me for my husband as well.

jerseyangel Proficient

Andrea,

Sorrry about your ears :(

You'll probably get much better advice, but I had itching deep inside my right ear and eczema on my left eyelid for years. Probably the better part of 15 years.

I only had access to conventional doctors, and tried everything from antihistimines to steroid creams, to you name it. The eczema was, for me, the worst. It was itchy and unsightly and I couldn't figure out how to get rid of it for good. Steroid creams would only help temporarily.

Anyway, when I eliminated gluten, and then the other foods I'm intolerant to, the eczema just went away--and has never come back. I almost can't believe sometimes that it's really gone. The same with the itch in my ear--which was so incredibly annoying.

I know you already eat very carefully--I'm wondering if there could be anything you're still eating that could be triggering it.

I was keeping a running "diary" and it was very shortly after eliminating all legumes that the eczema dissapeared.

Just food for thought :)

andrea I have a problem with my ears. THey pop when I chew food or sometimes I lose my hearing in one ear. THey are always ringing. Thanks for the advice on laxatives. I will just stick with milk of magnesia. Flax doesn't work. vitamin c causes pain in bladder ulcers. By the way how do people know when they are intolerant to something? Oh Carla should I take the charcoal everyday. You said to take it away from things? What exactly does that mean. I think I have parasites. I don't go poo very much and I eat a lot of veggies and lots of chicken but no poop. Does candida also eat up your food? I always feel hungry right after I eat . My stomach has an ulcer I think from a year of worry. :(

tabasco32 Apprentice

oh Carla

The dentist gave me vitamin c pack. lypo spheric vitaimin c. It says 12% alchohal by weight. I took it. It didn't bother my bladder but I think It gave me diarrhea real bad and bubbly guts. IT is 3,000 mg essential phospholipids 1,000 mg vitamin c. Do you think it was the alchohal or just the vitamin c alone?

I know you already eat very carefully--I'm wondering if there could be anything you're still eating that could be triggering it.

I didn't realize you had problems with eczema also. I was hoping my eczema would go away being gluten/dairy/legume free. :(

I'm thinking the mercury could be behind it, but I'm aware allergy/intolerances are behing it as well.

I tested barely intolerant to many vegetables, which I'm still eating, although I did cut them out for a few weeks. I didn't have a spice panel done so don't know if something along those lines is bothering me. I don't have noticeable symtpoms so it makes it hard to figure out.....of course, maybe my ezcema is a noticeable symptom. :P

So is it possible to do a candida/elimination diet? I also have Seth to think about and I wonder if it would be wise to do anything before amalgam removal if the mercury is behind the ezcema to begin with.

AndreaB Contributor
Is this a true story?

Yes it is. We were all quite amused by it. Celia was a funny one that's for sure.

CarlaB Enthusiast

Lisa, vitamin C gives me diarrhea, too. I can only take a little of it.

Take the charcoal by itself at least two hours away from any other medicine or supplement.

I used to get a rash on my scalp, I don't know whether it was eczema or not, but it went away when I went on antibiotics for Lyme.

Andrea, I'm thinking the ears are pretty close to the teeth! I can see how the candida would bind with the mercury there. I hope you can get those fillings out soon.

When I went on the anti-candida diet I was very strict. I thought my joint pain was from candida (it was from Lyme). I ate eggs with veggies, meat with veggies, and I got half-n-half in my lattes to avoid the sugar in milk. I was VERY strict. I ate oatmeal about twice per week because I feel bad if I get no starchy carbs (this was before I was gluten-free). The interesting thing is, the joint pain went away! Must have been because it was also starving the borrelia. The other odd this is that I gained 10 pounds on the diet everyone else was losing weight on!

I took a lot of probiotics. I used a lot of coconut oil I also took some Candida Cleanse.

Once in a while I would break down and have a brownie at Starbucks, then the next day my knee would hurt so bad I could hardly walk! That made it really easy to stay on the diet. I initially thought that was because the sugar fed the candida. Then when I went gluten-free I thought it was from the wheat in the brownine. Now, I'm not sure, maybe it was just the Lyme feasting on all the sugar.

AndreaB Contributor

My appointment is the end of August for the consult. Removal will be after that.

Does lyme like sugar too!?

I'm slightly intolerant and allergic to dairy (midline low) so I don't know if I would want to do that again. Besides.....I'd prefer the ice cream....like Rachel.

Probiotics I want to stay away from for now because of the methyl mercury....was that it Rachel? I forget which mercury but it makes a lot of it. I don't think I copied that over.

I have a monster appetite and might starve on the candida diet without my rice for a filler. Of course, I could stand to lose up to 20 pounds.

Is jamine rice o.k. to eat on the candida diet. I need fiber, fiber, fiber. Sometimes when I eat red potatoes I get sleepy right away and shakey. I wonder if it's a blood sugar thing. Rachel can you stand being around salty things like chips and seeds. If I am around them I taste the salt. I wonder if it's because I don't eat any salt right now. anyone know of a good laxative. I have parylysis of my colon I think to the mercury or candida. i take mom's milk of magnesia but I want to wean myself off of it. stimulants cause to much pain.

I had a lifetime of constipation that went away once I stopped eating gluten, dairy, grains and nightshades. Also chlorella is supposed to help with regular bowel movements and I have been taking it.

I didn't know that about candida either, a friend with Lyme suffers from itchy ears and she says alot of people on Lyme boards do too. I wonder if she has candida. ;)

I eat meat, vegies, fish, very little fruit and rinne bars.:lol:

I just read the spinach story:) Come on guys I told you my sides already hurt. I can't laugh but I did and my sides hurt more.

Word for word, I just wish Celia would drop by for a visit and tell it in her own way. :) Better to hurt from laughing though, don't you think? :)

I'm so sorry you are going through such a difficult time, each of us has our own version but we all know how very hard it is to feel alone and afraid and in too much pain.

So another story.

I go for an infra-red sauna and about half way through, naked with a tiny towel I realize that I have forgotten my water bottle and decide that I need to get it. The door has this slider handle and I take it and slide it but it won't open, I pull harder and it still won't open. I stop and think, never having been to a sauna before 'maybe it's timed, like you have to stay in for the full session' and I think NO that can't be. Did I mention that I was already sweating? I try again, no success. I'm wondering if I am going to have to start pounding on the wall? What if they forget me? Will I be found? Then I reach down and push on the door and it opens.:ph34r::lol:

Rachel, I keep meaning to tell you how much I like your current picture. :)

Lisa- You are not our toxic friend- you arre a part of the Sister/Brotherhood of the Traveling Toxicities! Jasmine rice, I believe, is no better than any white rice. If you need fiber, go for brown rice.

Vitamin C and magnesium help me too...but you have to go slow. If you take too much, you'll feel hideous. I am the self-procliamed QUEEN of constipation and the Lyme doc I just started seeing put me on a strong probiotic called Theralac. It makes me go (like 2 times a day!). Except right now because I drank 5 cups of barium Wed. The sign in the Xray room said "Do not dump barium down the sink as it will clog the pipes" Oh great- feed it to humans!

Andrea- I have hideous eczema in my ears....it went away when I first went gluten-free and used to only flare when I got glutened, but since this "episode" has turned into something else, it has become chronic again. It cracks and bleeds and HURTS. One thing that has helped is putting Aquaphor on it just before bed.

I'm feeling pretty bummed right now :( It's been awhile since I've had a good day. I feel like as time goes on I'm getting more and more fatigued, brain dead, and in pain. I really just want someone to say "Yes- this is it. You have Lyme and you WILL feel better!"

I need a hug

Sometimes when I eat red potatoes I get sleepy right away and shakey.

Potatoes turn straight to sugar and are supposed to be avoided on anti-candida diet. I still eat some but its better to eat it with some protein. Eat it with some meat and see if it makes a difference. Dont eat rice or potatoes (or any high starchy food which will rapidly turn to sugar) on an empty stomach...eat it with protein.

Its better not to eat these foods when you have candida but you DO have to eat so if you can eat some and not feel bad....I wouldnt worry too much right now.

Rachel can you stand being around salty things like chips and seeds. If I am around them I taste the salt. I wonder if it's because I don't eat any salt right now.

Do you get bad reactions from salt...is that why you're avoiding it?? I dont really eat any salt either but I dont taste salt when I'm around salty foods. Thats never happened to me.

Do you think maybe your body needs some salt?? If it doesnt cause you any problems I dont think you need to totally avoid it...but use a good salt...like sea salt....not table salt.

No poop for 2 days and none it feels like in my intestines. people I am starting to worry. Should I worry sssooo much.

Its hard not to worry but it also makes things alot worse when we get overwhelmed with worry and fear. I went almost 2 weeks without a bowel movement last year!! It was after I ate a block of cheese.

I've definately went longer than 2 days without a bm....many many many times. Actually....all through my teenage years and most of my 20's I thought it was normal to only go every few days.

Hmmmm.....no wonder I'm sooooo toxic.

I think I've always had a problem with constipation...but I just never knew it was a problem. :(

Now....if that were to happen to me I'd probably do an enema or epsom salts...or something to get things moving.

After I ate the cheese and didnt go for 2 weeks I also had a colonoscopy scheduled. I still couldnt go even after drinking all the prep stuff.

I was crying and not knowing what to do because my colonoscopy was the next day.....I ended up doing a couple enemas and that finally worked.

When I had a CT scan the GI said I had lots of impacted stool...that my digestion was really slow. You might be having the same type problem.

Rachel--24 Collaborator

ROFL..

Rinne...I love that story!! :lol::lol:

I realized something awhile back...I used to bring my water in the sauna with me too. I think this was a big mistake and could have been part of why I would feel bad after the saunas sometimes. The PLASTIC.

If the chemicals leech into the water in a hot car...I'm pretty sure they would poison the water in a hot sauna. :o

Never again...ever since I thought of that I've left my water outside the sauna. Luckily I know how to use the door so when I get thirsty I can get out.:P

Rachel, I keep meaning to tell you how much I like your current picture. :)

Thanks Rinne. That pic kind of makes me sad thinking of the better days...when I was healthy...and I was falling in love. :(

Even though it was a gorgeous sunny day....it was actually 6 days before Xmas. Thats when I had my first official date with my ex. We went Xmas shopping in SF...had lunch, rode the trolley, looked anywhere and everywhere for mistletoe (hehe), and when it got dark we sat and looked at all the lights and decorations. So yeah...the day that pic was taken ended up being our anniversary. :(

Welcome to the forum, @Kiwifruit, I agree further testing is needed.  Disaccharidase deficiency is a symptom of Celiac disease.   On your test results, this line  "IgA: 0.9 g/l (norm 0.8 - 4.0)" is referring to Total IgA and it's very low.  People with low or deficient Total IgA should also have DGP IgG test done.  Low Total IgA means you are making low levels of tTg  IgA as well, leading to false negatives or "weak positives".  Maybe a DNA test for known Celiac genes.   Anemia, diabetes, and thiamine deficiency can cause test results like these.  Get checked for B12 deficiency anemia and have your iron (ferritin) checked.  Vitamin D deficiency is common, too.   Might be time to find a gastrointestinal doctor who is more familiar with diagnosing Celiac Disease.   Best wishes on your journey!  Please keep us posted on your progress.
    • trents
Yes, there is a trend in the medical community to forego the endoscopy/biopsy and grant an official celiac diagnosis based on high tTG-IGA antibody scores alone. This trend started in the UK and is spreading to the USA medical community. And yes, 5-10x the normal level is what I have been seeing as the threshold as well. Here is the relevant section dealing from the article above dealing with the importance of the total IGA test being ordered. See the embedded attachment.
    • hmkr
Ok, interesting. Not what I was thinking that meant. I'm reading the article and trying to understand. I see this “According to the latest research, if the blood test results are at certain high levels that range between 5-10 times the reference range for a positive celiac disease diagnosis, it may not be necessary to confirm the results using an endoscopy/biopsy” My IgG is 90, which is 6 times. So to me that means it's highly likely I do have it.
    • trents
It just means you aren't IGA deficient, i.e., that IGA deficiency cannot have given you artificially low scores in the individual IGA celiac antibody tests. This is explained in the article Scott linked above.
    • hmkr
Normal range: 70 - 400 mg/dL, a little above middle of the range. So what does that mean? Thank you! I will check out that page you linked. Appreciate it!
