Lisa, no salt is bad for you. Everyone needs salt. Of course, it should be good quality sea salt not the garbage you find in most salt shakers! Salt is a macronutrient, it's just Americans eat so much junk food that most people get too much of it.

"In recent years there has been much publicity about the need to reduce salt consumption in societies where salt is added to many processed foods (Denton 1984, 584-7). It has tended to be forgotten that some salt intake is absolutely necessary; that people need salt, sodium chloride, to survive: The chemical requirements of the human body demand that the salt concentration in the blood be kept constant. If the body does not get enough salt, a hormonal mechanism compensates by reducing the excretion of salt in the urine and sweat. But it cannot reduce this output to zero. On a completely salt-free diet the body steadily loses small amounts of salt via the kidneys and sweat glands. It then attempts to adjust this by accelerating its secretion of water, so that the blood

Ditto....sending Bev lots of hugs!!:wub::wub:

I'm not you're Scorpio pal though....I'm a Gemini. :P

But Bev....I'm 99% sure you've got Lyme (and probably some other issues) and you WILL get better. :)

Me, too. You'll get better. Hugs.

Except right now because I drank 5 cups of barium Wed. The sign in the Xray room said "Do not dump barium down the sink as it will clog the pipes" Oh great- feed it to humans!

Why does this not surprise me. Sorry but...:lol:

Andrea- I have hideous eczema in my ears....it went away when I first went gluten-free and used to only flare when I got glutened, but since this "episode" has turned into something else, it has become chronic again. It cracks and bleeds and HURTS. One thing that has helped is putting Aquaphor on it just before bed.

I have something that I like better than aquaphor that I use once in awhile. I'm thinking of doing the hard medicine for the 10 days and then switching back to the lanolin based stuff.

I'm feeling pretty bummed right now :( It's been awhile since I've had a good day. I feel like as time goes on I'm getting more and more fatigued, brain dead, and in pain. I really just want someone to say "Yes- this is it. You have Lyme and you WILL feel better!"

I need a hug

Hugs, hugs, hugs, hugs and lots of

I think you have lyme and you WILL feel better. Keep looking ahead. :)

Andrea....about the ears. YES....big time candida in the ears and sinuses. This is where I feel it the most when I take my Nystatin....also when I eat the yogurt or other yeasty things. The yeast symptoms I get are primarily in my head....I get alot of fullness, pressure, and sometimes itching in my ears. Occasionally I get the popping and ringing that Lisa is talking about.

I take my Nystatin and sure enough it feels like my ears might burst. :o

Same thing when I was eating lots of garlic...OMG...that was HEINOUS...I thought for sure fire would burst out of my ears. It was really intesnse and it happened to me many times after taking lots of garlic.

I have alot of that going on right now since I'm hitting the nystatin pretty hard. When Dr. Carrie at HN looked in my ears, nose and all that she said my ears looked bad...alot of scar tissue or something.

I never had anything going on with my ears until I got sick and all this candida invaded my head.

I've had intense itching in my ears. I also have the same stuff going on in my nose and all the way into my sinuses. When I first got sick the worst area was right between my eyes and my forehead...it would tingle and burn and was visibly swollen there (well to me it was). Then it spread to all over my head and into my ears. :(

Candida loves the sinuses...and also like somebody else pointed out.....the mercury coming from our teeth is gonna bring the yeast to this area for sure.

I dont really have excema....except for sometimes when I eat the wrong stuff (like all that cheese  ) and I'll get it on my fingers. The only other place is in that spot on my forehead.....right between my eyes....I would get it there alot when I was really sick.

I get the ringing at times and popping. I have the seasonal allergies from May to July and I asked the doctor if that could make things worse. I don't know that he had an positive affirmative on that but he didn't say no. I never had seasonal allergies before my 20's so now I'm hoping that once I get this mercury and candida taken care of if they will disappear again. I hope so.

anyone know of a good laxative. I have parylysis of my colon I think to the mercury or candida. i take mom's milk of magnesia but I want to wean myself off of it. stimulants cause to much pain.

You can also try massaging the intestinal area...I do that sometimes.

Ok, so the next question. The anti-candida diet. Isn't that meats, veggies, very little fruit, very little grains. What in the world do you eat!!!!!:unsure::blink: As if I don't have a problem figuring out what to eat now. We have lots of rice products between the pasta, wraps, bread and rice itself.

Also, should I take chlorella and see if I can get used to it before I try the candida diet in case I notice any die off? I certainly don't want any mercury running around if candida is grabbing it. I had just told Mitch last night that I thought the mercury was behind my ezcema, my ears being the worst. I still have a patch on my eyelid and others pop up on my legs once in awhile. Then I have that itchy spot on my back that never goes away.

I think candida can live anywhere. :( I eat basically just meat and veggies, with a little bit of low sugar fruit here and there and nuts. I tested okay for almonds, cashews and walnuts at BioSET so I'm rotating those now. I had ezcema when I was young...my mom said wheat gave it to me, and there was some reason why I couldn't have regular formula so she gave me soy milk. :(

The dentist gave me vitamin c pack. lypo spheric vitaimin c. It says 12% alchohal by weight.

I deem this evil, lol!!! I bought the lypospheric C after the ART session I had...Scott said it tested well, so I tried it. OMGosh!!! Major bubble gut, terrible gas, noisy bowels...and that was just after 1 pack. I've been looking for something that I can take a lot of, but so far I can't find anything that tests well for me.

So is it possible to do a candida/elimination diet? I also have Seth to think about and I wonder if it would be wise to do anything before amalgam removal if the mercury is behind the ezcema to begin with.

Yep, it's possible...not easy but possible. This is exactly what I was doing after I tested at BioSET and found out all the "safe" foods on the elimination diet were causing me grief. I used what I found out at BioSET to start my base diet, and basically what is safe are meats and veggies...or, in other words, the candida diet. :P I've been trying to add in one at a time the other things that I tested okay for and mostly those are going okay.

The sign in the Xray room said "Do not dump barium down the sink as it will clog the pipes" Oh great- feed it to humans!

:o Yikes!

So another story.

I go for an infra-red sauna and about half way through, naked with a tiny towel I realize that I have forgotten my water bottle and decide that I need to get it. The door has this slider handle and I take it and slide it but it won't open, I pull harder and it still won't open. I stop and think, never having been to a sauna before 'maybe it's timed, like you have to stay in for the full session' and I think NO that can't be. Did I mention that I was already sweating? I try again, no success. I'm wondering if I am going to have to start pounding on the wall? What if they forget me? Will I be found? Then I reach down and push on the door and it opens.:ph34r::lol:

Rachel, I keep meaning to tell you how much I like your current picture. :)

OMG- that sounds like something that would happen to me!!!!!! Glad you escaped unscathed!

Rachel- That is a great picture and it sounds like it was taken on a wonderful day. You know, I truly believe you and SusieQ will find love. It's NEVER too late- sometimes it's there all along and you don't see it- I knew Kurt for 15 years before we got together. Thought he was SO annoying :P

Now I'm married to him.

Oh- the popping and pressure in your head- ears and sinuses. I have it right now and it's killing me! Blech!

Thank you all for the cyber hugs- I discriminate against NO astrological sign, religion or political alliance. I'll take a hug from you guiys anyway it comes!

I have sea salt but afraid to try. Comes from utah from volcanic ash or something. It has lots of minerals and I don't know if this is good right now for me. its redmonds sea salt gourmet all natural sea salt. Should I try it?

You need salt. A salt deficiency can cause major health problems! Try putting 1/4 tsp. in a quart of water ... use that for your drinking water. That could make you feel better than you have been.

miamia Rookie

oh god I have so much i want to say to everyone but I am having complete brain fog and exhaustion- thinking the diflucan might be the culprit.

I too have suffered from major constipation issues. I still deal with them a bit but now I really feel it if I don't go for one day- i think cause the candida causes so much bloating in my system if i don't get some release my belly gets really distended and I feel like a pregnant lady!!

I do stretching sometimes and if I really need to I take this stuff oxy powder- it messes with me a little but it does help me to go.

Rinne- you said so much in this post earlier that was so right one point about being ill for along time and not remembering how to be well- it really hit home. I can't believe sometimes when i read what all of you post how crazy it is that we all can relate to eachother so much. I feel so lucky to have found all of you!!!

Andrea -

sorry to hear you are having such a rough time with the candida and everything else. I know for my body I could never do the true anti candida diet it just made me feel terrible and veggees. Fruit and me don't get along very wel so I pretty much just avoid it all together except the little pear juice I drink but I dillute that with water.

So For all of you that take theralac- is it really that good?- I may have to look into that.

I have to post my review of the cranio sacral therapy- it was pretty interesting - but i am so exhausted.

When I had a CT scan the GI said I had lots of impacted stool...that my digestion was really slow. You might be having the same type problem.

Yup, sounds possible to me and definitely a problem I have had.

Does your skin break out? I had acne when I was in my twenties and I know now it was completely related to that.

......

Thanks Rinne. That pic kind of makes me sad thinking of the better days...when I was healthy...and I was falling in love. :(

Even though it was a gorgeous sunny day....it was actually 6 days before Xmas. Thats when I had my first official date with my ex. We went Xmas shopping in SF...had lunch, rode the trolley, looked anywhere and everywhere for mistletoe (hehe), and when it got dark we sat and looked at all the lights and decorations. So yeah...the day that pic was taken ended up being our anniversary. :(

It sounds like a wonderful day, I'm sorry it makes you feel so sad. :(

Salt, it was salt that brought me back to life last summer. Do you remember how I raved about salt? Good salt, and the Redmund salt is good, is essential to health. I prefer the Himalayan but either I believe have minerals in them that our bodies need.

Recently I heard a radio program about a man named Tom Cooper, I think <_< who taught at a university in Saskatchewan. He published a book that contained the government's own studies of the decline of nutrients in our food supply over the past thirty years, he was fired from his teaching position and the book was removed from the university bookstore.

Minerals are critical to our body's ability to use vitamins, increasingly our food supply is grown in soil depleted of minerals.

I think in a bizarre way we are starving to death.

Also the codex laws they are attempting to pass and have passed in some European countries basically give pharmaceutical companies utter control over what we may purchase. In the article I read it listed what will be controlled and distributed by pharmacies and salt and baking soda are included in that. Think about what that means. Further, the vitamins that are distributed through the pharmacies in countries currently controlled by codex are loaded with sugar and are minimally effective, probably not effective enough to counter the negative effects of the sugar in them.

Carla made a good suggestion, just a 1/4 teaspoon in your water for the day to start with, if you tolerate it you could increase it to 1/2 teaspoon. For about eight weeks I took 1/2 teaspoons in a large glass of water 4 times a day, that amount works to get rid of parasites and I did.

Klinghardt starts people off on 3 - 6 week cycles of salt to kill the parasites, and he says the salt has an independent action on the spirochetes, because once you are ill chances are you have parasites. I've read stats that suggest 20% of people in the America have them and don't know.

I notice I tend to do that, I took a lot of salt for a while and then my body just said enough, I guess what I am saying is trust yourself.

I remember you talking about salt. We use redmund too. Himilayan is too expensive for us.

Codex laws.... :o Why would they control stuff like salt?!?!?!?!:o

The vitamins we take are chewable so have lost of sweetener stuff in them.....not outright sugar though. I'm thinking I need to go back to the swallowable pills. Doesn't help the children though. <_<

Dear Andrea,

The Candida Diet is very strict. Vegetables, Meat, Eggs, Yogurt, Nuts (in the shell only and must be toasted) and seeds (toasted and frozen) are all that is allowed. I have not been able to do this due to my blood sugar being so low. It causes real difficulties with that. This is frustrating, because there is so much you have to do to kill it.

Dear Patti and Rachel,

It looks like Windex is pretty good for a lot of things! I just wish we could get the smell out from the dog on our furniture, floor, etc. You name it, he has ruined it. I am never getting another Yorkie again! I swear Dart is part skunk! No matter what I have used, the smell is still there!

Dear Lisa,

I was in bad shape. I had a bad reaction to some meds the GI doc put me on, and it went downhill from there. Then, we thought my body was shutting down, so I was taken up to IU Med for a full GI work-up. I weighed 87 pounds when I arrived, and 84 when I left. To give you an idea of how bright these geniuses in labcoats were, they could not figure out why I was losing weight since arriving! I had a colonoscopy, endoscopy, intercolisis, gastric emptying study and blood work. I had been on a liquid diet most of the time I was there! Can you say DUH?! If these idiots were supposed to be the best in the country, I would hate to see the worst!

The problems with the ears are likely from Candida. I have a lot of ear wax. There are times I clean my ears out four times a day! I also have ringing a lot. My ears often feel full or pop. I have TMJ, which makes it worse.

As far as laxatives go, avoid anything with Psyllium Husk! I got terrible cramps and diarrhea from it! Sensitive stomachs do not tolerate that stuff! Other people I spoke to said they had the same trouble with that. I would go with good old Castor Oil. I think Alfalfa is gluten free. I was taking Alfalfa tablets for a while. They are gentle. It can take up to twelve hours to work, but it is better than getting bubble guts and stomach cramps.

Candida causes low blood sugar, so that may be why you reacted that way to potatoes. I need a balance of protein and carbs. My system is really messed up, too. The constipation is caused by yeast a lot as well. I had more trouble with that for a while.

Dear Rinne,

Now not only do we have a spinach story, we have a suana story! I think I might have panicked a bit myself. The idea of being stuck in there to waste away is terrifying! That would be scary. Maybe going in there with the door just barely closed would be better!

Dear Bev,

ROFL! I was thinking the same thing about Barium! I took it before. It is pretty frightening what it could do to your body if you are not careful! I would not want to do one of those procedures again if possible! The stuff is just a little risky. Your inner plumbing could get a deadly clog.

Dear Lymies,

I am scared, because the past couple days, I have been feeling weirder than normal. (That is sad when weird is normal! ) My heart palpitations have gotten worse, and I feel like I am going to passout all the time, and very weak and tired. It is scaring me! Does Lyme do this? It started after a really bad migraine yesterday. Could my Thyroid being hyper make me feel this bad?

I am stiff, too. My jaw especially (the TMJ seems to have started some of this) is bothering me. I feel tension in my sinuses. I wonder if I have yeast there, too? The inside of my nostril itches all of the time and kind of burns. Plus, I have eczema. It is typical to have with yeast. My throat has been scratchy and I have had a lot of drainage in my throat since eating cereal with soymilk.

Sometimes after eating the cereal, I feel queasy. Someone on another thread mentioned carageenan often disagrees with people. Could that be causing my sinus trouble and more stomach upset? I ate the cereal dry and was fine. Everytime I eat cereal with soymilk lately, I get a scratchy throat for hours after. I also have been eating a lot of peanut butter lately. Could that have something to do with these problems? I am so scared I am dying or something. :(

Sincerely,

Jin

Rinne-

so glad I have a salt buddy and since we are the rachelville chefs I guess everyone else is gonna have to jump on the band wagon.

Ok So the cranio sacral therapy was interesting. When I went in I was really freading the whole going over my whole health history thing becasue I have told the story so many times. She could tell I really was overwhelmed by it so she had me explain how it started and where I was at now and felt that was enough. This was a relief to me. The whole spirtual side to it is a little far fetched to me but I do think that part of what draws me to it is the mental component associated twith it because my body is in pain so much of the time I feel like I have to teach it to let go of some of it and while its not in my head as many "respected doctors" had told me part of me knows that our guts are are considered to be are second brains and therefore there is some degree of mental work that needs to be done( I am not sure if I explained this right) . It is basically this really gentle massage technique it reminded me in a sense of acupuncture except as opposed to using needles at key points touching and massage is used. Like I said it is very gentl so when she applied any pressure it felt so good and effective. It was actually a pretty long session and I felt my bod begin to relax which it rarely does. I actually fell asleep for part of it- I never sleep during the day - it was really nice ! She tries to locate areas of tension and blockages and as can be expected I had many of these. I am not 100% sure how I feel about it yet but I think it is definilty worth me trying again. It is expensive which is a definite draw back but it is the first time I have felt relaxed in a long time and I know I need my body to be more relaxed if it is ever gonna heal. Ok well that is a quick synopsis theres probably more to say but it escapes me now.

Dear Mia,

I was feeling a little better without it. I have been overdoing the peanut butter. :( It is so hard to stop! If only I had some money to get some tests done! This migraine is about to kill me! I just realized what might be the trouble! My wisdom teeth! I was supposed to have them out, but ended up with a stomach bug last October. You see, my mouth is severely overcrowded, and on top of that, I have TMJ! The one wisdom tooth cannot come through because it is literally trapped! It makes your whole body hurt when they try to come through! Your sinuses tend to run off as well. That weird feeling was scary, though. I think maybe my head was still hurting, but I did not feel it. You know, like a silent migraine.

The sacral craneo therapy sounds like it is helping! That is great news! I am glad you told us about it! This is exciting! I understand the whole mind-body-spirit connection. I am interested in Reiki, energy healing, Qi-Gong, and all of those.

Sincerely,

It is expensive which is a definite draw back but it is the first time I have felt relaxed in a long time and I know I need my body to be more relaxed if it is ever gonna heal. Ok well that is a quick synopsis theres probably more to say but it escapes me now.

Wow, this sounds fantastic!!! Wednesday when the physical therapist was massaging my arm and rest of my neck, shoulders, etc., he kept saying relax. I said, I am...this is it. :P I think I am relaxed but my body almost never relaxes completely, so this sounds really wonderful!

Good morning loves! I feel like arse but the bariium is finally exiting (my poops look like casper the friendly ghost's- sorry, I know, TMI)

rachel- want your review of Disturbia.

Mia- I had cranisacral therapy done once after a ski accident in 2005 and it felt wonderful. It was more relaxing than a massage. You made me realize i should look into it.

I was thinking about acupuncture but my last experience with it was HORRID. Not the acupuncture, but the acupuncturist :( Evil man! But I remember loving cranio-sacral therapy- I literally just melted. I hate the fact that anything good for you is EXPENSIVE. that is so wrong!

I have been looking for Himalayan salt but can't find it anywhere. Any suggestions? Love and happy saturday to all!

Dear Donna,

Thanks for the input! I was talking to someone else from the forum, and she has felt the same way! :o We think we might be twins born 15 years apart! I know my wisdom teeth do not help. They could definitely be causing this or some of it.

Dear Susan,

This emoticon rule is HEINOUS!:lol: I think we should petition Scott. What do you think? Maybe there is a technical element here I am missing, but isn't that limiting our expressiveness?

In Rachelville, this is very important to our individuality. ;)

Dear Patti,

I love your new avatar!

Dear Bev,

I can relate to the Casper crap! I had a gastric emptying study up at IU Med several years ago. The poo was a result of the barium-laced eggs they fed me for the test. At that point, I was so happy to get solid food, I could not have cared less that there was barium in the eggs! It was kind of cool seeing my food break up in the scanner. It was horrible though, when the Casper crap came out, it stuck to your butt! :o I swear those things could have glowed in the dark!

Sincerely,

Jin

Welcome to the forum, @Kiwifruit, I agree further testing is needed.  Disaccharidase deficiency is a symptom of Celiac disease.   On your test results, this line  "IgA: 0.9 g/l (norm 0.8 - 4.0)" is referring to Total IgA and it's very low.  People with low or deficient Total IgA should also have DGP IgG test done.  Low Total IgA means you are making low levels of tTg  IgA as well, leading to false negatives or "weak positives".  Maybe a DNA test for known Celiac genes.   Anemia, diabetes, and thiamine deficiency can cause test results like these.  Get checked for B12 deficiency anemia and have your iron (ferritin) checked.  Vitamin D deficiency is common, too.   Might be time to find a gastrointestinal doctor who is more familiar with diagnosing Celiac Disease.   Best wishes on your journey!  Please keep us posted on your progress.

Yes, there is a trend in the medical community to forego the endoscopy/biopsy and grant an official celiac diagnosis based on high tTG-IGA antibody scores alone. This trend started in the UK and is spreading to the USA medical community. And yes, 5-10x the normal level is what I have been seeing as the threshold as well. Here is the relevant section dealing from the article above dealing with the importance of the total IGA test being ordered. See the embedded attachment.

Ok, interesting. Not what I was thinking that meant. I'm reading the article and trying to understand. I see this “According to the latest research, if the blood test results are at certain high levels that range between 5-10 times the reference range for a positive celiac disease diagnosis, it may not be necessary to confirm the results using an endoscopy/biopsy” My IgG is 90, which is 6 times. So to me that means it's highly likely I do have it.

It just means you aren't IGA deficient, i.e., that IGA deficiency cannot have given you artificially low scores in the individual IGA celiac antibody tests. This is explained in the article Scott linked above.

Normal range: 70 - 400 mg/dL, a little above middle of the range. So what does that mean? Thank you! I will check out that page you linked. Appreciate it!
