And may I just say--va-va-va-voom! B) You look very nice in the dress.

Thanks Patti...I actually have alot of dresses now....just not alot of opportunities to wear them. :(

In my entire 20's you could probably count the times I wore a dress on one hand. I started liking dresses more once I got into my 30's. :)

I love your avatar--you look so happy and cute :)

I was really happy that day. It was a fun b-day....I had to edit my ex out of the pic though. :P

Happy Birthday Cheryl!!!

My mom's birthday was May 4.

This pic was taken on my 30th birthday....I was at Benihanas (sp?) having dinner with my friends and family. Later on some of us went out dancing....I have a bunch of pictures of me getting all crazy outside the club.

I LOVE this picture!!! Love the personal photo too!

And may I just say--va-va-va-voom! You look very nice in the dress.

I'm with Patti- rachel you look simply GORRRGEOUSSSSSSSSSS in both pics!!!!!!!!!!! I know what you mean about having dresses and not wearing them. I only like to dress up when I feel good or energetic (uhm- right now, like never).

I love seeing everyon'e new avatars- I love the black and white ones too. I have 2 really cool ones of my mom on a ski trip with her girlfriends that I think was probably taken around 1952. They all took a train up and there are skis and everyone is wearing these cool sweaters and it's all girls except for ONE guy who's got this big sheepish grin on his face. Then there's another one of them at dinner in their ski sweaters with those really cool old-fashioned champange glasses.

Jin- Thank you- that was a very very very happy day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Andrea- Could the little guy be ANY cuter? Doubtful!

He's still cute but it seems they lose some of that cuteness as they get older. He'll be 18 months tomorrow. :)

Your pic is a wedding pic isn't it?

Are you going to call this wednesday to see if you results are in or wait until next wednesday? Didn't you say wednesday was the day you could call your doctor.

I dont think I mentioned it but I loved the personal pic you had up recently. I think you had 2 different ones of you...they were both GREAT pics. I see you've changed it again...which cute little doggie is this one?? Is this the one that you rescued (forgot his name)?

rinne- I loved what you said about being beaten and bruised and making your way up a mountain, only to fall onto the rocks. Sometimes I think that I fight so hard I make myself sicker. I am finally learning to accept help and be honest about how I'm feeling.

Mold?    I REALLY think that the mold in our old apartment was what killed me. That and our lanlord fed the pigeons. In the packet my doc gave me, he said to get rid of bird feeding because it can attract the deer ticks

....

Thanks Bev, I completely agree with you about the mold. :(

We're leaving for NY in the morning, so I won't be around much for a couple days. :)

I hope you have a great time, I think I posted this too late though and you are already gone so I hope you had a great time. :)

I always enjoy reading your posts (along with everyone else's) and appreciate the time everyone takes posting.

Your son is soooo cute. :) Right back at ya.

What you said about soy was interesting. I think people get soy happy. According to something I read, you should not overdo it. The best thing is to stay under 35 - 45 mg of Isoflavones per day. There is such a thing as too much of a good thing. The carageenan is definitely not out of the question. I should get some soymilk with only the filtered water and and soy again. If I do a rotation diet, that can rule out the culprit.

The sauna story is so funny! I would have been crying and panicking probably. That is a situation I think I would freak out about. If no one was around especially, that would be a problem. I am pretty calm and collected with most situations, but my fear of enclosed spaces would make this one difficult.

.....

End of part 1 :P to the emoticon police.

rinne Apprentice

Part 2 and really I am teasing about the emoticons, I am sure there is a good reason to limit the amount of memory they take up and I do appreciate the generousity of having this place to come to. :)

Interesting information about the amount of soy it is okay to consume, thanks. :)

As for the sauna, I kind of knew that the only immediate danger I was in was the danger of being extremely embarrassed.:lol: And bare assed. :P

Yeah...I dont think people wanna hear about Lyme.

Yup, I remember how eager I was. :P:lol:

Dunno Patti??

I know alot of people react to it....including me. I've read enough bad stuff about it to make me believe its not too good for us. I believe MSG can cause weight gain and I dont think carrageenan is much different.

MSG is linked to obesity and alzheimer's, spelling?

Happy Birthday, Cheryl! :D

Hope you have a nice, relaxing day :)

I finally finished my spreadsheet...phew, I'm exhausted. I still have two more to input, but the basic structure is there. No one's ever going to read the darned thing...there's just too much stuff. It's like my symptoms...I lose 'em after the first 10 or so.

Andrea- Could the little guy be ANY cuter? Doubtful!

Yes, one of the pictures on my personal page was from a Christmas program we did at church...we had to get all dressed up in our basic black, lol. The other one was from a couple of years ago...bright fuschia pink bridesmaid dress, lol. Really fuschia! Actually, that started me on my love for fuschia pink. :P

Tomorrow at work I'll load two from when I was around 18.

How fun! I bet it's just tuscan food...maybe gluten free pasta, etc. I don't know of a restaurant called Tuscany, but then, I don't eat out a lot, so there could be, lol. I'd like to go the REAL Tuscany in Italy! :P

dlp252 Apprentice

Okay, I put the bridesmaid picture back up on my personal page...the little dog was my first dog Coco. Her ears were always the same size, lol...she finally grew into them, but boy were they big as a puppy.

Technically I'm not supposed to call for my results this Wednesday, but I'm going to pretend I have Lyme brain and I forgot just in case they're in. The charge from Igenix already showed up on my credit card so MAYBE the results are in. i hope so!!!!!!!

My next appt is June 5th.....too far away!

Thanks Bev!

Speaking of that picture...remember a couple of weeks ago we were talking about palsy and drooping faces, etc. That picture of me clearly shows one side of my mouth drooping--it never used to, at least not so noticable. Also my one eye is drooping...that happens when I get really, really tired, which I was on this day,

I have my next session of ART scheduled! Scott just emailed me with the day he is going to test next and gave me some time choices. June 2 after my BioSET session. Yay!

Yay on getting your spreadsheet done. :)

If you and Rachel could eat more foods it would have been fun to meet up at Los Altos.

We are getting ready to eat a late dinner. Got bread going in the over pretty soon too. :) I was going to make it tomorrow but had already mixed the yeast in the flours......

Wanted to get out and weed today but it decided to rain. Aaaawwwwww, too bad. :P I'm not complaining mind you. :) I got Seth's baby keepsake blanket done....just need to wash it with the backing and take it up to a friend to sew the backing on for me. I also got his birth record finished, Talitha's latch hook done and I've started on Seth's latch hook. Talitha's learned to read the chart so I'm going to get her a little latch hook to do. This is all stuff I bought a couple years ago that I'm just getting back too. Still have cross stitch to do for the children that they picked out (except Seth, I picked out his). Also Mitch's and my cross stitches and latch hook. I wonder how long this craft spurt will last. :P

Also the codex laws they are attempting to pass and have passed in some European countries basically give pharmaceutical companies utter control over what we may purchase. In the article I read it listed what will be controlled and distributed by pharmacies and salt and baking soda are included in that. Think about what that means. Further, the vitamins that are distributed through the pharmacies in countries currently controlled by codex are loaded with sugar and are minimally effective, probably not effective enough to counter the negative effects of the sugar in them.

I think norway and germany have adopted the Codex standards and canada has implemented some things that fall in line... apparently in Canada, a number of supplements like melatonin, dhea, and pau d'arco are either banned or heavily restricted and regulated... from what I've read, it's infinitely worse in places like norway where I think prescriptions are required for things like vitamin E and the amount a person can take is restricted to RDA type values... the price of the vitamins/supplements you can even get in the first place has gone up tenfold as well...

I try to learn about these things as I have time, but it takes a lot of research to find out what is a true threat to things like DSHEA and what is more hyped up than it should be for one reason or another... from some things I've heard re: Codex's guidelines that will supposedly be implemented in the US by 2009, all vitamins and supplements will be heavily regulated and restricted, most requiring prescriptions and some being outright eliminated... if this is the case, DSHEA will have to be overturned by then and I try to keep up with information on any relevant bills being introduced and making their way through Congress... Open Original Shared Link is a decent site for finding out information on different legislation affecting food and health...

also, rinne, if I'm not mistaken, I think you said that your floaters have completely gone away, right?

oh, and the spinach story was very funny... didn't know where the term came from but now I see why spinach became so popular...

Claire,

I saw your post about castor oil packs!! I'm doing this too. :D

I have all the stuff for my "pack" and a heating pad but I'm not gonna have time to do it until the weekend.

My BioSET lady had recommended it a few months back...for my fibroid and cyst...and also for stimulating my liver and lymphatic stuff. I'm finally gonna start doing it....its part of my "detox plan". :D

Glad to hear you got good results from it!!

Let us know how the cookies turn out. :)

Well, the cookies turned out really dry. I was hoping for a nice moist oatmeal cookie. I wish there was a "Gluten-Free Baking for Dummies" cookbook! I tried grinding the oatmeal to make oat flour, which turned out ok. My cookies rose nicely, but they were dry. Don't know how to get them to be chewy  .

Fibroids may be the whole trouble. I bleed off and on all the time. This has been going on for more than two years. The doctor has no idea what is causing this. I am scared. Do Fibroids cause pain shooting down through your legs? I am getting that.

Jin, Yes, fibroids can cause bleeding problems. Have you had an ultrasound in the last two years? I have read that fibroids can cause pain down the leg. When I used to be on the fibroids boards, there were some women who did have this problem. The fibroids will push on other organs and nerves if they get big enough. I know of women who had relief from this pain once they had their fibroids removed.

I think I said this to you when you first joined this board: any abnormal uterine bleeding should be checked out. If your doctor doesn't know what's causing it, then it's time to get a new doctor! I know money is an issue for you, but fibroids don't typically get better on their own. The longer you put of dealing with it, the worse they get.

I've always been that way though,:lol: I am a scorpio and at times like this when I feel like I am emerging out of the ashes of my old life I think maybe there is something to all of that.

Oh, my astrologer was telling me that scopios are like that; like the phoenix rising from the flames.

Dear Lymies,

I am scared, because the past couple days, I have been feeling weirder than normal. (That is sad when weird is normal! ) My heart palpitations have gotten worse, and I feel like I am going to passout all the time, and very weak and tired. It is scaring me! Does Lyme do this? It started after a really bad migraine yesterday. Could my Thyroid being hyper make me feel this bad?

Jin, I was reading up on hyperthyroidism, cuz I had a high T3, and yes, heart palpitations can be a symptom of hyperthyroidism. Anemia can cause dizziness and fatigue. I'm worried with all your bleeding that you are anemic. Have you had it checked out? I got anemic just from the spotting I had between my periods before I had my fibroids removed.

I was thinking about acupuncture but my last experience with it was HORRID. Not the acupuncture, but the acupuncturist :( Evil man!

I wish I watched Grey's Anatomy cuz I heard recently that there is a hot acupuncturist that showed up one episode? I wouldn't describe any of my acupuncturists as "hot", , but I have had a lot of positive results from it.

can leaky guy trigger ibs or ibd?

Absolutely!!

I have to skim most of the posts to keep up. Hugs to everyone!

Claire

Your concerns about Nando's cross-contamination practices are valid and important for the celiac community. It's disappointing that Nando's does not have stricter protocols for children's portions, especially given the risk of cross-contact with gluten-containing items like garlic bread. Cooking gluten-free items on shared surfaces, even if cleaned, is not safe for individuals with celiac disease, as even trace amounts of gluten can cause harm. While the adult butterfly chicken may be a safer option, the inconsistency in practices for children's meals is concerning. It's frustrating that Nando's headquarters did not take responsibility, but sharing your experience raises awareness and may encourage them to improve their protocols. Consider reaching out to celiac advocacy organizations to amplify your concerns and push for better standards. Always double-check with staff and emphasize the importance of avoiding cross-contamination when dining out.

I had this symptom when I was diagnosed. Are you sure that your diet is 100% gluten-free?  Many people with celiac disease, especially those who are in the 0-2 year range of their recovery, have additional food intolerance issues which could be temporary. To figure this out you may need to keep a food diary and do an elimination diet over a few months. Some common food intolerance issues are dairy/casein, eggs, corn, oats, and soy. The good news is that after your gut heals (for most people who are 100% gluten-free this will take several months to two years) you may be able to slowly add some these items back into your diet after the damaged villi heal. This article has some detailed information on how to be 100% gluten-free, so it may be helpful (be sure to also read the comments section.):

Based on your results, it seems unlikely that you have celiac disease. A negative endoscopy and the absence of HLA-DQ2/DQ8 genes (the primary genetic markers for celiac) strongly suggest you do not have the condition. However, the elevated TTG-IgA (22) could indicate a temporary immune response or another issue, such as a different autoimmune disorder, intestinal infection, or even a lab anomaly. The presence of DQA1*05 alone is not diagnostic for celiac. Meeting with an allergist and GI specialist is a good next step to explore other potential causes for the high antibodies, such as non-celiac gluten sensitivity or other immune-related conditions. Keep a detailed food and symptom diary to help guide further testing and discussions with your doctors. Approximately 10x more people have non-celiac gluten sensitivity than have celiac disease, but there isn’t yet a test for NCGS. If your symptoms go away on a gluten-free diet it would likely signal NCGS.

I had celiac panel done back in October, only ttg iga came back high  (22 with positive being over 3). Endoscopy done in January, it was  negative. Genetic test done after endoscopy, negative for both hla dq2 & dq8. Did show positive for dqa1*05.  Scheduled to meet with an allergist next week. Not scheduled to meet with GI specialist till after allergist. Confused if I have celiac or what caused high the antibodies originally if I do not.

Tums is an antacid.  Calcium (also vitamin D) need it acidic for absorption, so you're not really getting any calcium benefit.  Try DGL, it coats rather than counteracts acid. You need acid anyway to digest and get those vitamins. It's usually not too much acid that causes heartburn, it's not enough acid which causes food to rot and ferment in the stomach. Try DGL, everyone I've gotten to actually try it has had great relief. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001IAJW0K
