Gosh! All of that chaos this morning :o --not good :(

So relieved that Whole Foods had your phone--thank goodness someone turned it in. That happened to Mark a couple years ago at Acme--he left his phone on the little ledge by the handle of the shopping cart out in the parking lot. We did the same as you--retraced our steps, and sure enough, someone found it and it was at the desk.

Let's hear it for honest, thoughtful people!!!

I hope that they can get you on the schedule for June. How nice it was for him to get back to you so soon--I'm sure he'll be able to work something out. :)

Now, take a deep breath :P

Yes, looking good seems to go with Lyme. :(:P:lol:

:lol::lol:

Rinne...its funny cuz I feel pretty gross most of the time but still get compliments on my looks.

Yeah...apparantly we can be more toxic than anyone can possibly comprehend and still look half-way decent.

I feel like when I'm stirring up toxins or in a reactive state my skin looks really bad...pale, puffy and just not having a "healthy glow". The toxins really affect my skin. I felt like this all week and on Friday a customer was asking me about certain ingredients in orange juice. I was explaining to her what the different ingredients were and she was wanting to know which of 2 brands had less junk in it.

I told her one definately had some stuff that probably isnt too good for us. She then asked me how old I am...I told her I'm 35. She said "Oh my gosh....you look so young...you have such GREAT skin!"

So yeah...it definately made me feel better cuz I was feeling really pale and gross.

She said she has 2 kids in their 20's who are really big into eating healthy so shes trying to do better for them but she doesnt have a good understanding of whats bad. I told her I've had to learn alot about this stuff because I have health problems.

She looked at me surprised and said "Health problems?? Well you certainly LOOK great!."

Normally I hate to hear that when its making me feel as if people arent taking my illness seriously....not this time though...I was definately appreciating her compliments. :P

A couple hours later a friend that I havent seen for maybe 3 years stopped by. We talked about 45 minutes and during that time I told her how I had lost 25 lbs. while I was off work. She said..."I can TELL....and you havent gained ANY of it back yet!!!." :o

I was like..."YES...I gained 15 lbs back....I was WAY skinnier before!!" She said she can still tell...I was small to begin with and now I'm even smaller. :(

Definately the people who havent seen me in a long time can tell right away....they know I'm not looking the same. People who just meet me now think I look great and would never think I'm dealing with health issues. The people who see me everyday *think* that I'm back to my normal weight...after having went through seeing me get scary thin and now I'm at a healthier weight. I'm actually still 10 lbs. lighter than I was prior to getting sick.

I think you and I are similar and we all know I'm sensitive to mold  so maybe you arre too!

Bev...I think you're right up there with me on the mold thing. Mold sucks...its literally everywhere. If it werent for the molds my diet wouldnt be nearly as restricted. :(

I think if Patti moves from being one of the Lyme-ettes...to being part of the Lyme Clan...she probably has the same stupid mold issues. :(

Dried fruit is one of the top foods to be avoided on candida diet....loaded with natural sugars and mold.

Rachel- THANK YOU for the links. I uhm tried this am and it worked well (sorry if that's TMI).

No problem....I used to post on candida boards and also CureZone...they arent shy about anything on those boards!!

I guess I got used to it. :P

I started doing salt yesterday (OMG- that sounds like code for "I started doing crack yesterday). :P

ROFL... :lol::lol:

Yeah...if you start posting alot of crazy and bizzarre stuff I'm gonna have to tell you to lay off the "salt".:lol:

I have been much colder than I used to be and yesterday I was hot all day. I even sweat!

I used to be very warm and sweat very easily and the last 4 years I have been cold even when it's 90 degrees out.

OMG...I might have to jump on the salt bandwagon!! I wanna be warm and sweaty too!!!:lol:

I'm like a damn popsicle half the time. If I were sweeter (and less toxic) I might pass for a Rinne Bar. :P

So can I do Salt without doing Vit C?? Will that do anything for me?? I dont think I tolerate Vit C too well....I tried some last week but I'll try again. Something gave me mouth blisters...it was either the Vit. C or the Transfer Factor. <_<

I stopped both and will have to try them again...seperately.

Does Vit C promote detox?? Cause yeah...I dont do well with things that get stuff moving.

I could always lower the dose and work my way up though. :)

Last week I was especially cold...the more I stir up toxins the colder I get and my skin gets puffy and pale. The day that I threw up...my brownie stealing friend told me I looked really pale...someone else disagreed with her but I DID think I looked pale...and I also felt really cold.

Should I try salt??

Jin- I think the way you address everyone in your posts like "Dear Carla" "Dear Mia" is so sweet!!!!!!!!!!!:rolleyes:

 I know, isn't it adorable? and SO organized!! How does Jin keep evrything straight??? she must take notes during reading..... ;)

Bev - - I think this fever must be quite a good thing, right? yay! killing the buggers!!

Off to my moms in about an hour. Children can't wait, although the weather isn't as nice as we'd like.....they were looking forward to riding there bikes (which are at Grandama's).

Have a wonderful day at your mom's. We will see you later and look for your report. BTW, how far is she? Have fun!

My classmate has been having a hard time with her second pregnancy. She has had bad morning sickness, and on top of that, mood swings. The other day, she got annoyed and took the fan out of the window, and threw it at their big dog! It scared the crap out of the dog! Now he is afraid of her! Now, I am not promoting animal cruelty here, but it was funny.

:o Threw the fan at the dog?? I am not telling the dingos....they would not be pleased.....;)

Oh yes, the menopause is a trip alright! It is a difficult journey for us all! Perhaps during menopause, people should just be locked up for others' safety?

Such an excellent idea!!!

Jin - - you mentioned comforting Dart - - is that a dog or a cat? and seizures? I don't know anything about this.....so sorry. Must be terrible to watch. :(

Poor Stinker.....I found her this morning, wedged under the barbecue, on the cool gravel, near the back fence, tucked away. She looks SO startled when I rouse her......she does have cataracts, I just found out, is losing her hearing, and is just wobbling so. she did make it through a full orchard walk - - that is not as hard as it is bright daylight and a straight line - no furniture to maneuver, etc. Evidently with this disorder they are completely disoriented in the dark......so I keep a light on for her at night. She is such a plucky girl, still trying to fetch her toys, and can't even see them. :( My stupid $$$ vet wants to put her on all sorts of drugs......she has NO idea how much money I"ve spent on her alreayd and how much that stoic dog has already endured. I jsut want to keep her comfortable - - I WILL put her on thyroid meds if the (YET ANOTHER) blood test shows this is necessary, and some other med to help with her arthritis - - - but I am going to call a feed store and see if I can find these things for less money. Um, Stinker's mommy IS unemployed now....

RACHEL - - - SO glad you got your cell phone back! It is just crazy to lose it, I lost mine recently and even though I hardly ever use it, felt as though I'd lost a limb or something! Some lovely gardeners found it, and gave it to their boss, who called my mom! and I got it back.

So sorry about Dr. Amy and the appointment debacle, but somehow, I do have a feeling you'll get in to see her.

well, off to do more planting today, this is about the last of it as it will be too hot....and to try and walk the girls.

love and happy Sunday to everyone!

DUDE - - of COURSE you should try the salt!!!!! why not? I mean, you don't want to walk around like a Rinne Bar all the time do you? :P:lol:

Rachel--24 Collaborator
Let's hear it for honest, thoughtful people!!!

Yeah...I always turn stuff in when I find it at work so I would hope its good karma. :)

I know I left it on the counter where I set it while I got out my checkbook (yeah...I still write checks  ). I've done it before but in the past I dont get very far before realizing I dont have my cellphone. Last night it was just about closing time when I was there...so the cashier probably noticed it and turned it in. :)

One time I found a wallet in the parking lot at work...it had $400 + change. I turned it in and the store contacted the lady (from her info in the wallet). The lady wasnt even worried!! She strolled in....got her wallet and never even checked to see that her money, credit cards etc.. were still there.

Of course....this was in a city where pretty much everyone living there is a millionairre....so I guess $400 aint that big a deal. I know I would have been so darn grateful I might have spilled tears!

Rachel--24 Collaborator
DUDE - - of COURSE you should try the salt!!!!! why not? I mean, you don't want to walk around like a Rinne Bar all the time do you? :P:lol:

NO...I definetely dont wanna BE a Rinne Bar. I want to eat lots of them though. :P

Yup....I do feel like a part of me is missing right now. Its frightening that my cell phone is so far away from me right now. :o I think I'll still be somewhat worried until its actually back where it belongs....attached to the side of my head. B)

On the bright side....maybe the swelling above my ears will subside today. :P

Poor Stinker...she is such a brave dog. Its sad that shes going through this...I do hope Annie has realized that maybe its not so good for Stinker to get knocked down all the time. Is there any change in Annie??

Dear Susan,

I sort of have a little trick for memory I read about. It is so funny, because it sounds strange, but it really works! If there is something you want to remember, press your "memory buttons" on your head! This is quirky, but it works! You just use your index finger to tap the top of your head lightly to help you remember.

It really does work! ;) I try to stay organized. I felt bad in a way, because my friend Jacqui was afraid to write to me, because she thought I sounded so educated!

I appreciated her saying so, because if I do not sound educated, I have been wasting my time in college!

My brother makes fun of me, because he says I am like Felix. I suppose I am a bit OCD. I am very methodical about how I do things. It is funny, but that is just how I am! (You know me! I am just cool like that! :P )

Yes, my classmate threw the fan at their dog! It might be a good idea not to tell the dingos! They might get a tad bit upset! Poor Stinker sure would not need the stress! Perhaps we will just let that one slide!

Dart is a dog. He is a Yorkie. Mom and Dad have been sneaking food he should not eat to him, though. The vet put him on prescription food. It is possible he has a shunt (abnormality) in his liver. :(

The seizures are scary to watch, and he cries in pain. He likes to be held and me rock him back and forth. He recovered pretty quickly, though. He has improved.

Maybe you will get some answers for Stinker, soon. She is having such a rough time. We used to have a Standard Schnauzer who was crippled that would follow you to the ends of the Earth. Tasha Bear and me were like Shaggy and Scooby! She was my Scoobette! Tasha died two years ago. I still miss her, and my Mini-Schnauzer, Jasmine.

Dear Patti,

Thanks for the article! I had to bookmark that one! Finally, some media coverage on Lyme! What took these people so long! I really think that some knowledge is coming out in the open. I can relate to that teenager. You just feel so tired brushing your teeth or anything! :(

Dear Rachel,

It sounds like your morning was quite exhausting! I am glad your phone was found and turned in! Are you as surprised as I am that there are honest people around? I thought they only existed in Rockwell paintings! I thought they were extinct like the Do-Do Bird and the Dinosaurs!

They did a social experiment a while back on the news. Wallets were planted in various spots around town. Our news crew then waited to see how many would be turned in. It turns out, 7 of the 10 were returned with the money in tact. That is pretty good!

I am thinking about jumping on the salt bandwagon as well. It would be nice to feel decent for once. I sure hate the nausea. That is the roughest part. Fatigue is a little easier to deal with. It does impose extreme limitations, but not like the nausea.

We will keep our fingers crossed for you! You deserve to see Dr. Amy! They should have called you back! Scott seems terrific! You are lucky to find someone like him to help you. :)

You were talking about how Patti could be sensitive to mold as well. I second that! The dried fruit never set well with me. I always got nauseated after eating it. Dried fruits did not like me at all!

I wonder though, if the chemicals they treat them with were part of, too. I had some trouble with my asthma and allergies after eating them as well.

Sincerely,

Jin

Dear Rinne,

I finally got to go to the Lyme Strategies site. I bookmarked it. Now I can get there in a flash!

That is a great place to find information! I hope to try the Salt/C solution soon! Payday is not until later this week on the 1st.

Dear Nikki,

Well, blow me if it wasn't already your birthday! HAPPY LATE BIRTHDAY! Did you get to eat cake or anything? I have been racheling Reese Cups for the past few days! I told myself after those are gone, I can make my chocolate chip cookies! I have my Nestle Semisweet Chocolate Morsels now! :)

Sincerely,

Jin

Jin...if you had trouble with asthma and allergies after eating dried fruit this could very well be a problem with sulfites. Pretty much all dried fruits are treated with sulfites. You can get un-sulphured dried fruits at health stores like Whole Foods but noramlly they all have sulfites.

I have problems with sulphites and have posted about it lots of times. I totally forgot about this and its also another possibility for Pattis reaction. :o

I'm betting on the trail mix....and that its an issue of mold or sulfites...or both.

I was buying some organic unsulphured dried fruits from WF but I still had bloating and other problems from candida and mold. :(

Really, the FACE and EGBDF does not help? I am surprised! Everyone needs to learn in their own way, though. Some of us are better at picking up things with visual aids, while others do better hearing. We all have our own individual way of what helps us learn best. I think that is one thing they ignore in schools that should be addressed.

Well, I never actually had any musical training, so don't know how the notes are supposed to sound, lol. I tried to teach myself to read music, and that's the only reason I know about FACE and EGBDF, so I can tell you what the written note IS I just can't tell how it sounds or sing it.

It was so weird. About two hours after I took the salt with 2000 mg of Vitamin C I actually got a fever! Well, 98.8 but for someone who's been waking up with a basal temp of 95 and rarely goes above 96, 98.8 FELT like a fever. It felt bad but in a way, I was excited because I thought, hey maybe my immune system is waking up a little! I haven't had a fever in probably 3 years. I have been much colder than I used to be and yesterday I was hot all day. I even sweat!

OMG! If I can ever find a vitamin C I can take in high doses, I'm doing this, lol. My temp is usually 96.something and rarely goes above 97. When I don't feel well it actually DROPS...I haven't had a true fever in a few years...the last time was the time I remember being really, really sick after all the hiking trips and such.

Nope, no cake - dear lord trying to lose a few pounds as giving up smoking is terrible for the waistline!! :o (but great on the lungs)

I blame Patti who sent me the recipe for her lemon meringue pie........ :P

NoGluGirl Contributor

Dear Nikki,

I have been trying to lose a few pounds as well. So far, my mother has noticed my hips are smaller. That is good, because I did not! I do a lot around here. I do not sit still too much.

I am figety. I am glad you had a nice birthday. Although, even when you are trying to lose weight, it is alright to have a treat so you do not feel deprived. Otherwise, you keep eating because you are not satisfied. That will make you gain weight. It is an all things in moderation issue.

Smoking is something I never did, because of asthma. I am glad I did not get hooked. My dad is a smoker. He coughs all of the time. He is like a chimney with legs. Breathing in that stuff is not good for me, either!

Dear Donna,

At least you can tell by hearing the note. I cannot do that! My best friend probably could, too!

I am one of those who plays by ear on the keyboard. I sing, but I never had voice lessons.

Oh Rachel! The heiniosity of it all...how did you get through it! :P I could lose my cell phone and not realize it was missing for a few weeks. :P

Wow, I bet Scott can get you in with Amy! He is just so very nice and I bet they can make some kind of arrangement. Maybe they'll be a cancellation!

So can I do Salt without doing Vit C?? Will that do anything for me?? I dont think I tolerate Vit C too well....I tried some last week but I'll try again. Something gave me mouth blisters...it was either the Vit. C or the Transfer Factor.

...

Does Vit C promote detox?? Cause yeah...I dont do well with things that get stuff moving.

You and me both. I had the explosive D again today...was afraid I might have to miss church, but did make it through...I took my usual 1/4 tsp dose (which is 1.25 grams of Vit C) and I think that did it. It just doesn't mix with something I'm taking in the morning. I take one thing early in the morning that I don't take any other time, so that might be it. Anyway...my experience with this D is that it is exactly like the colonoscopy prep that I did. :P:lol::ph34r: I feel very cleaned out, so I'm sure there is some sort of detox affect.

That explosive D sounds familiar! I had that with my colonoscopy prep, too! It was terrible! It shot out of you so fast, it is faster than the speed of light! I was really cleaned out, too, because I had to take 2 oral enemas, and 8 laxative pills! :o Never again!

Ok I look on here and found on mention about CARBUNCLE. I have one of these right now. So I am now wondering if this is some thing that is directly related to Celiac Sprue? I seem to have a lot of problems with boils and now this ever since I was diagnosed. Can any one help me with this?

Thank you,

Grump

I still read lots of other boards and I thought I'd let you guys know that the other day I came across a post mentioning this thread. The poster was recommending that others come check out this really long thread by Rachel24...on Celiac.com....lots of really good info on Lyme.

So apparantly there are readers who are being informed and possibly helped by all of our scientificness here. :)

I think its great that in helping each other we are also helping others along the way. Very cool...I do see alot of guests on but I never really knew if any of them were actually reading along and learning with us. I do believe there are readers who have "known" us for some time....we just dont know them. :P

But I'm gonna just say "HI" to anyone who might be following along. :D

I had much more to say, but so much to do today, and must sign off. I am going to spend time with my girl....who just about stroked out on our walk. :( I waited too late in the day, and it was too hot for her, I think, with all her other ailments. We walked at a snail's pace through the orchard (while Annie ran wild, which is good - - makes her tired), and Tika fell over a couple of times. We stopped and rested several times. I am heartbroken......so I"m modifying things.....I'm doing okay though, and I just need to keep my old girl cool and comfy. Am going to look into the arthritis/glucosamine med my doctor talked about - - I just need to find out what it really is and find it CHEAPER. anybody know anything?

Happy Memorial Day to all. This is one of my favorite holidays, always makes me appreciate my freedom and what others did in their sacrifice for our country. :) I think we need a Roosevelt or a Truman or a Churchill today.......

I started doing salt yesterday (OMG- that sounds like code for "I started doing crack yesterday). :P

So now I am doing the Theralac probiotic, 6000 mg Vitamin C, milk thistle, and 3/4 teaspoon of magnesium.

It was so weird. About two hours after I took the salt with 2000 mg of Vitamin C I actually got a fever! Well, 98.8 but for someone who's been waking up with a basal temp of 95 and rarely goes above 96, 98.8 FELT like a fever. Dear Rinne,

It is great your sweetie will be home to help you! ;) We are going to be painting the outside of the house today. I have to be careful, because of the heat. I also have class work to catch up on. Finance is HEINOUS! I am hoping to do okay in this class so I can never take it again! This is the second time around, and should be the last! My brain just seems so slow. I try to make it understand and think, but it doesn't want to!

:) I hope you didn't get too much sun.

Glad to know you found the Lyme Strategies site.

Patti, I don't think there is anything anyone can say that can prepare us for menopause  or mentalpause as a friends refers to it.

There was an article about Lyme Disease today on the first page of our local paper. Here's the link--

Thanks for the link, glad to see more being publicized about it.

Well my Sunday has started out really bad.....

The people who see me everyday *think* that I'm back to my normal weight...after having went through seeing me get scary thin and now I'm at a healthier weight. I'm actually still 10 lbs. lighter than I was prior to getting sick.

I have much the same experience, so weird to be told how great you look when it feels like it is taking everything just to manage.

Dried fruit, sulfites...eek, truly heinous.

......

Yeah...if you start posting alot of crazy and bizzarre stuff I'm gonna have to tell you to lay off the "salt".:lol:

OMG...I might have to jump on the salt bandwagon!! I wanna be warm and sweaty too!!!:lol:

I'm like a damn popsicle half the time. If I were sweeter (and less toxic) I might pass for a Rinne Bar. :P

So can I do Salt without doing Vit C?? Will that do anything for me?? I dont think I tolerate Vit C too well....I tried some last week but I'll try again. Something gave me mouth blisters...it was either the Vit. C or the Transfer Factor. <_<

.....

Should I try salt??

Some people do the salt without the C, you could try but I would start with just 1/4 teaspoon a day.

Um, Stinker's mommy IS unemployed now....

....

So sorry about Stinker. :(

And did you even tell us about the unemployed part, did I miss it? Must I go back? :P

DUDE - - of COURSE you should try the salt!!!!! why not? I mean, you don't want to walk around like a Rinne Bar all the time do you? :P:lol:

Ok I look on here and found on mention about CARBUNCLE. I have one of these right now. So I am now wondering if this is some thing that is directly related to Celiac Sprue? I seem to have a lot of problems with boils and now this ever since I was diagnosed. Can any one help me with this?

Thank you,

Grump

Hi Grump and welcome. I have had a carbuncle before, I dealt with it with an epsom salt bath when it was at the point of bursting. I've also had problems with boils and have learned that at the first sign of one coming if I take a lot of garlic it goes away without coming to a head. Garlic purifies the blood and I've read that boils are an indication of toxins in the blood.

As to the relationship with Celiac, I don't know about that.

Wow, that is cool. Hello to anyone reading along, please feel free to join us. :)

Happy Memorial Day to all. This is one of my favorite holidays, always makes me appreciate my freedom and what others did in their sacrifice for our country. :) I think we need a Roosevelt or a Truman or a Churchill today.......

(not trying to cause any trouble here, dear ones!! )

I love your kind of trouble. :P:lol::wub:

Used to have a problem with boils, but haven't had one in a few years now. I see that Rinne answered your question about the carbuncle.

Well hello to anyone who might be reading and visiting!

Oh my Looooooooooord, Donna, that is not fun! what on earth???? I shall never forget that heinous blowout before the colonoscopy. Had the first "cocktail" in the early evening, I think, and the second one quite late. And nothing happened all night long....I thought, oh dear, I"ll be the first patient to have to reschedule since nothign will come out...I was up all night, sort of waiting......and BLOW ME (literally :lol::lol: ) if it wasn't a freaking, er, fire hydrant starting about 6 am......sometimes I think about taking the Phosphasoda as a weight loss tool - - just kidding. ;)

Sorry about Stinker! Chip had to take something for her joints/arthritis, but I can't remember what it was. I'm pretty sure it wasn't cheap because I bought it at the vet's office. I got a good deal on her meds, but I'm pretty sure it still wasn't cheap...poor thing was on so many meds...hum, kind of reminds me of some of us.

Your experience with the lovely phosphasoda sounds very similar...mine waited until the last minute to take affect...my mom was already at my house and I still had to run upstairs twice...I was very worried about the trip to the surgicenter. Not a huge long distance, but my mom drives SLOW.

There is no established connection between type 2 diabetes and celiac disease. There is a connection with type 1, however, as about 6% of those with type 1 diabetes also have celiac disease. This rate is 6x that of the celiac rate found in the general population. https://celiac.org/about-celiac-disease/related-conditions/diabetes-and-celiac-disease/

Here is a link to the skin version, and the only ingredients are "chicken": https://www.perduefarms.com/en-US/perdue-bone-in-chicken-thighs-pack/60625.html There should also be ingredients and any allergens listed there on the package.

Welcome to the forum, @BeeBarnard! I really can't imagine how either skin or skinless chicken thighs could not be gluten free unless one or the other were treated with some seasoning ingredient that was not gluten free. Do the product labels indicate any additional ingredients added to the meat? Is your daughter a super sensitive celiac? If not, the amount of gluten cross contamination found in seasonings is usually inconsequential.

HI, My daughter was recently diagnosed with Celiac and I would like to make her some chicken soup (she's got he flu). I found all gluten free ingredients but I'm having trouble with the chicken. I purchased Purdue bone-in chicken thighs from BJ's Wholesale Club. Purdue says that they are gluten free but the BJ's website says no. It seems like skin-on chicken is not, but skinless is. Does this seem accurate? Thank you
