YOU KNOW RACHEL..........THIS QUOTE SEEMS TO ME...

"IN MY OPINION' can't forget to add that god forbid!!! "

ROFL...

Ummm yeah...let me rephrase this....it might sound too much like fact...rather than opinion. <_<

"In my opinion....some people CAN overcome their intolerance when properly diagnosed. In my opinion...this would be considered a non-celiac gluten sensitivity.

In my opinion I will eat PIZZA again!! B)

Just to be sure there is no confusion. ;)

And no...I will not be eating pizza tomorrow...I do take my current restrictions seriously and will only indulge when all is clear. I'm waiting for that green light....may take some time...but PIZZA will still be around. :D

Judy....cant get anything by you!!

Thanks for the laugh...

Just got some distressing news ...

I hope this gets resolved. :( I don't know anyone who would be comfortable in that situation.

Everything is progressing, I've come up with a second one, did I mention I am going to produce a line of gluten free foods?

This is great news! :D Can't wait to hear more when the time is right!

..when I'm done here I'm off to shower...then nothing but lay around until my massage. The candles are ready, bubble bath and epsom salts ready, clean jammies ready....

green nail polish...ready! :P

Sounds like a plan :P Have a lovely day, Donna :)

I'm glad you found the culprit. Waiting anxiously to hear how your appointment went. :)

It went fine. I like this doctor--very crisp, business-like demeanor--but I definately got the impression that he knows his stuff. Unfortunately, because of this allergic reaction, he dosen't want to do any bloodwork at all for 2 weeks till all this is out of my system. I made that appt today before I left.

He wants to do a full, fasting workup as well, so we'll see.

This is an allergic reaction, and he feels it is due to the generic med. I asked him why I was suddenly allergic to the active ingredient, and he told me that the active ingredient is not the same as the name brand--it's "close" but not the same. He was not terribly surprised that this happened. <_<

He said it should begin to resolve in about a week. (Probably less if I haden't taken it for 7 days. ) In the meantime, I'm doing Claritin. ;)

Oh, and my BP was very good with only taking the one other med, so he said to try only that until I see him again. Maybe I won't have to go back on the Norvasc at all

I was more happy to hear that my SIL"s sister was pregnant than that she was eating pizza!

I am, too--how wonderful for her. Have a nice time soaking up those rays B)

Just got some distressing news ... a rapist just moved in four doors down. He raped a woman at gunpoint ... we live REALLY close to Head Start ... they came out and measured today to see if he was too close ... keeping my fingers crossed. We're also going to call the owner and give him a piece of our mind!:angry::angry: WHAT could he possibly be thinking???? I ALWAYS check criminal records before I lease to someone! Then again, I'm not a slumlord like this guy is.

That is distressing! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, too. :)

Well.....*I* would not mind......because that rapist would be scared out of his wits by me, as there is a righteous anger I have always carried, from the Holy Spirit, I think....which is why God never allows me into those situations any more (witnessing the evil terrorizizng the powerless), because I could get myself killed......some of you may know my very fearless and vigilante streak, it has gotten me in some trouble over the years. But there is a way of looking, of seeing into the soul of a person like that - - - - they cannot handle the discomfort of it. I have done this many, many times in my life......with choice words to go with it...... And I have seen true fear in men from this. they are rendered powerless and it is a battle of good versus evil at that point, a battle of spirits, if you will. I have had girlfriends over the years who have actually called ME in the middle of the night for a perceived intruder or harassment.....and they know I"ll be there immediately, Iriquois Skull Crusher in hand. Am just wondering now, as I often have, how I can channel that fearlessness into something really productive and beneficial for others......

Carla - - it will be quite important to teach your children, I imagine yours alreayd know this but I have had to teach my nieces and the daughters of friends - - how to walk, make eye contact and carry themselves with power and with NO FEAR, and to look at people so carefully as to be able to give a description - - - the way in which to carry themselves so as not to be victims or be harassed.

 Sorry for my rant......

Patti - - that man sounds like a great doctor!! What good news. So glad you're doing better.

Some one smack me. Silly me went and bought a air conditioner on Sunday. My Sun-in-law and I spent about 4 hours putting it in yesterday. Now there is ice crystals all over the house. Wait got to go put on my snow suit. Ok I am back, the windows are starting to freeze over and I think I am getting frost bite on my nose. Don't know who is more silly me or my wife. Me for going and buying the darn thing or her because she has those female heat flashes. So it has to run 24 / 7, I think she figures we are all having the hot flashes. Ok got to go out side now to thaw out.

Have a great warm day,

Grump,

You sound like a great husband! As someone who's going through those female heat flashes, there's no way I'd get through this summer without an air conditioner.

I know it isn't always easy being the menopause-husband :D Make yourself a nice cup of cocoa, throw on a sweater, and try to stay warm ;)

Gives you lot of time to get the Igenex paperwork sent to you. :D

Sorry you have to wait though......that's a bummer.

It does sound promising that you might be able to drop one med hopefully.

OMGosh- Grump that is HILARIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!! You know you could open a spa in your home and charge admission. My friend was just in Vegas and at the spa at Caesar's they have a room where snow falls! Not very attractive to those of us East Coasters but cool nonetheless! Start chanrging admission- you could open a life-size snow globe! :P :P :P

Patti- Your doctor sounds great! I HATE generic drugs-- they are NOT the same and I am tired of pharamaceutical companies claiming they are. Even though i can't stand michael Moore, I'm glad his new movie is about health care. If nothing else it will bring awareness!

Carla- Thanks for the sauna info!

Susie- I knew you were strong but wow! I would not want to be a bad man staring you down. You go girl!

I hate when you hear that a rapist or pedophile is moving into the area. It's like they have to live somewhere, but why next to Carla? Or any of us for that matter? Where we lived in Portsmouth, there were 10 convicted pedophiles in a one-mile radius. If I had kids, I would have been out of there the day I found that out! I agree with Susie- Carla- arm your kids with pepper spray if you can. That and confidence and knowledge.

I don't like to get political in Rachelville but at least you have 'Megan's Law' in the US allowing you at least to know if your kids are at risk.

There is a huge campaign in the UK for parents here to have the 'right to know' after many, many truly heartbreaking crimes but government keeps blocking it.

Yes, I've taught Morgan as she was becoming a teenager, how to not be a victim.

I took a self-defense class once that taught what you are saying. The teacher said that predators look for victims. He said it might start with, "What time is it?" He said that a man should never ask a woman who is alone this at night, so you should give him some choice words if he does.

Soooo, one time I was walking down the street alone and a business man asked me the time ... because he was so clean cut, I didn't use choice words, but I did say, "Are you serious, don't you know that a gentleman does NOT ask a lady the time after dark?"

Another time, I could hear someone walking behind me, I was getting ready to go into a relatively dark parking lot, so I stopped, turned around, looked him in the eye, then turned around again. He said, "Man, I hope my wife is as careful as you are!" Apparently, I had "the look"!!

But, predators don't want prey that is self-assured like that. Who knows what the outcome would have been in either case had I not been proactive.

But, just got good news, the guy was moving too close to a school, so the sheriff is not letting him move in.

BTW did not know that Michael Moore had a new film on health care, I think t hat should be really eye opening, and he is probably the man to do it...

Update on Stinker's health, full detail is on her "stroke" thread, but, short version - - she is doing SO much better on her fifth day of antibiotic, not really fallign any more, just a bit sideways and confused. Doctor just called, and her thyroid is quite low, poor baby - - so she is going on some meds. That should make her much more comfortable, I am so happy to report.

Grump - you are hilarious - - and I must be mental-pausal also because that ice-crystalled room sounds wonderful! Of course, temps are heading to 100 here - - dang it all....

Just a quick drive by...need to get back to my relaxation, lol.

Just a little hitch in my plan...the therapist at HN called in sick so they had to cancel my massage...BUT, I called the place I usually go to and was able to get in there...so within 45 minutes of the call to cancel, I was on the table. :) I love this place, they are quite good, and the only reason I didn't book here first was because the girl I usually see doesn't work on Mondays or Tuesdays and doesn't work until afternoon. I usually see her on Saturdays, but since BioSET started, I haven't been going. Anyway, the need for massage was great, so I took who was available today, and she was quite good.

So, all deep tissue massaged, nicely bubble epsom salt soaked and now just kicking back...not sure if the green toes will happen today or not...I'll have to play that by ear.

Hi Andrea :) Do you mean - - how to carry yourself, etc? I come by it innately, I think....as a very little girl, if I heard a strange noise in teh house at night, I just got out of bed, FURIOUS, and crept around with an aluminum bat, to find the offender(s). My parents never thought anything of this - well, I'm not even sure they knew....but when I was 13, a man with his pants down came to our kitchen window and was, um, amusing himself.......my mom screamed, freaked out, called the cops - - and guess who ran outside to find the guy, with bat in hand?

It is just sad......that I've had - MANY OF US have - - certain "skills" ( ) or abilities in my life - genetic talents or attributes or whatever - - and never was able to channel them appropriately, really, as my brain was SO messed up and fogged and confused my whole life, until this past year. Maybe I do have Lyme Brain? but from what I've read about that, even, almost nothign of it applies to me.....maybe I"m just really a misfit toy after all..... :( (oh dear, slipping into my unemployment craziness and terror as to what will become of me - - - :o )

Probably a good thing I couldn't become a cop, or something, because most of the miscreants would just cause such a fearsome and holy wrath in me, that I would NOT tolerate it/them......:ph34r:

So, all deep tissue massaged, nicely bubble epsom salt soaked and now just kicking back...not sure if the green toes will happen today or not...I'll have to play that by ear.

You can order pizzas very similar to that at the Risotteria in NY! Thin crust ... we had pesto, feta, and arugula. The bread sticks are to die for ... very salty.

I'll have to find a reason to go to New York. <_<

Celiac, and sensitive to latex, kiwi, avocado, bananas and tapioca. After having a reaction to another Amy’s product (canned chili) which is labeled gluten-free and has no listed tapioca ingredients, I have realized that for those of us who are sensitive to tapioca, it may be even worse than I thought. Not sure if I’ve got this right, but I do know that companies that focus on gluten-free foods use a lot of tapioca. If a certain product doesn’t have any tapioca ingredients, they see no reason to list tapioca or its relatives in the “known allergens” or the “produced in a facility that also uses …..” statement — because it hasn’t been designated a known allergen.  They probably don’t even feel it necessary to apply the kind of Best Practices protocols (extra cleaning) to a production line that may have used tapioca in a previous product. So we may be ingesting tapioca when we are eating something, seemingly tapioca free, produced in a gluten-free dedicated facility. Really discouraging.

Hi Everyone,   I recently purchased this wheatgrass not realizing that it wasn’t gluten free. I had two servings before I got really sick. Abdominal cramps , diarrhea and horrible nausea. My daughter read the label and told me it wasn’t labeled gluten free. I thought this was safe because supposedly it’s healthy. I called WholeFoods and they told me that they can find out more about the product and email me when it was picked and harvested. I was diagnosed back in 2019 and I really should know better! Anyone else had a reaction to wheatgrass powder?
    • emily 1
Yes, unfortunately I was diagnosed about 15 years ago. Some of us I guess the gut never heals and from what I've learned you can actually have a setback which is probably the stage I am at where I actually have become more sensitive to more items.
    • Blue Roan
Hi Emily! I was just diagnosed a year ago and could not touch nuts, corn (or anything with corn-based ingredients), lactose, or black pepper in the first 8 or so months. Otherwise I had a lot of abdominal discomfort, dizziness/vertigo (especially with corn and pepper) and inflammation throughout the body. I was pretty much eating plain cooked veggies and chicken for the first few months because they were safe and reliable.  Over time, I have slowly started to tolerate some of the no-no foods, but my system is still sensitive to the pepper and has a limit to corn/lactose before symptoms occur. When you’re first diagnosed, you will likely be sensitive to a lot of other foods because your gut is healing from the damage and your body needs to reset. I find that keeping a food diary  and only slowly introducing other foods back into your diet over time is helpful. It is frustrating to feel so limited, but give it some time and patience. It can take the gut years to fully heal in many cases.

Hi there, I am 30 and was diagnosed with celiac almost a year ago after a series of severe “unexplained” abdominal episodes. Everything is improving and I am feeling so much better overall except my cycle is worse. Has anyone else had a similar experience?  I got my period as a pre-teen and my cycles have been regular for as long as I can remember: every 21 days, lasting 5 days. My periods were heavy and I always had severe cramping at the start that subsided after the first two days.  I went gluten-free immediately when I was diagnosed in February. At first, my cycles were the same but around July, I started noticing very crazy symptoms around that time of the month: chills all over the body, severe headaches, some hot flashes, dry mouth and then cramps starting a few days earlier than usual. My cycles also started happening later and later. This time around, I’m on Day 35 and no period so far, but still cramping/abdominal pain/nausea on and off for the past week. It has been feeling like it’s about to happen any minute but nothing. I even get the pelvic contractions/pains but nothing after. I cannot sleep from all the hormonal fluctuations and chills. I can confirm I am not pregnant.  I’ve seen the endocrinologist, OBGYN, primary, and multiple gastro doctors throughout the year. No IBD ( but possible IBS), thyroid panel normal, thyroid ultrasound normal, negative for Hashimoto’s. I had a full vitamin panel and all levels normal (no anemia or vitamin B deficiency). After some testing, the gyn thinks PCOS is highly unlikely and that my body is “still adjusting” to going gluten-free. I’ve been strict gluten-free for nearly a year though.   All of my regular labs are normal and my antibodies are on a downward trend. I am really confused because more of my research points to the gluten-free diet resulting in better cycles rather than the opposite. While my cycles are not as heavy, they’re more unpredictable and uncomfortable with all these new symptoms.
