Dear Mia,

Foodcentric is a great way to describe it! I certainly feel my life revolves around cooking, cleaning, and eating!

I know that you being one of our chefs in Rachelville leaves us in capable hands! :) We will not starve! Plus, we will be eating healthily and enjoying it!

Dear Rinne,

I am sorry you lost touch with your friend. Maybe you will find each other again. I hope you get back in touch. You have so much in common with each other! It would be good for you to be able to talk again with her.

I definitely feel better when I eat meat. I do not notice a reduction in sugar cravings, though. I am doing better on my consumption. I have reduced my intake. Sugar has addictive properties.

Dear Rinne, Carla, tom, and Donna,

I am glad that others have this issue with sound. I wondered if anyone else dealt with that. This is really problematic when you are trying to sleep at times. Everything sounds so amplified. RiceGuy said he has very sensitive hearing and taste abilities, and was curious if it could be a Celiac thing, too. It is an interesting question to explore.

Dear Carla,

Maybe it is a parent thing, then. I hope I do not do that to my children. I will not say I won't, because you know how that always ends up. Anytime you say you will not act like your parents, you end up doing the exact same thing! I prefer to not make any promises I cannot keep!

Dear Patti,

Peat moss is what that is processed on? How weird is that? I had no idea they could or ever would use peat moss for that type of thing. Who knew? That means it is a go for you! That is good!

Dear tom,

I already tried all of that stuff at once, and it was a bad idea! It was a nasty shock to my system. I think going more gradually would be wiser in my case. I probably have a worse case of it than some people due to my history. I was on anywhere between 2 to 4 courses of antibiotics per year from birth until the age of seventeen.

I was also on steroids for asthma from the age of ten until I was seventeen. Also, at seventeen, I had to start birth control for cysts on my ovaries. I have been on the shots since, due to the pill not doing the job at all. There were more cysts instead of less as a result of the pill. The shot was the only thing that helped.

After having my gallbladder removed, my symptoms did not go away. The doctor suspected h. pylori. The Helidac Therapy is extremely hard on your body, because you take three or four different antibiotics at once for at least two weeks.

I ended up doing the therapy for four times longer than most people (a total of 2 months). That was near the end of 2004.

You can imagine the shape my system was in after that. That does not include courses since for sinus infections and a course of Flagyl I did last November. I was feeling great until I did that. I had began the gluten-free diet in August, and was

feeling really good up until then. That is why I prefer not shocking my system. My first attempt was really miserable.

Sincerely,

Jin

Popping to say hi. Hope everyone is doing Ok. Actually feel semi-human today! Took a good two hour nap.

It's so funny- all this talk of alcohol has made me realize I don't even want to touch it. I think the Lyme bacteria is a form of Antabuse. I've noticed I crave caffeine a lot less and CANNOT drink enough water. Weird...I used to have to force myself to drink it.

Jin- Me likey your artwork! :D

Rachel- YEAH! You got a sauna....please put it through all the cycles before racheling your spaceship. :P :P :P :P :P :P

Everyone else- Hi!

Bev,

Forgot to comment on this earlier.......

You mentioned how talkative us westerners are, but there are times I've come on in the morning and found you easterners have yakked away. Along with Rachel since she gets up so awfully early. :P Wait a minute.......it's probably mostly Rachel's fault with her mile long posts. :P:lol:

J/K Love your posts Rachel. :D

Blah blah blah. It's because we're on the RIGHT coast :P :P Look at Nikki- she's getting up when y'all are goping to bed and it's CLEAR that you guys are much more VERBOSE.

Maybe it's a lyme or mercury or toxin thing.

You have been through a lot in your life......especially for one so young.

Dear Bev,

I am glad you are feeling better today! Semi-human is good! :D:lol: I am also glad you like my artwork! Wolvie looks like he is just going to jump out and get you, doesn't he? He gets a bit grumpy, watch him!

Dear Andrea,

Everyone always cannot believe how much I have been through at my age. They all say "But you are so young!" It is like "Yep, but despite that, I have been through some bodacious scat!" Maybe the sound sensitivity is a Lyme thing.

I do not know about mercury, but it could be.

I had immunizations for everything when I was young. They had thimersol back then in them. I also eat a lot of fish. Another thing is, my mother does have metal fillings. I might have gotten some while she carried me.

I used contacts prior to mercury being removed from some of the formulas. I began wearing them ten years ago. Who was it that said mercury was not removed from the formulas until 1998? I do not have any metal fillings. I got a root canal last year, and had a composite filling. I told them I did not want any metal in my mouth!

Sincerely,

Jin

Jin

Loud noises make me jump to and nauseous like when someone has the flu.

I also have been ssooo sleepy and sluggish, pale, circles under eyes, and teeth are turning brown, why I don't know.

Hey rachel

I was fine with lights till they started taking the fillings out. What happened? I didn't go to the dentist yesterday because I was so sick. DOn't have another appointment till july 12. But I think that might be best so Maybe I can get some mercury out or something?

I have a appointment with the new doc on the 23 I think but she might call me at home. The receptionist is going to give her my phone number so she can call me she was toxic at one time too.

My mom looked at me and started crying yesterday. I look like an AIDS patient or someone from the concentration camps. I look scary. Can you die from this?

What is the diffenece between detox and chelate. They seem the same to me.

Oh I forgot Rachel what was the company you use for minerals you posted? I cant remember. Oh wait I remember now caridovascular research. The vitamin shoppe has

Comprehensive minerals liquid nothing added by Source Naturals. Would this be o.k. you think?

It's 30 bucks though for a 16 oz bottle. :o

take care

lisa

...

Don't forget I am the chef of rachelville !!

....

Never, I am so impressed by the effort you make with meals. I think you make a really good point when you said how important it is to have food that you feel good about eating. :)

....

I don't know that that counts for chocolate though. We all (me with a mouse in my pocket? ) know how addicting chocolate can be.

:o:lol:

Any chance of getting back in touch with her?

I've tried a few times in the past couple of years without success. It was not unusual for us to go for a year or so without talking but then I would generally be travelling to her part of the world and I would see her. I haven't been there for nearly four years now. Clearly I have been thinking of her and may try again.

Rinne....for mercury detox you need to eat high protein as well.

One Dr. (and I forget which one right now) had said that he was never able to successfully detox someone who was vegetarian. They just dont get better on that diet because you need the protein to detox.

....

Thanks Rachel, that's good to know.

Dear Mia,

Foodcentric is a great way to describe it! I certainly feel my life revolves around cooking, cleaning, and eating!

I agree. :)

Jin, what an ordeal. :( Clearly you have a very bright spirit to be shining through all the misery you've had to deal with.

My mom looked at me and started crying yesterday. I look like an AIDS patient or someone from the concentration camps. I look scary. Can you die from this?

I'm really concerned about you.

And I'm concerned about your Mom.

I hope that this doctor you will see on the 23rd is helpful. :)

AndreaB Contributor
I'm really concerned about you.

I'm very concerned about you too Lisa. I just don't know what to offer for help. :(

If your father was willing to foot the bill to see Dr. Klinghardt we'd open up our home to you though. He's (his clinic) about 3 hours north of us. Also Dr. Amy that Rachel sees down in Cali is about 3 hours north of us.

I see some are feeling better today and some are not.

My best wishes to those who aren't that they feel better tomorrow!

And in the meantime, I gotta plant myself firmly in the BETTER camp!

I can barely believe it. It's like best since maybe Oct'05!

I'm loving music again. (I mean *reeeaaaalllly* loving - lookin like a lunatic at stoplights). Enjoyed the hell out errands(!) even and wish I could break out the sax RIGHT NOW! (Prob not the best idea in these apts - I play loud.)

And this is even after making a bit of a fool of myself in an email to Pseu-zee!! hehehehe ;)

But hey - SHE called ME! (Oh dingy u were gonna tell 'em anyway, if u hadn't already!)

Aaaaanyway I feel Better than James Brown!!

rinne Apprentice

Lisa, if I haven't dingo'd what I've read then you are living at home, yes?

May I ask how old you are? Please don't feel like you have to answer, I just have the feeling that you are young and this seems like a very large problem to be dealing with for someone who is young.

I am glad that your father has agreed to pay for treatment but I am wondering if he understands that alternative treatments may be best suited so that you may detox?

Rachel's mom, Cheryl, comes by to visit occasionally and I am wondering if your Mom would like to too. :)

Uh-oh this better not turn into anything like that East Coast / West Coast rapper beef.

I already pawned the mac9 & tek10, and the uzi needs repair!

You mean my mom visit on the computer. She is afraid of computers. She only comes on here to look and see if she has money in the bank it pay for stuff for me and that's all. She needs a magnifying glass to read things. Oh and my age, I am 34 years old and I weigh about 89 or 90 pounds.

Oh Lisa- HUGS! Honestly, before I went gluten-free and they were "trying" to figure out what was wrong with me, I looked the same as you. Looking back, I think it was a combination of Lyme and gluten intolerance.

My sis and hubby saw me in a johnny on the way to my CT scan and they thought I was going to die. It was very scary. :( :(

I'm so glad that your dad is going to pay for your treatments. please tell your mom to pop in or you can tell us (if she doesn't want to type) what she wants to say.

Andrea's offer is a good one.

Yes, very worried about both Mia and Lisa! Feel a bit helpless!

I bought a sound conditioner machine for my room so I would at least have a constant sound. In the summer I use a fan, but had to have something for winter when it's too cold for a fan. So far it's working out pretty good.

I'm loving music again. (I mean *reeeaaaalllly* loving - lookin like a lunatic at stoplights). Enjoyed the hell out errands(!) even and wish I could break out the sax RIGHT NOW! (Prob not the best idea in these apts - I play loud.)

Lisa, i certainly hope that you find some answers. As many symptoms as you have, you definitely need to be under medical care, so im happy you are getting it. you efinitely need to know the root cause of all of this.

hugs to you, mia. I'm hoping this weekend to sit down and have some time to catch up...and you are on my list.

i think the 'youngins' on this thread (well, minus Morgan!) are Mia, myself, and Jin. I can't remember about Julie though...

but what does it truly matter....i think everyone is so young at heart here

carla, what is the mepron like?

Laura, I'm a youngin' too--I'm 27.

It's nice not to be the only youngin'!

Lisa, I hope you find your answers soon. I'm very sorry that you're so ill and wish I could offer more comfort.

There's not currently much room for teasing here w/ too many serious issues goin' on.

I thought that you had quoted Klinghardt on that one. :)

Nope....it was Hal Huggins. I would have remembered Klinghardt. :)

Found it...

Dietary protein provides another detoxifying agent by binding with heavy metals. Surprisingly, experience by Huggins has shown that vegetable protein is less effective in its ability to detoxify. The three dimensional forms of vegetable and animal protein molecules are slightly different, both doing similar, but not identical jobs. Huggins states that he has never been able to completely cure a vegetarian.

Klinghardt does recommend high protein diet in his detoxification protocol.

Talk to your  Talk to your provider about testing for vitamin and mineral deficiency.  celiac disease causes malabsorption and eventually malnutrition.  Especially vitamin D. Having the gallbladder removed seems to be a common step on the way to a Celiac Disease Diagnosis,  Gallbladder is a sympton of deficient Choline. Eggs and red meat are the primary source..Choline makes up a majority of the bile salts.  The bile gets thick, doesn't get enough into intestine to digest fats well.  Can eventually back up into gallbladder, cause gallstones.  Without bile, bowel movements can become hard. Try to avoid all processed foods while you are healing, The gluten-free foods are not fortified with vitamins and use various ingredients to mimic fat that bothers many Celiacs.  Choose vegatables with low omega 6.  Optimum omega 6 to omega 3 ratio is less than 3:1.  Wheat flour is 22:1.  Grass fed milk is 1:1.   Commercial Dairies milk is 5:1.  They feed wheat, rye and barley Gluten as part of the food mix.

Your DGP-G is also high. The thing to do now would be to trial the gluten-free diet for a few months to see if there is improvement in symptoms.
    • trents
Welcome to the forum, @Roses8721! How long were you off gluten before getting the celiac blood testing done? The testing is not valid after having been gluten free for a significant period of time. Many of your symptoms align with celiac disease.

Hello, I am feeling frustrated. I have hEDS and lifelong digestive issues but my GI PA is very focused on my celiac panel and I just want to make sure that she should be focused on that because completely changing my diet seems to have worsened my symptoms.  Symptoms are constipation, diarrhea, and acid reflux with spicy foods and certain foods like tomatoes, bell peppers, and onions. I also don't have a gallbaldder as it was removed almost a year ago. This also exacerbated my symptoms. I did have joint pain from hEDS but that was already treated with low dose naltrexone about 4 months prior to going completely gluten free. Endoscopy was abnormal but inconclusive; basically showed some inflammation - which common with hEDS. I don't have any vitamin deficiency.   Celiac Panel Results: TTG-A <0.5 U/ML Reference Range: 0.5-14.9 U/ML NEGATIVE: <15 POSITIVE: =>15 DGP-A 72.0 U/ML Reference Range: 0.2-14.9 U/ML NEGATIVE: <15 POSITIVE: =>15 TTG-G <0.8 U/ML Reference Range: 0.8-14.9 U/ML NEGATIVE: <15 POSITIVE: =>15 DGP-G 24.0 U/ML Reference Range: 0.4-14.9 U/ML NEGATIVE: <15 POSITIVE: =>15 IgG-A-M Results: IMMUNOGLOBULIN A, QN, SERUM 165 MG/DL Reference Range: 87-352 MG/DL IMMUNOGLOBULIN M, QN, SERUM 164 MG/DL Reference Range: 26-217 MG/DL   What are your thoughts, internet? Are there any questions I should be asking the PA? Thanks!
