So don't go all Secret Service on me again everyone, but Rachel - details? Hehehehehe :lol:

:lol:

No worries Saxy Spice. ;)

I think Andrea explained it pretty well...but yeah...now that I'm re-thinking the whole thing <_< ...there is still no freaking way I could eat 1/4 a donut!! :blink:

Hmmm...I did show restraint though. The sauna was feeling really good and I was just starting to break a sweat when the timer went off. I totally ignored the "bad angel" on my shoulder who keeps telling me "More is better!!"...and I stepped out of the sauna. :D

Basically if "carla'ing" has to be the exact equivolent of eating 1/4 donut per week... (Holy cow Carla are you insane?? :P ).......then I will never qualify for a legitimate Carla'ing.

Just being honest with myself... and I can honestly say it aint gonna happen. I would rather eat NO donuts (as I've been doing for 2 years now) then torture myself with 1/4 of a donut. :P

Which one of you (Rachel I think?) said that The only way through this is through it? I would love to go under it, but no such luck :P

LOL...

Ummm...actually it was "The only way out...is the way through." :lol:

It was a quote from Dr. Klinghardt in regards to mercury detox. The only way it can be excreted is to go through the pathways of elimination. If things are not functioning well in the body...the mercury is not gonna be able to get through....hence...the only way out is the way through. ;)

Unfortunately, going under doesnt appear to be an option with this one. :P

I do hope you get to go to Ireland though!! I'm rooting for you!! :D

Rachel! How about "The Spiceship" ! :lol:

YEAH!! The Spiceship....its perfect!!! B)

Ok...this is "Scientific Spice"....reporting to the SpiceShip....launch time will be at appoximately 4:00 pm.

I will reach final destination and disembark the Spiceship at approximately 4:05 p.m.

At that time the Spiceship will be folded up and put away. :P

Sorry I can't help relocate the alien baby for ya! :lol:

And you call youself an exterminator?? <_<

Harumph!!

One of the things I kept coming across yesterday in my searing was the alien baby. :lol:

Yup...I'm thinking the alien baby was quite active during that time. Perhaps thats when the alien baby was first discovered on ultrasound?? :unsure:

Um, Siough-zee feels MUCH MUCH better already. ;)

and can I just say, I think one definition of insanity WOULD be eating 1/4 of a doughnut. OMG, almost even a distinct form of torture, in certain regions of the world (like, my house).

back to recline. am happy to report, Percocet DOES take me to my magic place........ ha ha ha ha

:rolleyes:

rachel no rachelling the spice ship, do you hear???

Re: carla-ing

I did call it community-defined and I don't know if my whoop-dee-doo 2week tenure even qualifies me to vote! :lol:

(Kinda like the House Representative from D.C. - except that position has existed probably for generations)

This newly-whirrin' soy-free noggin just enjoys a good debate. :D

Right now the best part may be that I'm starting to worry a lot less about being struck by the "algernon effect". :P

Rachel--24 Collaborator
I have heard of people who have been on ABX for Lyme for years. :o The IV aspect of it I find really scary. I also worry that so many of these people diagnosed with Lyme and treated simply with ABX are going to find themselves getting sicker from the mercury and candida. :(

I definately would be concerned about using ABX alone for treatment. I dont think antibiotics will ever be included in my treatment plan. If anything it would be near the end of treatment when heavy metals are no longer an issue.

People seem to to best when they address all the issues and focus on detoxification....alongside the Lyme treatment. I do see some people making a bad situation worse with ABX alone.

Another concern is that the majority of those people are toxic from heavy metals....so the ABX is causing bad "herx" reactions...which in part is caused by the metals being released and circulating through the body. Then this would likely cause some yeast overgrowth...to control the metals...and you just end up in a viscious cycle.

The practitioners doing ART see heavy metal toxicty in pretty much EVERY case where there is chronic Lyme. They definately go hand-in-hand. Getting rid of the Lyme is a much harder (and longer) fight when there are metals in the body. Also the chance for relapse is very high if underlying issues like heavy metals dont get addressed.

I think most people seem to be agreement that metals (esp. mercury) plays a big role in the fight against Lyme.

I probably would be more inclined to wonder about ABX treatment for myself had it not been for my 2 weeks of hell on Metronidazole last year. HEINOUS. :blink:

It was the worst two weeks I've had in the past 2 years. Trust me....I'm in no rush to go back to that! :P

I remember waking up and the entire room was spinning...I couldnt walk...had to hold onto the walls...major nausea, depression, worse chemical sensitivities, brainfog, blurred vision, etc. I didnt know what it was at the time...thought maybe I'd been glutened by the meds! :blink:

Now, I'm fairly certain I was releasing metals and having major candida flare-ups....so thats why I'll refrain from the ABX for a long long time. :ph34r: That scared me pretty good.

I think most of us here have LLMD'S who are also addressing the other issues that tend to go with Lyme but I see alot of people on LymeNet *just* taking antibiotics....nothing else. I think thats a bad idea. :(

Good news Andrea!!!

Did you try to see Dr. Amy......is she gonna be around at all?

Ok, I made an appointment with Dr. Elizabeth for Talitha at the end of the month. We have to leave the house by 6:30 and we don't usually get up until 7:30-8:00. :ph34r:

I can't wait to hear all about how my buddy Talitha does! I hope it's a very productive appointment. :)

Yay!

Can't wait to hear about it. Um, I can call you...I get up at 4:20! :P Heck by 7:30 I've eaten two times already. :lol:

:lol: I'm not even conscious at 4:30!

:lol:

I totally ignored the "bad angel" on my shoulder who keeps telling me "More is better!!"...and I stepped out of the sauna. :D

That wasn't me--I promise :unsure:

Carla,

Yeah I know the mercury is hiding something from me. And that would be the truth. :P

Maybe it's Lyme to or alien parasites. Maybe I'm not constipated maybe it's eating my food.

Im scaring myself. :o

Spiceship oh come on something better. How about Lymerdida. Yeah lyme+mercury+candida=lymerdida. Has a latin flare to it huh? Lymerdida Guadalupe.

They are trying SOOOOO hard to make me work at work today...harumpf!!!! I am having no part in it!

I can just see myself driving up there half asleep. According to mapquest it's almost 2 1/2 hours from here. Taking traffic into account I'll give it 3, course you guys are used to traffic arent' you?

I will definately have to abdicate the computer to hubby and go to bed early that night. Right now I've talked to his boss about having that day off. Mom's on vacation till the 24th so I don't know if she's able to watch the other two yet or not. I'd like Mitch to be able to see how this goes too.

Did I mention that it's an ART appointment? Dr. Elizabeth is Dr. Amy's partner.

You didn't, but somehow that's what I thought it was...I am so excited! Yeah, used to flippin traffic...had two bad drivers this morning...how can you have traffic at 5:30 in the morning when there's no cars on the road. :lol:

Dear Bev,

I am glad you like The Godmother! :) I love your new avatar, too! That squirrel is so cute! We used to have one that came up and ate out of our bird feeder. His name was Skippy. The birds would peck at our window and cry and tell on him! :lol:

That list of things to do when we get well is a great idea! I am going to start working on mine! There are so many things! I do not know where to begin! The pajama party sounds great, too!

Sorry to hear you are still feeling rough. Those herxes are difficult. Flares are like that, too. There seem to be good and bad days with every illness. With Lyme, the bad ones just seem more frequent! :(

Dear Rachel and Bev,

Alien babies! That explains everything! :lol: Four years of carrying an evil alien from outerspace in your body can lead to serious issues. Call Will Smith! It is Independence Day! ;)

Dear Rachel,

Slayer Spice is happy Rachel loves her avatar! :) Hopefully, I will get to do more artwork soon. There are so many things you can do in a day. Unfortunately, most of them are things like dishes and studying Finance. I am planning on making more of my girls soon! Dollface is who I will probably work on next.

Wow, that is a lot of detox info! I found that interesting about vegetarians not being able to chelate. I would not make it as a vegetarian! I am a carnivore! I get sick and weak when I do not eat meat.

I have never been fishing. I cannot stand worms! :ph34r: They are icky! I admire brave women like you that can handle them! Those things are freaky!

Congratulations on Carla-ing your sauna! :) It sounds like you really enjoyed it. Maybe you will be able to move up to a longer steam after a while. I am sure that will make you very untoxic! Meanwhile, we are anxious to hear about the results from Dr. Amy. Do you have any idea when they will come back?

Dear Andrea,

I hope my story can be published as well! I have to make sure to copywrite it first. I am nervous about sending things to Marvel. The submission form pretty much states that they will steal your ideas. It says that any future characters or storylines that resemble yours are purely coincidental and Marvel is not legally responsible for this. :rolleyes: Oh yeah, I was just dropped on this planet yesterday and am gonna send in my work for them to make Millions from it while I just get screwed! I don't think so! B)

Dear tom,

I wish my villi were like that as well! I have a bad feeling they aren't judging by my gastrointestinal distress! It is something to strive for with diet, though! :) You do understand the slang, too! Carla-ing something is showing extreme self-restraint.

I love Spiceship for Rachel's sauna! :P That is perfect! You know how you were talking about Carla only eating a bite of a doughnut? I could never do that either! :lol: I am a lot like Monk. I have this thing with symmetry. Odd numbers often bother me, too.

Dear Susie,

Bella is interesting. She is smart, too. So are the others. Wait until you learn about Nina "Nightshade" Nucci, or Dana "Dollface" Malone! They have quite a story, too!

I am anxious to see your pic of your new hairstyle. I may be getting my hair done soon, too! It is a drastic change.

I am very nervous. However, it might do me good!

You are not old, either! The guy I love (my favorite soap actor) is your age! That is rediculous! You are only old if you believe it. Do not make yourself old by saying so.

My mother wants grandchildren, too. I told her, I want to meet the right guy first. I am probably going to adopt. The health issues I have had are not a good thing to pass on! Right now, my mother is just going to have to settle for Dart! :lol: It is weird, he burps like me even! :blink:

Dear Lisa,

That was hilarious! You are Freddy Mercury Spice for a reason! It fits nicely! Hopefully, you are feeling a little better!

Mercury can really make your system crazy. Lymerdida Guadalupe! :lol:

Dear Donna,

You are going to rachel Bumble Bars!? :unsure: Do you remember what happened last time? Be careful! Racheling foods is not a good idea. I am proud to say I have done better about that lately.

Thank you for the information on the sound machine. I was surpised. I expected that thing to be more expensive. It was priced fairly low. Maybe I could get one sometime!

It would be great if you got the chance to put some snippets up. We would all enjoy that. Those who were not here then could get some good laughs, too! They missed out on some of that! It is hard to believe that was six months or more ago!

Dear Rinne,

Age is great when it comes to grandchildren. A lot of people say grandchildren made such an amazing difference in their lives. My mother whines about not having grandchildren. My brother does not want to marry. He is not even into dating.

I want to marry, and have children. Right now, I really need to be well before any of that happens! Naturally, she is thinking about herself! I would be afraid for my children to stay with her. They would be fed junk food!

Dear Grump,

I think you could finish the boat and get to go out. It just is going to take some time. Do what you can when you are able. Do not do anymore than your body allows. I am sure you and your son will get out on the water and have fun soon!

Dear Carla,

Thank you for the Lyme article! That guy's story is so familiar. I have suffered for so long. I think the Flagyl stirred up the bugs. That is the only thing I could figure. I tolerated Flagyl before, why wouldn't I then?

Chloe's test results are somewhat confusing. Of course, IND pretty much is just inconclusive. That means they cannot tell one way or another. It is not positive, but it is not negative either. I think she could still have it.

Dear Judy,

Have you made any headway with your doctor? Or is he still being difficult? I called about IgeniX yesterday. She has not gotten to check it out yet. This is driving me nuts!

Dear Alison,

Hey, you need a Spice Girl name, too! I am trying to think of one that fits you. How about Kosher Spice? That is the only one I can think of at the moment! Or, Friendly Spice! I know...Sleuth Spice! :) That would fit how you solve people's problems and help them figure out what is making them sick!

Dear Charlie,

I am glad to hear you are doing a bit better. ABX seems to be pretty hard on the system. In the beginning it probably is much worse. Balance problems are something I already have. I never used to be like that. Keep us posted on your progress!

Dear Patti,

Are you doing any better today? That Philosophy stuff really did a number on you! I am not sure if I have been getting cc'd or what. The past couple days my stomach has been hurting. It could be something else, too. I ate a lot of that creamed corn, and ate a whole jar of this GV pasta sauce with meat the other day.

Sincerely,

Jin

Did you try to see Dr. Amy......is she gonna be around at all?

Both were available but Dr. Elizabeth is easier to schedule with. They've both spent a great deal of time with Klinghardt. I'm sure if Dr. Amy has more knowledge about any treatment we would need that we would be able to see her.

I told the receptionist that I didn't want to put T through a challenge test if she didn't really have a problem with mercury. They do different treatments up there so I may just go through them.....we'll see.

I'm thinking I might want to go through an analysis before and after my removal to see what changes and also to see what my body would like to be on to help with clean up during that process.

No, no, not intending to Rachel Bumble Bars YET...that was something Bev mentioned as possible things to do when we get "well". :lol: Although, I DO look at them every time I open that cabinet. :P

I ran out of energy for the snippets thing today...everytime I get started someone brings me work.

~~~
I have decided I will relax the rest of the day. I think it's time for an Epsom salt bubble bath soak this evening...toes need one more coat of metallic watermelon pink, then into the tub to soak, then I shall don one of my new pairs of slipper--purple or lime...that is the question. :lol:
Dear Donna,
Oh, you meant when you get well you will rachel Bumble Bars! I do that where I go to the cabinet and stare at things I wish I could eat! It is so awful! You think "If only I was not Celiac..." or "If only I was not intolerent to...(fill in the blank)." There are days you want things so bad, and it drives you nuts!
Dear Andrea,
We hope they do not do the challenge with T, either. With children, I think they should be cautious. If they do not need to, I do not see why they should. I really do not recommend people putting them through colonoscopies or endoscopies. Those procedures are hard on your body. If the child is already sick, I feel trying to diet is the best way to go.
Sincerely,
Jin
Darn just not sure about all this quote stuff. Not sure if I am doing it right or not but here is goes. If it does not turn out sorry. Then how you all do so many at one time is real baffling to me. But guess I will just do it like this.
Grumpster, Rachel, Bev, whoever else, YES, let's go fishing!!!! I love to fish....fished with my best friend up at our cabin all through childhood and beyond, we never caught ONE SINGLE THING, and oh, do you suppose it might have had to do wtih the fact that we used whatever was around for bait??? (brownies, cheese, chewing gum :lol: :lol: :lol:)
Hello to ALL of you, :wub: anyone I didn't address.......
Looks as though I might need to go get a new boat if we are all going to go fishing. How big do you think I will need to get? I am betting by the time every one decides to get aboard it is going to have to be a big one. Oh dang I see an other mortgage coming, lol
To mtngod.
The baby theory is very interesting. Here all this time I just thought I was getting FAT from my wifes cooking, or maybe the pants were just shrinking in the was. But this may explain some or most of the discomfort, and cravings I have, :rolleyes:
Hope you all have GREAT day
:lol: Well, I've never fished, but I like boats, so I'll go too!
And, about the multiple quoting thing...when you read a post you want to respond to, look towards the bottom of that particular post...off to the right there is a "reply" and a "quote" button...hit the quote button then go on reading...if you see another post you want to respond to hit the "quote" button on that post. When you have read and hit quote for all the posts you want to reply to, hit "add reply"...all of the stuff you hit the "quote" button for will show in the window. Each separate post will have quote tags around it which look like this:
[ quote ]text[ /quote ]
but without the spaces between the brackets and text. Leave those in, but delete out any text from the message you don't want, then type your response right below it.
Sorry, that's probably clear as mud!
If you want to do just one reply to one post at a time, instead of the quote button hit reply right below the post you are reading...that will quote the whole post and then you can reply below it.
Dear Grump,
I think we will need a pretty good sized boat! There are quite a few of us on here. It needs to accomodate at least 15 people! :lol: Perhaps a yacht would be better. Maybe if one of us wins the lottery! ;)
That alien baby could very well be your trouble! They can make you fat! All of those odd cravings for things, and the weight gain seem to go hand-in-hand! It is just like in the Coneheads movie, when Jane Curtain eats toilet paper. Alien babies are nothing but trouble!
Dear tom,
I like your new avatar! Those are beautiful fish! We used to have quite a few. At one time, we had seven aquariums! We had all types. There was an African Knife fish, Silver Dollars, Kissers, an Oscar, even catfish (one of which lived 13 years!) Betas were also among our favorites that we had quite a few of!
Dear Lisa,
Beam me up! :lol: I wish I had thought of that! That was so funny! :lol: Aliens might be able to fix us. They seem to know more than doctors do!
Dear Donna,
AWWWW! That Yorkie puppy is so adorable! I had to copy and save that one! My mother would love that picture!
Dart looked like a little badger when we brought him home. He had this black stripe across his eyes like a raccoon!
Hey everyone how are you?
Okay so now I found the culprit to the diarrhea madness that I had on Tuesday. MAGNESIUM CITRATE! It wasn't fly away pringles or mold, it was that. And I took a whole tablespoon of it today. UGH diarrhea and thunderstorm sounding guts AGAIN!
The other day it was magnesium citrate tablets and I thought they had gluten in them so I took them back. I mean I want to go but this is ridiculous. Im going to end up dehydrating myself. EGAD. SO how is that Oxypowder stuff coming along? Hope it doesn't have magnesium citrate.
I guess they say magnesium citrate helps build cells again and eliminates toxins in the body. I don't know if this is a good think. What do you think Captain Rachel?
tabasco32 Apprentice
Oh my God, the pain. They say to take a half teaspoon and I took a tablespoon. Hope I live through this it hurts so bad, and going every 3 minutes. HELP
Well, I've been pretty familiar w/ celiac and candida for a good long time. I think it must've been Lyme/mercury posts.
Just in case, I learn a little every day. :)
      Thanks for sharing, Karen. Certainly a needed reminder what we already knew (and I've posted many times on this forum) but sometimes forget, namely, autoimmune disorders tend to cluster. Where one is found, you can look for others to show up eventually. The thing that is unusual in your son's case is the onset of several of them at such a young age. My sister in law, who is in her early 60's has Crohn's and struggles with constipation so I don't think that is unusual with Crohn's. If nothing else, it's the outcome of not eating much because of the pain. Now that you know what is going on with your son and the Crohn's, we hope he is beginning to improve.
    • Nathan.
      Hi there. My son is turning 16 this month. He had an endoscopy and biopsy to confirm celiac. He went gluten-free and his pain never got any better. I think it got worse. Months went by. The pain started around 7th grade. He missed a lot of school in 8th grade, and a whole lot in 9th grade. He couldn't go to school in 10th grade. All along the gastroenterologist prescribed Hyoscyamine, didn't help at all. Cyproheptadine, no less pain. Peppermint oil, ginger, Miralax, Senna. Doc said he was constipated, but I couldn't get him to have Miralax daily. Eventually he went on Linzess and no senna or Miralax. Sorry this is long, there will be a point.  We gave his school not just a doctors not, but everything, and U of M makes a lot of notes. They still turned us in for Truancy.  I didn't get him enrolled in online school fast enough.  The school would not recommend an online school and i didn't know which one to choose.  Doc thought it was nerve pain and mental. He recommended the u of m my pain program.  Nathan did so good, 3 days a week supposed to be for 4 weeks.  Never missed, always on time.   After two weeks, they discharged him. Said it was not  benefitting him.  Pain went on. I had been asking if there were any other test they could do. Ultrasound, colonoscopy. Doc said we can do it, but I don't think we'll find anything.  Finally he had a colonoscopy and another endoscopy.  Guess what, they did find something. They found a ton of tiny ulcers everywhere, from the esophagus to his rectum. They think Crohn's. I understand they didn't check for that because he was more constipated, not much diarrhea. He is getting an MRI with contrast on Sunday. Also they want him to do a cal-protectin (give a poop sample). Then an appointment on the 16th to talk about treatment. Then the probation officer on the 17th. In the meantime he is taking Budesonide extended release.  $276.00 for 30 pills, and that's with insurance. Also he was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism, Graves disease a few months ago. If it is for sure Crohn's,  it will be three autoimmune diseases. If someone is gluten-free for a month or more, and the pain is no better, don't stop looking. I was beside myself. Did they think he was exaggerating, lying? I was considering taking him to a holistic doctor, who would probably recommend Peppermint oil and ginger.  He's such a good kid. Kind of an introvert. He was on the 9th grade soccer team. He would try to go to practice and kept having to stop, the pain was that bad. Every time he ate, it didn't matter what, gluten-free chicken tenders, mac and cheese, pizza, ice cream, all gluten-free, he would eat a normal amount but stop and say, I can't eat anymore, my stomach hurts.  If anyone reads all this, thank you. I had a gut feeling, no pun intended, that he had an additional problem. They found celiac and stopped looking. If you don't feel better, keep on your doctor to check further, keep looking.   Take care, Karen
      I think it takes different people different amounts of time, but in my own case I had pain,  bloating and loose stools for some time, exacerbated by a lactose intolerance, which eventually went.  I would say the really bad diarrhea got better quite quickly, but the bloating pain carried on for a few months, until I was told to give up lactose for a few weeks.  That helped enormously and once I realised milk and yoghurt was the cause, after a short break I went back to lactose very gradually and felt a lot better.  Now I can tolerate it well. From Coeliac UK "The enzyme lactase is found in the brush border of the small intestine. This is why people with coeliac disease can be deficient in lactase at diagnosis. Once established on a gluten free diet, the gut is able to heal and lactose digestion returns to normal. Lactose intolerance is therefore usually temporary." So if this helps your daughter, this doesn't mean you have to give up lactose forever, especially as dairy is such a good source of calcium for growing kids.   Bear in mind you should be able to reintroduce it. As for fatigue, this can be due to vitamin and mineral deficiencies,such as iron, vitamin D and B12.  Were these levels tested?  If not, I would suggest you get them done.  If your daughter is deficient in these, it is vital you address the deficiencies, and get the tests redone in a few months, particularly the iron, because too much can be dangerous.
      Hello,   The medication in these inhalers can cause a thiamine deficiency if used by someone already low in thiamine.  We don't absorb sufficient amounts of vitamins and minerals due to the inflammation and damage done to our villi in Celiac Disease.  Even a long term strict gluten free diet may not provide sufficient amounts of vitamins and minerals.  There are eight B vitamins that all work together.  Thiamine deficiency often shows up first because our bodies use so much of it and it can't be stored very long. Thiamine deficiency symptoms can appear in as little as three days.  Without thiamine, the other B vitamins may not be able to function properly.   Thiamine is needed to clear lactic acid accumulation caused by the inhalers: Shoshin beriberi provoked by the inhalation of salbutamol https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/12951730/    Significant Lactic Acidosis from Albuterol https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC5965110/ Albuterol-Induced Type B Lactic Acidosis: Not an Uncommon Finding https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC7263006/ Lessons of the month 1: Salbutamol induced lactic acidosis: clinically recognised but often forgotten https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC6964186/ An Overview of Type B Lactic Acidosis Due to Thiamine (B1) Deficiency https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10731935/   Thiamine has antifungal and antibacterial properties.  Thiamine helps keep Candida in check.  Thiamine helps keep SIBO in check.  Thiamine helps with black mold, Aspergillis infection.  Riboflavin helps fight Candida infection in the mouth. Riboflavin Targets the Cellular Metabolic and Ribosomal Pathways of Candida albicans In Vitro and Exhibits Efficacy against Oropharyngeal Candidiasis https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/36625571/   Thiamine deficiency can make ones voice hoarse and can cause localized edema.  Niacin deficiency can make ones voice hoarse.  (Niacin deficiency and Thiamine deficiency can each cause irritability, agitation, and lability.) Hoarseness in pellagra https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/21507655/ Hidden Hunger: A Pellagra Case Report https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8152714/   Anesthesia can cause B12 deficiency.  B12 deficiency can show up as mouth sores and geographic tongue, diarrhea, and dementia. Vitamin deficiency, a neglected risk factor for post-anesthesia complications: a systematic review https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11823251/ Neurologic degeneration associated with nitrous oxide anesthesia in patients with vitamin B12 deficiency https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/8250714/ Subacute combined degeneration of the spinal cord following nitrous oxide anesthesia: A systematic review of cases https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/30144777/ The Effect of Vitamin B12 Infusion on Prevention of Nitrous Oxide-induced Homocysteine Increase: A Double-blind Randomized Controlled Trial https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC4052402/     Eating a diet that is heavy in carbohydrates can precipitate a thiamine deficiency.  As the amount of carbohydrates consumed increases, additional thiamine is needed, otherwise the carbs will be stored as fat.   Thiamine deficiency disorders: a clinical perspective https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8451766/   Hiding in Plain Sight: Modern Thiamine Deficiency https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8533683/   The deficiency symptoms of some of the B vitamins cause gastrointestinal symptoms that resemble the same symptoms as when being glutened.   Thiamine deficiency can present as vomiting, diarrhea and abdominal pain (Gastrointestinal Beriberi).  Niacin deficiency can present as diarrhea (Pellagra = diarrhea, dermatitis, dementia, then death ).  B12 deficiency can present as diarrhea or dementia.  Not everything is caused by hidden gluten.  Gluten free processed foods are not required to be enriched with vitamins lost in processing like gluten containing foods are. Blood tests are not accurate measurements of vitamin levels, but do talk to your doctor and nutritionist about supplementing with the eight B vitamins, Vitamin C, the four fat soluble vitamins and minerals like magnesium.  Your physician can give you a shot of B12 before anesthesia administration.   By the way, Celiac Disease genes have been traced back to having originated in Neanderthals.  I'm not a singing teacher on the net.  I earned a degree in Microbiology after studying nutrition because I wanted to know what vitamins are doing inside the body.  I've experienced nutritional deficiencies myself. Hope this helps!  Keep us posted on your progress!
