Hope all is well and I have to say...today was two weeks on the antibiotics (I added plaquenil today) and my hubby and i have already noticed subtle changes in enery and mood! Yeah! :D

Bev GREAT NEWS!! :D

Now you know why we all hang out here ... do you talk about us to your friends yet? That's always weird. Hubby knows almost all of you by name.

:lol::lol:

Yeah...I've talked about the thread to a few people :P .....and then there was Dave....who actually showed up here!!:lol:

That was good times though...didnt take him very long to "get to know" everyone here. :)

Of course...my mom also knows everyone here....even Tom. :D

Rinne...my mom was commenting on the "cuteness" of your avatar tonight...she really likes that pic. :)

MMMM speaking of almond joy, there's this ice cream parlor in Fresno that I use to go to that had big pieces of alomon joy in vanilla ice cream. mmmm I can taste it already. Fresno is waiting for us to get better Rachel. :P

OMG....2 of my favorite things all in one!! :o

Yeah...I will have to get me some of that ice cream.....also want hot fudge, banana, whip cream and ALL the toppings. :D

YYYeeaaa for you YYYYEEEAAA, I'm glad you feel good today. I do too! :)

Lisa....glad you're feeling better! I think getting hooked up with Dr. took alot of stress off your shoulders. :)

It has been dubbed "Chinese Restaurant Syndrome". That shows how much people really know about where foods come from.

Yeah...actually its the standard american diet...."processed foods" which contain the most MSG these days.

Dear Rachel,

That is pretty fascinating! I am glad you gave us the URL. That way, we can bookmark these sites! Let's just say my favorites are really loaded up! I really like to have this information accessible!

My favorites is so unorganized...hundreds of links but not categorized at all.

I'll try to be better about posting the links. :)

I cant imagine what my life would've been like going through all this w/out having this very special place to come to each and every day. Its made a HUGE difference in my life....given me strength, knowledge, friendship, support....and of course...lots of laughs. :D

This thread (and all of its participants :) ) has been a huge blessing for me.

Without you spice girls I couldn't go on living, oh and boys! :D

Do you see Dr. H in NY?

I get the stomach issues, too. They get worse during herxes. The coffee enemas we've talked about here have helped tremendously!

Chinese herbs that would be neat to try.

 Sorry, why'd I call you Julie anyway???

YAY!! :D

Hi Carla,

Nope, I see Dr. G in Oregon. Right now it is "skype" to phone consults from behind the Great Firewall. ;)

Coffee e does help a lot. Right now I have to almost every day to keep functioning. Doesn't help me much with nausea though, but the DGL powder works wonders. Have you tried that? Licorice preparation. Glad coffee e is helping you. Since 2000 when started treating lyme, coffee e have really gotten me through.

Chinese herbs ought to work, but you have to have someone that really knows what they are doing. I found a couple of the main herbs in Buchner's (sp?) book, but can't figure out how to take them since they are not standarized.

Don't worry about the name thing. We have lots of good excuses don't we?

Hi everyone else! Sorry I'm not following a lot of the thread, I can only skim a little every day.

How have you been feeling buy the way? My mom asks me about you and was wondering how you are doing?

Lisa....I usually feel pretty good compared to how I was 2 years ago...which was really bad...and I actually thought I was dying. I know you know exactly what I'm talking about. :(

I work 40 hours a week now...some days I feel a little "sluggish"...it really depends on what I'm eating.

The worst part for me is the chemical sensitivities and the fact that I can only eat a few foods because of the mold situation.

I'm still really really toxic so even if I feel pretty good as far as mood and energy...I cant really go out and enjoy myself with friends because of all the sensitivities.

I'm only in the beginning of treatment and doing the detox stuff so I'm really hoping it gets better. I have a Dr.'s appt on Friday..hopefully he has some reassuring things to tell me this time. :)

I used to cry all the time...get really depressed and could be "set off" by anything...big bursts of anger if I ate something wrong or got too many chemicals in my system. Its gotten alot better now that I've been really careful with my diet this past year...I very rarely cry now and I'm alot less irritable. :)

My mom is especially happy about the mood improvements. :P

. . . . because there was a pudding explosion. :(

Holy PuddingPop Jin that sentence is SO hilarious!! I mean, may your Magic Bullet rest in peace, but I can't stop laughing!

I was reading on the comm'ls while watching Traveler (such intrigue!) and missed a bunch of dialogue, still laughing.

Tried to think of why it sounds *so* funny. Tried other viscous foods. Pesto, molasses, batter, syrup - not funny. Hollandaise, tahini, a little. Hummus more.

But PUDDING explosion?

Rachel--24 Collaborator

Hmmmm....I missed the pudding explosion.

Guess I gotta go back.

Hey.

so I went to the doctors yesterday.

I have had a bad sore throat and super head swelling for the last two days. My lymph nodes are all sore and espically on the left side, where that tooth (root canaled tooth) is.

I get that metallic taste and drains down and I have cracking and pain in the jaw, also, white lumps in the back of my throat that i can see with the mirror. My mucus is yellow today, eww, sorry, to say.

Anyway, I feel like I want to get that tooth removed cause something on that side of my mouth is causing the bitter taste! cant figure it out and im getting really stressed cause I paid 2000$ for it.

and I dont even know if that is the reason! or if its another tooth with a filling, compostie/

What should I do!! ahhh

so anyway,,, at the doctors she had me pee into a cup, again, to test the urine, for blood.

This time she found protein in the urine!

She ordered a 24 hour urine protein collection, so I have been carrying around a jug a pee for 24 hours!

Ill wait for the results, but it has to do with kidney function.

Anyway,, has anyone ever had protien show up in their urine before?

Any good advice about the teeth, IM thinking about seeing a holistic dentist, not sure tho expensive, I dont know what to do! And dont want to make the prob worse with an extraction,,, but I guess this root canal is bothering me after all. Or is it all in my head?

I would be too. :)

I

I don't remember when you said you had that done, but when I had my root canal done almost 2 years ago it bothered me for over a year.

I plan on having it pulled next year as I've read too many bad things about root canals and the toxins they emit into the body.

If you can I'd highly recommend a holistic dentist. The one I'll be going to isn't much more expensive then the regular dentist. I'll be driving a long distance to see him (6 hrs), but he's in a lower cost area.

.....

Ok back to the ginger press. I was more wondering if there was something fundamentally wrong that I wouldn't think of. Like I've had to say "ohh no no no . . . . No" over something to a newbie sax player.

Heyyyyyyyyyy, that sounds good!

I have a KitchenAid too. Big one, but not the top model. Maybe the 1st that incl the mini-bowl. I should use it more.

The only thing I do regularly is pesto.

......

Hey, if you can press it through and you are happy with it then no problem but since you are so advanced that you can make pesto then for sure you could do the ginger for freezing. :)

YYYeeaaa for you YYYYEEEAAA, I'm glad you feel good today. I do too! :)

That is wonderful. :) So, so great to have a good day with so many are not.

....

You know how you were talking about having difficulty with chopping? I love the Magic Bullet! We had one that broke, because there was a pudding explosion. :( My Dad would not listen to me. It was awful. There was pudding all over the place, and it got down into the electric mechanism of it, and ruined it.

....

Jin, I hope the exam goes well.

Sometimes life is just one big pudding explosion. Sorry about losing the Magic Bullet in the process though. :(

It reminded me of a friend who tried to boil eggs in a pressure cooker, the pressure cooker exploded and eggs were everywhere.

Rinne...my mom was commenting on the "cuteness" of your avatar tonight...she really likes that pic. :)

Thank your Mom for me, yes I was very cute :lol: and smart. My mother claims I toilet trained myself at the age of one year. :o I think that at one year of age with a brand new baby brother I looked around and figured out I needed to get it together if I wanted a dry bottom.

Thanks for the whey protein information.

And how is The Dave? He was lots of fun to play with. :)

...

Licorice preparation.

....

I found licorice tea helpful for my digestion, very soothing.

I also drank a lot of cabbage juice, I bought a whole case of cabbage and drank a glass every morning until I could no longer look at the cabbage. It really helped.

Hey.

so I went to the doctors yesterday.

....

Sorry I can't help but someone here likely knows way more about protein in the urine and dental issues, sorry to hear you aren't feeling well.

Dear tom,

Nice avatar! It looks so peaceful! I would not mind visiting a Dude Ranch and riding a horse or two. I think it would be fun! I do not like the hot weather so much, though.

No worries. It won't be hot there. The pic is Alaska. Tho Arizona does have some mountains, they aren't like those. I think those are much further than they appear. Probably the Talkeetnas. Above the timberline = UP there! Not to mention yr round snow on those.

The AZ dude ranches you'd love in Jan/Feb tho I bet. I do remember midwest winters.

You'd be in shorts or in saddle! :)

I have been racheling Fritos, which I had no business doing. I am done. I am not allowed any more Fritos!

Yes I did love my Fritos. I think they're why corn was(is?) one of the leaky-gut induced intolerances.

Thought I was doing good in keeping away from the 2+ inch ingred list snacks. Fritos = corn, corn oil, salt period. (Do I still need a period after that??? Hmmmmm) :)

The Pudding Explosion of aught 5 (wait! when?) is still crackin me up.

Hey everyone-

ahhhhh. this has been such a busy week i am run down!!

I have alot of interesting stuff to post about the physical therapy type thing i am doing. But i don't have the energy right now. I will say have a really good feeling about it.

I am doing it 3 times this week again and i don't know about next week. it is reallly expensive but i feel like i want to go 3 times next week too.

I finally heard form the new doc last night he was so friendly he said he talked to my doc and he is going to everything he can to get me in a little earlier. He said there are not really any tests to do before i go in the day of the appointment he does heavy metal testing and some other mercury test.

I have to get my liver test redone becasue some things were high on my last one but it might have just been becasue of the diflucan. I am gonna call my doc about it today.

on top of all the appointments i've had i had to do alot of baking. i sometimes bake for a few health centers (gluten, dairy, soy free goodies. ) so yesturday i was in the kitchen most of the day making brownies, cookies, etc. and then cleaning all the mess it made. then i had to deliver it and then i had an appointment. it seems like everyday so far this week has been way to packed.

I am trying to move possibly and I had this interview the day before about this aparrtment i really want it but i somehow doubt i am going to get it. But i have to do all this stuff today like go to the bank (iu hate the bank) and call all these places to get documentation for them to review. I really just want to have a day to relax!!!!

MAybe this weekend

Tom- Yes..this is a happy little hamlet away from the troubles of the world (well, except our troubles :P ). It is a nice place to rest.

Sherry- Hope things go well for you on the abx this time. And hi and welcome!

Andrea- Love the family picture

Nikki- That pic of you nad your hubby is so sweet!

Carla- Sorry abopoput the herxing. Having been through what I think was one, I am NOT looking forward to the next one. Mon- Wed of this week I woke up feeling like my body had gone on an 8 hour horse back ride and run a marathon in my sleep. My muscle aches were unbelievable. Asked hubby if I was running marathons in my sleep- he said I was just twitching. Hope this one isn't bad and that everything goes well with Chloe (your kids have the best names!).

OMG- Kudos bars were the best!!!!!!! Yumm!

Rachel- I agree with what you said about rachelville. I think this thread should somehow be turned into a book at some point. This place is a huge blessing

Hi Mia!

Tom- You said Talkeetnas! OMG! My hubby and I were in Talkeetna for a night on our way to Denali back in 2001. Such a funny place. There was an airplane runway for all the small planes that fly in and it ended at a bar! I loved their slogan "A drinking town with a climbing problem" or "A drinking town with a fishing problem". We had so much fun there!

dlp252 Apprentice

Lisa, so happy you are feeling better!!! You sound better that's for sure!! Yay!

Sherry, so sorry you aren't feeling better! :(

Hey Everyone!

(I've been meaning to write this for a while)

I don't think I've mentioned how glad I am to have stumbled upon this happy hamlet you've all created. There's no freeway exit; no signs posted anywhere.

Just a curious celiac wondering how a thread gets to a galactic 4digit-page# length.

Such an admirable group of regulars helping each other thru so many of the toughest of times & over SUCH a long stretch of time.

I find it extraordinary. Long Live Rachelville!!!!!

 Yes indeed, a very special place here and why sometimes we get a little protective of it. Not bad for a group of people who haven't actually met face-to-face yet. :P

and erlich...(sp?)

I can't spell that stupid thing either. Hopefully I'll find out on Tuesday if and when I can get tested (via blood) for co-infections...from my ART testing I supposedly have Babs, Bart and Erlich...

Of course with more abx comes more candida issues.

I think this is one of the major reasons why my doctor is being extra conservative with the abx for me. :(

I think what is key is building up the immune system and then living a way of life that supports that. At that point whether or not it is completely gone becomes irrelevent because you have tamed the bugs and you are well.

I suspect there are many more relapses when people simply do the ABX and return to a lifestyle that doesn't support wellness.

Yes, I think this plays a huge part in it all!

OMG- I can finally post! Everytime I've tried to log on in the last 24 hours, the connection timed out on me so I've been reading along in my emails but unable to respond. It was like being gagged! Drove me crazy and now I'm too tired to post. Hope some of the good pics are still up (Tom, Donna, andrea).

Hope all is well and I have to say...today was two weeks on the antibiotics (I added plaquenil today) and my hubby and i have already noticed subtle changes in enery and mood! Yeah!

Oh Bev, YAY!!!! Subtle changes are good!

What's up with the websites these days. I STILL can't get on to lymenet either from home or from work. I don't usually have a problem with both home and work. Today I had a LOOONNNNGGGG delay getting into this site!

You have almost earned voting rights! Now you know why we all hang out here ... do you talk about us to your friends yet? That's always weird. Hubby knows almost all of you by name.

 Not too many people (well except my doctors) know much about names, lol. My doctors know Rachel obviously. My mom knows about the "message board". My friends do this  when I tell about my friends on "the message board".

dlp252 Apprentice

And part TWO,

Well, I'm still on my detour from Rachelville to Herxville. It's still not as bad as normal ... I'm still getting around okay, but the profound fatigue is back. I still have my air hunger ... added muscle aches today. This is how I used to feel when I wasn't herxing.

Well, even though you're not feeling good, it's still encouraging to me that it's not as bad as normal! I'm a little afraid to start treating the lyme.

I just hope it doesn't mean I'll be at the Zoo when it's 115!!!!

...

BUT! I just found out earlier, at the point of chicken prep where I'm used to having to sit down for a rest, I didn't have to yet! (Tom's pretty psyched!!!)

 on the zoo, but YAY on the not having to sit down!

But the kisses had too high an unwrapping/eating quotient. That's where the Nuggets come in.

Oh heck yeah!

Its still sometimes hard for me to believe we've been here this long.

It is extraordinary....even moreso when we're all recovered and can look back at everything we went through together.

I cant imagine what my life would've been like going through all this w/out having this very special place to come to each and every day. Its made a HUGE difference in my life....given me strength, knowledge, friendship, support....and of course...lots of laughs.

This thread (and all of its participants has been a huge blessing for me.

Majorly dittoing this!!!!

Oh please! I think u know darn well u have no intention of letting the men vote!! I'm not falling for it ya big tease.

No worries...it's nearly a full-time job keeping up here, lol. I had to drop another site I visited regularly for a while. :P

I had a chocolate pudding explosion after drinking magnesium citrate and prunes.

I may never look at chocolate pudding in the same way again!

3) That cow has a Brit look about it

Yes...I wish my picture of the highland cow came out better...that would have been a giveaway!

I agree.

This is why we can deal with the people who don't believe us (doctors, family, friends, etc.). We get support here. I think it helps us get better, too. I don't think those without support are doing as well ... at least it seems that way to me when I come across someone who doesn't have anyone to talk to about it.

Oh please! I think u know darn well u have no intention of letting the men vote!! I'm not falling for it ya big tease.

The closest we'll get is carrying the ballot box.

Carrying the ballot box is a start! You are getting closer to earning the right. I'm not going to tell you what earns the right ... :D But you're close.

LMAO at the talking to friends!! Just a few so far, but they don't get it.

:lol: Especially when you want to read the thread so bad you take the laptop into the bathroom!:lol:

My Mom had some visual freakouts at Costco and wanted to blame the lights.

But now we know it was her cheating on gluten w/ all the samples!

There are some stores where the lights make me feel bad. Places like Sam's Club. I feel fine going in, then sick coming out. For me, it's not the samples! I can't imagine dealing with samples and lighting!!!

:lol::lol:

Yeah...I've talked about the thread to a few people :P .....and then there was Dave....who actually showed up here!!:lol:

Now there's a man who will never earn the right to vote!!

It was fun having him around. I learned that I DO NOT tell me friends WHERE the thread is, just that it exists!!

Hi Carla,

Nope, I see Dr. G in Oregon.

Sherry, if he's an LLMD you might want to take his name and city off your post since we talk about treatment here and they are already so persecuted ... plus, since you're getting your meds over the phone. ;)

but the DGL powder works wonders. Have you tried that? Licorice preparation.

I haven't had nausea lately. I've really had a breakthrough!! :D I'm in the midst of a herx and am up and mostly functional. I feel bad like a herx, but am not flat on my back like I usually am ... though I do rest a lot ... and lean on things if I'm standing or sitting.

Carla- Sorry abopoput the herxing. Having been through what I think was one, I am NOT looking forward to the next one. Sounds like a herx. The only reason I look forward to them is that I feel better afterward!!!

Thanks for the compliment on the names.

Welcome to the forum, @Karen Chakerian, We need more information, please.   What homeopathic remedies or medications are you taking now?  Do you still have the blood pressure and other symptoms?  What is included in your diet currently?  Dairy? Oats?  Processed gluten free foods?  Vegetarian?  Other food allergies?  Do you take vitamins?  When gluten is removed from the diet, the body stops making the anti-gluten antibodies that are usually measured in blood tests used to diagnose Celiac disease.  To measure the anti-gluten antibodies, you would have to consume 10 grams of gluten (4-6 slices of bread or equivalent) per day for a minimum of 2 weeks or longer.   A DNA test which looks for the most common genes for Celiac Disease may be a less invasive avenue to pursue.  Has your doctor checked you for nutritional deficiencies? Glad you're here!

@SaiP, Insomnia is listed as one of the side effects of Loratadine.   Niacin B3 in the form Tryptophan, Pyridoxine B 6, Folate B 9, Cobalamine B12, Magnesium, and Thiamine B 1 are needed to produce the sleep hormone melatonin.  Insomnia can also be caused by low Vitamin D and low Vitamin A.   A strict gluten free diet can be low in essential  vitamins.   Gluten containing products are required to replace vitamins lost in processing and milling.  Gluten free processed foods are not required to have vitamins added.  White rice is not a good source of B vitamins.  Brown rice is little better.  Exposure to light (even grocery store lights) and heat (during transportation) can destroy B vitamins.   B vitamins are easily lost in urine and diarrhea because they are water soluble.  If you have had diarrhea longer than two weeks, you are probably low in B vitamins.  Fat based vitamins, like Vitamins D and A, can be low due to fat malabsorption in Celiac disease, too.   Damaged villa in Celiac Disease do not absorb B vitamins and fat based vitamins and minerals well.  Supplementing with essential nutrients while villi heal boosts the ability to absorb essential vitamins and minerals.  Vitamins are stored and utilized inside cells.  Blood levels are not accurate measurements of vitamin deficiencies.  You can have normal blood levels while having deficiencies inside cells.  The brain orders cells to release their stores so the brain and heart can keep functioning.  This results in normal blood levels, but vitamin deficits inside cells.   Your indulgence in a little bit of bread is providing some, but insufficient amounts, of vitamins needed to make sleep hormone melatonin while keeping your inflammation and histamine production high.   In addition to a B Complex, I took 1000 mg of tryptophan before bed to correct my insomnia caused by high histamine levels.  Correcting my Vitamin D level to between 75-100 nmol/ml helped as well.  Also Passion flower extract is helpful in falling asleep quickly.   Please stop eating gluten bread as this will keep your autoimmune response triggering and your antibody levels won't go down and your histamine levels will stay up as well.   Celiac is a marathon, not a sprint.  P.S. I wanted to reiterate that insomnia and weight loss are symptoms of Thiamine deficiency.  Benfotiamine is a form of thiamine that promotes intestinal healing.  Thiamine is water soluble and nontoxic even in high doses.  High doses are needed to correct thiamine deficiency. All mitochondria in cells utilize thiamine.  The World Health Organization says to take 500 - 1000 mg per day of thiamine and look for health improvement.  Diets that are high in carbohydrates like rice and gluten require more thiamine.  For every 1000 calories from carbohydrates, we need 500 mg more thiamine.  Thiamine is found in meat.  Few veggies contain thiamine. Can you rise from a squat without assistance?  This is the field test for thiamine deficiency used by WHO.  If you cannot rise easily from a squat you may be thiamine deficient.

Earlier, you mentioned the possibility of adding in sweet potatoes. Have you tried that? Have you tried sourdough bread? Some people with celiac disease claim they can eat sourdough without a gluten reaction. The fermentation process alters the protein somewhat.

Welcome to the forum, @Karen Chakerian! So, for the sake of clarity, you have self-diagnosed yourself as having celiac disease but are not officially diagnosed by medical testing. Is this correct?

I’m 70 years old and have RA for 25 years. I’d never had digestive issues or even heard of celiac until 2 months ago.  6 years ago I started having serious diarrhea, dropped what little weight I had,  became very exhausted, developed rapid onset blood pressure and other symptoms. I went to the doctor for an unrelated matter and even with my records he told me they have ‘pills’ for all those things; which I turned down and sought to deal with this with homeopathic remedies.  Mid October 2024 my guts hurt terribly and started to swell. My massage therapist asked about celiac and I started to do research on it. It absolutely fits all the symptoms so I’ve been gluten free since 2 days before Thanksgiving but the huge gut persists. Thankfully the pain and cramps are gone. I look like a 90# pregnant skeleton.  I’m exhausted and looking for some encouragement from the tribe. I have good days and bad. I know living with an autoimmune disease sucks but this is even worse than the RA.
