My ex-best friend is gonna be there though.

I hope all goes well on all fronts.

Just go and have a great time--you've moved on and remember that living well (and happily) is the best revenge B);):D

Yep.

Hi, Andrea and Rinne--Okay, now I'm paranoid! I use a microwave *all* the time....something to think about....

It takes some time and planning to get used to but food is much better when not nuked....imo.

Hope your trips in July go well. I wouldn't want to eat out either.

One even picked her nose on stage and wiped it on her PARTNER'S tutu

:lol::lol:

I have a confession to make.:lol: A particular sense of discomfort has not been with me the last few hours. :o Could it be almonds?

It has literally been months since I have not eaten nuts on a daily basis. They are my 'go to' food when I know I need to eat something and nothing appeals to me or I don't have the energy to cook or I am travelling.

Not wanting this issue to be clear I have muddied the waters with cup of coffee about as thick as mud.:lol:

:ph34r: Maybe you'll just have to move to eating them occasionaly.

As Leonard Cohen says, "I will decide for myself what is rotten and what is fresh" and anything that turns chicken into rubber and bread into glue is rotten to me. :P

I have little faith in a system that has betrayed us over and over again for profit.

Here, here.

Donna,

So glad your massage went well. Sounds like you feel better. :D

tom Contributor

Grrrr it 'timed out' on me but that usually still means it got posted first.

Can't find this one this time.

So sorry if it's a double-post. :)

I miss the bay ssooo bad. I use to live on Geary and Levensworth in the tenderloin. The good old days.

Ahhhhhh Lisa I can just imagine what a blast u must've been having!! :D

I wanted to try SF living. SJ awfully sleepy in comparison. Heck, most places are.

Back then "Baghdad by the Bay" was a compliment!

Applied for a job a little out of my field at Dolby (yes that one).

It might be by Potrero Hill?

Oh well - no way I was commuting to silicon valley. I like living not too far from work.

Just skimmed posts....the get-together went fine. :)

My ex-best friend was there....but apparantly didnt know I was coming.

She got up from her seat and I just walked right past her. :P

I guess I'm just really stubborn that way.

She's not nearly as stubborn as I am...so she started conversation with me right away.

I ended our friendship Dec. 2003. We got in a big fight outside a club and I was sooooo sick of the drama. I told her my thoughts about her unsupportiveness and she said "If you really feel that way...then dont call me again." I said "Trust me....I wont."

That was it...and I never called.

Saw her about a year later at a Safeway event....there was no escaping as we were on a boat in the bay.

She approached me tears in her eyes...told me she missed our friendship, etc, etc.

By the end of the night there was MAJOR drama surrounding her and somehow I got thrust into it....like always. I was SICK...had been eating and drinking (still didnt realize I was toxic)...I told her this was EXACTLY why I dont want to be around her. Today was the first time I've seen her since that night.

So we actually had fun talking today....she said she wants to be friends again and to spend time together like we used to. She promised no drama. She said she still wants me in her life if we can work it out.

So we'll see how it goes. :)

She obviously didnt know anything about all that I've gone through the past few years....she offered me a cigarette right away....couldnt believe I'd really quit!!

Ummm...yeah....not like I really had a choice in the matter.

I'm glad I dont smoke anymore though. :)

So now she knows I havent had alcohol in over 2 years, no cigs, no chemicals and no food. Thats it...we didnt talk about why. I dont much like talking about this stuff to people at a party.

Its like my Dr. said yesterday...he said its great that my job is so very understanding about all this and that they treat me well. He said this kind of illness is very difficult for people to understand...its difficult to explain and its not something people can clearly *see* or identify with.

He said anyone looking at me would assume I'm healthy.....there is nothing to show whats actually going on *inside*. He said...despite your appearance you've got ALOT of serious things going on....a whole lot of issues.

Of course he said it very gravely. :(

But yeah...noone could really understand...except you guys....and my Dr.'s.

Rachel--24 Collaborator

I'm getting ready for party #2 now. :o

I wont know most of the people at this one.

NoGluGirl Contributor

Dear Rachel,

I could see where being around your ex-best friend at the party would make you worry a bit. Toxic people are best avoided when possible. Everyone in my family seems toxic. Maybe I could turn them into frogs or something useful. It would fix that stupid fly situation. :D

Those mysterious buzzes are probably flies. They love to get in my ears! They drive me crazy! Those things never stop! Right when I am ready to go to sleep, the stupid thing gets right on my ear and buzzes so loud!

I am so sorry to hear your doctor said you are extremely toxic still. :( The good news is, it can be fixed. :) That was nice to know. It just takes time, often longer than we would like. Using the microwave might not help, either. I have heard some nasty things about them.

Dear Carla,

That new Victorian home sounds absolutely stunning! I wish I could see a picture! Hey, I would move there and work for you running the B&B! Anything to get away from my parents! This would be neat!

Having a degree in Marketing is a great thing to have! Marketing is a class I took. It is interesting. Really, it is just about the psychology of a customer. It is how customers think. It is impossible to sell anything when you have no knowledge of this. Marketing really should be the first class you take in any business program, I think.

Dear Lisa,

Microwaves can be detrimental. They normally fry food with the waves they use to heat it. Overheating it destroys everything! I often eat food at room temperature, because it is easier on my system. My stomach tends to react to food that is too cold or too hot.

I am glad to hear that your new doctor is also a nutritionist! :) That is great news! This will help you a lot. Meanwhile, I am trying to figure out things your system might be able to tolerate. Some of it may have to do with the temperature of the food. I know it has irritated my stomach at times if the food is too cold or too hot.

I am hoping I stay well. Right now, I am scared I will get glutened. :( Mike Sell's Potato Chips only have 3 ingredients, but I do not know about cc issues. I needed something, though! I needed the dishes clean before I could eat with them, and now I worry I will get sick!

Dear tom,

Pudding explosion! It got you too? This is more dangerous than I thought! It is like the Blob! Well, at least my mutant hair has not hurt anyone else yet.

I loved your words for holy crap! Here are some of my ideas: evangelical excrement, pious poo, sacred scat, and the tird trinity! That is the best I can do for the moment! I thought that was pretty good for off the top of my head, though! There are so many hilarious options here!

That is interesting about the soy intolerance. I read that you should give a food two weeks before adding it back. I was surprised you showed no change until you waited a while. Of course, delayed reactions are difficult to deal with that way. Maybe that is what it was?

Yes, Bella is an interesting lady. So are her friends. You do not want to make her angry. Of course, she is not near as bad as the ice queen of the group. Dana "Dollface" Malone may look like a Barbie, but she is no sweetheart. See my response to Rinne for more.

Dear Rinne,

I agree that microwaves are not healthy to use. I have read some awful things aside from the links you provided. Our food has energy that gives life. The harshness of the rays in a microwave take it away. Dead food equals a dead person.

I heard stir-frying is really a good way to preserve nutrients. I also found out by reading this one cookbook that vegetables and fruits begin losing nutrients as soon as they are cut. Chopping and cutting them in advance may decrease their nutritional value! I think if you cut them and the freeze them, that might prevent that. I cannot be certain, though.

Okay, now more on Bella and her friends. As I mentioned, Dollface is the ice queen. She is going to actually go to a guy's apartment and pretend she is going to makeout with him. He thinks he is going to get some, then she shoots him! Dollface is a model, and she and her mother have a seriously strained relationship. She has many issues, and is more than willing to take her frustrations out on the men in the local Mafia.

Cravings are strange. I miss chocolate covered pretzals. They are perfect when you are craving sometime salty and sweet. You really cannot find anything better! Pretzals and peanutbutter are great, too!

Dear Susie,

George Clooney, Mojitos, and all of the other great stuff? Yeah, count me in! I like Zach Braff, too. He is a sweetie. I think he looks cuddly.

I cannot believe your brother is in Indiana! I am quite a ways south, probably is south as you can get in the state! Evansville is almost near the tip of the state! We are nearly in Kentucky! It is unreal how many people you know who have relatives or friends near you!

You mentioned I had asked about something, but you could not recall what. I was wondering about your X-Rays. Do you know when you will have them done? I do not think you heard anything yet the last I read. That was in a post I read today.

Dear Patti,

Glutenings are HEINOUS! I am scared of getting my hair done, because I need to know everything in what is being used! I explained the situation to the hairstylist, but am not sure if she gets it. Tocopherols are a major problem. Vitamin E is a serious issue. Hairsprays have it as well.

I am glad the heart palpitations are calming down. Maybe I need to take calcium, too. That might help a lot. Magnesium is something I need more of too, I am sure. My heart palpitations are likely related to the Thyroid, but there is not much I can do about it for now.

Just make sure that you do not let yourself get too overwhelmed with the move. It is alright to relax. You do not have to do everything at once. Being organized is the key. One recommendation I would make is take the boxes and as you fill them, write a list of everything that goes in there.

After you are done filling it, tape the list to the top or side of the box. That way, you know everything that is in the box without opening it! Stress will greatly be reduced with that alone. The smoother things go, the less stress you will be under.

You need to have as little complicate things as possible.

Dear Mia,

I am glad you do not have to take anymore saline! That stuff is not a pleasant experience for you at all! Scooping poo is not exactly a fun test to do anyway. I know one thing, I never could look at the fridge the same way again after doing a stool test where I had to refrigerate the sample. Even now, I sometimes expect it to be sitting there on the door, like it is the phantom tird or something!

Dear Donna,

I am so sorry to hear about the pain you have experienced! Those injections can hurt! I am sure your neighbors being awake and loud at 3am did not help any. People here are idiots. They start setting off fireworks three weeks before the 4th of July. It kind of makes the actual day less special once you have heard them for three weeks straight!

Be careful with the Tylenol! Make sure you do not take too much! More people die from overdoses of Tylenol per yer due to liver damage than you would ever suspect! Have something in your stomach when you take them, too. I was warned about that by the endodontist's office, even though it is not a NSAID.

Dear Nikki,

You will be happy to know it is not just you! This thing is blue and gray. That will certainly take some getting used to!

I am so used to the blues everywhere. So, what have you been up to across the pond?

Dear Bev,

How are you doing today? You sound pretty chipper! Those herxes are kind of up and down. You do really well, then you will have a tough time. That seems to be par for the course.

I cannot believe your niece! That was hilarious! Can you imagine what the mother of the other child was thinking? It would be like "OMG! That kid just wiped her booger on my child's tutu!" That is so funny!

Dear Alison,

We do not have Skyline Chili here, either. Evansville has some good stuff, but I can no longer eat any of it! :( What a bummer that is! I have thought about doing gluten-free catering. I do not think anyone around here does it.

Painkillers are something I am terrified of. My system tolerates few medications. When I had my gallbladder out, I had a prescription for Lortabs, but did not fill it. I just toughed it out. I did not want to risk a bad reaction.

Dear Julie,

It is good to hear from you! I hope you are able to last until you see your doctor. Being gluten-free is tough enough, but add other things in there, that makes it even trickier! Being gluten-free is difficult enough for me! I know if I ever travel, I will just make sure to go to MapQuest and look up directions to healthfood stores wherever the destination, and stay in a place like Homestead Inn, where they have suites with kitchens.

Dear Andrea,

I agree with you on that microwave angle. It really is scary how food can be zapped completely of nutrition. Much of the food we eat already is low in nutrients. This complicates it further. I do use the microwave, but not too often.

Sincerely,

Jin

Just a couple quick comments. (I have a project)

I overstated that a microwave (only) excites water.

The freq was chosen for that, but obviously fat is but one easy exception.

And secondly - don't anyone go thinking my long microRant's point is that there isn't possible denaturing damage, as I said.

It's only disputing the validity of points in that article.

Hi Jin!

I'm re-catching up but saw u brought up a notion I hadn't considered.

Possible reason for needing longer test = delayed reaction to start w/.

Hehehehe I'm a little embarrassed that hadn't occurred to me. :o

Thanks! :)

P.S. Holy Crap I almost forgot to say what an LOL reading your synonymical alliteratives!! (Phew what a mouthful)

Seriously, I think it is awesome that you have seen such an incredible difference by cutting out soy. :)

Yer not the only one. I'm amazed. Mom's amazed. I really made Dad's Father's Day last wk.

Today I called Dad, SJ buds, my sister, my 2yr college roommate who I'd spoken to last in the great 6wks of '05 & not for 6+ yrs b4 that, tried getting Nic&Nat - the 11 & 8 yr olds in that pic I had - but talked to their mom (old gluten-free), annnnnnd another friend I hadn't spoken to.

Nic&Nat (oops Nicole & Natalie) are actually IN SJ now, so my planned visit will actually let me laugh w/ them some more! Wooooohoooooo!

I think I'll fly Wed or Thur. I haven't flown for pleasure since - oh there was a trip in '05 - but beside those 6wks, not since Feb '02. Gah maybe a holiday at mom's, but a bit of an obligation w/ Mich relatives in.

<sheesh get to the point>

Oh ya!!!! Everyone I talk to is amazed! :)

At this point I am not eating gluten, dairy, soy (other than soy lecithin in chocolate), nightshades, caffeine ( mostly  ) and all grains. I have seen improvements through limiting my diet but thanks to Rachel I am beginning to understand that some of it may not be the foods but the mold.

If cutting out nuts makes a big difference then it would seem mold is an issue for me, that is what I am hoping to find out.

I'm still on maybe 90% of the anti-candida diet. No hurry to expand it either.

And while I know I never had the mold problems that many here are dealing w/, I did have one.

I miss oregano and all dried herbs. :(

Leftovers still go straight to freezer.

Tested some of the most common mold sources, and got confirmation every time.

Never a problem w/ almBtr tho. And ND recommended it.

Rinne do u eat other nuts? And have u been doing refrig leftovers?

I do think Tom is having a bit of tequila ... or maybe someone stole his phone ... he has a different weekend demeanor ... Tom? Any comments?

Hey tom here!!! I think I lost my sidekick outside the Blue Agave Tequileria. Wow what a selection. Won a shot of 80yr old barrel aged, made by a since-out-of-business taquillery!!! Pre-Depression (not ours) hooch!!!

It's $120 a shot unless you're the 1927th customer of the month AND snort a small goldfish thru the sinuses & spit it into the blue glass - not easy - like the carnival ping-pong ball into goldfish bowl thing in reverse.

I don't remember much after that.

Been calling my ph all day and was finally told to get it at the bar.

Anything been goin' on here????

I'm the flute player ... when I'm having muscle aches it's VERY tough to hold that flute. Some days I wish I played oboe or clarinet! I play anyway and just suck it up ...

I play some flute too. Still even own one. If it were the only instr in the house I would've made a doohickey to do the holding up part.

Even now I don't think I could hold it up more than 15min.

Again, I swear, last month it might've been 2-3 min.

NoGluGirl Contributor

Dear tom,

Hey, that is what we are here for! The delayed reaction is not something that comes to mind all of the time. You cannot think of everything! :) We can only try! From what I understand from the research I have done, delayed reactions can take up to three days after consumption of a food item. I am glad I could help you figure it out! ;)

I am so happy you enjoyed my synonymical alliteration! :D Those words are so much fun to play with! You just have to experiment with the words! I am an alliteration freak! They just sound so good with the double sounds!

The fly situation certainly needs taken care of! In August is usually when it is really bad around here. If I find a way to turn my annoying relatives into adorable little frogs, then I can save money on strips and avoid using bug spray! No more West Nile fear either! Frogs eat mosquitos too! Those evil little vampires need vanquished! They serve absolutely no purpose!

I do have a thought though. I think we could benefit from studying the immune system of ticks and mosquitos. Have you noticed how they act as vectors, but never end up sick? This is quite odd, considering they carry so many diseases. I am especially curious about this with mosquitos. Mosquitos kill more people on Earth than any other insect.

I love the flute! I always wanted to play, but did not get to. Just renting one, like a violin, is normally incredibly expensive. I compose music, so it would definitely be great to test the sound out! I do have a keyboard, but the actual flute is really better if you can access one.

Sincerely,

Jin

Well, some of us WANT to and do, but we just don't understand it all. :P

Tom still need help with photo's. I have somephotos on photobucket. I press add then nothing. It says done but nothing happens or it says cannot do. Im not to bright I guess. Are the pics to large or something. How to make them smaller?

Hum, the photo MAY have to be stored on your own computer somewhere first?!

Ditto on both for me! It's been so long since I haven't had nuts...and since I have such a HUGE problem with molds, both in traditional allergy and in BioSET testing and THEN an IgG mold toxicity...well, I can't help but think it would really benefit me to NOT eat these things. :P

So glad your massage went well. Sounds like you feel better.

I definitely do. The pain is perhaps down to a 9. I have a bit more range of motion, but the pain is still there when trying to lift my arm more than an inch in any direction.

My neighbors are generally very nice and are pretty quiet for young people  , but for some reason they were banging stuff around at 3:00 a.m. -- Don't know what they were doing but it clearly needed to stop!

Yeah, I think I ended up taking 12 tylenold tablets yesterday...I know the directions say 2 every 4-6 hours...I took 2 every 4 hours, but forgot to look at the "don't take more than __ in 24 hours" part. I'll take less today...I hate taking stuff anyway, but there was absolutely no way I could have made it through yesterday without help. :P I think today will be better...I have to wait until at least 6:30 before I can take anything anyway...it's only 5:00 here now. I took my IntraMax this morning and can't take anything for 2 hours afterwards.

I'm re-catching up but saw u brought up a notion I hadn't considered.

I rinse out the tube and the bag (because I use coffee), then I hang them upside down in the shower so they drain out and dry completely (I take them out if someone showers so they don't get wet again).

I also discovered that the coffee still coats the inside a bit. So every few times I rub the sides of the bag together really good, and work my way down the tube rubbing it hard between my fingers. I had discovered that after a while there was a build up of residue inside and it would come out in little chunks when rinsing the bag.

If I do the rubbing it seems to stay clean. Could be the water?? Or maybe I didn't rinse well enough a few times?

Anyway, a heads up.

Project? If you want to share.

Sometime ago I read a Rolling Stone article on Vaccinations by Robert Kennedy, did you see it? He talks about a secret meeting between the big players in the vaccination game and various other health officials and government types that happened around 2000.

They met to discuss the relationship between autism and thimersol and the growing evidence of that relationship. Just after that a number of studies were funded that showed there was NO relationship and that meant no problem for the drug companies.

If you go looking you can find these studies but if you keep looking you will find that these studies have been disproved.

Recently though I have heard that there is a legal case that is going to proceed regarding vaccinations - thimersol and autism.

When I read an alternative view point I keep in mind that those offering that viewpoint have little in the way of funding research and are hindered by large drug companies who have the resources to do all the studies showing what they want them to show.

Do you know the story of Royal Raymond Rife?

"There is a crack in everything

That's how the light gets in. "

....

Miamia, one of my favourites. :) I often quote it.

How is today going?

Hello- Just POOPING in to say hello (had to say it since I brought it up).

......

Ok- now thanks to this thread I fear leftovers, mercury, mold, nut butters, hair dye, my beloved diet Coke (yes- I have cut down considerably), ticks, and nameless other scary organisms. On the other hand I do not fear sticking cofee up my scatalogical zone. Is something wrong with this picture?

Rachel- Glad Party #1 went well. Just be careful of the ex-best friend. Any drama=seek shelter is Spiceship IMMEDIATELY. :D

.....

:lol::lol::lol:

 And yes Rachel, be careful as it sounds like she may not have gone through as many changes as you have and as you say because you look fine she still may not get it.

I lived in the bay area from 1978 - 1985, in 1984 I lived in the Haight. I used to go to a bar called Nightbreak, Chris Isaak was a regular performer there. :)

Ahh I didn't start getting to SF until '88.

And to me, not much beats seeing a regular bar performer a lot before their rise to fame and fortune.

Hey tom here!!! I think I lost my sidekick outside the Blue Agave Tequileria.

Anything been goin' on here????

Hmm, yeah, some guy found it ... he talks just like you but is a little nuts ... it was fun ... but glad you're back!

I play some flute too. Still even own one. If it were the only instr in the house I would've made a doohickey to do the holding up part.

Even now I don't think I could hold it up more than 15min.

Again, I swear, last month it might've been 2-3 min.

But you still have to hold your arms up!!! It's not that the flute is too heavy!!

The residual muscle aches from my herx were making it difficult to play this morning, but I only sat our one verse of one song. I learned a long time ago not to do "arm day" in the weight room at the end of the week ... or else it caused problems on Sunday!

Hi Bev, sounds like you're feeling well today! My herx seems to be fading away ... still a little achey, but improved significantly from the past few days. It should be gone by tomorrow I think.

I don't fear that stuff ... I quit Diet Coke MANY years ago .... took care of mercury back then, too ... but hair dye and nut butters, not afraid of them! Ticks, well, I think it's a reasonable fear.

If I do the rubbing it seems to stay clean. Could be the water?? Or maybe I didn't rinse well enough a few times?

Anyway, a heads up.

Thanks.

Donna, ditto on the hot stone. It was GREAT!

I know I'm forgetting stuff ... sorry.

Rachel, glad the party went well, hope the second one did, too.

Tom still need help with photo's. I have somephotos on photobucket. I press add then nothing. It says done but nothing happens or it says cannot do. Im not to bright I guess. Are the pics to large or something. How to make them smaller?

Hi Lisa!

1st I've gotta say I'm "surfs with phone" guy so there's one part of the procedure that may be slightly different from what I see.

Mine implies there's a choice to turn off shrink or re-size or ______(?) avatar, but I get no button to do it.

Wish I remembered the wording, and it'd take literally 1.5-2 min to load thru the pages b4 I can see. (And I might lose what I've typed so far in the process)

Maybe anyone else is better for this.

But I can help w/ 2 parts. Pics on photobucket won't help at all for this, until u choose one and download it to YOUR own PC's hard drive.

I've never been to photobucket so I can't say what they call that, or how it's done but I know it'd be common and easy to do once u know how.

All of my pics are "too large" and the forum site handles them fine. But only because that "Re-size Avatar" (or whatever it's called) was ON.

I did end up cropping my current avatar cuz it was looking stretched in my view.

But the rest were no prob at all.

So 1st, make sure u get a photobucket photo moved to YOUR pc.

Maybe then the rest will fall into place.

Good Luck!!!

(And hush on the not-too-bright! [tho I've known the feeling for most of this millenium] Puh-leeeeze, we've seen what u type when you're not completely horrid!! PC stuff is mostly only about whether u know how to do it YET) :)

But still no comment...what thread?

What "what thread"??

Ya lost me there.

And let me throw in that I would never heat a baby's bottle in a microwave.

It's not like I'm a pro-microwave advocate.

And I'm sorry Rinne, tho while applicable in many situations, the "who profits" train of thought doesn't apply IMO.

Anyone w/ stock in any of . . . .how many?. . . .50? 80? .. . . .worldwide microwave manufacturers + distributors and retailers is who profits. And probably everyone w/ stock in general Mutual Funds too as they'd most likely be holding at least one of the conglomerates that does some electronics manufacturing.

Who profits here may easily exceed 50% of the nations' stock market participants, plus all those worldwdie in similar positions.

Situation has little in common w/ ones where a single company (or few companies) makes all the money from some product.

I have a confession to make.:lol: A particular sense of discomfort has not been with me the last few hours. :o Could it be almonds?

It has literally been months since I have not eaten nuts on a daily basis.

Hmmmmmmm could it be, could it be. I'm curious, as a kibbitzer. Thought of anything else as possible cause(s)?

Maybe u already answered this and I didnr get to it yet - what kinds of nuts?

(Probable redundant point - I only could buy raw and roast myself)

As for the science, everyone who puts something out there is putting out an opinion and who is unbiased?

Ouch Rinne, I'm not sure anyone can imagine how much this cuts me to the quick. :(:(:o:(:(

Real Science, True Science, is not, never has been & never will be Opinion.

Science is truly defined by the process. Not some list of "facts".

Theories contain opinion. They are an integral part of the process.

Scientific theories that are tested extensively and universally agreed upon get upgraded to Laws. (i.e. Newton's Laws)

Einstein's theories were opinion w/ math to support his conclusions. Only decades later did equipment become available to even consider putting them to the test.

He's obviously been proven correct on every point tested thus far, but no one says Einstein's "Law of Relativity".

The standards in real science are so high that even Einstein hasn't yet been tested enough.

True Science isn't just all the use of scientific words while attempting to "prove" something verbally - w/out designing and running experiments over and over. An experiment that can't be repeated worldwide w/ similar results is a failed experiment.

Reminds me of that U of Utah "cold fusion on a desktop" nonsense a while ago.

True Science brought 'live satellite tv' into existence. Not "Head-On! Apply directly to your forehead!" LOL!!

I've cleaned & re-sighted my pistol btw LMAO

Re: Rinne's almonds

Maybe you'll just have to move to eating them occasionaly.

Contrarian Spice told me to write he's glad he didn't decide to just have soy occasionally. :P

<tom here again - did anyone see that? He stuck out hs tongue at me!!!!!>

Re: Silver Dragon - how's the Hot&Sour Soup? (how I miss that)

. . . . Everyone in my family seems toxic. Maybe I could turn them into frogs or something useful. It would fix that stupid fly situation. :D

Oh I love this one!!!

<aahhhh unprecedented second round of tears of laughter from one joke!!>

Dear Lisa,

Microwaves can be detrimental. They normally fry food with the waves they use to heat it. Overheating it destroys everything! I often eat food at room temperature, because it is easier on my system. My stomach tends to react to food that is too cold or too hot.

Makes me think of being the one holding the nail and when smacked on the thumb, blaming the hammer. :P

It used to hurt to drink cold water. So strange to be on Santa Cruz wharf and ask "but do u have any *warm* water bottles?"

I'm ok w/ cold now tho thank god, when it's 113 out.

Dear tom,

So very interesting. I don't think anyone can do an elimination test for a delayed-reaction food w/out going into it w/ the hypothesis that it IS a delayed one. Way too confusing otherwise.

Maybe last time on day6 when I ate soy and was fine, I was only fine because I hadn't had any on days 3,4,5.

But I eat it and feel fine on day6&7 and wrongly conclude "no problem!! See? I'm fine!"

Omg it SO makes a good experiment tough.

I need to look up days 8&9!!!!

Yes, Bella is an interesting lady. So are her friends. You do not want to make her angry. Of course, she is not near as bad as the ice queen of the group. Dana "Dollface" Malone may look like a Barbie, but she is no sweetheart. See my response to Rinne for more.

Dear Rinne,

Okay, now more on Bella and her friends. As I mentioned, Dollface is the ice queen. She is going to actually go to a guy's apartment and pretend she is going to makeout with him. He thinks he is going to get some, then she shoots him! Dollface is a model, and she and her mother have a seriously strained relationship. She has many issues, and is more than willing to take her frustrations out on the men in the local Mafia.

Heehee I love a good teaser clip.

Dear Julie,

. . . . ., and stay in a place like Homestead Inn, where they have suites with kitchens.

I have a site that shows all or most hotels/motels/inns w/ kitchens, by city.

Yaaaaaaayy! :)

Welcome to the forum, @RDB7918393! For some folks, gluten reactions are delayed but I would not think symptoms delayed  of a week or more out would be due to a gluten reaction. Twenty four hours or so but not 7-14 days. I would suspect something else is going on. Eating out is well-known to be the number one sabotaging activity of the gluten-free life style.

I was diagnosed with Celiac about 10 months ago after having on and off morning stomach cramping and loose stool that only occurred like once a month. So I don’t get immediate reactions…more if build up reactions. I do my best to be gluten free but hard when on vacation and going to restaurants to fully trust cross contamination problems. I find that if I’m cross contaminated, I don’t get a reaction til about a week or two after. The reaction is stomach cramping morning only with flaky stool. Does anyone else have such a delayed reaction like a week or two after being glutened? Or should I go for more testing to see what’s going on.

Good morning, I saw that a lot of people were asking wether Polly-O products are gluten free. I just called them and all their cheeses are gluten free! Just wanted to let anyone know.    if you still want you can give them a call.

Your approach is spot-on—trusting reliable sources like Mayo Clinic and sticking to a gluten-free diet that works for you is the best way to navigate all the noise out there. The claim that rice and corn contain forms of gluten harmful to celiacs is indeed a misconception. While these grains do contain proteins that may technically be referred to as "glutens" in a broader scientific sense, they are structurally and functionally different from the gliadin found in wheat, which is the specific protein harmful to those with celiac disease. Scientific research overwhelmingly supports the safety of non-contaminated rice and corn for celiacs unless there’s a separate sensitivity or allergy involved. Some opinion pieces or alternative health sources may blur the lines by conflating these proteins, which can cause unnecessary worry. You're absolutely correct to focus on the distinction between scientifically validated information and anecdotal claims. It's also important to note that some people with celiac disease may develop sensitivities to other grains over time, but this is individual and not a universal rule. If you’re asymptomatic and thriving on a diet that includes certified gluten-free products with rice and corn, there’s no reason to change what’s clearly working for you. The internet is a breeding ground for well-meaning but misguided advice, and it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. Your instinct to validate claims through reliable research is exactly the right way to go. Keep enjoying your gluten-free meals, stick with trusted certifications, and don’t feel pressured to adopt restrictive diets that aren’t backed by science or tailored to your specific needs. Happy New Year to you too!
