Oh Lisa, make sure you tell her that you react to everything and that you definitely have a gluten issue...if there are a lot of supplements, have her sort of rank them as to what order, but tell her you react to everything and will need to start one at a time to see what you react to. That's if you want to. ;)

Yes Donna, have fun tonight. :)

Thanks, I will...can't help it with these girls...it's like a comedy marathon with them.:P

I think everyone would test positive for heavy metals unless they chelated recently. That's the nature of our world. Everyone with heavy metals does not get sick. Just because heavy metals are found in every sick person, doesn't mean they're causing the illness because every healthy person is likely to have them, too.

Carla...I would also like to point out that the same is true of Lyme. Many people are walking around with Lyme and are not sick with it....thats the nature of the world. Everyone with Lyme does not get sick. Just because Lyme is found in a sick person does not mean its causing the illness.....because many healthy people are likely to have it too.

Just in case you didnt know. ;)

The thing I've been trying to say is that when these Dr.'s are treating Lyme and Lyme *only* then they're not often successful in getting rid of it...and relapses are very common.

However, when they treat the metals AND the Lyme....guess what....the prognosis is MUCH better....and the Lyme doesnt come back....neither does the candida.

Some people might want to know that....even if you dont.

I would just like to remind everyone of the rules of the board. Golden rule #1 being the one that most fits the situation that I am seeing here. Please take some time to read them and follow them :)

Do not be abusive or otherwise out of line towards other board members. Show respect for each board member, no matter what you think of their views. This is not a place to quarrel.

Do not promote your own business, Web site or products--even if they offer free services. The proper place to post your Web site, business or other services is in your profile, not in your signature block or in posts.

Do not spam the boards (i.e., post the same thing in multiple topics or areas of the board to bring more attention to your post), or bump posts up to bring more attention to them (Wikipedia definition of "bumping": Someone wishing to keep a thread on this first page, or bring an old thread back to it will post a reply to it purely to do this).

No Trolling. Wikipedia definition of trolling: "In Internet terminology, a troll is often someone who comes into an established community such as an online discussion forum, and posts inflammatory, rude, repetitive or offensive messages designed intentionally to annoy or antagonize the existing members or disrupt the flow of discussion, including the personal attack of calling others trolls. Often, trolls assume multiple aliases, or sock puppets."

OK...so after 15 months of posting scientificness and research and sharing my story....I'm pretty much done with it. I think I've spent a great deal of time and energy on this stuff and I'll continue my journey and sharing my story much more privately from this point on.

Theres still alot more for me to learn. I'm not anywhere near done with my personal journey but I'm glad for everything thats been discovered here over this past 15 months. :)

I hope it will be helpful for many others who stumble on this thread....theres alot of good stuff in these pages. Its really only the beginning for me...I know I dont have all the answers...which is why I continue to branch out and learn new things.

I'm not willing to hang everything on one diagnosis. If I had done that with my Lyme diagnosis back in October...I would be in for one heck of a long battle....about as fruitful as the one I've been having with candida. I now realize that chronic illness doesnt really work that way....theres alot of things to address....the whole "onion layer" thing.

So yeah.....definately lots more to learn.

Obviously from reading Carla's posts people just arent interested anymore...afraid to post even.

I dont think I've ever shot people down in this thread or made people feel unwelcome. From the start I've been trying to help provide as much info. as I possibly can.

My posts from now on will not contain scientifiness.....can you imagine?? :o

Yeah...I assure you....I can post things that have nothing to do with anything every day. :)

Rachel--24 Collaborator
Rachel, you have not been open to other's ideas. I am NOT the only one who feels this way ... I won't divulge how I know this, but I do, for sure. You've been very rude.

You're right...I'm not open to the idea that Candida is an infection all on its own and if you starve it for maybe 20 years...you *might* get better.

You're absolutely right about that....I'm not open to it at all.

Thats really about the only thing I can think of that I'm not open to....and I'm not gonna change my mind about it....not in this lifetime.

Sorry if thats rude.

I haven't been on in the past few days because I haven't been feeling well. I have been overwhelmed and sick lately, and haven't been posted, and only occassionally reading, as I seem to be having trouble comprehending anything that is longer than three words :(

Coming back to read this upsets me. All I have to offer is to re-read our darling Mia's posts, and remember that we all need each other's support and information. I hope that no one leaves, and that no one stops posting valuable information.

xoxo

Hi everyone

Came to the library today to print the papers of Dr. K. Our printer isn't working, and guess what neither is there's today.

So I should take it slow with the comprehensive minerals? So magnesium one day. then zinc three days later, then copper 3 days later. I guess this is how I understand it? I finally found out what makes my stomach shrink as I eat. It the seeds in the squash. The flesh is ok but not the seeds. I wonder if this is what's blocking me from digesting my food?

Time almost up

(sigh)

Rachel, I don't think you are as far off from Tom and Carla as you think.

You are each coming to valid hypotheses based on your research combined with personal experience.

Perhaps you come across as much more rigid and uncompromising than you intend? I can see that you don't intend to be rude, but I can also see how others see you as being rude. As Miamia said so well, we are all passionate about this subject, but very few have quite as much invested here as you and Carla.

I remember when you were convinced Auxigro was causing all your problems. At least, that was the impression I had because you expressed your thoughts about it SO strongly. As it turned out, it wasn't anywhere near as big a problem as Lyme and Mercury--but I really believed at the time you would have shredded anyone who dared to suggest it wasn't The Problem and killing everyone in the country. That may not have been how you intended to come across, but that was the impression I had way back then.

I think all of you really do have the right to express your beliefs strongly. I'm sure that, even though you disagree on a couple of basic points, you each know more about health/Lyme/babesia/gluten, etc than 99% of American doctors. And you have all certainly been through enough to have earned the right to strongly express your thoughts.

But here, at the point where your hypotheses diverge, you all must agree to disagree--without insisting on convincing each other--or anyone else--that you are Right.

Rachel and Carla, very few people understand what you have each gone through. You have a common history (Lyme/gluten/mercury/etc) that links you as though you were sisters. (Lyme infections run thicker than water?)

I really hope you don't lose that special bond.

Maybe you could each take a couple of days off, and then start over?

Dear Donna,

That is weird about the bad mood last week. I think we all have our days. It is just like that. They are difficult to avoid. They come and they go!

Shingles!? :o I never thought of that! It is difficult to say. The rash pretty much went away on its own. I think I put some hydrocortisone cream on it, though. There was not much that could have been done for it.

Dear Kat,

I know how devastating the Parkinson's diagnosis must have been. :( My grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's about a year and a half ago. It was horrible. We have always been close. My heart breaks everyday over it. The worst part is knowing there is nothing I can do to fix it.

I know mercury plays a role in Alzheimer's as well. The disease is awful. So is Parkinson's. I agree there is no way it is a coincidence that your mother became ill after the dental work was done. It makes plenty of sense.

Dear tom,

I know nothing about flutes. I would like to play one, though. Maybe someday when I am rich and can afford a good one! It also helps when you can afford lessons! Having an instrument is sort of pointless when you do not know how to play it!

I am sorry this is a hard day for you. :( Your brother really seemed to be a great guy. You might think of it as odd to hear this, but both are probably around you all of the time! You just do not notice! Remember, just because they are physically dead, does not mean they are gone. HUGS!

Dear Carla,

I wish I had a flute! I know my cousin used to play. My aunt and uncle probably do not have it anymore. It would be wonderful to be able to play one. They are such beautiful sounding instruments! I have a composition I need to try on one, but cannot without a flute!

Dear Alison,

The tick is still moving around in the bag? Yikes! What does it take to kill those things? Good lord! Spritz that puppy with some Raid! I hope you get some answers soon. What are you planning to do?

Dear Rachel,

I appreciate the scientificness. I think many do, even if they do not always agree. We all have different situations.

There are so many roads we can go down. I have learned so much from everyone!

Dear Lisa,

Maybe it would be best not to overdo the supplements. Do what you feel is best. I can see why you are nervous. I am that way, too. When your body is that out of whack, fueling the fire is one thing you do avoid at all costs!

I too, am saddened by the discord. We are here because we want to learn and get well. Everyone has shared so much! Why throw that away? One argument exists due to there being several different views. It is alright to disagree, but hostility helps nothing. The negative energy only serves one purpose. That purpose is to destroy us and tear us down.

Dear KAG,

I have heard a lot of horror stories about birth control contributing to Candida. I have Candida right now. I was on antibiotics several times per year since birth, then add steroids for asthma in my teens for several years, and Depo-Provera for cysts, and you get an evil Candida trifecta! It is a nasty beast to tangle with. Hopefully, I will be able to get rid of it, but there is a lot of work to be done!

Dear Bev,

I think those grumpy moods are normal. Being exhaustipated probably does not help! I could see where it makes you uncomfortable and unhappy. Maybe you will feel better soon. It could be part of that herx or something.

Shingles is something I never thought of. Someone else mentioned it, too. It was either Alison or Carla. Donna mentioned it, too. The rash was blotchy. It was not scaly or anything. The itch was enough to drive you crazy, though!

Dear Andrea,

That is awful! You drove all the way there only to go back home with nothing! I am so sorry. Imagine that, a doctor calling in sick! They really should have kept in mind you would have to know sooner about cancellations considering the distance!

Dear Mia,

I agree that we are all compassionate about things. I am so sad about the situation here in Rachelville. Everyone is attacking each other all of the sudden. We cannot forsake all of the wonderful laughter, our happiness, our heartbreak that we have experienced together. What has happened here?

Dear Patti,

It is nice to see you! You have not been posting much lately. Have you been busy? I know you are moving soon to PA. I was wondering if your stress level is alright, too. I know you can get pretty nervous over things, and then it irritates your stomach like it does mine.

Dear Laura,

I am so sorry you feel so badly! I had a rough day yesterday evening, and the other day, too. It was a creamed corn overdose, I think. That stuff is deadly! Stay away from it! We are talking scatological terror!

Dear Jessica,

I am glad you stepped in. Everyone has gotten crazy all of the sudden! It is nice someone came in here and reminded us to be congenial. I also am glad you helped me think of all of the good things everyone has said in the past. We all came together for a reason, and it was to support each other!

Sincerely,

Jin

Okay guys everyone. This needs to stop. Don't argue for arguements sake and forgive each other. Remember Golden rule number 1. Everyone need to release some steam.

Can't we just all get along. I look forward to coming to the board and reading and talking to you all. Without you guys I would have given up long ago. Sometimes I still do. This really depresses me and makes me worse.

Do we want to do this to others? Not if we really care right? :) I might be one of the sickest ones here and I still know how to keep my cool. So yeah.

Why she leave?

She didn't feel other opinions, etc were tolerated very well.

I guess it's just the nature of the beast sometimes.

I appreciate Rachel's time in posting everything she does and I also like to hear from others. I have Rachel to thank for bringing my attention to the doctors in Bellevue.

I also appreciate the time that Carla spends in answering posts. I think Jin is the queen of responding to everyone though.......along with Donna.

This thread has been through scraps before and it's survived. I hope this time is no different. I've grown to love this place and the people in it.

I'm still feeling        for each and every one of you! Really! Each one of you has brought so much into my life. I can't even imagine what would have happened had I not stumbled onto this little piece of the board. At dinner tonight, one friend asked how I figured out all this stuff about my health, and I said, well, I was led to it. I came to this online message board because of gluten, but found a group of people who similarly weren't getting well with just gluten-free alone and who have worked together for months and months, trying to help each other figure things out. It's just amazing to me! I'm hoping that if it's just not possible to continue here, that we can at least keep in touch by email somehow!

as I seem to be having trouble comprehending anything that is longer than three words

Oh, you and me both...it's been especially bad the last couple of weeks...my eyes just gloss over at the darnedest things. I'm even zoning out while at work...hard to proof legal documents when you can't read more than three words at a time.

Yes, you've got it...magnesium one day, then zinc three days later...that gives each supplement a chance to get into your system and for you to see if there might be a reaction to a particular one. I think as sensitive as you are you'd know right away, but better to give it three days.

Seeds are incredibly hard to digest for some people. Whenever I eat a cucumber I peel it and scrape the seeds out.

Shingles!? I never thought of that! It is difficult to say. The rash pretty much went away on its own. I think I put some hydrocortisone cream on it, though. There was not much that could have been done for it.

Yes, you mentioned itchy....I don't remember my shingles rash being itchy, just very painful...there may have been some itching as well, but I mostly remember the pain. :(

Man, after seeing the past several dozen posts here, I'm glad I haven't been involved. And I won't be after this

Richard, I don't know if you'll come back or not, but really, this thread has been almost entirely about love and support. Over 1100 pages of pure support. What's happened in the last few days is a shocker and is not really what has been going on here the entire time.

Interesting you mention MCAS. I have come across mcas before but I wasn’t entirely sure if that’s what it was. When I eat certain food like dairy or soy my face gets so hot and I feel flush and my heart rate shoot’s up. And sometimes my bottom lip swells or I get hives somewhere. This started happening after I had a really bad case of Covid.  Before that I was able to eat all those things (minus gluten) I was diagnosed with celiac way before I had Covid.  Hmm, not sure really. I may look for a different allergist my current one told me to take Zyrtec and gave me an epi pen.

This is all really useful information, thank you so much to you both.    I have a history of B12 and vit D deficiency which has always just been treated and then ignored until it’s now again.

Welcome to the forum, @Gill.brittany8! There are two main genes that have been identified as creating potential for developing celiac disease, HLDQ2 and HLDQ8. Your daughter has one of them. So, she possesses genetic the potential to develop celiac disease. About 40% of the general population carries one or both of these genes but only about 1% of the general population develops celiac disease. It takes both the genetic potential and some kind of triggering stress factor (e.g., a viral infection or another prolonged health problem or an environmental factor) to "turn on" the gene or genes. Unfortunately, your daughter's doctor ordered a very minimal celiac antibody panel, the tTG-IGA and total IGA. Total IGA is not even a test per celiac disease per se but is a check for IGA deficiency. If the person being checked for celiac disease is IGA deficient, then the scores for individual IGA tests (such as the tTG-IGA) will be abnormally low and false negatives can often be the result. However, your daughter's total IGA score shows she is not IGA deficient. You should consider asking our physician for a more complete celiac panel including DGP-IGA, TTG_IGG and DGP-IGG. If she had been avoiding gluten that can also create false negative test results as valid antibody testing requires having been consuming generous amounts of gluten for weeks leading up to the blood draw. Do you know if the GI doc who did the upper GI took biopsies of the duodenum and the duodenum bulb to check for the damage to the small bowel lining caused by celiac disease? Having said all that, her standard blood work shows evidence of possible celiac disease because of an elevated liver enzyme (Alkaline Phosphatase) and low values for hemoglobin.
    • Gill.brittany8
Hi everyone  After years of stomach issues being ignored by doctors, my 9 y/o daughter finally had an upper endoscopy which showed a ton of stomach inflammation. The GI doctor ordered some bloodwork and I’m attaching the results here. Part will be from the CBC and the other is celiac specific. I’m not sure what’s relevant so I’m just including extra information just in case.   The results are confusing because they say “No serological evidence of celiac disease. tTG IgA may normalize in individuals with celiac disease who maintain a gluten-free diet. Consider HLA DQ2 and DQ8 testing to rule out celiac disease.” But just a few lines down, it says DQ2 positive. Can someone help make sense of this? Thanks so much.  result images here: https://ibb.co/WFkF0fm https://ibb.co/kHvX7pC https://ibb.co/crhYp2h https://ibb.co/fGYFygQ
