Dear Andrea,

Thank you for the update on Julie and Rinne! At least they have been on here! Hopefully they will post soon! That would be nice! Virtual Rinne Bars are better than none! :)

Dear Donna,

I am glad you are done with your liver function test, now! I can see where you would not want to keep those vials in the fridge. It always seems better when they are out of there! Once they are at the lab, everything seems better! We will be anxious to hear the results!

The parsley is great for detox from what I hear. You can get fresh, then freeze it. That should prevent mold from being a problem. Thawing it is another story. The big concern is probably whether or not it could tolerate it. Texture is easily ruined by freezing some foods.

Thanks for the almond butter tip. If I get to have some soon, I will flip the jar. I think I heard about that somewhere. I also could remix it in my Magic Bullet. It is great for things like that.

Yes, Sven would be a great servant! The one rule is he must have his shirt off at all times.:) I can be a Queen of Laziness as well. In case you guys get too tired, I can take you or Kat's place when need be! The jacuzzi and sofa can only fit two people, after all.

When we are working, we get stone messages! Here is a lazy thing I do: I actually do not bother eating my vegetables or fruit out of a bowl, I just eat it straight from the can! Hey, it saves dishes! I am the only one who does them anyway! It is not like anyone else gives a crap.

The air hunger thing is something I might have, too. I thought it was asthma, but now I wonder.

It was better for a while, then more recently, like Carla described, it feels like I cannot get enough air.

There just does not seem to be enough oxygen. My lung capacity is fine, so I do not know what else could cause that.

Dear Carla,

Air hunger seems to be a symptom I have as well. I did not know what that was. It was so strange. Maybe I should start doing Pilates again. That might help that. At least you only get it when you herx now!

Dear tom,

Reply when you can! Do not worry! I am patient. I have class tonight at 8pm, then I have to go get some sleep. I have to go to the dentist tomorrow. So, if you PM me or anything and I do not answer, you will know why!

Bummer! I missed the nutrition consultation. Maybe some other time? That would be awesome! I saw a dietician a couple of years ago, and I seemed to know more than her! Maybe I should be a dietician.

Dear Patti,

Hello Angel Spice! How are you doing? I hope well. You know I was watching a show called "Sell This House" and I could not believe how picky buyers were. There was like one goldfish cracker on the floor from these people's kids, and they made a federal case out of it. They also swiped their finger on the fans and stuff checking for dust! :o

Dear Susie,

I am glad you are back on! Those sofas sound great! You sure went through a lot of crap to get them! I have no clue what I will do when I get my own place. There are a lot of nice places to buy from. God I hope I get rich and move out soon!

Sincerely,

Jin

P.S.S. Has anyone spoken to Julie, JennyK, Lisa, or Rinne? I am worried about them.

I talked to Lisa on Friday....she was at the library. She might have mold in her room.... she was gonna see if her mom could clean it. I told her to leave while it gets cleaned and to air the house out really good...and maybe wear a mask.

I never thought I had this symptom, but I've been thinking about it for the last few weeks and I do have it (or at least I THINK I do, or at least something like it). For me, it's like I'm breathing, but I can't get enough air. I feel like I have to constantly take really deep breaths to get any air. Not sure that's exactly it. It doesn't happen all the time, just sometimes. Like even right now, I feel like I need to breathe deeper to get air.

I used to have this problem really bad back when I was eating all normal foods and really sick. I could never get enough air.

Once I changed my diet it went away completely.

Its funny because just a few days ago I felt it again....its like my chest feels swollen and I cant get enough air through. I started thinking about it too much and felt like I was gonna have a panic attack in my car. I just made myself not think about it and I calmed down.

Anyways...the only thing I've done differently is eat a boatload of cookies.

I think when I eat the wrong stuff it causes more imflammation and I just cant get adequate air through. But yeah...I guess I dont care whether or not I can breathe cuz I'm still eating the cookies.

Thanks for the info. on the hot stones. :)

Willow Glen's not too out of the way but I think I wanna get a lymph massage first. :)

Oh....my newest investment is a mini trampoline.

I'm gonna bounce the toxins right outta my body. :D

Mia,

Awesome that you were able to talk to your Dr. when you called. I'm glad you're asking the questions and also getting answers to your questions too!! Its a good feeling to have some direction.

I think you are going to be alot more focused and "in charge" from here on out. :)

Not off topic ta all...I see that Tom touched briefly on this already so I'm just adding my agreement. My couch is ESSENTIAL to my recovery from whatever it is I'm recovering from. :P

Mmmmmm maybe what we need is MORE 'favorite furniture' procurement tales. :o

We could couch the medical issues for a bit and settle into our settees a little north of Santa Cruz CA - a nice coastal town known as Davenport - for some sofa king crazy stories! :P:lol:

You were probably walking in the densest part of Willow Glen, this place is down farther...almost by Curtner Avenue. It's called Just for Your Health--it's also a school.

Ahhhh yes you are Cooorrrrrrect!

That bunch of blocks on Lincoln betw Willow & Minnesota defines Willow Glen for me.

I keep getting hoodwinked lately looking at ads for houses/apts where they *claim* WG, but then I find they're like S. Bascom or Hillsdale & something!!

I can't say where the alleged boundaries ARE, but I sure wouldn't call THAT far from the heart of WG a part of WG!.

Quite surprised to find some little houses affordable (to rent, anyway) w/in walking distance of Lincoln. Several even INCLUDE a gardener!!! (That part thrills me.) :) :)

I just wanted to be sure this one didn't pass anyone by ... DO NOT SAY IT OUT LOUD IN FRONT OF THE KIDS, ANDREA!!!

Who lives near Washington DC?? Is this where Laura lives??

Looking for good LLMD in DC area....anyone??

I think I might have found the solution for my problem with the big "C".....and it doesnt have anything to do with OxyPowder!! :D

WOO-HOO!!

Back when I was on my ice cream binge (and regular) I was also eating alot of applesauce. It was only one brand that I could tolerate and WF stopped carrying it. :(

I tried other brands but I was moldened by all of them so no applesauce for several months now.

This happens to me alot...I think the only things that have been "consistently" available to me are the organic beef and that ice cream which I cant have anymore. Everything else seems to come and go...which makes it difficult when you're only eating 5 foods to begin with!!

Anyways...I've eaten some ice cream here and there over the past few months but no difference in the "C".

A few days ago I saw that there were rows and rows of that applesauce BACK on the shelf!! :o

WOO-HOO...I bought 6 jars. :D

Yesterday I had my OWN normal bm...no warm water assistance needed. YAY!!

Do you guys think it was the applesauce all along...and not the ice cream??

Oh....my newest investment is a mini trampoline.

I LOVE my mini trampoline...I've been jumping on it every day for several weeks now. I've had the darned thing for maybel 3 years now. I really do think it's making a difference. I commented on that on the fitness forum I post on...the girls there are big on rebounding, and they've been saying for years now that it's good for the lymph system to bounce. I've known it, but just been lazy. A few weeks ago I decided I'd give my lymph system a boost and have been spending time on it every day.

We could couch the medical issues for a bit and settle into our settees a little north of Santa Cruz CA - a nice coastal town known as Davenport - for some sofa king crazy stories! :P:lol:

Wow, affordable houses to rent WITH GARDENERS is surprising to me, lol. Yeah, definitely Bascom or Hillsdale is NOT WIllow Glen, that's crazy talk.

Whenever I get my flooring replaced, I'll be getting a new sofa...the tales will have to wait until then. :(

I dont see too many people here with corn problems but hopefully someone has some advice about the thyroid meds??

Hi There Rachel!

I have to say this is really funny that the first post I read & respond to is yours, since you just told me to come here. Anyway...

I don't know about the corn, but are you hypo or hyper thyroid?

My doc to me I was hypo a few years back, and, being that we are both anti medication unless all else fails, he suggested I start eating red meat, because there is some thing in it (lysine? tyrosine? I forget) that helps with the regulation of your thyroid.

Do you eat meat? Red meat? That could maybe help.

I had been a vegitarian for four years before that, and damed if eating red meat didn't work for me. Course, this was pre-celiac dx, so it might have just been the elimination of so many fake meats containing vital wheat gluten...

I didn't read through the rest of the thread yet, so I don't know if anyone else mentioned this, but I thought I'd toss it out there because it is the only solution I could think of...

NoGluGirl Contributor

Dear Rachel,

The applesauce is a good idea. I have been eating a lot lately. Probably too much. I do not know how you only ate five foods for so long. I would not be able to do it. I say, you deserve some freakin' cookies! :D

I am sorry about the almost panic attack, though. Those are nasty. My mother takes Xanax. I cannot tell you how many people take that stuff. Someone just suggested to me that I probably need some for going to the dentist. I will not take that crap! Second, I would not be nervous at all if I knew my stomach was going to behave.

I have a trampoline. I used to rebound and do aerobics on it. Maybe I should go back to it. That might make me feel better. I would love to try. I just do not know if my body can handle it.

Thanks for the update on Lisa. I was worried. She needs to protect herself from the mold. The mask sounds like a good idea! It sure is terrible having it all over our house. :(

Dear Carla,

Wee Todd Did? What the heck? I am lost here. I do not recall reading about that anywhere.

Does it have to do with the Tickle Me Elbow Thread? I have not gotten to read that.

Dear tom,

I need to check out the Tickle Me Elbow Thread. All of this sofa king stuff has got me confused. I do not know a lot about sofas. I have never bought one! I sleep on one a lot, though!

Sometimes, it is more comfortable or convenient.

That is a nice avatar. I think you had that one up before. I wish I could go to the beach. It would be nice. Relaxing is something I do not know how to do. I never get the chance.

Dear Donna,

Those mini-trampolines are great. Plus, they are easy to store if you do not have a lot of space. Mine has legs you can undo. I also have a ski machine. I do not know if that is good for the lymphatic system or not.

Places with a gardener for a good price? That is something! I am surprised at that. I do not think we have a place around here like that. We do have some apartments for $400 - $480 per month. Those are the least expensive in town at the moment.

Sincerely,

Jin

If you don't get it ... have someone else say it out loud for you. :) There's nothing to get .... it's a play on words that is totally obvious when someone else is saying it ... you can try to say it out loud and see if you "hear" it ... but not to be said out loud around children ... except for the Wee Todd Did part, that's clean, it's Tom's part that has a wordy dird in it.

I didn't read through the rest of the thread yet

Oh, don't read the rest of the thread, just jump in here ... unless you've got a LOT of time on your hands. :)

My Dr. wanted me to get up to about 18 drops a day. I have no problems taking this much (9 drops 2 x a day)...I've never gotten any noticeable symptoms as I increased the drops. My Lyme infection isnt severe though....some people cant take this many drops w/out getting symptoms.

Some people take 30+ drops per day....it really depends on the individual...some might only tolerate 5 drops...and others do fine with 35 drops.

Mine is $50 as well...I think thats the norm for samento/cats claw tinctures.

The most expensive thing I've taken is NDF....at $100 for one ounce. The NDF is for chelating metals. I got very symptomatic with this one...I was only supposed to take 1/2 a drop every other day and slowly increase by 1/2 drop every week up to 3 drops per day (if possible).

Hi Rachel, Well after yours and Donna's replies, I guess I'm not being singled out for overpricing. Ouch on the NDF price! I think I'm going to increase my Samento. I'm used to taking 30 drops at a time of other herbal tinctures, so I think I can handle more than 5 drops at a time.

Yep, I take two of the NutraMedix drops...Cumanda and Banderol and they are both $50!!! Luckily I get to rotate them so they last a long time. Scott told me to take like 10 drops twice a day, but Anna tested them and said I should only take 5 drops twice a day...so looks like they'll last even longer. I also put all my drops in water.

Where do you get the parsley?

Hi Donna, My parsley tincture is also from NutraMedix, and a bargain at $30 an ounce . Really, I don't know what they are doing with these tinctures. I used to make my own herbal tinctures and they worked just fine. I could make a gallon of tincture at that price!

If anyone is interested, I thought I would mention where I'm at being thread mistress when I'm not here. It's a thread on another forum called Open Original Shared Link . So, if you are interested in learning about fertility and Chinese medicine (acupuncture and herbs), that's the place to go!

I vote for applesauce. We have the best one here. It's grown on the Western Slope of Colorado, and I just found out from the folks who grow it that WF is not carrying it anymore  . I buy it at the farmer's market anyways, cuz WF marks it up so much.

I LOVE my mini trampoline...I've been jumping on it every day for several weeks now. I've had the darned thing for maybel 3 years now. I really do think it's making a difference. Wow, really? I've got a mini-trampoline that I couldn't get rid of. So, what's the secret girls? How much bouncing?

Claire

P.S. Wee Todd Did - ohhhh, I finally get it :P ! I had to say it a bunch of times. Gawd, I'm slow  , forgive the pun.

I asked him about foods that would be helpful he gave me a list-

this is it more or less- cilantro, sea veggies, sulfur rich food, asparagus, dandelion greens, cucumber, bitter greens (collards, etc.) , garlic. There was some more but these are the ones I wrote down because the others seemed really unappetizing. He also told me watermelon but i told him i do really bad with sweet stuff. But maybe since i am pretty good about sugar other wise i could try it- but again i react badly to sweet stuff so we will see.

Thanks for the list Miamia. That's worth repeating again! Good for you for being pro-active with your doctor! I'm sure as your intestines get better, the chelation will go smoother.

I think I will go pick the collards in my garden that I've been neglecting!

Lillyth,

I would suggest NOT reading through the whole thread.....its got over 20,000 posts!! :P

My first post about the corn was over a year ago....alots been discovered here since then. Corn was actually not my problem....it was more of an issue with mold. I cant eat any moldy foods....including all grains. :(

I got diagnosed with the Lyme and heavy metals last year....all the stuff that we were mentioning on the other board....those things were the cause of my illness.

I eat tons of red meat. A high protein diet is important for the body to be able to detoxify itself. All the amino acids in protein serve a purpose of helping to keep the toxins from accumulating in our bodies. The heavy metals, environmental toxins...as well as all of the chemicals we encounter in our food supply and elsewhere.

I've read many times that a vegetarian diet slows down the body's ability to detox. Some Dr.'s say a person with heavy metal toxicity, candida, or any chronic illness caused by toxins...cannot recover while on a vegetarian diet because they arent taking in the essential amino acids necessary for detox.

Gluten and dairy can do the same thing....especially if the person is intolerant....or in your case Celiac....it makes it harder for your body to detox.

That might be why you felt better when you started eating the red meat....and obviously eliminating the gluten...those things would have helped you alot....especially since you have Candida and the overgrowth itself creates a heavy toxic burden.

Glad you found your way back over here!! :)

Rachel--24 Collaborator
Yeah, could be. Apples have more fiber but wouldn't think that would be enough...oh wait, you're Rachel... j/k!!!!

Yeah....so we are not talking about a cup of applesauce :P

Its usually one full jar per day....and the jars are big. So could that be enough to keep things moving??

Today was day #2 of unassisted bm's!!

WOO-HOO....I'm on a role here people!

Oh...and is it Wednesday yet?? B)

Dear Carla,

I got it now! Wee Todd Did!:P It took me a bit! Once you say it out loud, then you get it! I cannot believe it took me so freakin' long! If I had not talked to tom, it might not have donned on me at all!

Dear Claire,

Do not feel bad, it took me a bit to get the joke, too! I do not know why. Tom had to point out the obvious! I felt so dumb once I got it! Anyhow, you are not the only one that missed the joke!

Yes, the applesauce is great. I get Wal-Mart's brand. It is labeled gluten-free. It does have some no so healthy stuff in it. However, it is affordable and tasty.

The trampoline is nice to have. Bouncing is good for you. It is also easy on your joints. I think that is why the Fibromyalgia did not hurt me until I got older. My late teens is when it got noticable.

Dear Rachel,

Wahoo! Wednesday is coming! Wednesday is coming! It will be here before you know it! Hopefully, I will have good news to report on Dad's job situation. Maybe this employer won't screw him out of what he earned. Oh, the joys of corporate America.

Dear Lillyth,

Hello and welcome to the thread! It was really interesting what you said about red meat. I did not know that it could help the Thyroid. I have Thyroid disease as well. Right now, mine is hyper. I am not sure if eating red meat is bad for it overactive Thyroid or not.

Sincerely,

Ahhhh I forgot!

Right before I headed out to Mill Ave (great area - for SJers it's a bit of a cross betw Lincoln in WG and Santana Row), I saw that "From Here to Eternity" was coming on, and just had to go to the pic of MY beach :P , the spot where its most famous scene was filmed.

OkeyDoke, movie long over. Time to switch avatar again.

Wellllllllllll, "affordable" is a sliding scale type of thing. Bay Area got slid up.

$2k is great for that house tho. It's 2br and I'd have the non-slob roommate, who already agreed his (ugh) cologne would stay in the car LOL. :)

Dear tom,

That is so strange that I never saw those posts from Nikki or Elye! <_< I wonder why I never saw them? WTH? I hope they do not think I ignored them or anything. Is it just me, or is something odd going on with this board? This happens a lot lately, where posts do not show up until later.

Meanwhile, I will be sure to check out that other thread! The Tickle Me Elbow Thread is so cute!

It is like a play on words for Tickle Me Elmo! I have one of those! I am not sure where he is at now!

That beach is so inviting! I would not mind staying near that place! Your new avatar is groovy!

I love it! I tried to search for them on the internet, but they do not have a Web site. You can get directions to the place, though! A place selling similar items is www.gypsyrose.com.

It would be great if you could room with the not sloppy dude. I can handle some stuff, but some people are just disgusting. My father will have trash halfway up the wall in the bedroom! He is like the love child of Lotta Litter and Oscar Madison! I have never seen anything like it!

Re-poe-did! That is hilarious! ROTFLMAO! I hope you do not get re-poe-did. I would not think so. I have seen a couple of posts on other threads that would make nearly anyone blush. I was shocked this one guy was not reported for what he put. (It involved self-gratification, that is all I am going to say!) Can you say EEWWW!?

Dear Carla,

I did not see the sofa post yet! I need to go look at that thread! I am sure I will enjoy it. Right now, I have a lot to do before my dentist's appointment. I am so nervous. I have had scatological terror attacks four times already, and I have only been up for a few hours.

Dear Elye,

ROTF! That is what we do ask a lot. We must be suckers for punishment. I can see how this is an unfair question. It is just, men do not understand this at all. When we say this, we actually are hoping our husband, boyfriend, or whoever tell us how beautiful we look! Our self-esteem is low and we need a boost when we ask this. I would have responded to your post earlier, but I never saw it!

Dear Nikki,

I love that saying! They have it on a plaque now you can get! All of those t-shirts have funny sayings, too. Another plaque I like was one by Emo Philips. It says "Somedays, it just doesn't pay to gnaw through the leather straps." Here is something interesting, tom shares his birthday, February 7th with Emo! Charles Dickens was also born on that date many years earlier.

Dear Andrea,

Yep, I would vote for the applesauce as well. In fact, I think that may be part of my colon trouble at the moment. Too much of a good thing is not good for you either! Some fiber is good, but not a whole lot! I ate some raw carrots the other day, and I do not think that helped my situation any.

Dear Rachel,

Two more days, Rachel! Two more days! Tomorrow you will be ready to explode! Don't worry, it will come quickly! LED! LED! Couch king! Oops!:blink:

Sincerely,

Jin

Carla-

thanks for the description of Air hunger. this is definitly one of my symptoms. It's funny i have described this to so many doctors over the course of my illness and no one has connected it with lyme, metal, herxing or anything.

It has improved but the past week i ahve had some weird symptoms including alot of return of symptoms and this is a major one . It is worst when i am eating and makes it that much harder.

I am going to talk to my doctor about it.

I wonder if it could be some sort of herx from the chelation or parasite killing stuff. Does anyone have an opinion on this?

Rachel-

Yeah on the bowels. What apple sauce are you eating?

It's Monday- Wednesday is so close!!!!!!

I have though about investing in a rebounder - mini tramp - before. You guys are maing me think its a good idea.

Donna-

that massage sounds fantastic- i am so happy you had it- and you've definitly sparked my interest- i might need one of these.

Today i have physical therapy it might be my last one . While i feel it is helpful it is just so much money and i i am not sure the benefits are enough to justify the cost at this point now that i know about the metals being such a huge issue and the cost of chelation and everything else i am doing. I hate MONEY!!! It seems so unfair i ahve to weigh what treatment i can get based on cost. SO FRUSTRATING!!!

tomorrow i have my 4th chelation they are also going to give me some salt solution stuff to traise my blood pressure becasue it is so low and getting chelation can make it go even lower. Its kind of annoying becasue i ahve a hard time sitting still and it will make the treatment longer but at least the center i go to is really airy and nice , that makes it a little easier. But I still ahve ants in my pants syndrome.

Where is RINNE????

Oh Jin-

I hate mixing nut butters!!!!! Almond butter is definitly the worst!! I always feel like i ahve gotten a work out once i mix a jar up.

HOw is your candida diet going?

Dear Mia,

Well, so far, I have cut out a lot of excess sugar. I also stopped eating peanut butter. There are a lot of other things I am going to have to get rid of, too. I am doing a little at a time! I wish I could afford some nut butters, but stirring them up is exhausting!

Like you said, it does feel like a workout! I am in the midst of designing my rotation diet. That will help get into the diet further. My arm gets tired from it very quickly. Now that I have a Magic Bullet, that should help with the nut butters a lot when I can get them! Maybe after I go to the dentist I will get to pop by the health food store and get some bread I can have with no yeast or gluten.

I can bet the air hunger is from Babs. You could be herxing some. The parasites dying off could be stirring up the metals more. I would not be surprised. According to Rachel's scientificness, that would be my best guess.

I think I am having a bit of a herx from the Himalayan sea salt. Was it Rinne who mentioned that?

I think someone said they herxed when using the salt. I probably have low blood pressure as well. I read about Neurally Mediated Hypotension, and salt was recommended to keep it up. I did feel better after eating salty foods a lot.

If you feel like you are going to pass out a lot, that could be your trouble. My previous MD told me that could cause me to feel the way I am feeling. There are times upon standing up I nearly pass out. Even stretching can do it to me! It is really scary! Does anyone else have trouble with this?

I do not have a clue where Rinne is. I think she was on here reading the other day. She never posted, though. I hope she is doing okay. Hopefully, we will hear from her soon!

Sincerely,

Jin

@Rogol72, dermatitis herpetiformis occurs in a minority of celiac patients and if the OP hasn't developed it yet I doubt it will show up in the future. I think it unwise to use a scare tactic that probably won't materialize in the OP's experience. It has a good chance of backfiring and having the opposite effect.

Hi @trents, You're correct. The OP mentioned fatigue and vitamin deficiencies as the only symptoms at the time of diagnosis. Since the family are not taking him/her seriously and find them to be too fussy, I suggested showing them pictures of dermatitis herpetiformis as one of the consequences of not taking the gluten-free diet seriously ... would make life easier for him/her, and the family might begin to take his/her strict gluten-free diet more seriously. A picture says a thousand words and the shock factor of dermatitis herpetiformis blisters might have the desired effect. The OP did say ... "How do you deal with people close to you who just refuse to understand? Are there any resources anyone could recommend for families that are short and easy to read?".  @sillyyak52, It might also help mentioning to your family that Coeliac Disease is genetic and runs in families. Any one of them could develop it in the future if they have the HLA DQ 2.5 gene. Here's a Mayo Clinic study calling for screening of family members of Coeliacs ... https://newsnetwork.mayoclinic.org/discussion/mayo-clinic-minute-celiac-disease-screening-for-family-members/ https://newsnetwork.mayoclinic.org/discussion/mayo-clinic-study-calls-for-screening-of-family-members-of-celiac-disease-patients/ I got glutened a few months ago because I missed the may contains statement on a tub of red pesto. It was my own fault but it happens.

Oh yes.  I would never recommend taking it for an extended period of time.  When 70% of my body was covered in blistering itchy sores, an amazing doctor prescribed it diagnostically because I was unwilling to do a gluten challenge after already going strictly gluten-free in desperation after 10 years of suffering and being poo pooed by dermatologist after dermatologist. The fact that it stopped the itch and mostly cleared the rash after about 2 months was diagnostic for him.  I stopped it and have remained strictly gluten-free with very few flares since that time (over 10 years ago).  So the fact that it cleared the rash was diagnostic for me.
