Quick drive by update:

The "gua sha" wasn't that painful, but the foot scraping sounds like it would be. I don't recommend this to anyone who wants to where a swimming suit soon! My back is red and purple. It isn't bad enough that I am not willing to do it again.

Fatigue hit me hard yesterday, am better today after ecoffee. Also looks like my cycle might be starting...first time in a few months, so might account for some of the symptoms.

Also I should have mentioned that the lady said after she was done that I should not take a bath for 24 hours, because now the pores were all opened and would be excreting toxins.

Sherry,

Did you ever notice a worsening of food intolerance, yeast or digestive symptoms after your dose of DMPS?? I've read lots of info about the orals wreaking havoc on the autistic kids who have leaky gut/yeast issues. My Dr. also told me that he doesnt like to use them because most of his patients get worse GI problems from them.

If you notice any kind of worsening of gut stuff...it might be worth it to look into that.

I haven't noticed any significance at least nothing that is consistent. I need to review back and figure out when I first started it and compare with the onset of nausea in 2005.

I know that my doc wasn't that excited about using the oral one but with my being far away, it was the option we had.

After I doubled my dose this fall, I also haven't notice much difference. My food intolerances are something I have lived with, and as I have mentioned before, I have only removed the ones that cause more strong reactions. So there is likely enough masking occurring there to make it not clear anyway. The constipation and bloating have been ongoing for a long time.

Currently the nausea is off and on and very mild after some meals, clears on its own or with a DGL dose (licorice).

Its possible I am not absorbing it that well.

you really need a Hematologist to interpret that because it's not so clean cut...I need 150 points because of my height, weight, etc. but she may only need 50. Do you get it?

If you have any more questions...ask away! I hope your mom feels better soon! It's no fun!!

Gotcha. And DON'T worry about too much info, I totally appreciate it, and am taking notes! :D I knew there was someone here who did egg-white protein powder, but couldn't remember who. What do you put it in? Smoothies?

What led you to checking your ferritin levels?

Sarah,

The low potassium and high bp sounds like a red flag for aldosterone, which is an adrenal hormone that regulates the sodium/potassium levels in the blood.

I've never heard of this! I'll check it out.

Hi Sarah,

I'm the same age as your mom, I have Celiac and high plood pressure (but normal potassium levels), which is controlled by medication.

For awhile, we thought that her gut just needed more healing time. And while that may still be true, it's definitely become apparent that she's got other things going on. We've talked about her doing an elimination diet... And I'm still working on her, but she has a very hard time accepting that anything else can be wrong. She's one of those people who's always been very active and never sick.

She doesn't understand (and frankly, neither do I) how so many things can suddenly go bad at once! :(

Yep, dairy never showed up on any of the skin scratch tests I had done. The only place it's every shown up was in my BioSET testing and in the Enterolab testing I had done.

Yes, caprylic acid is what I take. If you get oregano oil, get teh capsules as opposed to the drops, lol...the drops are NASTY! Did I mention they were NASTY!? And Garlic is just a natural antifungal, so it's just good in general for a lot of things.

Yeah, and I was really surprised that dairy didn't show up as an allergy! With the symptoms that she had during that episode, I thought she should maybe get an EpiPen or something! Yeah, I think I remember you mentioning the nastiness of the oregano oil!

Also, every aged cheese has enough mold to be a BIG no-no for candida.

You know, as soon as she told me that the aged cheeses bothered her the most, I immediately thought about the mold factor... but I didn't make the candida connection! *sigh* Still learning... But I did ask her if was having problems with nuts, and she wasn't sure, because she rarely ever eats them. What else has a high mold content?

Sarah,

The Egg white protein powder I was putting into a smoothie in the mornings. I did frozen berries (a mix from Trader Joe's) and I did a little water (didn't do rice milk because it is SO high is sugar) and some stevia. It was great and held me over for a long time. If you want the brand name, let me know...I can look, it's downstairs...too tired right now.

The ferritin was actually taken by an acupuncturist I saw when I had been bleeding for 90 days. We saw her and she did bloodwork and was planning to get my numbers up naturally. It ended up turning out to be such a problem, I ended up at a Dr. and they FREAKED OUT!!! They also thought I had cancer...yikes! I eventually (about 1 year later) ended up at another PCP and he took more blood and told me to go take iron and come back in a month. I couldn't tolerate it orally...my stomach hurt SO bad and it made me really depressed.

I was still reallllllly tired (sleeping 20 hours on the weekends, etc.) and I wasn't able to take the iron, AND my hemoglobin was at 11 I think. That isn't too bad and definitely would not be enough to explain the exhaustion. So, we finally demanded something to be done which is when he said that they can give iron through IV...so we went to the hematologist and he is the one who took MORE blood and called us at 8.30 one night telling us we HAD to come in the next day because my ferritin was at zero! It was really scary.

That's my long (but really short version) of the ferritin. They also draw about 10 other numbers. I a lot of the times have a normal hemoglobin, but have all other numbers deficient...so I'm not anemic, but iron deficient. Anemia is a shortage of hemoglobin, iron def. is when the other numbers are low...but hemoglobin is usually fine.

Ferritin is not something they usually draw because most doctors are ignorant about hematology (remember my ER dr. experience!!!!??), so you really need a specialist to interpret them. My ob/gyn now knows which ones to take because I went over the lab orders with her and showed her...she now orders them every time I see her. I also think she learned something from it.... :).

Sarah,

Would your mom be interested in Enterolab? I showed up higher for Casein than I did gluten! It may help sway her...if she did the yeast, soy and casein? Just a thought. Because I know some people do want to see a positive test.

Hmm, it's a possibility! She's familiar with Enterolab from my research and her own. I'll have to go back on the website and check out the costs.

If there is a food that we feel we cannot live without...most likely we are intolerant to that food. I doubt it would show up in an allergy scratch test in most cases. For me it didnt show up in any traditional tests...only muscle testing and electrodermal screening. In those tests my body is reactive to all products from cow dairy....but not goat.

.......................

I felt a tiny bit nauseus when I was done...but I'm pretty sure it was because I'd been so stressed about the needle.

That really is sooooo unfair... intolerant to our favorite foods??? *sigh* Stress will totally make me nauseated in a heartbeat. What movie did you see?

Things have calmed down with my mom. I don't know if I have ever mentioned it here, but she was not formally diagnosed, but her Dr. is treating her for bi-polar disorder...so they jsut changed a medication and she is CRAZY sometimes.

I am sooo glad to hear that things between you and your mom are improving! You guys have to be a team! :D:wub:

Sherry,

Thanks for the update. Sounds like the proceedure you went through helped, but still sounds painful.

Sarah,

The name of the powder is "now foods egg white protein powder." We bought it at a local health food store because it is the only one I could find that didn't have soy lecithin, etc. in it. I don't know if you can get it online, but if need be, I can always get some for you and ship it to you. Let me know! :)

Ugh...MUST GET SLEEP! I took an advil PM 4 hours ago...so much for that!

Not sure but the locals swear by it for detox. My friend today said I'd probably need 4-5 times, and can do 2 times a month or less. Guess I'll do at least one more before I head to the USA.

Kassandra,

Hang in there, you can do this. You've gotten this far. Hopefully you'll make progress on the underlying cause and maybe won't have to do this again.

NoGluGirl Contributor

Dear Rachel,

That is really weird about the cigarette smell on you the other day. Considering you smoked for 14 years, though, maybe not. Those toxins can take a long time to clear out. Maybe they just now are beginning to clear out due to the chelation? It is only a theory, but it is a possibility.

I agree that children going through puberty so young is not good. I actually began late, when I was 14.

It was downhill from there! I have no idea how an 8 or 9 year-old could deal with cramps and bloating. If possible, I would only feed my children organic food when I raise mine.

Having an unproductive vacation is good. No work and being lazy is allowed when you are on vacation. This is what you are supposed to do! Enjoy doing nothing for a change! Our fast-paced world is not good for us. Sometimes you need to stop and slow down, and just enjoy watching an ant bring food to the nest, or view a butterfly suckling nectar from a flower.

I eat things like beef and peas at odd hours, too! I never tell myself I have to have breakfast foods in the morning. I never understood the mentality some people have about eating just because it is time to eat. They are not hungry, they just eat because you are supposed to eat dinner at 5pm! It does not make any sense!

I would be more in the holiday spirit if I knew I would not be sick and actually enjoy the holiday for a change. I am really beginning to hate holidays. I never am not sick on them, it seems. Christmas was ruined a long time ago when I had the stomach flu. Puking double noodle soup through your nose is not the best way to celebrate the holiday. Now I worry about the stomach flu more than ever around Christmas.

A Rachelville gathering would be great! By next year, we all should be doing much better! Rinne Bars will be all around! Also, do not forget those delicious new Rinne Ice Cream Sandwich treats! I would love some of those, too!

You are right. I remember you posting about how difficult it is to chelate when people are vegetarians. Was it Dr. Klinghardt's interview that had that in it? I am definitely a carnivore. When I am craving some cow, I gotta have some cow!

Pie and pumpkin cheesecake all sound wonderful! I might make some brownies. Dad just got me a bunch of mixes. One is for pancakes, one is an all-purpose baking mix, then there is the brownie mix, and some sorghum flour. I cannot wait to try them!

I think I used the Monistat 1-Day treatment. It was terrific! Unfortunately, the effect only lasted a week. Having systemic yeast, it cannot be eradicated solely by this method. Candida keeps coming back until you get rid of it in your G.I. tract. My mother seems to have a problem with it as well, but she refuses to believe she needs to take supplements and eat properly to get rid of it.

At one point, I could eat whatever I wanted and not gain any weight. That did not last long. After I became a woman officially, there were way too many fat pockets in the worst possible places. No matter what exercise I do, it is still there. That Six Week Body Makeover might work, though. It is easy to do gluten-free, and I talked to someone who has done it and she really liked it.

I agree that dairy seems to not be good for anyone. So many bad things are popping up about it. You just keep hearing more terrible stories. Dairy causes everything from constipation to acne. What it does to Celiacs is really awful.

I am so glad to hear your IV chelation went well! The pain was probably no fun. IVs are something that really need a special touch for someone to put them in and not hurt. My veins often do not want to surface, so they even had to call IV Therapy people down to help with me when I had my HIDA scan. It is natural you are going to enjoy life more now. We are all so happy for you!

Dear Carla,

Lattes would be nice, too. I ain't picky. I have not had ice cream in an eternity. One thing I really used to like was this thing that had frozen yogurt between two chocolate chip cookies. It was so good!

Your new avatar is so cute! You were a blondie! My mother was that blonde when she was that age. She said Grandpa told her that they never thought she was going to get hair! Eventually, she did. When I was a baby, I only had blonde peach fuzz, and at my Christening, my parents had to tape a bow in my hair.

The preacher's face was red from trying so hard not to laugh!

If I had to choose a favorite pie, I suppose mine is apple. I decided after the pumpkin pie pukies, pursuing that might be unwise. Pecan pie is also great, which our family often enjoyed. We are southerners, so you know we have to have our pecan pie! Cherry is another pie I really like, but will not snub blueberry, lemon meringue, coconut cream, or chocolate cream, either. In other words, if it does not move, I will probably eat it.

I will keep parsley and burbur in mind. Parsley tea is good for getting rid of toxins and bloating. Burbur was mentioned for a number of things. Does it detox you, or what exactly? Parsley would be a safer bet for me.

What a great opportunity your son has! Going abroad to study would be fantastic! I almost went to Japan, but could not afford it. Why does everything have to cost money? It is understandable why you would want some space if you do not get along very well. This is a wonderful opportunity for your son to grow as a student, a person, and a spiritual being.

Yay on the gaining 4 pounds! :) Now you can wear your clothes again. I can see why you would not want to gain too much, though. The trouble is, once you begin gaining, you cannot always stop. Being a woman does not help this any.

You had another worm? That is scary. The tapeworm you passed probably was from beef. You know what is really scary? Trichonosis that is caused by uncooked pork.

Kassandra's brother might be jealous. Although the lack of attention is not what most people desire, he may want that. Perhaps he would like to get away with some not so nice things he wants to do? I hope he is faking just for Kassandra's sake. The last thing she needs is some stomach virus.

Maybe that is what is going on with my scalp! However, I do have flakes. The thing is, my face, neck, and back are also broken out. They itch and burn, too. Could it be DH?

Dear Andrea,

I know for sure I can get g.f., c.f., s.f. chocolate chips at the Chocolate Emporium. They are also not so far from here. They are located in Ohio. I need more cake mix anyway. I only have one left, which I am saving for my birthday.

I did not think about the IgeniX paperwork! I do not have to have it mailed, do I? Do you have a link? I see my doctor Tuesday. Can I print this out from the site? Where do I find it?

Meats are loaded with hormones. Antibiotics also mess things up. That is why people on the Candida Diet are told to go organic. Otherwise, the yeast might be fed by the meat. I cannot afford it, so I do not know if the diet will help much or not.

The Blaylock article really was fascinating. I copied that puppy! Then, I pasted it into Word. Now I have it on hand whenever I need it! Thank you for posting it!

At least I do not have long to wait on my tooth. The 13th, it goes. I am very nervous about it, but kind of anxious to get it over with at the same time. Luckily, the molar next to it can be fixed with a regular filling. My dentist wanted me to wait until after the new year to schedule that.

Coconut Bliss sounds so good! I wish we got that here! They do not have it, though. We never get a lot of things they get in other places. Most of that is reserved for the larger cities, like where Carla is. Thank you for the link again! I think I saved that in my favorites, but it is good to have that in case I did not.

I can see why you would be nervous about the probiotics. Still having metal in your mouth does not help matters at all. You definitely do not want that to methylate in there! This is a very reasonable concern. Do what you think is best. What did Dr. E say about it?

I could talk to the local owners of my favorite healthfood store in town about Rinne Bars! I do not know if they are going to take in more products right now, but I could see. It cannot hurt to ask. I bet if we could just get a case to sample, people will want more! What do you think?

You asked how long the course of abx is. It is one week. I take it four times a day. That means once every six hours. Ever since beginning them, I have had major gas that is deadly!

I know what you mean about the plumping up from hormones! I was a size 0-2, then after becoming a woman, went up to a size 8 in a year! That just plain sucked. When I was really sick, I got down to a size 4, and actually looked too thin. I either get too skinny, or too muscular. I want to find a way to be skinny and have some muscle at the same time.

Dear Birdy,

I am so happy you enjoyed my poem about pink e-coffee! I hate that Rinne did not get to see it. You would not happen to remember what page it was on, would you? I can go hunt it up. This might take a while.

Lotions almost never work for me. My skin is too dry, and so many have things I am allergic to. Dyes seem to be in everything. I have dealt with eczema for years. I have no idea if I could use anything on the market. Since I have to wash my hands so much, that makes it pointless!

Have you gotten to make any new soaps yet? I always wanted to try. Could you PM me some info? I would love that. I have an idea for an acne soap that is all natural.

Pumpkin pie and I have parted ways for obvious reasons. I do not think I have ever had raspberry pie, but I am sure it is tasty. I like strawberry pie, but am allergic to strawberries! I cannot remember the last time I had blueberry pie. Cherry pie would be nice, too!

Dandruff is a major issue for me as well. I had it when I was a child. I am not sure if it is really dandruff, DH, or Lyme. It appears to be acne, except it burns and itches and is on my face and other areas.

I may try some tea tree oil and see how it goes.

Mom and I do not get along, either. We are very different. I am an intellect, more like my father. She claims she knows me so well, but she does not know me at all. Really, no one in my family understands me.

Sometimes I wonder if maybe I was mixed up at the hospital or something.

It is terrible you are feeling so rough lately. What a bummer about five more food intolerances! I hope I do not have that many. This is so frustrating. Everytime you turn around, something else is irritating your system. Hopefully, today will be a better day for you.

That was a scary reaction to coconut! Do you have an EpiPen? If not, you should. A reaction like that is too dangerous to chance. If you go into anaphylaxis, your throat will close up within five minutes. An ambulance will not save you.

Dear Kassandra,

It is about time something is getting moving with the iron IVs! I am so glad this is finally happening for you! There have been way too many complications here. A lack of communication on the doctors' parts is the largest obstacle. Laziness does not help, which they appear to have issues with as well.

Are you sleeping now? You mentioned you could not sleep the other day. Taking naps can mess you up.

I just sleep when I can. Even if it is at odd hours, it is better than no sleep.

We do not have a Trader Joe's or a Whole Foods here. Remember, we live in the middle of podunk! No one comes here unless they have to. At least, that is how it seems. There is a healthfood store I frequent, and they may be able to order something in if they do not have it already. Their East Side location has many more things that the one over on our side of town.

Well, I have been casein-free for a week now. Nothing really has changed. I hope to God soy is not a problem. It may be, though. Here is something interesting. It may have been the dairy making me addicted to the chocolate. I went to the store mid-week, and realized I actually was not desperate to get chocolate!

If soy is a problem, I may very well go into a deep depression. I have not had Chinese food in so long! I need it! Please God do not let soy be an issue! So much I use has it in it, too. I would need to find a new margarine, new cooking spray, new gum (which I chew all day), and so much more!

Leaving school will probably be the best thing you ever did. Your online school sounds wonderful! Is it advanced-pace curriculum? My college was. As long as you stay organized, that will get you through it. By the way, if you need help with Spanish, feel free to ask! I had four years of it!

A chiropractor killed a patient? What happened? That is scary. Was it something that occurred in an adjustment or something? Most chiropractors are too expensive, so not a lot of people go to them often.

Isn't it amazing how idiotic doctors are? They go to school for what? To learn how to patronize sick people?

Most of their diagnostics is guessing. Usually, they have no clue!

You got to learn Mandarin? I am so jealous! We never had that opportunity at our school! There was a Japanese class, but it never happened because they had to have a certain number of students before they could do it. So, I ended up taking Japanese Art instead.

Holidays are such a hassle when you are sick. Enjoying the holidays is difficult when you do not feel well enough to do much of anything. It would be nice to just have one lousy day where you do not have to worry about your health. Maybe we will get that next year. We just have to keep hoping!

Mom and I argue a lot, too. If she actually thought of someone besides herself, that would help. I think my mother is tripolar. Which means, she is just plain nuts! It would be great if your mother would do the diet and it helped her bipolar disorder.

Maybe you will not be as queasy now that you are finished with the abx. My lower tract is annoyed big time right now. The Amoxy is really beginning to let its presence be known! I have been taking it since Thursday. So, I should be finished on Thursday or Friday of this week.

Losing weight is frustrating, especially this time of year! All of the tasty foods around are just so bad for you! I am trying to allow myself some treats, but without going overboard. Cookies are my favorite thing. I am going to have to rework the recipes, though.

Wow! That is some great info on iron! Thank you for posting that! I never knew some of that stuff. I was anemic when I was your age, but after stopping the periods, that went away. Luckily, it did not take long.

I have been taking probiotics for many years. Unfortunately, my system does not do well without them. Skipping them one day causes terrible problems. Since I cannot eat yogurt, supplements are all I have. I am about to run out again. They did not have my usual probiotic at Sam's, so I do not know if I will get more L. Acidophillus Pearls or if I will try a different supplement this time. I have doubled my intake since going on abx.

I hope your brother is faking so you do not catch anything nasty. The stomach flu is the one communicable disease I am purely terrified of. I have a fear of puking, too. Even worse, I often am sick with it for a month afterward until I can recover. I hate colds, but can handle them.

Thai foot scraping sounds painful! I have rough soles of my feet, too. Nothing really fixes it. Of course, there are some things I have not tried yet. Maybe some avocado would do the job?

NOW has good stuff. I like their products. They are clearly labeled as well. That is a big help! I am sure you can find the eggwhite powder online. I think I looked it up. Sarah should be able to get some.

Dear Donna,

You are probably right when you said that it is going to be a while for the test results. Christmas always puts things on hold. Everyone gets behind. You may be surprised though, and hear about your neuro/adrenal testing sooner than you expected. This varies according to the lab, too.

I love the Duh commercial, and hope to see more of it! Whoever came up with that ad did a good job. This was creative! I wish more commercials were like that. Some are just plain stupid. Humorous commercials are my favorites.

I had another Lyme Brain moment this morning. I went to eat some cereal, and had no idea where my soymilk was. I started to get rattled, then realized it was right in front of me! I felt so dumb! I just stood there in front of the fridge with the door open staring, thinking "Where could it be?" It is like it was there in front of me the whole time, but for some reason, my eyes did not notice it the first time I looked.

Here is a fun way to get back at your friend for being cruel about that cruise. On her next birthday, buy yourself a gift instead of her. Make sure it is something she really wanted. Then, tell her happy birthday while you gloat! That would be too funny!

It is kind of hilarious. My dentist is really laid-back. He just like "Well, you have a cavity, but we do not have to fill it now." I was surprised with this, because the other dentists could not wait to get money from me.

You have to watch those dentists with the fancy offices.

Vaginal ultrasounds are not fun! I have had them. They checked for cysts. I nearly passed out the pain was so bad. The thing is the size of a turkey baster, and the procedure is not something I enjoy having done. I have not had one in a while, and probably should have one to check for cysts again.

I am glad you are sleeping better more. The supplements seem to be helping. Melotonin did not do anything for me. Valerian did not help, either. There was also this homeopathic remedy I tried with passionflower in it. 5-HTP is one I never tried.

Sinus infections are not enjoyable. Sorry you have had a bit of one of them. I think I have one as well, due to the absessed tooth. As odd as it sounds, the symptoms actually got worse after taking the antibiotic.

How weird is that? The headaches are better, but the pressure in my head was intense at times, and then I began getting a sore throat and runny nose. WTH?

Hormones do seem to love fat. I got plenty of that on my lower half. Men do not have this trouble. Testosterone does not seem to make men fat. It is all Eve's fault!

Everyone seems to have that selective memory problem. Your brain shoves out stuff you want to recall.

They say that is not a bad thing when it comes to silly stuff. It is proof your brain is functioning properly.

I love trivia, so there are sometimes where I can recall a celebrity's zodiac sign, but not the time I last took my medication. I keep a medicine log for that reason.

That is great your sense of smell is returning! I bet you missed that. Your taste ability is primarily dominated by your sense of smell. This is why when we have colds, we cannot taste much of anything. What I have always wondered is how come when you have a cold, you cannot taste any of your food, but always taste the icky medicine!?

Those are some great tricks to remember if you took your supplements or not. I never thought about turning the bottles upside down. Spreadsheets are more of my style. Then, everything is organized. My medicine log is on the fridge. I have columns, and just fill out what I need to.

Maybe all of this crazy sinus stuff is part of a herx? Could that be? All I know is, my right side is more stiff than normal. This is mostly aggravating. It is sort of like a mild cold in the neck.

Seeing parasites would be yucky! I would not want to see them, either! This would be gross. Some things really get to me. That is one of them!

I am glad you are enjoying your pumpkin tarts. They sound good! There are a few things I am thinking about making right now. Brownies seem to be the smartest thing for me to make. A pie would be nice, too.

I told myself, they have to last a week.

The BioSet appointment sounded very productive. What a bummer about the molds still being such an issue. Hopefully, you will get to have the miasms done soon. I know how anxious you are to do them. Your adrenals sure sound like they are in bad shape. Thank goodness they caught that!

I had a similar IV experience when I was in the hospital. Every single time they put the Phenergan in there, it burned like fire. It was awful! I actually shrieked, which I never do from pain. I even got through my gallbladder surgery without pain meds or crying!

Mia was talking about buying the ionic foot bath. She has not said much about it lately. Maybe she just forgot to tell us? I would like to hear more about it. I know she said it would be cheaper to just purchase one.

Dear April,

Saunas are something I cannot do. I am very sensitive to heat. This is due to my Thyroid, and low blood pressure. Neurally Mediated Hypotension is known to do this to people. Those shower techniques may be doable, though.

Early puberty is bad! It was interesting you mentioned the body odor. I had strong body odor at a young age, and had to begin wearing deoderant at 7 years-old. I did not have early puberty, though. I am probably loaded with toxins, because my sweat has always discolored my clothing and bras. That was fascinating that short stature is closely linked to early puberty.

This is like what you were describing about the cigarette toxins coming out of your body. My parents both smoked. Mom quit when I was young, but she smoked while I was in the womb! Plus, Dad still smokes. I have been exposed to it since I was a fetus! I am probably loaded with cadmium.

I did not know that detoxing was more difficult in the winter. This is probably due to the body being in hybernation mode. Fasting was common in the winter, due to game being scarce. Hunters did not always have a lot around then. Despite people evolving, their bodies have not. We are biologically designed this way.

Those organizers at Michael's sound great for meds! I have not been there in forever! I love crafts, but have not had the energy or time to do them in a while. Bracelets and matching jars I paint are fun to make.

Baby food jars can be recycled this way!

Dear Sherry,

Could you teach me Mandarin? I can speak a little, but do not read or type it. That would really help me when I go to the Chinese market for rice flour. I am good with writing the calligraphy. I just wish I knew more of it.

I heard food in China is becoming more and more unsafe. No wonder people like your landlord are angry. Their children are being harmed! I hope his son will be alright. Let us know how is doing periodically!

Are the hot packs helping? I have not found much of anything useful on your condition yet. I am sure something is out there. We just have not come across it yet. This must be an elusive condition with your hands. By the way, thank you for the link!

Parasites are not good to have in you! I am glad the pumpkin seed/pineapple regimen helped. Detoxing can be rough on you. This is especially so when doing any form of parasite cleanse. Everything else you are doing really helps improve the scenario.

Gua sha still sounds painful to me! I am not sure that is something I would want to do. I bruise easily as it is. Being pale does not help the situation any. I do not need to be purple and red, too!

Did you sleep any better? You mentioned you did not sleep well the other day. That can make detoxing more difficult to deal with than normal. Just rest when you can. Do not overdo it!

Dear Ami,

I am glad your D&C went well. It will be over soon, I am sure. Just take it easy. When you are tired, you should rest. That includes emotionally!

Humaworm is heading your way! Now you can be cleansed, too! I do not think my body could handle that right now. That is so hilarious about your husband being grossed out by the worms! Maybe you could tease him with some Gummy Worms!

Smoking is tough to stop. My mother managed to do it. Dad probably never will quit. He is like a chimney. I am asthmatic, but he could not care less if I get lung cancer, as long as he is happy. My grandmother died of lung cancer, and she smoked. She was a nurse!

We are all more than happy to be here for you! You need someone to get you through this. Sometimes, your husband or sister does not understand. Others with health issues do. The frustration and utter exhaustion are something no one knows unless they have been there.

Supplements are best organized. Thank you for the suggestions! I am keeping all of these in mind. I am sure they will come in handy! I like things orderly.

I am not surprised about boys beginning puberty at 11 or 12. That is not so shocking compared to girls beginning their periods at 8 or 9 years of age. Most guys in my age group began around there, or on average at 13 years-old. Girls typically had an average of 12. Food is killing people, and I wonder how long it will be until something is finally done to correct it.

Dear Sarah,

Baking cupcakes at 3:30am sounds like something I would do! I often cook at odd hours since I am up and need food. Also, this prevents cc because my parents are in bed. I do not trust them! They finger everything, and they do not pay attention when they eat.

Smoking is a tough habit to break. It can be done, though! Hypnosis can be an effective method if you get someone who knows what they are doing. There are a number of ways to quit. My grandfather took up Lifesavers. He is now addicted to them.

I had asthma more when I was younger, but still get a little trouble. Smoke is bad for it. Do you use an inhaler? I do not need one now. I used to need it whenever I did exercise.

Thank you for the lotion info. I am not sure if I should make my own beauty treatments or what. My skin is so sensitive to dyes, that I cannot tolerate a lot of things. The eczema on my hands is so bad now that I can hardly stand it. Creams just burn.

You mentioned Susie. Have you seen her lately? Say hi for us all, would you? We miss our DingoGirl! She has been missing for quite some time! I know she is on the Silly Thread, but she never pops in here anymore!

There was no way of knowing that the formula you gave your son at the time was not good for him. I spit up all of the formulas, too. My parents had me on ProSobee, and all of those. Ones with iron really bothered me. Nothing set well, and I ended up on 2 percent milk. I was fine for a while after that.

I have Candida really bad, too. Unless she gets rid of the yeast in her lower intestine, all of the other issues will stay. A very strict diet and supplements often is the only way to successfully eradicate it. Sometimes prescriptions are needed like Nystatin on top of the other measures. I have a very severe case, so a lot is going to have to be done.

Food intolerances can be caused by Candida. Your mother may have developed them as a result of the yeast overgrowth. Dairy is not a good thing to have when you have yeast. The lactose feeds it. Aged cheeses are moldy, which aggravate the yeast as well. If the drug she was on was in powder form that was mixed with water, it probably was Nystatin.

Nuts are often moldy. I reacted to eating too many. High-fat foods do not set well with me anyway. However, nuts (particularly peanuts and pistachios) are noted as bad for Candida. The diet only allows fresh, in the shell nuts.

Dear Mia,

I would die if I ate 3 cloves of garlic a day! My system is too sensitive. MSM I do not think would bother me. We get that all of the time. That would probably be tolerated better. Thank you for the info from the Mercola site!

That olive oil soap sounds good. Where do you get it? Is it in stores? Or, do you have to order it online? I do not know if anyone sells Kiss My Face around here. Lotion is something I am at a loss on right now.

Didn't you buy an ionic foot bath? I could have sworn you said you were buying one. Did you get it? You had mentioned how much more affordable it was to just get one instead of going for treatments. The last time you talked about it, there were a lot of toxins being removed.

Dear Julie,

Lotions are something I do not really use. I probably should, but so many have things I cannot have. The perfumes and dyes are just not something I can have. Suave has some that I may be able to use, but it is scented. That might bother me. I will have to see.

Jennifer Aniston does yoga. It would be nice to have a body like hers! She has muscle tone, but is skinny. That is what I want. I definitely feel your frustration with not being in good shape despite the effort.

I am trying to be in the holiday spirit. I am excited about the gifts I am getting for my brother and mom.

I still have to find something for my father. He is hard to buy for. Fountain pens are his favorite, but I cannot find any good ones for a reasonable price.

There are times lately I do not feel like sparkling pink poo, either! I do not think I even could feel as good as twinkling teal tirds! Antibiotics are tough on the system. Ever since I started them, I do not want to do much. Being tired is some of it.

Here is a Lyme Brain moment for you. Mom was saying she was upset about spilling on her Pooh shirt. I was thinking poo shirt. She said she was starting to worry about me there! I realized what she meant after a second, but for some reason was thinking poo, not Winnie the Pooh!

I have heard of using yogurt packs and suppositories for yeast infections. There are also cyprilic acid suppositories you can use. Garlic suppositories are another option. Nature's pharmacy is very versatile. I have thought about trying one of these.

There is estrogen in the water?! WTH? No wonder so many people have hormone problems! I cannot believe this! Why would they put it in there? It makes no sense.

Maybe that is what is causing me such bad gas. I doubled my probiotic intake when I began abx. Now, I have very foul gas. This started after doing my abx. Bacterial dysbiosis is a possibility. Since starting the abx, I have not been hungry at all.

Rinne Bars are frozen treats that are dairy, gluten, and some soy-free. Rinne makes them herself. She also just began a new experiment. It is like an ice cream sandwich. I cannot wait to try all of them!

Dear Patti,

I wish I could help you with your moisturizer. I do not know about that. I am trying to find an anti-wrinkle/anti-aging cream. They say you should start in your 20s. I thought about using Olay, but do not know if it is safe. I thought Olay was supposed to be, but was not sure.

I am concerned about having additional intolerances. An elimination diet looks like the best option. Rotating foods can be difficult. You cannot have the same food more than once every four days. Foods from the same food families cannot be eaten but once every other day. No food should be eaten more than once in one day.

Dear Rinne,

I am not round, I am a pear. Still, I relate. Rachel very well could have a shortage of pink causing her to be skinny. You never know! There are some odd things out there!

Mammograms are no fun. Mom hates them. She only does them because she has to. They found clustered cysts in her left breast. There was nothing cancerous, but the lumps were somewhat painful.

I am sorry you had to wait so long for my column! It would have been on here sooner, but it has been so cold! My computer is in the basement, so you can imagine how difficult it is to type with frozen hands! I also have felt rough since doing the antibiotics. Once I am finished with them, I will feel better.

Since giving up casein, chocolate is not something I cannot control myself with anymore. I am doing much better with that. I have improved a lot. This was really unexpected. Mom and Dad have noticed I have lost weight already.

Yay! Rinne Bars are coming to the U.S.! This is so exciting! Your business partners sound like they are doing a bang-up job! I hope they get to Evansville soon! There are a lot of great places that are small that would be good to approach, not just chains.

Dear Laura,

Pumpkin Cheesecake would be good. I have never had it, but I bet I would like it. Turtle Cheesecake is good. I wish I could eat that! We will see how I do off of casein.

Dear Kristina,

That is wonderful you are keeping more foods down! :) You are still taking the Chinese herbs, aren't you? I know they helped a lot. I worry about keeping my food down all the time. The nausea and fatigue are my worst symptoms.

It is great your cold has gotten better. Those things really can be tough to manage. I usually suffer terribly the first four days. I walk around sounding like swamp thing trying to breathe! Plus, I end up looking like Rudolph because of the nose-blowing. One question I never could find the answer to was how could your head hold all that snot and keep making more no matter how much you blow out?

Yeast is something that weakens your immune system. So, it would not be odd for you to catch a cold because of it. Plus, didn't you just finish a course of antibiotics not that long ago? That definitely added to it.

Many factors go into that, but antibiotics tend to be a major instigator.

I am gassy as well. It is awful! The odor is so bad! All of this started once I took the abx. Until then, it was not like that. I also upped my probiotics dosage. Maybe it is the combination of the two?

Dear Nyxie63,

Your system is out of whack! You kind of have to get to the source of the issues before treating anything. Otherwise, you cannot do much good. Everything is often related. One condition can relate to a bunch of others. Adrenal problems often have Thyroid issues involved. Endocrine system imbalances are not uncommon with Lyme patients, for instance.

I hope your Thyroid is alright. What are you going to do meanwhile? Don't they have to do a biopsy?

I would think they would. I had tissue swollen around my Thyroid, and we thought it was a tumor. An ultrasound and CT revealed it was just tissue. This occurs when my Thyroid is hyper.

ROTFLMAO! I am not sure I would go quite that far to wish illness on my friend going on a cruise without me. Even if she was rubbing it in, I think I would do something else. Maybe I would buy myself a gift I know she likes on her birthday and flaunt in front of her. That would drive her crazy! Or, maybe pretend you forgot her birthday!

Vaginal ultrasounds are my least favorite kind! Especially the ones with the full bladder! You have to wait and wait. The hospital takes their sweet time, too. The gallbladder ultrasound was not so bad, but it would be easier if you did not have to fast. Fasting is always difficult for me.

Hormones are a major problem for many of us. Mine have been messed up since day one. I do not know why. Lyme may explain it. I am anxious to get some testing done. My doctor thinks my gut is possibly messing up my Thyroid.

I have been taking probiotics for several years. I have not always used the same ones. It depends on if the one was available or not. The Acidophillus Pearls are gluten, dairy, and yeast-free. I take two a day, although you only are supposed to take one. I just thought it might be a good idea to compensate for the loss of good bugs on account of the antibiotics.

I hope you tell that idiot doctor off! I would gladly pay the amount if I had it just to get an appointment with all of the doctors I have had in the past to tell them off! I hate them all! These morons have no business prescribing anything! They are killing people, or telling them they are nuts when they are dying!

Ionic foot baths do look good. They pull out toxins very well. Mia has had some good results. The last time she mentioned it, there were more toxins being removed. The method is effective.

You are smart to not eat a lot of processed foods. They are unhealthy, and make people fat and sick. That is wonderful you have lost weight, too! I do not think many of us realize how bad foods can be for us until we stop eating them and realize how much better we feel. Keep it up!

Dear tom,

My scalp is broken out bad! So is my face, back, neck, and I cannot figure out what it is exactly. I do not know for sure, but it could be DH. It looks like acne, but burns and itches until I claw it and it bleeds. The rash tends to be on the same spots on opposite sides. In other words, it is fairly symmetrical.

Cheese is so moldy! My mother said she had to watch how much she ate, or she would get an infection. I know she has an overgrowth of it, but she will not listen to me. I told her, it will not go away on the outside until you get rid of it in your intestines. When it is systemic, that is the only way you can eradicate it.

Sincerely,

Jin

I just watched a video about the insertion of PICC lines...AHHH!! I want to run!!!! OMG, I am so nauseous!!!! HELP!!!

Is this something you can just close your eyes with?

I don't know what they do for dialysis patients but my dad had something that was inserted in his chest area and capped to make it easier to do his dialysis. Is that similar to a PICC line?

I did not think about the IgeniX paperwork! I do not have to have it mailed, do I? Do you have a link? I see my doctor Tuesday. Can I print this out from the site? Where do I find it?

I don't know. Laura had posted the page that had the codes on them......don't remember if they had prices. Go to the igenex site and look around. Open Original Shared Link I looked very briefly and I saw the tests they recommend but no prices so I assume that's on the paperwork. Maybe you could call them Monday and find out if this can work, how much it would cost etc.

I can see why you would be nervous about the probiotics. Still having metal in your mouth does not help matters at all. You definitely do not want that to methylate in there! This is a very reasonable concern. Do what you think is best. What did Dr. E say about it?

I haven't talked to Dr E about it. She's trained under Klinghardt so I assume she's up on mercury treatment. Since I'm on chlorella maybe she's not concerned about it. Either way I think I'll reduce the probiotics to a few times a week.....If I remember. :P

NOW has good stuff. I like their products.

Our probiotic PB8 is from NOW if I remember correctly.

Mammograms are no fun.

My doctor hates mammograms and believes a woman should only get one for a reference point. He believes they cause more problems since they squish the cells so much. He prefers the thermal scan......something I need to add to my things to do whenever we have some funds that aren't allocated somewhere else.

Since giving up casein, chocolate is not something I cannot control myself with anymore. I am doing much better with that. I have improved a lot. This was really unexpected. Mom and Dad have noticed I have lost weight already.

Good news. :D

NoGluGirl Contributor

Dear Andrea,

I am not sure if they do dialysis and PICC lines similarly or not. Different places have different methods. I do not know how that works. It definitely hurts more when you look while they put the needle in. This is a psychological thing. We expect it to hurt, so it does!

I will go poke around on the IgeniX site again. I came across that page before.

No prices were listed, but maybe I was looking in the wrong place. There is bound to be something I can find if I look hard enough! If not, I will call tomorrow. Thank you for the link!

The chlorella may be protecting you. If you do not feel any ill effects from the probiotics, I do not see why it would be a concern. Dr. E already considered that, I am sure. They are nice to have. I notice a difference when I do not take them. I instantly get sicker.

I think I will look up PB8 and see if anyone carries it here. NOW are good quality products. They have so many wonderful supplements! I think they have a sublingual B Complex I would like to take. This brand is much easier to find than some others out there.

My mother had a mammogram at first. Once they thought they found something, she did a thermal scan. They are much more detailed. Plus, less painful! As you said, they squish you and it hurts! Donna refers to it as her annual smoosh fest! I hope your funds are not allocated elsewhere so you can get your exam!

I really was amazed about the chocolate. My mother was shocked. I could not believe I went into the store and saw the chocolate and did not get it. Normally, I could not wait to get it in the cart. Then, I would rip it open in the car on the way home! Who knew dairy was causing the cravings?

Sincerely,

Jin

Jin, the burbur is also for detox. :)

I'm starting to think that second worm might still have been part of the tapeworm .... I mean, it's been dead for a while, which could explain the difference in appearance.

Adam brought up something kind of funny ... it used to be that we'd both order a salad then split an entree when we went out to eat. Then, about four years ago when my weight dropped, I needed more food. It's apparent now that I need to go back to splitting an entree because I can nowhere near finish a restaurant dinner now!

My weight seems pretty stable at 129. :) It's a good place to be.

I just wanted to mention too that you can find pill dispensors at health food stores. They have 7 snap compartments and are labeled by the days of the week.
If only those were large enough! ;)

Sorry for being so negative, but this has been a comparatively bad few days. :( :(

This is a safe place to vent ... we've all been there. I hope your mom listens to the LLMD as much or more than she's listening to everyone else!

I actually am starting to think I don't have dandruff. I think it's what Carla said (I can't remember...stupid brain!).

Kassandra

Mine is related to Bartonella. It went away when I started Lyme treatment, but flared up again when we started treating the bart. Now it comes and goes, but overall seems to be improving. It doesn't itch anymore. I also have it on my forehead.

For awhile, we thought that her gut just needed more healing time. And while that may still be true, it's definitely become apparent that she's got other things going on.

She doesn't understand (and frankly, neither do I) how so many things can suddenly go bad at once! :(

Fruit juice is also high in mold.

My guess is she does need more time to heal. She probably also has other imbalances resulting from being so sick with celiac ... maybe candida, or maybe bacterial dysbiosis, etc. It will take time and pampering to bring her intestines back to where they need to be.

Herbs are a good idea. I found the oregano oil to be extremely helpful. I'm even more sold on the Humaworm, LOL.

HOLY CRAP!!!!! I just watched a video about the insertion of PICC lines...AHHH!! I want to run!!!! OMG, I am so nauseous!!!! HELP!!!

Kassandra :(

I don't think I would want to see a video before the procedure .... You'll do fine.

Nyxie,

I've used ionic foot baths in the past with a lot of success. It reduced a lot of knee/hip pain I was having due to heavy metals. The only thing to watch out for is that it draws out the good minerals as well as the bad. I'm going to start doing them again when I do the humaworm.

Everyone,

Thank you for the support. I had another reaction, but not half as bad, last night. I got some of the soap with coconut oil on it on my toothbrush, and think that's when I was exposed again. <_< Mom was up, though, and she had the clarity to break out the benadryl. Then today I drank some Full Circle rice milk without thinking to check the ingredients first, and it has soy lecithin in it.

This detoxer is definitely stirring things up and making me super-sensitive. Has anyone heard of Waiora Natural Cellular Defence? I'm just taking two drops a day this week. I'm supposed to increase it next week, but considering what's going on with my body now, it's not gonna happen. :P

Kassandra and Jin,

I finally found the soapmaking book! For a while I thought my room had eaten it up. It's called Natural Soapmaking. It doesn't have instructions for making the actual soap (oddly enough) just guidelines for what to add to plain, pre-made soap, how to make bath oil, and how to make bath salts. I'll PM you the basic recipes and some of the fragrance blends, unless other want to hear them as well. :)

Jin,

I have two Epi-Pen actually, have a horrible reaction to bees and walnuts. :( I'm trying to go casein free now, too! We can be buddies! :P

Sarah,

Wow, it sounds like your Mother has a huge candida explosion. :( I can't imagine how, after being healthy all your life, suddenly needing to pay a lot of attention to something you've just taken for granted. You're a wonderful daughter (and mommy!). :)

That tupperware in the back of the fridge that no one remembers what's in it?

Carla,

Yea, the video was a BAD idea! LOL! I'm sure it will be fine, but it's scary!!

Andrea,

The one you're talking about is different than a PICC line, that's is a central catheter. A PICC goes in your arm instead of on/near your chest.

Sherry,

Yea, I know I have come this far...it will all work out...I hope!!! LOL!

Jin,

I will respond to you a little later...gtg!

Everyone,

I guess the biggest reason I am so worried about the PICC line is because I will have to have been fasting...so that scares me because I usually pass out when they just take blood which takes about 5 minutes....but the PICC line takes about an hour to put in. I hope my body doesn't freak out!!

How come you have to fast beforehand? Was it Tuesday you were having it done?

Hi Borst! :D

I hope you'll join us......just jump in.

Thanks, I have my GI appointment tomorrow so i guess im just a bit on edge today. I often feel more anxious and upset right before my doctors appointments because i always have the feeling that nothing will be resolved...

anyway, still no progress after going gluten free for about a month.. i'm wondering if you were right about it may be parasites or something.. i'd like to try that humaworm stuff, but i should probably see what the GI says.

for those wanting to know my story, i posted it in the pre-diagnosis section: Open Original Shared Link

any help/insight would be appreciated..

Jin and Rinne,

Borst,

It definitely sounds like you're dealing with something in addition to Celiac: candida, bacterial overgrowth, metals, lyme, other allergies, etc. And welcome to the OMG thread! :D

Good luck with your dr referring you to a naturopath! :)

To have a change with a positive celiac dx from the biopsy you need to be on at least 4 grams of gluten a day for 3 months, and it still has a high chance of a false negative. Definitely not worth it in my opinion. Although if you're having reflux/stomach issues it could help rule out any problems besides celiac.

Yeah I think i still may push for an endo/colonoscopy even if just to rule out other problems of the digestive tract. Are there any other things i should tell my GI tomorrow?

Thank you for sharing your story—it really highlights the lifelong challenges of living with celiac disease, especially during a time when gluten-free options were nearly nonexistent. It’s heartbreaking to hear about your mother’s struggles and the severe health complications she faced, and I completely agree that more research is needed into the long-term effects of celiac and its associated autoimmune disorders like Hashimoto’s. The cost and availability of healthy, truly gluten-free foods remain a huge issue, and navigating hidden gluten and cross-contamination can make social situations and even eating out incredibly stressful. I also share your frustration with the lack of understanding among some medical professionals and the difficulty in finding specialists who truly get it. Your point about the need for affordable medical treatments, food vouchers, and better resources like travel guides for celiacs is spot on. Hopefully, as awareness grows, there will be more support for people facing these challenges. Thank you for raising such important issues! You should find a new GP in the New Year, because you cannot cure celiac disease by detoxing/cleaning your gut, and there is a lot of junk science out there which makes claims like this one.

Welcome to the forum. Scallop medallions should be gluten-free, even if they used meat glue (transglutaminase) to make them, and not everyone who has celiac disease will react to meat glue, but some might. The likelihood of scallops containing transglutaminase is relatively low, as fresh or frozen scallops are typically sold without additives. However, some processed scallop medallions, especially those shaped or reformed, may use transglutaminase as a binding agent. It’s always a good idea to check the label or contact the manufacturer to confirm. The article below has more info.

Regarding #1, you'll need to determine this yourself, as there aren't tests to determine this. I had issues with casein/milk during my recovery period, and had to avoid this for 2-3 years after my diagnosis. It can be a temporary intolerance for many celiacs that may go away after your villi recover. There is research that I shared which indicates that this is true, but only in some people, and with the vast majority of celiacs gluten is the primary culprit that causes villi damage--most celiacs won't get damaged villi from casein.

Hi all fellow coeliacs. I was diagnosed with coeliac as a young child. I am now 62. My mother had coeliac my sister has coeliac and my brother also. My mother went through a lot of struggles due to coeliac being there was not much understanding for her as a child and adult there were no gluten-free foods except meat and veg and a hard rusk biscuit made from rice.  As children, we faced the same dilemma and did not have any idea about cross-contamination foods and or hidden gluten in foods like lollies, sausages, ice cream and so much more. Now thanks to our multicultural society we have a lot more choices with different flours and natural healthy products. My mother due to ceoliac had to have a full hysterectomy at the age of 22 due to hemophiliac from birth. I was 3mths premature due to my mother's poor health.  I watched my mother go through so many health issues and then later in life develop thyroid issues, neuropathy in the feet and hands in pain, heart issues, and cirrhosis of the organs internally and on the skin externally causing so much pain she could not button her shirt, as well as diabetes 2. There needs to be more research into the complexities of the other autoimmune disorders associated with coeliac and disability support needs to be considered to support people as their health mobility and energy is so greatly impacted. I am unsure if one fully recovers once some damage has been done. I am not sure how families can cover the cost of food when many need to eat gluten-free.  I was not able to have much of a strict diet when I was younger however as an adult I do. I have been out to gluten-free restaurants thinking I was safe to only find the sauce used had gluten in it. Even going to a friend's home to eat is not safe as knowing what is gluten-free can be difficult in the hidden products, so it is difficult to be 100 percent gluten-free. Most of the gluten-free processed products are not healthy choices and are full of sugar creating weight and diabetes 2. At the age of 62, I now have developed hashimotoes from Ceoliac, the hashimotes impact my heart and breathing and I now have sleep apnea.  Searching for gluten-free healthy organic products is not easy and is very expensive. GP does not know much about the complexities of coeliac and if you go to a naturopath you get told you need to detox and clean your gut and can overcome coeliac so no one really gets it.  The journey in finding healthy options and specialists re coeliacs in the medical system is so difficult to navigate good health being a coeliac. Research needs to be completed on the longevity and complications of the aged from coeliac. Medical treatments should be assessable and low cost across the board as well as healthy food options cheaper or vouches worldwide be accessible. A travel guidebook would also be useful for coeliacs.

I'm wondering if anyone has used Scallop medalions when doing bacon wrapped scallop medalions. I have the gluten free bacon but not sure about the medalions. Some use a binding product Transglutamas but it's hard to find which ones do or don't and info varies as to it's effect on celiac sensitive people. Any input out there? Overview
