Oh, please share the recipe!

It's not that I love this fudge so much .... it's that it never upset my stomach, it's high in fat (for Mepron and Malarone), and concentrated calories. :)

In fact, I had my braces tightened today, so I'm having fudge and a raspberry/whey smoothie for dinner. :)

I get my braces OFF Feb. 7th, did I already post that? Can't help it if I did. LOL.

That's SO EXCITING Carla! I remember the day I got my braces off...omg...amazing!

The recipe for fudge balls:

2 cups almond butter

2 cups dates, pitted and soaked

1/2 cup carob powder (I used cocoa powder and it worked out fine)

1. Put dates in food processor and blend until smooth

2. Add other ingredients and process until mixed well together

3. Roll into bite-sized balls and refrigerate until hard(ish)

They are really good! I cut the recipe in half because, well, I don't NEED the fat or calories...lol. I also put them in the freezer for about 30 min. then put them in the fridge. They are REALLY good!

Edit: P.S. How could I forget??

ANDREA!! I just booked my PDX xmas flight!!

I'm there Dec 19-28. Waiting to hear which days my nephews will be w/ their dad, then hoping one of those days is a good one for us to meet up! :o:) :) :)

Nyxie,

Don't worry about coming in here overwhelmed. That's what we're here for.

Rachel,

That's AMAZING NEWS!!!!!! :lol::wub:

Kassandra,

It seems like insurance companies don't believe that ill people have enough problems and feel compelled to add some more.

Carla,

Hooray for getting the braces off!!!

Today I saw my counselor and he did some emotional NET things so I now have a lot of my energy back. :) Got all of my #1 priorities done today (of course there were only three things :P). Woohoo!!

Sarah,

Thyroid/surgery overview...

 Well that sure doesn't make it easy to make a decision, does it? :( I don't blame you a bit for being so frustrated!!!

I agree with Donna's comment about the bananas ... I have no trouble with them at all, but hubby, who's not intolerant to anything, can get sick from bananas .... especially if they're a little green.

Ezra too-- well he does fine if they're good and yellow, but if they're even a little green, forget about it. He'll get terrible diarrhea!

Thanks, Kassandra, for the recipe. I love dates .... but I try to avoid dried fruit because of the mold and high sugar. :( LOL, it's kind of funny since I don't have any real intolerances anymore, that you have something I can't have. ;) I'm okay with things like dried fruit, fruit juice, or peanut butter for a day or two, but after a couple days, it causes fatigue.

Well, same thing happened last night ... the school even called to say they were delayed due to weather .... they have a system that calls everyone .... they called at 5:30 AM and I fell back to sleep anyway. :) Must be the laser, huh? I'm going to have to email the nurse I bought it from and ask .... she'd probably like the feedback anyway, right? I hate to bother her ....

mftnchn Explorer

Wow, Carla!

I am impressed that a laser might do what nothing else would do besides Ambien. Wish it was possible to try laser before investing in it, wonder what one treatment would cost?

I am down with a back problem, seems like my massage yesterday started it, so I went back and now it is so bad I am having trouble moving. Supposed to travel home tomorrow by bus. :(

Kassandra, the insurance is unbelieveable. 3000 on every illness? And how to they define a separate illness? Why can't the doctors office teach you the flushing? That's seems strange that you have to have HHN. Its not that complex I don't think, right?

Donna, weird about the Humaworm, but I am thinking that it is likely one of the ingredients. Maybe I will have that problem too. I'll get mine at the very end of December.

Also, since 70 percent of the parasites are too small to see, maybe you actually are getting rid of stuff and detoxing. How long have you been on it now?

Carla, congratulations on the one year....I passed my seventh since diagnosis and starting abx in Oct. Boy I hope that I can successfully get off them. I am holding my own on the 4 days a week regimen so that's good.

If you were anywhere near here, you could try mine. ;) It takes 3-5 minutes ... it's like scanning your whole body with a laser pen, LOL.

About three weeks. It could be ... it's so strange that it was the same day I tried the laser though .... I've been on the Humaworm for three weeks.

That's great! I hope you can get off them, too. I'm hoping by this time next year I can be switched over to herbs. :)

Kassandra,

OMGosh, YAY for the nurse giving it to the insurance company.

It just never ceases to amaze me! They won't pay for preventative care, but end up paying out MORE money when something goes wrong.

I'm glad the PICC line flush didn't hurt!

Your fudge ball recipe sounds great. I may try it some day, but like Carla, I have to be mindful of the mold thing, so it may be a while.

I get my braces OFF Feb. 7th, did I already post that? Can't help it if I did. LOL.

YAY!!!!

Birdy,

Yay on the energy...can I have some, lol!

Carla,

Uggg, I'm back to NOT sleeping. This was the third night in a row that I've awaken and not been able to get back to sleep. Last night it was midnight. At about 1:00 I got up and took more sublingual liquid melatonin, but that did nothing. I think I dozed off finally around 3:30...I have to get up at 4:00, so didn't do me much good, lol. Stupid insomnia. Stupid work. Stupid bugs.

Sherry,

Sorry you're down with your back...hope you can travel in comfort!

I've been on the Humaworm for 11 or 12 days now. Yeah, I've been trying to think what ingredient in the Humaworm could cause this...my digestive tract is definitely up in arms about something. While I'm laying there in the middle of the night my intestines are really noisy and I have that intense burning in my stomach area. I also have a lot of gas during the later part of the day.

I have also had a return in the last 3 days of the really bad sunburn feeling all over my skin. I haven't had much of this for the last 3-4 months and when I do it's usually just a small spot, but in the last 3 days, the burning skin has been really bad and it's all over my body. Hurts when my clothing touches my skin. :( My doctor said this is a lyme symptom, but I've also heard it connected to metals and to molds, lol. The humaworm could be killing stuff off that affect any one or more of those things, lol.

I hope your back feels better by tomorrow for your trip home. :( That's awful.

Congrats on holding your own for the 4 day regime! :)

I would think the humaworm is killing off stuff and causing the flare ups. :(

I guess that's a good and a bad thing at the same time.

You see Doc S in 1 1/2 weeks so maybe he'll have an answer and be able to put you on something to help more.

Sorry about the insomnia. :( I don't know how you guys function without much (or very interrupted sleep).

confusedks Enthusiast

Carla,

Hmmm....maybe that's why I didn't feel so good yesterday. The fudge balls could have been the reason, I'll have to experiment and see. That's great you're falling asleep better. I am also, but I think it's because I am more anemic from the stupid PICC line insertion because I kept bleeding...they said I lost quite a bit of blood. <_<

Sherry,

I don't know how they classify each illness. As far as the doctors office teaching me how to do it, they can't really because they don't have the supplies to send me home with. They only have enough to do the patients who go in, not enough to send me home with some.

I hope your back gets better soon and your bus ride isn't too uncomfortable.

Donna,

I can't imagine not sleeping for any length of time. Read what I said to Carla. My sleep isn't great again, but it's definitely been better since the PICC line was put in.

Yep, I'm going to ask Dr. S for some ambien. I'll only take it for weeks like this where I KNOW I have stuff going on every night or had several nights in a row where I haven't slept, and on Tuesday nights after ensemble rehearsal. I'm getting home from our performances around 8:15, but since I go to bed at 9:00, I'm thinking it is just late enough to disturb my regular patterns. But it's also been so stressful at work and the whole performance thing is stressful because it's really DISORGANIZED and for some other issues with the choir as well!

The burning skin does sound like a flare...I also plan to ask Dr. S about the cholestyramine to help with getting rid of the toxins.

Sheesh, maybe I need to lose a little blood, lol. Seriously though, I WAS sleeping better until this week, so I'm hoping it's just the stress and that maybe after this week I'll get a little closer to the way it was (i.e., I was waking up several times a night, but falling back to sleep rather quickly, even after getting up to go to the bathroom).

hey all-

I have not posted in a while. Umm...so i don't know what to update on. Pretty much the same stuff- as far as chelation goes. I am still not doing the glutathione but the nurse really wants me to try to slowly introduce and see if i can handle it that way. I am nervous about it though. But she suggested coming in on a day when i don't have DMPS and having it by itself so I can really gage my reaction.

Ok I finally got the humaworm!!! So I am in the club now. I started to take it ,but only yesturday. I was gonna put it off but i feel so bad anyways i figure why not give it a try. Yesturday i had an appointment with the woman who does my muscle testing. I brought the humaworm and i tested really well for it. So knock on wood my body obviously wants it but can it handle it? WE will see soon I guess.

I also had her test me for the MSM , which i have been taking, and i tested well for that too. But man the humaworm was really strong , it was nuts.

Ok so I had my celiac disease-57 redone- not so good- do you guys remember how anything under 60 is too low and you should be much higher that that. Well I had a 24. YIKES!!!

I had My ignenix test redone. I am waiting for the results. I am curious if anything will ahve changed now that I ahve been doing the chealtion and moving all these metal around and out. I know mercury can hide lyme or not hide but prevent it from fully showing its ugly head.

I guess thats all for now.

Oh Julie-

I did send you a PM but i also wanted to say I have had alot of problem with numbness in the hands etc. I wake up and parts of my body feel asleep but not parts i was leaning on. It actually gets painful when the numbness wears off I get sore. So I think something is very off with my circulation (or I might be sleep sumo wrestling )

I love the Ambien! I was so hesitant to start taking it, but I find that if I don't need it (like in the middle of the night), I have no desire to take it. I don't feel like I'm addicted, even though I take it every day .... if that makes sense. I feel it will be easy to get off once the reason for my insomnia is gone.

Well, I'm excited to hear how you feel after taking it for a while! Sounds like you need it!

Mia, I can't believe your C.D57 score went DOWN!!! It was 26 before!

Rachel--24 Collaborator
Mia, I can't believe your C.D57 score went DOWN!!! It was 26 before!

From what I understand....this doesnt really mean she is worse. The number will go up and down throughout treatment. Its not until the infection is really beginning to be controlled by the immune system that you will see the numbers shoot up into higher ranges. In the meantime the results can probably vary from week to week...or even day to day.

I dont think Mia is doing anything to treat Lyme yet...just some days she will be doing better than other days.

Mia, try not to push your body too hard. If you feel bad already and then start to feel worse on the Humaworm...dont feel like you need to continue. If your body cant deal with the toxic load....its not necessarily helping you to kill the bugs. You need to be able to detox it all.....its better to not exceed what your body can handle at one time...just like with chelation.

My Dr. always reminds me that these treatments are cumulative. chelation can pull out metals, killing bugs spills metals and releases toxins, different supplements do different things...saunas and other treatments can release toxins. It all adds up and can easily exceed what your body can handle.

I kind of wonder in the chelation is bringing out the lyme more. I'll be curious to see you Igenex results.

Hope the humaworm goes as well as you tested for it.

Just about every night this week. :P Tuesday was dress rehearsal, Wednesday was the first performance, then last night, tonight, tomorrow afternoon and Sunday afternoon. We perform once more on the 19th at night.

I'll be going home early today. My neck is KILLING me today, so I asked my boss if I could leave when my co-worker gets here at 1:00. She said yes, so I'll go home for a little while, relax with my warmy bags on my neck and see if that helps calm everything before I have to go out again. Not having to work tomorrow will probably help too.

You are welcome! We frequently get similar comments. Knowledge about celiac disease in the medical community at large is, unfortunately, still significantly lacking. Sometimes docs give what are obviously bum steers or just fail to give any steering at all and leave their patients just hanging out there on a limb. GI docs seem to have better knowledge but typically fail to be helpful when it comes to things like assisting their patients in grasping how to get started on gluten free eating. The other thing that, to me at least, seems to be coming to the forefront are the "tweener" cases where someone seems to be on the cusp of developing celiac disease but kind of crossing back and forth over that line. Their testing is inconsistent and inconclusive and their symptoms may come and go. We like to think in definite categorical terms but real life isn't always that way.

Hey @Morgan Tiernan, Sounds just like my experience. I was diagnosed with dermatitis herpetiformis over 10 years ago. It appeared suddenly as a very itchy rash which looked like Eczema. When a steroid cream didn't clear it up, my Dermatologist (who had come across it before) suspected dermatitis herpetiformis and performed a skin biopsy which came back positive for dermatitis herpetiformis. The important thing is to get a definitive diagnosis of dermatitis herpetiformis. What you've described sounds like classic dermatitis herpetiformis though. Hopefully, your Dermatologist has come across dermatitis herpetiformis before and performs the skin biopsy correctly as trents mentioned. I've had the blisters on the knees, hips, forearms/elbows or anywhere that pressure is applied to the skin ... from clothing or otherwise. They itch like nothing on earth, and yes salt from sweat or soaps/shower gels will irritate a lot. I've been on Dapsone and it is very very effective at eliminating the dermatitis herpetiformis itch, and improved my quality of life in the early stages of getting on top of dermatitis herpetiformis while I adjusted to the gluten-free diet. But it does have various side effects as trents said. It can effect the red blood cells, lowering hemoglobin and can cause anemia, and requires regular blood monitoring whilst on it. You would need to consider it carefully with your Dermatologist if you do have dermatitis herpetiformis. Here's a very informative webinar from Coeliac Canada discussing everything dermatitis herpetiformis related.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PAdmsNiyfOw I've also found this recent interview with a Dermatologist about dermatitis herpetiformis to be educational.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rZnLeKutgUY Keep the chin up and keep advocating for yourself for a proper diagnosis. Though it sounds like you're on top of that already. Are you in the UK or Ireland? I'm curious because your surname is Irish.

I would go for four weeks to ensure a valid test, if you can tolerate it, that is.
